Australian Troy Herfoss will arrive at New Jersey Motorsports Park next week two points behind Kyle Wyman in their battle for the 2024 Mission King Of The Baggers Championship. To say that Ben Gloddy had a rough 2023 MotoAmerica season would be an understatement. As one of the favorites to challenge for the Twins Cup Championship, Gloddy's season unraveled before it really got started as a crash in the first race of the season at Daytona left him with severe injuries. It wasn't until the final round of the season at New Jersey Motorsports Park that Gloddy returned to action and his results were impressive with fourth- and fifth-place finishes in the two races. Stefano Mesa won his first MotoAmerica Supersport race of the year in race one at Pittsburgh International Race Complex a few weeks ago. The next day he followed up his victory with another podium finish - his sixth of the year - to end the weekend third in the championship and only 13 points out of second. This week the news broke that Mesa was foregoing the Supersport class after getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance to race a full-blown, race-winning BMW M 1000 R Superbike vacated by the injured Cameron Beaubier for the Tytlers Cycle Racing team. It's Wyman and his H-D Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson Road Glide who will start Sunday's race with a three-point lead over O'Hara and his Mission Foods/S&S Cycle/Indian Challenger but that three points might as well be zero because it's basically a winner-take-all scenario. About Ryan Shehan and Ryan Shehan Racing: Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport sophomore Ryan Shehan scored his first F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda win this past weekend in the first race of a triple header at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP). The young driver has been a breakout star this season claiming podium after podium and those following him have been waiting with bated breath for this moment. Shehan's first F4 career win comes from a penalty assessed to the winner of race one, moving Shehan into the top position on the results sheets. After crossing the line .038 seconds behind in second place, a post-race call by officials relegated the initial winner down to sixth, and Shehan to the top step of the podium. “It feels really good. Getting that first win is a big deal and gives you a lot of momentum throughout the rest of the season,” explained Shehan, “It has been something that we have been fighting for all season long. With the first win now out of the way, I am hungrier for more and can hopefully close the gap in the points championship.” With two races on the schedule for Sunday, Shehan couldn't let his first win excitement get the better of him. His had to be laser focused as tough competition fought in his rearview mirrors. Starting sixth, Shehan battled to a third-place result in race two on Sunday morning and then added a second-place finish in race three for a triple podium weekend. Standing on all three steps of the podium over the course of three races, the young Texan proved nothing could rattle him and that he is a force to be reckoned with as the series has two event weekends remaining to determine a champion. Motivated to a victory, two new partners joined Shehan on track this weekend via the Pathfinder Program. Members Michael and Stephanie Johnson and Marc and Kristen King were represented on each side of Shehan's car by their names and a Pathfinder logo as they helped fund him to victory at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Shehan added, “It was the first weekend for two of our new Pathfinders, and to represent them on the top step of the podium with a win, and three podium results in total in their first weekend is such an accomplishment. This weekend is proof that hard work both on and off the track does pay off!”

Faced with a new bike, a new team, a new series, a new country and new on-track rivals, the Frenchman has done much better than he thinks. He's currently fifth in the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship with six podiums and he'd be much higher in the title chase if not for the five non-finishes. We caught up with Baz at New Jersey Motorsports Park for the penultimate round of the series and this week's 150th edition of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show (http://motoamerica.com)

We will discuss how you can be a better road rider, and how to approach the topic of motorcycle education, because at the end of the day we all can learn something new no matter our skill level.   Featuring co-host Robert Pandya, the host of our sister show, Centerstand: A motorcycle industry podcast, which dives into the business of the motorcycle industry, and how industry leaders can positively affect change.   Our guest is a legendary motorcycle instructor, author, and former Pro AMA racer, Nick Ienatsch. He's also the founder and lead instructor at Yamaha Champions Riding School and strong advocate for all riders that learning how to ride never ends. Key Takeaways: 1. What's stopping motorcyclists from continuing to learn to ride?  2. How can the Yamaha Champions School expand an MSF graduate's rider education? 