Harley-Davidson Factory Racing's Kyle Wyman leads the Mission King Of The Baggers Championship heading into this weekend's final round of the series at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Wyman leads S&S/Indian Motorcycle's Troy Herfoss by just two points with the two races at Wyman's home track of NJMP left to run. We caught up with the winningest King Of The Bagger racer in the class on the eve of qualifying for the finale to talk about the title chase, his season, the future, and much more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show

Australian Troy Herfoss will arrive at New Jersey Motorsports Park next week two points behind Kyle Wyman in their battle for the 2024 Mission King Of The Baggers Championship. Two points basically equals winner-take-all. For the umpteenth time this season, Herfoss will have to learn a new track in the first practice session, get up to speed, and ready himself and his S&S/Indian Motorcycle's Challenger for two races that will determine the outcome of the championship. It's going to be fun to watch. We caught up with Herfoss this week to talk about his season thus far and so much more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show

Travis Wyman has gotten used to wearing different team shirts, remembering to change his leathers for almost every session on track, and adapting to different motorcycles quickly over the course of a race weekend. This year, Wyman will be at it again, racing in three different classes - Stock 1000, Mission King Of The Baggers and Mission Super Hooligan National Championship - for two different teams. We chatted with Wyman for this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice about that and much more.Support the show

Kyle is the winningest racer in MotoAmerica King of the Baggers history, with 12 total race wins in the 24 events since the start of the series in the 2021 season, plus the 2021 season championship to his credit. And yet he's hungrier than ever after signing a new two-year contract with Harley-Davidson. “Riding for the Harley-Davidson factory team has been a dream, and I'm excited to be given the opportunity to continue for two more seasons,” said Kyle Wyman. “We've had a lot of success in the class, but we have come up short on the championship two years in a row. Our goal is to win back the title in 2024 and I look forward to getting started with testing in the coming months.” CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! James Rispoli, riding for Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson, won two races in the 2023 King of the Baggers season, plus he scored five second place finishes and three third place finishes for second overall in the championship. He also won back-to-back AMA Pro Racing Supersport championships in 2011-2012. Rispoli fulfills a lifelong dream by joining the Harley-Davidson® Screamin' Eagle® factory racing team. “I am stoked to have signed with Harley-Davidson. It has been a dream of mine to be a factory rider ever since I was a little kid,” said James Rispoli. “Taking confidence and consistency paired with the backing of the factory, I know we are going to be a big threat in 2024. They say that timing is everything and that was definitely the case with Max Flinders earning his first career MotoAmerica podium finish in the very last race of the season at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Flinders finished third in the finale of the Mission King Of The Baggers Championship behind Kyle Wyman and Hayden Gillim and his popularity within the paddock spilled over as it was as popular with his peers as it was with his fans. As Flinders says, "It's kinda cool when Hayden Gillim just wins the championship and he's happier for me than he is for himself." Although he finished runner-up to his Vance & Hines/Mission/Harley-Davidson teammate Hayden Gillim, Rispoli parlayed his results from the 2023 season into the big prize - a seat on the Screamin' Eagle H-D factory team for 2024. Kyle Wyman has spent the entirety of his career doing whatever he can just to make it to the race track, riding whatever bike he could to yield him the best result and at times make him the most marketable to potential sponsors. After conquering the business of racing - out of a pickup truck to owning his own semi hauler and staffing full time employees, Kyle put it all aside to join the Factory Harley Davidson race team to ride a bagger. Though an early adopter of the bagger vision, his decision would pay off and over the course of the last few years bagger racing has exploded world wide. We were able to sit with Kyle and discuss the variety of hurdles he faced throughout his career, from family to injuries and the struggles of maxing out credit cards to make it to the next round. