Et c'est une fleur. Plus qu'une fleur, ce sont les pistils de la crocus sativus qui vont vous faire casser votre PEL. Cette fleur violette donne naissance à l'or rouge. Une épice qui parfume et colore les plats comme aucune autre. c'est…c'est…c'est…vous l'avez à la maison…le safran ! Oui, le safran peut coûter entre 30 000 à 45 000 euros du kilo. Du kilo ! C'est trois fois plus cher que le plus rare des caviars. Le safran est excessivement cher parce qu'il est difficile à produire. Les fleurs de crocus violettes fleurissent au début de l'automne, elles ne survivent qu'une journée à deux max et le joyau à l'intérieur est très fragile. Les pistils doivent être récoltés à la main, tôt dans la journée avant qu'il ne fasse trop chaud. Puis, il faut les sécher lentement au soleil ou à très basse température. Chaque pistil contient 3 filaments de safran. Il faudrait des milliers de fleurs pour produire une centaine de grammes de safran. L'épice est connue pour ses bienfaits sur la santé depuis l'Antiquité. Elle est antioxydante, favorise la digestion, elle aurait même des vertus antidépressives. Le safran trouve ses origines sur l'île de Crète mais on produit du safran partout dans le monde, en Iran et en Inde, gros producteurs et aussi en Europe. En Espagne notamment, elle est réputée en France et même en Normandie ! Eh oui, je ramène ma pomme !  Et quand un met est rare et cher, il y a toujours possibilité de tromper le consommateur. Parfois, les mélanges dit de safran sont en fait composé de poudre de curcuma, une autre épice qui donne, elle aussi, une jolie couleur à vos plats mais n'a pas du tout le même goût. Autre substitut bien moins cher, le carthame. On l'appelle le safran des teinturiers ou safran bâtard. Ses fleurs ressemblent au chardon et sont d'une belle couleur rouge orangée. Mieux vaut utiliser son huile sur la peau que dans la poêle. Pour cuisiner le vrai safran et développer toutes ses saveurs, le mieux, c'est de le laisser infuser dans une petite quantité de liquide chaud mais pas bouillant, de l'eau tout simplement. It's was a weekend without fights, but that won't stop us from having a episode ready for our KOB faithful! With no fights to recap, we start the episode different than we usually do. This week we start off with the hot button topic of Aljamain Sterling and Dana White's back and forth in the media. We answer the question, is the UFC rushing Aljo to quickly in order to make a fight with him and Omalley. And is Aljo risking alot by taking this fight despite not being sure if he'll be healthy enough to perform to the level we've come accustom to. Sticking with the news we talk about some more Dana White and Francis comments, Jon Jones and Tyson Fury's back and forth, Bellator adding a fly weight division and more. After that we move into a nerdy but fun segment that we are calling UFC 500. In Indiana, where we are from and live, this weekend is all about the Indy 500 race. With that in mind, we created a segment where we took the UFC PPV numbers and chose main events from those fights that are memorable to us, only the sum of the PPVs had to equal 500! Lastly we give our picks/predictions for this weekends fight night card headlined by Kai Kara-France verse Amir Albazi. We also pick for 3 other fights as this card seems to be more loaded than it would seem on first glance. It's another Monday so that means another KOB episode coming straight at you! We start this episode breaking down an amazing statement performance by Erin Blanchfield, as she gets a huge submission victory over former title holder Jessica Andrade. We also give a recap of the other fight that we featured last week which was Alex Hernandez verses Jim Miller, that fight saw Alex putting on a gutsy performance to get the decision victory over the rowdy vet. From there, we jump into our picks and predictions for this coming weekend's UFC Fight Night Spann vs Krylov. Outside of the main event we also made picks for a great fight in the middleweight division between Andre Muniz and Brendan Allen. We then do a new segment where we give our UFC Division Power Rankings.