3. Is there an unfounded fear amongst motorcyclists about track days or going to a track that we can dispel? Yamaha Champions Riding School (YCRS) launched in 2008 at Miller Motorsports Park. YCRS 2.0 launched in 2013 at New Jersey Motorsports Park and still operates there, as well as Inde Motorsports Ranch. In addition, YCRS offers schools annually at Pitt Race, High Plains Raceway, Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Streets of Willow Springs, Carolina Motorsports Park, Palm Beach International Raceway, Homestead Raceway, Arizona Motorsports Park, The Ridge Raceway, and Sepang International Raceway. Yamaha Champions is a leading provider of Level 3 rider training for the United States Marine Corps. They provide a variety of programs, from four-hour street clinics to two-day ChampSchools, and have several OEM groups of engineers who attend on an annual basis. I also thank my new podcast supporters and announce the new Podcast Supporter page on my web site and the various support levels. I revisit Shane Patilla's question on shopping for gear, and I talk about helmet standards and helmet shelf life as well as provide some guidelines on the basic gear a rider needs…helmet, jacket, pants, boots and gloves. I mention things to consider when shopping for gear, including close-out deals and counterfeits. And I discuss my New Year’s resolutions regarding the podcast and my own riding this year. I cover my first ride of the new year on the Isle of Man(hattan) ride. And I go over my plans for the podcast and my plans for California Superbike School, other rider training and Motojitsu. I cover my plans for the motorcycle races I want to attend in 2020 and end off with some tips on heated gear that fits snugly, avoiding hypothermia, and choosing and modifying gear so it is easy to use with your riding gloves on. In this episode I have a really cool chat with Robby Cichielo Jr, in which we discuss how he got into motorcycling, why he prefers riding on the track, and the amazing experiences he has had as an endurance racer, as a racer in the MotoAmerica Twins Cup Series, and as an instructor and coach for N2 Track Days. We also talk about how motorcycles are the great equalizer and how motorcycling brings people together from all kinds of backgrounds and all walks of life. The shared love of motorcycles and motorcycling seems to know no boundaries and melts away differences in gender, race, religion, nationality, economics and the other things that sometimes put up barriers between people. In a nutshell, when true motorcyclists put on their gear and throw a leg over their bike, they are all very much of the same heart and spirit, and they all share a very special bond, one with another. We talk about Robby's experience riding motorcycles, including starting on a Suzuki SV650 at age 14, about 13 years ago. He had a Suzuki GSX-R for a while and eventually bought back his original SV650, which then led to getting started racing in the MotoAmerica Twins Cup Series. We go over how Twins Cup is very much a builder series and how riders and mechanics take bikes like the SV650 and other street bikes which are really designed and intended to be daily commuters and turn them into race machines with souped-up motors and more torque. We also talk about how Robby had to learn how to race the SV650, as it's not a pure race bike and requires a slightly different technique. And we talk about Robby's experience in endurance racing as a member of the 4 Dudes on a Twin race team. I also mention that now that I have read quite a few books about motorcycles and riding technique, I decided it is time to put my understanding to the test and see how well I can apply what I've learned. That's why I want to start riding on the track, and why I recently signed up for the 2-Day Camp with California Superbike School at New Jersey Motorsports Park in May 2020. Robby talks about the fact that often it is easier to teach less experienced street riders good riding technique on the track, as they haven't developed a lot of bad habits that can be hard to get people to break. He sometimes runs into "beginner techniques" that are taught in some basic rider training classes that then have to be unlearned. On the same theme, we talk about how strider bikes have been a great improvement over the bicycles with training wheels that many of us had when we learned to ride on two wheels, as strider bikes are two wheel vehicles and behave like two wheel vehicles, so kids learn balance and counter-steering. Whereas tricycles and bicycles with training wheels behave differently and don't teach the skills needed to ride a two wheeled vehicle. Robby and I also touch upon how buying and owning good, quality riding or track gear is an investment in yourself! Talking Motorcycles shines it's spotlight back on the MotoAmerica series in this edition of the show! Only one round remains in the AMA Superbike series and it happens September 9, 10 and 11 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This classic venue is the perfect place to end the season and it is a "must see" event for America's road racing fans. In this episode of the show we feature three stars of the series one on one. Hayden Gillim is a Man with a Van and a Plan! He is traveling back and forth across America in his Cycle World van racing his Suzuki's on dirt and asphalt old school style much the same way Mert Lawill and others have done it in the past. We get his take on the great adventure and some insight into what this season has meant to him as well as what his plan may be going forward! Cameron Beaubier has a 29 point advantage going into the final round. We discuss the terrible start on the 2016 season and how he and the team were able to overcome the early season deficit to be in a position to win his second AMA Superbike championship in a row! Beaubier gives us his take on riding the Pata Yamaha at Donington and his thoughts on racing abroad vs in America! Josh Herrin won 6 events in a row to clinch the Superbike 1000 championship at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. That creates the possibility of perhaps adding two additional wins to his season total with no pressure at NJMP. We get the back stories of his Meen Motorsports team and what the championship means to Meen! Talking Motorcycles with Barry Boone is powered by Crosley Brands!
