Kyara kletst schaamteloos over alle taboes. En begint bij zichzelf dit te onderzoeken: hoe voelt het om ook dit taboe naar boven te brengen? Trauma en kink zijn nauw met elkaar verbonden. Dat klinkt al meteen heel heftig, dus daarom maar alvast De trigger warning: hier wordt heftige shit gedeeld over kinks, waar je wellicht liever niet over had willen horen. Dus wil je jezelf daaraan niet blootstellen, sla deze podcast dan over.  Healing kink of coping? Ik vertel in deze aflevering mijn pad en onderzoek in de sex-positive wereld waarin kink voor mij een belangrijke rol speelt. Voor anderen wellicht meer bekend onder de noemer BDSM, maar ik kwam al snel achter dat dat slechts 'een kink' is, zoals vele andere dingen een kink zijn. Ik praat vrijuit over de relatie tussen mijn trauma en mijn kinks, en wat ze daar met elkaar te maken hebben: is het helend? is het hertraumatiserend? is het een gezonde expresssie van seksualiteit?  Al pratende met tafelheer Martijn leg ik genuanceerd uit, hoe mijn leerproces (met vallen, blauwe plekken, ropemarks en opstaan) en copingstrategieen waren en waarom kink daarbij bijgedragen heeft. Let op: ik praat puur en alleen over mijn eigen ervaring. Mocht je ergens jezelf herkennen in de verhalen, dan berust dat puur op toeval. Alle verhalen gaan over mijzelf, en gaan over hoe ik mijn werkelijkheid beleef. Ik noem geen namen of herkenbare situaties, zodat ik ieders privacy zoveel mogelijk waarborg.  NOTA BENE: Heb je vragen over je eigen kinks of de kink wereld? Praten helpt! Echt! )  Ik krijg namelijk heel veel vragen via Social Media, en dat is prima, maar ik heb er geen tijd voor om iedereen persoonlijk te woord te staan. Dat is geen persoomlijke afwijzing of desinteresse, dat is puur tijdgebrek en een mental space die uiteindelijk ook maar beperkt is.  Daarom kan je mij boeken als coach of kink-friendly bodyworker, waar je alle aandacht krijgt om die vragen te onderzoeken en kan oefenen met het voelen en uiten van je eigen verlangens.  Maar ik ben geen therapeut of psycholoog. Heb je pyschiatrische hulp nodig, begin daar dan eerst mee. Een coach kan je heel goed complementair steunen in je proces, maar ga geen diepe trauma's met een coach oplossen of met je kinkpartner: daar zijn ze niet voor. Een open gesprek met Kyara van Verseveld over haar verleden met Acne en hoe dit impact had op haar mentale welzijn. 3 jaar geleden kwam Kyara bij mij met de hulpvraag om haar Acne aan te pakken. Zij heeft toen de EMB bloedtest gedaan en merkte na 3 weken al een duidelijk verschil. Samen kwamen we tot een mooie aanpak en zelf nam zij de volledige verantwoordelijk om gemotiveerd met de adviezen aan de slag te gaan. Nu, 3 jaar later, was haar positieve resultaat het begin van een zaadje om zelf ook andere vrouwen te helpen met huidproblemen. Ze is nu zelf therapeut en helpt jong volwassen vrouwen hier ook vanaf te komen. Een mooi gesprek met kwetsbaarheid en het belang van een goede gezondheid. Acne kan enorme impact hebben op je zelfbeeld, dus mooi dat zij nu de missie heeft om dit bij andere vrouwen aan te pakken. In Kyara Kletst seizoen 2 praat ik o.a. met verschillende collega's die werkzaam zijn in een veld waar nog veel schaamte zit en weinig algemene kennis: sekseducatie en seksuele gezondheid. Een nieuw veld wat zich op het snijvlak bevindt van persoonlijke ontwikkeling, plezier en levensgeluk: seks is geen taboe meer, maar een een van de vele facetten van jouw mentale en fysieke gezondheid. Tijd dus om dat werkveld in kaart te brengen: bij wie moet je zijn? En wat houdt hun werk dan precies in? Vandaag heb ik te gast collega en vriendin Danique Scipio! Danique heeft een woelig leven achter de rug waar seks een terugkerend thema was. Als jonge twintiger werkte zij bij een seksclub in Berlijn en was ze zelf nog vol aan het sexperimenteren totdat haar lichaam opeens aangaf: maar nu is het genoeg. Na een lang, celibaat jaar van herbezinning en therapie begint ze aan een nieuw hoofdstuk in haar leven:  mensen helpen als sexual welness coach en pleasure activtist. Haar leven had naast vele hoogtepunten ook veel duister: ze is sexual abuse survivor, en heeft als missie om mensen bewust te maken van trauma, en daar ook mee leren werken. We zullen het ook gaan hebben over genitale dearmouring, kink en sex toys en wat je daarmee kan bereiken voor een fijner seksleven. In dit gesprek knalt de passie over haar werk, over seks en je lijf er vanaf. Danique is gepassioneerd als het gaat om seksuele educatie en weet er ook veel vanaf.  