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com I got to spend a day trackside with the Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers riders and the entire race team in Arizona at the Podium Club Racetrack. This was pre-season and a look behind the scenes of a practice and test day. I was given exclusive access and got to hang out inside the large tent the Harley-Davidson race team had set up for this practice week in Arizona.  Inside the tent were the actual 2023 Harley-Davidson King Of The Bagger race bikes in all their glory! While inside the tent, I got to really walk around and examine these bikes and all their modifications.  Harley-Davidson factory rider Kyle Wyman, who rides the #33 bike, and Travis Wyman, who rides the #10 bike, were present and I got to interview and get to know both of them a bit throughout the day. Travis even took me for some hot laps around the Podium Club Racetrack in a 2022 Ford Mustang for a better look and understanding of this track. See the video below for those interviews.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The Harley Race Team had a rather unique week at the racetrack and unseasonable weather for Arizona. The Podium Club Racetrack is only about a 10-minute drive southwest of Casa Grande, Arizona. It was 32 degrees when we hit the track at around 8:00 am this Wednesday and it only warmed to around 50 degrees. Monday it rained all day, only allowing a few laps for the team late in the day and Tuesday it was extremely windy with very large tumbleweeds blowing across the track, making it too dangerous for laps.  The night prior to my arrival at the track, it rained extremely hard, leaving the track with standing water and mud across it in places. Because of this, Kyle and Travis had to wait until the afternoon to finally hit the track. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! It was amazing to see how dedicated the entire Harley race team and riders are to this sport. I watched as the Wyman brothers raced their modified Harley baggers around the track and oh what a sound that is. It's literally music to my ears. If you haven't heard it in person, you really need to get to a race.  After laps, the Wymans would bring their bikes either near or into the tent, where the very dedicated race team would make any changes or modifications to the motorcycle itself or hook it up to a computer for tuning or data acquisition. The entire team works together well and each member has their own duties.  Also, while I was trackside for the day, Harley-Davidson Manager Of Engineering (Screamin' Eagle) and Race Team Manager, Jason Kehl, told us all about a brand new Harley 135 cubic inch performance crate motor they are releasing for 2023. See my 135 crate motor release video and info here. Understand, that these 2023 Harley-Davidson King Of The Baggers motorcycles were not completely done and the team was still tweaking them the day I was with them. So, the bikes you see in the video below may look a bit different than when you see them actually hit the racetrack on March 9-11, 2023 at Daytona, for the first race of the 2023 season! It's Wyman and his H-D Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson Road Glide who will start Sunday's race with a three-point lead over O'Hara and his Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger but that three points might as well be zero because it's basically a winner-take-all scenario. It's been quite a while since Harley-Davidson was involved in road racing, but thanks to the newly conceived King of the Baggers class, The Motor Company is back on paved circuits. Last year the series had less than a handful of rounds, and to their credit, the Harley bagger, piloted by the very capable Kyle Wyman, took the Championship win. Needless to say, turning a bagger into a real race machine wasn't easy. The Harley-Davidson effort consisted of a group of volunteers at the factory who pooled a considerable amount of their time and knowledge in a combined effort to create, develop, and prepare a motorcycle that could race with real credibility. The machine itself is amazing, as you might imagine. And for this week's Podcast, Senior Editor Nic de Sena chats to us about some of the race bike secrets, and of course his ride on Wyman's actual factory race bike at Inde Motorsports Ranch in Arizona. This year, the Moto America King of the Baggers Championship has been extended to seven rounds. They've already raced at Daytona Speed Week for the first round, and it's going to be REAL interesting to see how the remaining rounds shake out.    We hope you enjoy this episode! Check out Nic's story on our website!

