Egg prices have been anything but stable in recent years, and behind every price shift is a complex web of market forces. In this episode, we sit down with Karyn Rispoli, Managing Editor of Eggs at Expana, to break down how egg pricing really works. From avian influenza outbreaks wiping out millions of layers to shifting market dynamics and the intricacies of price reporting, we explore why the egg industry is so volatile—and what that means for producers, buyers, and everyone in between.Karyn sheds light on the challenges of market reporting, the common misconceptions about price assessments, and the balancing act of gathering accurate data in an industry where even a few cents per dozen can have massive financial implications. Unlock the secrets of the egg industry as Karyn Rispoli, an undeniable force in agricultural market reporting, joins us for an insightful discussion on what really goes into the price of your morning scramble. With her unique blend of New Jersey charisma and an unexpected passion for college rugby, Karyn sheds light on the cyclical dance of egg economics, drawing laughter with a nod to cultural meme phenomenons. Together, we peel back the layers of Urner Barry's crucial role in price reporting and dissect the cultural influence of names like "Brandon" and "Karyn" that have taken hold of the public's imagination. The conversation gets even richer as we crack into the factors that sway the cost of eggs, from seasonal trends to the ebb and flow of demand. The comparison of eggs to oil might surprise some, but the parallels are uncanny when you consider the global impact of supply chains. If you're tiptoeing into the industry or are a familiar face in the egg aisle, our exchange serves as a roadmap to navigate the often-underestimated complexity of this staple commodity. Hear how sustainability and innovation are not just buzzwords, but the future trajectory for egg producers, and pick up tips on making informed choices the next time you're faced with the vast array of egg options. But this episode isn't just about the business of eggs; it's a celebration of personal journeys and the strength we discover in ourselves when faced with adversity. Sharing tales of resilience and adaptability, learn how embracing change, much like the egg industry itself, can reveal new horizons in both professional and personal landscapes. Karyn and I reflect on those pivotal moments that define us, drawing analogies to Eleanor Roosevelt's metaphor of strength, and proving that, like a tea bag, we're often stronger than we think. Right now is a pretty good time to be James Rispoli. Rispoli finished second in the 2023 Mission King Of The Baggers Championship after being in the title fight to the bitter end in the season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Although he finished runner-up to his Vance & Hines/Mission/Harley-Davidson teammate Hayden Gillim, Rispoli parlayed his results from the 2023 season into the big prize - a seat on the Screamin' Eagle H-D factory team for 2024. Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.02.07.525548v1?rss=1 Authors: Schone, H. R., Udeozor, M., Moninghoff, M., Rispoli, B., Vandersea, J., Lock, B., Hargrove, L., Makin, T. R., Baker, C. I. Abstract: A longstanding engineering ambition has been to design anthropomorphic bionic limbs: devices that look like and are controlled in the same way as the biological body (biomimetic). The untested assumption is that biomimetic motor control enhances device embodiment, learning, generalization, and automaticity. To test this, we compared biomimetic and non-biomimetic control strategies for able-bodied participants when learning to operate a wearable myoelectric bionic hand. We compared motor learning across days and behavioural tasks for two training groups: Biomimetic (mimicking the desired bionic hand gesture with biological hand) and Arbitrary control (mapping an unrelated biological hand gesture with the desired bionic gesture). For both trained groups, training improved bionic limb control, reduced cognitive reliance, and increased embodiment over the bionic hand. Biomimetic users had more intuitive and faster control early in training. Arbitrary users matched biomimetic performance later in training. Further, arbitrary users showed increased generalization to a novel control strategy. Collectively, our findings suggest that biomimetic and arbitrary control strategies provide different benefits. The optimal strategy is likely not strictly biomimetic, but rather a flexible strategy within the biomimetic to arbitrary spectrum, depending on the user, available training opportunities and user requirements. James Rispoli has been around the racing block. He started in dirt track, went road racing (and won two AMA Supersport titles), went to England to road race in BSB in both Supersport and Superbike, came back to race more dirt track, won the 2020 AFT Production Twins title, dabbled a bit more in road racing and, lo and behold, discovered the MotoAmerica Mission King Of The Baggers Championship. Love at first sight? It seems so as Rispoli earned two podium finishes last year en route to sixth in the championship and has recently inked a deal that will see him race a full season of King Of the Baggers on the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson team in 2023. Welcome back to the Rock 'n Roll Ghost Podcast. On this week's episode, the Ghost speaks with actor Michael Rispoli (The Sopranos) about his new role in Paramount Plus' series, The Offer, about the making of the historic gangster film The Godfather. In the film, Rispoli plays real life crime boss Tommy Lucchese, who was central to the film's producer Albert S. Ruddy's needs to film in New York City. Rispoli discusses his role in the series, but digs deeper when discussion hits on his time on The Sopranos, including his nearly being cast in the role of Tony Soprano and his friendship with James Gandolfini (who, of course, was Tony) that predated the series.
Space Station is an artist's paradise. It offers workshops, classes and it's an affordable place to cast, and even offers actors a free place to tape auditions and pieces for their reel. I sat down with David Rispoli and Ben Rovner to hear all about this unique operation, as well as their Space Station Artist's Initiative. Their mission is to provide an all-encompassing education for the artists in our community. We deliver unique and diverse seminars, classes, and intensives for all ages and experience levels. Our priority is to remain affordable, practical, and inspiring. Thanks, Jordan This episode is just under a whopping 90 minutes.