'Seks is een kunstvorm'  We bespreken ook moeilijke onderwerpen, zoals seksueel misbruik. Wist je dat een op de drie vrouwen en een op de vijf mannen misbruik ervaart? Janneke is  vandaag te gast bij Kyara Kletst om te vertellen over haar bipolaire stoornis. Het is voor haar een lange weg geweest, om überhaupt de juiste diagnose te krijgen. Wist je dat het gemiddeld 17.5 jaar duurt om de diagnose bipolaire stoornis bij iemand vast stellen? Janneke vertelt openlijk over hoe haar leven voor de juiste behandeling eruit zag. We voelen allemaal wel eens de drang om onszelf soms weg te cijferen voor een geliefde. Hun geluk is ons immers zo veel waard. Maar wanneer gaat dat wegcijferen over de grenzen heen van je eigen welzijn? Wanneer wordt het ongezond? Kyara vertelt openhartig over haar Borderlinejeugd. Trigger warning: zelfbeschadiging. Mensen met Borderline persoonlijkheidsstoornis (kortweg BPS of Borderline) hebben last van sterke wisselingen in hun stemming, gedachten en gedrag. Hierdoor lopen ze vaak vast in het dagelijks leven. Ze zeggen bijvoorbeeld plotseling hun baan op, slagen er maar niet in om een opleiding af te maken of om vriendschappen en relaties te behouden. Dit is dus één van de meest kenmerkende aspecten: het met heftige emoties reageren op een voorval èn maar langzaam terug kunnen keren naar de ‘normale' toestand. Er is een snelle piek en een relatief langzame daling. Kyara vertelt haar persoonlijke verhaal, hoe Borderline bij haar tot uiting kwam en hoe ze daar de eerste helft van haar leven onbewust en destructief mee om is gegaan. Pas toen ze leerde omgaan met emoties en naar binnen ging (met o.a. dank aan yoga) werden haar BPS-symptonen ook minder. Tot op de dag van vandaag dealt ze nog met "Borderline Light". Een persoonlijk en ook moeilijk verhaal voor haar om te vertellen, maar een verhaal waar wèl over gekletst moet worden. Show Notes: Kundalini Yoga Kundalini ("bewustzijn") yoga is een spirituele yogastijl die raakt aan een bewustzijn dat bij iedereen inherent aanwezig is. Het ontwaken van de Kundalini zorgt voor een energiestroom die dit bewustzijn aanwakkert. Het onbewuste wordt bewust. Bij veel yogasoorten gaat het vooral om de asana's en kriya's (houdingen en oefeningen). Maar bij Kundalini yoga zijn de ademhalingstechnieken, het zingen van mantra's (chanting) en meditatie de focus. De snelle opeenvolging van de (eenvoudige) asana's  tijdens Kundalini samen met de ademhalingstechnieken, zorgt voor een direct voelbaar effect in je lichaam en geest. Dit is deel 2, waarin we verder praten over hoe je je sexleven kan verbeteren en verbreden. Wat verstaan we eigenlijk onder sex? En wat is een kink, en is eigenlijk alles niet een kink? Wat zijn de essentiële onderdelen van fantastische seks? En wat weet Martijn eigenlijk van Tantra? Hier wat interessante topics die ik behandel, die je zelf mag opzoeken:  SHOW NOTES: Handvatten voor kink-zoekers: Ga naar workshops of 'kink aware' coaches/ intimiteitscoaches of  sekswerkers waar je kan kennismaken met verschillende soorten kinks,  en waar veel aandacht wordt besteed aan consent, veiligheid, afstemming en het energiespel. Kink is zoveel meer dan het uitleven van jouw verlangens. Het is een manier van verbinden met de ander en wat je ook van te voren afspreekt, het is ALTIJD een gelijkwaardige relatie. Dwang, controle en overmacht, vernedering en andere vormen van D/s kan deel van het spel zijn, en moet van te voren heel goed worden doorbesproken. Jij kan een kinkspel te allen tijde stop zetten. Een stopwoord is dus cruciaal. Wil je partner niet overleggen, geen stopwoorden gebruiken, of wil je partner gewoon de controle zonder de hard en soft limits met je te bespreken? Dat is een no-go. Over twee weken deel 2, waarin we verder praten. Wat zijn de essentiële onderdelen van fantastische seks? En wat weet Martijn eigenlijk van Tantra? Begin maar met workshops en events waar zowel tantra als kink worden aangeboden, bijvoorbeeld bij Odessa Amsterdam, Healing Movements en Kyara Skura events en workshops. Kundalini Yoga. Of elk andere yoga die bij jou past. Zoek een yogastudio op bij jou in de buurt en voel wat het voor je doet. In today's episode I'm joined by, not one but two, amazing guests - Kyara Gray and Khalil Uqdah! Kyara and Khalil are Founders of Charm City Buyers. They are passionate about changing the narrative in Baltimore and shifting generations by building wealth through real estate. From recent college grads to full-time entrepreneurs, they have grown their 7-figure real estate empire all before the age of 30 via the “School of Hard Knocks”. With a portfolio of 20+ rentals and an eye for great flip deals, they have their eyes set on showing the masses how to add value to their communities and combat the negative impacts of gentrification through ownership. Kyara and Khalil first share their background story and how they got started in real estate. They have been investing in real estate for almost 10 years. They are extremely focused on how to turn vacant houses into homes, how to build wealth through real estate, how to really impact the community, and change the narrative of when Baltimore comes to mind, not only as just a city, but also as an opportunity to invest in real estate. Before real estate, they were struggling to find their niche, from software companies to sales, but one thing that stayed consistent was