On this week's episode of Unclear and Present Danger, Jamelle, John and special guest Laura Hudson (formerly of Wired and The Verge) watched the 1995 cyber-thriller “Hackers,” directed by Ian Softley and starring Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie, Fisher Stevens and Lorraine Bracco, with supporting roles for Matthew Lillard, Penn Jillette, Wendell Pierce, Marc Anthony and Felicity Huffman.“Hackers” centers on Dade Murphy, alias “Zero Cool,” who made hacking history 7 years before the events of the film when he crashed 1,507 computer systems and was banned from owning or operating computers and touch-tone telephones until his 18th birthday. On his 18th birthday, he finds himself living in New York with his mother and attending a new high school, where he falls into a crowd of teen hacker. There's Ramon, the Phantom Phreak. Emmanuel “Cereal Killer” Goldstein, Paul “Lord Nikon” Cook and Kate “Acid Burn” Libby, Dade's hacking rival and romantic interest. One night, one of the youngest hackers in the group, Joey, breaks into a supercomputer owned by a large energy company. He is noticed and arrested by the US Secret Service, which is working with the company's security officer. Unbeknownst to the Secret Service or anyone else for that matter, the security officer — Eugene “The Plague” Belford — has essentially orchestrated a scheme in which Joey and other hackers are to be blamed for a virus he created, whose purpose is to extort millions from the company into a private account. Thus begins a race: Belford is desperate to get the only evidence of the virus, downloaded by Joey before he was arrested, and our teen hacker heroes are trying to clear their names and get to the bottom of this conspiracy. The tagline for “Hackers” was, of course, “Hack the planet!”You can find “Hackers” to rent or buy on iTunes and Amazon. Our next film is the 1995 cyberpunk thriller, “Johnny Mnemonic.”Connor Lynch produced this episode. In this episode, we debate one of the most important questions in international relations and nuclear policy today: are the dragons in Game of Thrones more like nuclear weapons or conventional air power? Does George R.R. Martin deploy the dragons as analogs for nuclear weapons? Do dragons serve more of a conventional air power or close air support role in the story's military battles? Perhaps the dragons themselves aspire to be artists and bakers rather than being typecast as weapons of war? Tim Westmyer (@nuclearpodcast) and Dr. Michael C. Horowitz (@mchorowitz) answer these questions and more. This episode of Sailor Business, we discuss quite possibly the most well-made piece of art about an angelic boxing priest/vulture monster ever created. We know there is some stiff competition from things like Citizen Boxing Priest Monster and Gone With the Wind and the Priest with Boxing Gloves and Bird Feet...but I think it wins. We'll see what special guest Laura Hudson thinks about it...

Harbinger Vol 2 #1, Higher Earth #1 Jimmy is joined in studio by old pal Kevin Conn (I Hate Earth).  The boys chat about the Arrowand Spider-Man trailer. The Tony awards (especially Wolverine aka Hugh Jackman) are discussed as well as the recent disproportionate Catwoman comic book cover. Which then leads into a small (and rare serious) discussion of the new Tomb Raider trailer and how women are portrayed in games and comics in general. News includes: DC cancellations and new titles announced, Batman to finally appear in Smallville, Archie Comics CEOs settle in court and Laura Hudson leaves Comics Alliance. As always, listener feedback, the Top 3 and more! Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love!

This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by Comics Alliance, no matter which member of their team is joining is. This week, Chris Sims sits in for Laura Hudson, who was feeling under the weather and couldn't sit in for Evie, who is in Austin, sitting in her hotel room writing a zillion articles about SXSW. Lots of sitting in, is what I'm getting at. Also, you may notice the audio quality is a little less than usual - I accidentally encoded the final mix at a lower frequency than we usually use, and I didn't save the session, so I would have had to recreate it from the raw files and IT'S NOT THAT BAD JUST DEAL. The Unwritten gets subtextually Biblical, Knight and Squire get whimsically serious, and Archie and the gang (which this week includes Spidey, Korvac, Santanna, Dueling Cyclops/Hope relationships, a plastic dart-shooting hammer and Joey's Rattata) are celebrated. Also Sims gives an award to a book that won a different award last week. I WONDER WHICH ONE THAT COULD BE?!?! As always, leave your comments or picks on and if you like the show !
