Year 1 was... not good. Russell Westbrook arrived with a lot of fanfare (and a lot of trepidation on the part of fans and pundits alike) and almost from the jump nothing went well. The fit was bad, the team lost, and lost and lost some more and all the while Westbrook didn't play particularly well. And then there was finger pointing, a lack of self-awareness and accountability when it was all done. Westbrook famously lit up LeBron James and Anthony Davis in his exit interview. Most people assumed the Lakers would do ANYTHING to get rid of Westbrook, but then the summer came, and suddenly Westbrook looked like a guy who might be around for a while. Not because the Lakers necessarily want it that way, but because trading him is really hard. And since, Westbrook has tried really hard to look like a guy fitting in. He's showed up at press conferences for Darvin Ham and Patrick Beverley. He threw Pat Bev a towel and engaged him in a super awkward bro hug. Ham has praised Westbrook's attitude. And a few listeners have noticed, and even grown sympathetic. Feeling bad for how awkward it has become for someone of his stature. Is sympathy deserved? What about empathy? Or is antipathy, and only that, all he deserves? The answer wraps in all sorts of complicated things about the nature of elite level athletes. Of course, all of this changes if Westbrook decides he's not a guy who is willing to accept a buyout, which would make it more complicated for the Lakers to trade him. Is he that proud? Meanwhile, Pau Gasol is in line to join the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025. Right now, at least, it looks like Gasol might be the only NBA player in that class, providing a unique spotlight and focus for a guy who spent so much of his career playing a supporting role. Now, though, he plays a different one. So much of Gasol's legacy now is seen in through the prism of Kobe Bryant's death. Kobe would have been a huge part of Pau's jersey retirement next spring at the Crypt. He almost certainly would have introduced and inducted Pau into the Hall (where only other HOFers get to do that sort of thing). None of that, sadly, is going to happen. If there's anyone perfect for carrying that kind of responsibility, and continuing to share the spotlight, it's Pau. HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: Is it possible Westbrook is ... a sympathetic figure at this point? Maybe even a little? SEGMENT 2: Is sympathy the right word? Maybe empathy? What if he decides he's unwilling to be bought out by a team he's traded to? SEGMENT 3: Looking ahead at Pau Gasol's HOF induction in 2025, and everything that comes with it. LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony all sat out of the Lakers' loss to the Warriors up in San Francisco,. So how are fans reacting to the stars sitting out? Some, at least, are bringing up comparisons to Kobe Bryant, and suggesting that LeBron is sitting at a time when Kobe would have played. Meanwhile, Talen Horton-Tucker went off for a career high 40 points against Golden State. On the one hand, that's awesome! 40 is a lot, and good for him. It certainly can't hurt to do a little image rehab in a season that has, overall, been a real disappointment for THT. But do nights like this one actually add any clarity to his future? As trade bait, or in a (hopefully) revamped Lakers rotation? Finally, if the Lakers are going to fix what ails them, it will need to start with everyone understanding their role in how the franchise has arrived at this point. Players, management, coaching, and down the line. Is the front office off to a good start, in this regard? HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky SEGMENT 1: What happens when fans use the memory and mythology of Kobe as a weapon against other players? The Lakers had a busy weekend, winning an inspiring game Friday in Toronto before Saturday in Washington in a most irritating way, one this team has been prone to all year. Bad defensive decisions, questionable coaching, cold and stagnant offense, horrible turnovers and so on. It was a reminder that this team isn't unpopular with fans because they lose - though that obviously doesn't help - but because how they often lose makes these Lakers hard to like.Meanwhile, LeBron James passed Karl Malone for second on the NBA's all time scoring list Saturday... and while obviously people noticed, the reception, particularly locally, hasn't been overwhelming. Is it just because the team is losing? What else is in play, here?It touches on LeBron's tenure in LA, the legacy of Kobe, how we view individual achievement, and more. And as he closes in on Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at a time when the Lakers are (at least currently) reeling, his continued accomplishments may not be viewed locally with a level of love some might expect.HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: The Lakers lose in Washington in extremely Laker-y fashion.SEGMENT 2: How the Lakers lost Saturday is a great explainer of why this team is so unpopular with Lakers fans.SEGMENT 3: LeBron is doing some amazing stuff and racking up impressive records... but locally is met with respect, but not overwhelming love.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!PrizePicksCheck out PrizePicks.com and use promo code: “NBA” or go to your app store and download the app today. Warriors forward Draymond Green RIPS Laker fans for BOOING LeBron James! | NBA Players are WEAK!