their desire for a positive community impact and wealth building. We then talk about their transition from their full-time jobs to entrepreneurship. Kyara explains that she was the one who introduced the idea of real estate to Khalil, but it was his passion for entrepreneurship that opened their minds to the opportunities in real estate. Their transition from full-time jobs to real estate was gradual, they slowly eased into it until they had enough residual income from their rentals that allowed both of them to quit their 9 to 5 jobs. We then move on to talking about financing behind their deals. When it comes to financing, Kyara explains that for them it was crucial to learn and understand how money works. They used different methods and approaches to get access to capital, from working with a nonprofit to using a private lender. Kyara also shares that there are nonprofit lenders all over the country who are focused on building communities, as well as developers who are interested in doing great work in neighborhoods. Khalil shares that they've also been awarded over $3.6 million of tax credits and grants in 2020 and 2021. Next, we talk about how to know where to focus your energy and your efforts. Khalil shares that the most important thing for them was to make sure that there's enough financial income on a residual basis to ensure that they can really pivot and do whatever they want. This is where the rental game came in. They started with rentals but soon decided to start flipping as well because they wanted to add value to the goals and initiatives of Baltimore City and build homeownership. Now, they are taking it a step further working on a large construction project with 50 homes in Baltimore. We also talk about running a business as a couple. Kyara and Khalil share that in the beginning, they were running a pretty small operation where both of them were hands-on as much as possible. Nowadays, they have a team and they both have their own roles and their own responsibilities. One thing that really helps them out is that they're very specific and intentional about defining what it is they're trying to do and accomplish together, and they use that as their Northstar to continue to push forward. Lastly, we talk about why 2021 is a great time to be investing in real estate. Kyara explains that a lot of money is always made in chaos. A lot of people have made a whole lot of money during the last 18 months since the pandemic started. The key is knowing and understanding that even though the market in the MLS is hot right now, there's a lot of other places where you can find deals, particularly off-market. But there are still places that aren't seeing that same level of energy and that changes very, very quickly. This is something that Kyara and Khalil have been really, really vocal about this entire time - don't let what you're hearing scare you away from taking action in the spaces and areas that are going to see so much growth in the next 5 to 10 years because of some of the seeds that are planted right now. You don't have to compete in the MLS with people who are looking to buy their first, second or third home, but taking action now is really going to position you for winning long term. The U.S. Senate has voted to start debating a new Republican health care bill. The move marks a major step forward for President Trump's attempts to repeal and replace Obamacare, even though it remains highly uncertain whether senators will be able to agree on the specifics of a bill. The U.S. believes that North Korea will be able to start production of reliable, nuclear-capable long-range missiles as early as next year, the Washington Post reports. The assessment shaves a full two years from previous reports. It comes amidst possible indications that the reclusive country may be preparing to carry out another missile test in the next few days. A bill to impose new sanctions on Russia, Iran, and North Korea is heading to the U.S. Senate after the House of Representatives overwhelmingly voted in favor. The bill also limits the president's power to waive the sanctions. It's not yet known whether Trump would veto the bill if approved by the Senate. Killer whale Kyara, the 3-month-old calf which was the last to be born as part of SeaWorld's orca breeding program, has died in Texas. The calf died while being treated for an infection, believed to be pneumonia. SeaWorld announced last year that it would stop breeding killer whales. White House Assistant Press Secretary Michael Short has resigned after the incoming director told reporters that he planned to fire him, part of a shake-up of the president's press shop. It comes just days after Press Secretary Sean Spicer said he would resign. The number of cases as a result of an unprecidented dengue outbreak in Sri Lanka has risen to more than 100,000, flooding hospitals with patients and killing more than 300 of them, the health ministry says.