Off Track with Carruthers and Bice

On Sunday at Road America, Kyle Wyman experienced the highs and lows of motorcycle racing in a way that seems almost unfathomable. In just a few short hours, Wyman went from winning his first Mission King Of The Baggers race (and Harley-Davidson's first King Of The Baggers victory) and taking over the lead in the series championship, to crashing his Panera Bread Ducati while battling for fourth in the HONOS Superbike race and suffering a badly broken right elbow. It was a cruel finish to what to that point had been an incredible day for Wyman and the Wyman family. But, as he has been forced to do too frequently in his career, Wyman will bounce back. He will painstakingly complete the rehab and he will return to the track as quickly as he can. Returning for the Laguna round is the goal so the New Yorker can try to win the Mission King Of The Baggers Championship. We chatted with Wyman prior to his surgery to discuss his day at Road America and his season thus far on this week's edition of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kylewyman/Twitter: https://twitter.com/KyleWymanFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013269905321Support the show (http://motoamerica.com)

This episode is a great chat with Greg White. If you are already familiar with Greg, you will probably know him as a part of the announcing team for MotoAmerica and as the host of the Greg's Garage Podcast with co-host Jason Pridmore. And if you follow him on social media you have heard of his Greg's Ride 2 the Races. There's also lots of other cool stuff that he does now and has done in the past that we cover. I've been wanting to interview Greg for quite a while since I am a big fan of his podcast and also see him often on TV and Live+ doing commentating and play by play analysis the MotoAmerica road racing series. When I saw his annoucement for Greg's Ride 2 the Races it was the kick in the ass I needed, since I realized...what is cooler than talking about riding motorcycles to go see motorcycle racing? We talk about how Greg's Ride 2 the Races got started, how Greg got into motorcycles and racing, how he transitioned from racing to motorcycle racing TV production and announcing and lots of other stuff...the Kyle Wyman Panera Superbike reveal, his lap around VIR on the Ducati Multistrada V4S, the MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers Class, how motorcycle road racing is all about the tires, and much more! Welcome to another episode of The Reserve Tank presented by Progressive. We will discuss how you can be a better road rider, and how to approach the topic of motorcycle education, because at the end of the day we all can learn something new no matter our skill level.   Featuring co-host Robert Pandya, the host of our sister show, Centerstand: A motorcycle industry podcast, which dives into the business of the motorcycle industry, and how industry leaders can positively affect change.   Our guest is a legendary motorcycle instructor, author, and former Pro AMA racer, Nick Ienatsch. He's also the founder and lead instructor at Yamaha Champions Riding School and strong advocate for all riders that learning how to ride never ends. Key Takeaways: 1. What's stopping motorcyclists from continuing to learn to ride?  2. How can the Yamaha Champions School expand an MSF graduate's rider education? 3. Is there an unfounded fear amongst motorcyclists about track days or going to a track that we can dispel? Yamaha Champions Riding School (YCRS) launched in 2008 at Miller Motorsports Park. YCRS 2.0 launched in 2013 at New Jersey Motorsports Park and still operates there, as well as Inde Motorsports Ranch. In addition, YCRS offers schools annually at Pitt Race, High Plains Raceway, Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Streets of Willow Springs, Carolina Motorsports Park, Palm Beach International Raceway, Homestead Raceway, Arizona Motorsports Park, The Ridge Raceway, and Sepang International Raceway. Yamaha Champions is a leading provider of Level 3 rider training for the United States Marine Corps. They provide a variety of programs, from four-hour street clinics to two-day ChampSchools, and have several OEM groups of engineers who attend on an annual basis. This episode is a great discussion with Scott Rybarik. Scott works to support the expansion of the sport of motorcycling in more ways than I can count...including as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School. As Scott says in his bio, "the motorcycling community has become an extension of my family, and I want to help others become better, safer and faster riders." Scott and I talk about lots of topics related to motorcycles and motorcycling, including community, running clubs, managing risk and performance, how people learn new skills, taking kids racing, the lessons of motorcycling that relate to other parts of life, modern motorcycle electronics and tires and are they too good, and much, much more. She's also the wife of MotoAmerica Superbike racer Kyle Wyman so to say she's deeply involved in MotoAmerica would be an understatement. In this episode I have a good old chinwag with Tony Sherriff, who did all types of motorcycle racing in the 1960s and 70s in New Zealand and Australia. Tony shares a lot of stories related to racing both on and off the track. We touch a little bit on how motorcycle technology has changed over the years, but much of what we discuss highlights the fact that while the motorcycles and the equipment have evolved over the years, the true spirit, adventure and excitement of motorcycles and motorcycle racing has definitely stayed the same…or maybe like a fine wine has gotten even better with age! In this episode I talk with MotoAmerica Superbike racer Kyle Wyman who grew up in the Harley-Davidson dealership that was started by his grandfather in 1962. Both of his parents drag raced cars and motorcycles at the professional level, and he has been racing motorcycles since he was 8 years old. Kyle became a professional motorcycle racer at age 16 and he raced flat track for several years until switching to motorcycle road racing with his two younger brothers. Kyle has owned his own race team for many years and now Kyle Wyman Racing is fielding a Ducati Panigale V4 R in the MotoAmerica Superbike series, which Kyle is riding himself. Kyle has also been a motorcycle riding and racing instructor since 2014 and he recently started his own online motorcycle training school, KWR Coaching, which is open to riders of all experience levels. Kyle and I talk about his many years of motorcycle racing in different formats and how he came to form his own privateer racing team. We also talk a little bit about the 17 surgeries that he has had over the years as a result of the various crashes he has had in his racing career, but more importantly we talk about his racing gear and the ways in which good gear has protected Kyle in various crashes and in many cases reduced or eliminated injury. If riding the raucous XR1200 and the Brammo E-road racer was not enough diversity for you, she teaches other ladies the art of racing and on occasion dons umbrella girl apparel and wows them on pit road. A new element in the mix is her growing interest in flat track. We talk about all that and Shelina's plans for this season.   Host, Barry Boone, will summarize and comment on the conversation from last weeks show with David Lloyd of Lloyd Brothers Motorsports Ducati Team concerning the future of professional flat track in America. We reflect on the conversation and discuss the highlights revealed.   Join us tonight at 8pm Eastern on Talking Motorcycles with Barry Boone.