@Kameron_Hay & @Unwrittenrul3s stop by and break down the Lakers and what's plagued them this season
The Lakers are one game under 500 as LeBron James turns 37 years old. Fixing this team will be really tough so I asked Laker fans how to do it. The problem is that Laker fans have a reputation of being bandwagon, “casual” fans who won't be smart enough to have a solid plan but we found enough diehard fans to fix this team.
Rob Parker joins the show as we further discuss Kelly Stafford's issue with Fred, Matthew Staffords recent struggles and the Lakers. Speaking of the Lakers, a twitter study says that Laker fans complain more than any other fan base in the NBA.
Adam Auslund hops on to discuss the Bucks winning the NBA title and the off-season outlook for the Lakers and the Clippers. We ask the question: Do Laker fans want Chris Paul? Even at an inflated price point?
Adam Auslund hops on to talk about the Clippers' future after they were eliminated by the Suns. We ask the question: Do Laker fans have a newfound respect for the Clippers after their playoff run?
Should Laker Fans be cheering for the Clippers? Clippers Coach Ty Lue thinks so, so the fellas reacted. Travis and Sli think it's impossible for Laker Fans to just all of sudden cheer for the "other guy." Plus, how are the Dodgers still winning with all of their injuries? And, are the new rule chnages in Baseball going to ruin the game? Also, talk on Ben Simmons/76ers, the streaker at the U.S. Open. and the "Dump." Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, I talk about why Laker fans should be encouraged after Lebron and company narrowly beat the Warriors, and at the end of the episode I talk about the chances I give the Warriors to potentially upset the Jazz if they beat the Grizzlies tonight.
Gary Kester and Honi Ahmadian discuss their takeaways from the Lakers' current three-game win streak and look ahead at potential playoff matchups for the purple and gold.

Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report discusses the LGBT for Trump supporters he met, the Amy Coney Barrett hearing, and how L.A. Laker Fans celebrate after their team won the NBA Finals. While the media continues to pretend that Donald Trump refuses to denounce white supremacy, there are many people not buying the pushing of the "Trump is a racist" narrative. Dave describes the many Trump supporters he met this past weekend at a Trump rally In Beverly Hills. He met all the people the media pretends don’t exist like Latinos for Trump, gays for Trump and more. Dave also gives his reaction to the Amy Coney Barrett hearings to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Finally Dave gives his thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers winning the NBA playoffs and the riots outside the Staples Center that followed that will definitely not be considered a super spreader event by anyone in the media. People cared about the LAKERS when the basketball season hadn't officially started, well let me say LAKER FANS cared about the Lakers, but now that the season is underway, since this past Tuesday, people are really eager. They want to know the KOBE status, and let's be clear, long before KOBE, there were the Kareem days, the MAGIC days, the sky hook, ROBERT HORRE I think I spelled his name correctly - Derek Fisher now a coach somewhere, hey I'm not a LAKERS fan, so don't start raggin' on me. Happy Birthday Lil LakerGurl REBROADCAS Okay, I know there are a lot of LAKER FANS out there - they have built an incredible legacy. And I'm not talking about the sometime fan, who catches a game here and there, I'm talking about a season ticket holder, maybe a fan that catches the game anywhere he can, at home, at a bar, a watch party and is SICK if he/she misses a game, or sick when they lose. Or I could be referring to STEPHANIE THE LAKER GURL BEARD enough said - 347-205-9366
