«Mi sento come un vigore non solito, quando lavoro la pietra o quando lavoro il legno. La materia mi guida, sviluppa la fantasia.» Sono parole dello scultore Giovanni Genucchi, tratte da un'intervista realizzata nel suo atelier nel febbraio del 1969. L'opera dell'artista bleniese, uno dei maggiori scultori ticinesi del Novecento, è ora racchiusa nel catalogo ragionato delle opere, a cura della Fondazione Atelier Genucchi di Castro, edito da Casagrande. Oltre 700 le opere presentate, suddivise in due grandi ambiti – sacro e profano –; una classificazione che mette in evidenza le qualità di sperimentatore di Genucchi che ha sempre privilegiato il rapporto con i materiali, in particolare con il legno e con la pietra. Formatosi nell'intaglio del legno decorativo, Genucchi ha proseguito il suo percorso artistico da autodidatta, divenendo uno scultore coerente, autentico e sincero, in equilibrio tra arcaico e moderno, tra astrazione e figurazione, in una ricerca di armonia e di semplificazione che aveva origine dallo studio approfondito della natura. Il catalogo delle opere consente ora di avere una visione nuova e più completa del percorso artistico di questo scultore, riscoprendo anche aspetti meno noti della sua produzione, grazie anche a un ricco apparato fotografico.Ne parleremo con i nostri ospiti: Michele Martinoni, presidente della Fondazione Atelier Genucchi di Castro, uno spazio dove sono conservati attrezzi, modelli e gessi dello scultore e sempre visibili al pubblico, e lo storico e critico d'arte Matteo Bianchi, già direttore del Museo Villa dei Cedri, che possiede un importante fondo delle opere di Genucchi. E un nuovo sguardo – ma in questo caso sulla storia di un paese come la Mongolia, che evoca immagini nostalgiche di natura incontaminata e steppe sterminate – intende proporre al pubblico la nuova mostra in corso al Museo Rietberg di Zurigo fino al 22 febbraio. Si chiama Albert Müller».È l'incipit dei ragazzi di Obino, il primo dei racconti dell'ultimo libro di Alberto Nessi, dal titolo In cerca della luce, storie di artisti venuti in Ticino, edizioni Casagrande. Abbiamo incontrato il poeta e scrittore nella sua casa in Valle di Muggio per parlare della luce che inseguivano quei pittori nordici che si erano rifugiati e trasferiti a sud della Alpi nella prima metà del Novecento.Ci sono i pittori basilesi del Rot-Blau che stravolgono la dolcezza dei paesaggi del Mendrisiotto, ci sono le vite tragiche di Jean Corty e di Robert Schürch; c'è anche l'esule russa Marianne Werefkin e tanti altri. Tutti consumati da una ricerca artistica che li porta, in alcuni casi, a sacrificare la propria vita, o a vivere ai margini di una società troppo conformista. Storie di perdita, a volte illuminate dalla luce dell'amicizia, dell'amore e dell'arte.Per la mostra della settimana vi portiamo a Palazzo Reali di Lugano, che sta per riaprire dopo la chiusura per lavori di ristrutturazione: la sede del Masi nel centro di Lugano propone un percorso sull'autoritratto con opere dalla collezione. La nostra guida attraverso le sale ancora in allestimento è la curatrice, Cristina Sonderegger.

È un passaggio tratto dall'autobiografia di Meret Oppenheim – appena pubblicata dalle edizioni Casagrande in traduzione italiana: un testo incompleto e mai pubblicato, eppure il testo autobiografico più completo redatto dall'artista nell'ultima fase della sua vita, trascorsa a seguire la propria vocazione, sfidando convenzioni sociali e radicati pregiudizi. Un racconto sintetico, controllato, quasi distaccato dei momenti salienti del suo percorso artistico e personale; dalle sessioni delle famose fotografie per Man Ray, alla separazione da Max Ernst alla genesi di opere iconiche come Colazione in pelliccia. Un racconto sorprendente che fornisce una chiave ulteriore per accedere alla sua opera multiforme e il suo pensiero. Voci dipinte a colloquio con la storica dell'arte Martina Corgnati. Per la mostra della settimana Lou Lepori ci porta alla scoperta dell'art déco, laddove tutto è cominciato, esattamente cento anni fa al Musée des arts décoratifs d Parigi.

Il volume Un ardente desiderio di primavera, edito da Casagrande, nella curatela e traduzione di Danilo Baratti e Patrizia Candolfi, con uno scritto di Nicola Schoenenberger, presenta una piccola parte della ricca corrispondenza della Luxemburg, ci sono anche le tavole del suo erbario. Lettere nelle quali racconta le sue prigioni e gli incontri che hanno illuminato anni molto difficili. Con 8.6 gradi di separazione, romanzo edito da Nottetempo, conosceremo poi Alice, donna adulta e dipendente dall'alcol e dagli psicofarmaci. La scrittrice vicentina Giulia Scomazzon ha trovato una voce originale per dare corpo al disagio, senza pietismo e autocommiserazione perché la sua protagonista ha un piglio ironico e scanzonato che incanta per lucidità e analisi. Sfoglieremo infine I Taccuini di Norimberga dello psichiatra americano Leon Goldensohn, un documento unico per capire come si diventa nazisti. Un epistolario, un romanzo e un saggio daranno senso al proposito di “Alice”, parlare di libri, conoscere le storie e capire le idee.    undefinedundefinedundefined
