Discuss our troublesome relationship to AA literature, including the current GSO controversy about changing "the founders" writings. Alternate steps and the problems they bring. Can the Big Book be rejected entirely and still be AA? Is new literature like "The God Word" being made available, and are other strategies necessary? And more! This recording is from ICSAA 2024, Friday 4:30 PM, September 20, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, led by Kurt R.Secular AA is AA sobriety that is neither religious nor irreligious, focusing on the practical, humanist tools of Alcoholics Anonymous and borrowed from the wider recovery community. Many of us stay involved in "traditional" AA; in fact some of us only (or at least mainly) go to such meetings and are active in AA General service. Of these, some are "out there" as unbelievers, others not so much. Some see Secular AA as an attempt to evolve the culture of the fellowship we love from within rather than any kind of alternative. Many of us don't. Let's discuss tactics, war stories, experience and explore presuppositions and challenge them. This recording is from ICSAA 2024, Sunday 9:00 AM, September 22, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, led by Kurt R.Secular AA is AA sobriety that is neither religious nor irreligious, focusing on the practical, humanist tools of Alcoholics Anonymous and borrowed from the wider recovery community. The Philadelphia Flyers are quietly taking on the NHL by storm based on what their expectations were just a few months ago. They're 2nd in the Metropolitan Division and we're continuing to see development from many players as this season progresses. This week, Kurt R. from BroadStreetHockey.com joined us for a look at the Flyers' defensemen as well as what the team's goalie situation looks like at this point. It was a great discussion! But first, we discussed where they Eagles may go in terms of the coaching staff, and what key players the front office should re-sign to contract extensions during this offseason. (approx. 7:20)We then dove into some of the worst Eagles seasons of the past. Which one was the biggest collapse?(approx. 23:00)We then gave our predictions for the upcoming NFC and AFC Championship Games, as well as which team we believe will win the Super Bowl. (approx. 28:45)From there, we gave our opinions on the Billy Wagner Baseball Hall of Fame snub. (approx. 33:20)We also discussed the new head coach for the Bucks in the NBA, Doc Rivers, and how this hire may affect the Sixers. (approx. 42:15)What we threw down on the Table this week was an in-depth discussion and interview with Kurt R. from Broad Street Hockey about the Flyers' goalie situation and what the defensemen have been showing us on the ice. The Carter Hart leal situation and whether we'll see Sam Ersson long-term. Can Jamie Drysdale and Oliver Bonk be that top No. 1 pairing in the future? Grading Owen Tippett, Egor Zamula, and Cam York. I am delighted to welcome this week's guest, Kurt Rohloff. Kurt is the CTO and Co-Founder of Duality Technologies, a privacy tech company that enables organizations to leverage data across their ecosystem and generate joint insights for better business while preserving privacy. Kurt was also Co-Founder of the OpenFHE Homomorphic Encryption Software Library that enables practical and usable privacy and collaborative data analytics. He's successfully led teams that are developing, transitioning, and applying first-in-the-world technology capabilities for both the Department of Defense as well as for commercial use. Kurt specializes in generating, developing, and commercializing innovative secure computing technologies with a focus on privacy and AI/ML at scale. In this episode, we discuss use cases for leveraging Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) and other PETs.In a previous episode, we spoke about federated learning; and in this episode, we learn how to achieve secure federated learning using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) techniques.Kurt has been focused on and supported homomorphic encryption since it was first discovered, including his involvement in one of the seminal projects, funded by DARPA, where he ran an implementation team, called PROCEED.FHE, as opposed to other kinds of privacy technologies, is more general and malleable. As each organization has different needs when it comes to data collaboration, Duality Technologies offers three separate models for collaboration, which enable organizations to secure sensitive data while still allowing different types of sharing.Topics Covered:How companies can gain utility from a dataset while protecting the privacy of individuals or entitiesHow FHEs help with fraud prevention, How FHEs help with fraud prevention, secure investigations, real-world evidence & genome-wide association studiesUse cases for the three collaboration models Duality offers: Single Data Set, Horizontal Data Analysis, and Vertical Data AnalysisComparison & trade-offs involved between federated learning and homomorphic encryptionProliferation of FHE StandardsOpenFHE.org, the leading open source library for implementations of fully homomorphic encryption protocolsResources Mentioned:Review the OpenFHE encryption software libraryLearn about DualityGuest Info:Connect with Kurt on LinkedIn Privado.ai Privacy assurance at the speed of product development. Are we seeing positivity with the Philadelphia Flyers early this season? Winning three straight games out of the gate has been great, but we should probably temper expectations. Kurt R. from BroadStreetHockey.com joined us this week for a deep dive into the start of this 2022-2023 Flyers season where we talked about young talent, defensemen, and the goalie. It was a great, fun and in-depth discussion! But first, we briefly discussed how it's feeling to be a Philly sports fan at the moment where the Eagles are 6-0, the Flyers are 3-0, and the Phillies are in the NLCS.. (approx. 4:00)From there, we got into some listener feedback about whether or not the Eagles should make a move and trade for Christian McCaffrey to help the offense. (approx. 7:05)The guys then discussed the Sixers opening night, concerns from that game against the Celtics, and the lack of defense. (approx. 20:45)From there, they gave their thoughts on how the NLCS is going for the Phillies, hopes for the bats and bullpen, and also how they're looking forward to cohost Len's wedding this weekend. (approx. 31:40)What we threw down on the Table this week was a great discussion and interview with Kurt R. from Broad Street Hockey about the start of this Flyers season. John Tortorella might actually be the right guy for this team at this particular moment, expectations for Morgan Frost this season, Travis Sanheim's contract extension, and Carter Hart's ups and downs. The question those of us in Flyers Nation keep asking is; are the Flyers a top NHL team? We've seen the ups and downs this season all over the ice. This week, Kurt R. from BroadStreetHockey.com joined us to dive into this Flyers team more, and examine where they're at and how they can enhance their product. It was a great discussion! But first, we responded to listener feedback that came in this past week: the Mavericks and the National Anthem & major concerns with the Phillies this coming season. (approx. 21:45)On our Highbrow Segment this week, we dove into how before the pandemic, it seems like sports fans were just there - they were part of the gig for athletes. (approx. 33:20)On our Lowbrow Segment this week, we've got a new top-3 list: our favorite hilarious lines from sports movies. (approx. 42:20)What we're throwing down on the Table is an in-depth interview with Kurt R. from Broad Street Hockey about the state of this Flyers team and whether or not they're actually a top NHL team. How should we be assessing Nolan Patrick's time on the ice thus far? What about the issues surrounding Carter Hart this season in front of the net? Will the Flyers make a trade with the assets they have to bolster this defense and the team in the Eastern Division? All of this and much more on the Table this week! (approx. 54:30)
BSH Radio welcomes Kurt R. to the show as the post-lottery victory hangover is finally starting to wear off. Bad trade ideas are the topics of the night, as the gang rails against the unlikelihood of the #2 pick being shopped, and the misguided theory that winning that pick allows the Flyers to trade Sean Couturier. Steph also vehemently expresses her belief that the word "elite" is overused in describing hockey players, while Charlie rails against the World Championships. The show ends on a positive note, however, as Oskar Lindblom's fantastic 2016-17 season and his chances of making the Flyers in September are evaluated. Learn more about your ad choices. A special Thanksgiving edition of Broad Street Hockey Radio features Travis Hughes and Kurt R. filling in for Kelly and joining Steph, Charlie, and Bill. The perplexing decision to bench Shayne Gostisbehere is examined further in light of a fake news site spreading a trade rumor early Monday morning. Dave Hakstol's line shuffling continues as the dynamic duo of Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek are reunited, and Wayne Simmonds joins Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny. Steve Mason's work load and the new All-Star voting rules are also discussed. Also, Matilda sucks. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
March 10, 2014. In its 2006 Report, the Copyright Office recommended that Congress amend the Copyright Act to limit the remedies available against good faith users of orphan works after the user performed a generally "reasonably diligent search" to locate the owner of that work. The 2008 bills set forth certain baseline requirements such as searching the Office's online records, and would have required users to consult best practices applicable to the work at issue. Both copyright owners and users would have participated in developing these best practices, which the Register of Copyrights would have coordinated. During this session, participants discussed how best to define a good faith, reasonably diligent search in light of changes in the legal and technological environment since 2008, and whether improvements can be made to the standard set forth in the 2008 bills. Speakers included Karyn Temple Claggett, Catherine Rowland, Michael Capobianco, Krista Cox, Greg Cram, Alec French, Eric Harbeson, Ann F. Hoffman, Meredith Jacob, Kurt R. Klaus, Jack Lerner, Sarah Michalak, Nancy C. Prager, Jay Rosenthal, Carrie Russell, Amy Sabrin, Ben Sheffner and Nancy Wolff.
