It's never easy when others criticize, belittle, or misunderstand us. Yet, as followers of Christ, we are reminded that our worth isn't determined by the opinions of others, but by God's love and purpose for us. In times when people put us down, we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus, too, was despised and rejected, yet He overcame it all. Through Him, we find our true identity, our strength, and our value. Remember, God's truth about you is far greater than any negative words spoken by others. Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” – Galatians 1:10 NIV Every time I spoke, the woman would in one way or another slight me, saying things like: “I told you this already…” “You should know that…” “No, that's not what you should do; you should ____.” The frown on her face said it all. Not knowing how to fully connect with her, I decided to engage in small talk. Maybe that would lighten her up.  “It's such a cool morning.” I pronounced. She snapped back, “I'm not focused on that at all; I am focused on getting to my destination on time.” Okay, I thought, I'd better just keep my mouth shut.  So, I did. All the same, while we quietly walked together, I wondered, is it me? Am I the problem? Does she not like me? Possibly. Not everyone will like me. She very well may not like my talkative personality. Or, my loud laugh. Or, my chipper attitude as it pertains to life. Yet, I am not responsible to make her like me, I am responsible to serve Jesus.  ““Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10 NIV) If I let what she thinks about me, define me, suddenly I serve the purpose of convincing her that I am likeable, wonderful, and worthy. In a sense, serving her only serves me and my ego. Getting my value from man can easily get me off-track with the Lord. I cannot afford to serve man more than my Master. Upon coming to this realization, I see this woman's issue with me is her issue; it does not belong to me. My concern is to walk in love and not judgement, forgiveness and not bitterness. I haven't walked a day in her shoes. What do I know about all her problems? What do I know about how to fix her? What can I do to ever please her? With all this settled in my heart, I realize that I must exert one of the most incredible superpowers I have in Christ Jesus, forgiveness. I choose to forgive her time and time again. She gives me a face – forgive. She responds irritably – forgive. She tells me that I should have known something – forgive. She responds with a contrarian opinion – forgive. I am not powerless; I am powerful when I, by the grace of God, forgive much like Jesus forgave me. Forgiveness is a superpower for those willing to get over themselves in order to love like Jesus. I can't say I always do it right, either. Sometimes, I lash out or criticize people in my mind. After, I feel upset with myself about how I acted. Have you ever noticed the hardest one to forgive – can often be ourselves?  Forgiveness is not solely given; it is often received. After we tell Jesus we are sorry, we can receive His love and grace and let go of all we hold against ourselves. For instance, I had to ask Jesus to forgive me for judging this woman. But, after that, by His grace, I received the free gift of a slate wiped-clean.  I am wholly loved and clean in Jesus' eyes thanks to what He did on the cross. So are you, too, when you come to Jesus this way. Intersecting Faith & Life: Who is annoying you? What would it look like for you to walk in constant forgiveness? How might you be holding anger towards yourself? Take a second to write down on a piece of paper everyone you are angry at, annoyed with or accusing in your mind. After writing that list, take a second to forgive each person. Perhaps, after completing that list, ask God to forgive you for whatever you have done, such as judging or gossiping.  Then, receive His grace and forgiveness that makes you white as snow. ...That's All She Wrote Have you ever written a book? Or thought you might? It seems like a good idea until you start trying to put the words on the page. Or laptop. Everyone has the material to write a book, but not everyone will take the time to write it. The truth is that every single human being has written a book, is still in the process of writing it, or will write it when they are born. The biographies of our lives are transcribed in Heaven. And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. (Re 20:12) So there are books of our lives. Why so many? Perhaps we are also judged according to the places our lives intersected other lives in their books. And then there is THE book, The Book of Life. This is the standard by which every life will be judged. It is the Law of the Land and the Law of Heaven. The Word of Adonai. The things written in the book are the deeds of each individual. What you write is your “name,” or reputation, based on your deeds and attitudes. In Hebrew naming, the name chosen for a child represents the many righteous deeds that the parents hope will characterize his or her biography. The Greek word for “written” is grapho: Strong's Definitions ????? gráph?, to "grave", especially to write; to describe. Outline of Biblical Usage I.to write, with reference to the form of the letters to delineate (or form) letters on a tablet, parchment, paper, or other material II.to write, with reference to the contents of the writing to express in written characters to commit to writing (things not to be forgotten), write down, record used of those things which stand written in the sacred books (of the OT) to write to one, i.e. by writing (in a written epistle) to give information, directions So congratulations, you're an author! Your book will be judged by the Author of Life Who wrote THE Book of Life, our instructions. He wrote the basics of life, gave us THE Book, and then breathed life into us so we could start writing. As we grew and learned His Book, we began to write, first instinctively, then consciously, our book intersecting with thousands, maybe millions, of other biographies. Imagine the size of Abraham and Sarah's books at this point. What you write can certainly affect the biographies of those who are born after you! While the Torah instructs us in the precepts, each person may creatively live them, making the biography uniquely his or hers. Imagine how the Father takes joy when we find a beautiful or inspired way to write that precept into our own biography. When we write such beautiful things in our book, we are beautifying our garments as a Bride-to-be awaiting the arrival of her husband. That's not nearly as scary as the second resurrection, which is reserved for those who were not gathered into the cloud at the first resurrection. In our weekly Zoom classes, we have been examining the twenty-four garments of the Bride as listed in Isaiah Three. Although Isaiah is chastising Israel for using those garments for the harlotry of idolatry, the judgment prophesied gives insight into how those twenty-four garments should be used to prepare for the Bridegroom's coming. “Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads.” (Re 4:4) Everything is double on Shabbat. Double manna. Double joy. Double peace. Guard and remember. In celebrating Shabbat, the Bride experiences a taste of Heaven on earth, a peaceful millennium and firstborn double portion under the rule of Messiah when “the day that is all Shabbat” is administrated by the twelve tribes of Israel from their assigned gates of New Jerus...

Read Online“I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.” John 6:48–51We continue this Sunday with the beautiful “Bread of Life Discourse” from John's Gospel. At the beginning of today's passage, we read that the people listening to this discourse “murmured about Jesus.” They did so because He had been teaching them that He was the Bread of Life Who had come down from Heaven. For some of His listeners, this was too much to accept. It was especially difficult for those who knew Jesus and His family from Nazareth. When Jesus became aware of their murmurs, He confronted them straight on saying, “Stop murmuring among yourselves.” He then doubled down on His teaching, taking it even further, telling them that whoever eats His flesh will live forever. In some ways, Jesus' teaching could be said to defy human reason. Imagine hearing this teaching for the first time from someone who grew up in your hometown. Human reason alone is insufficient to comprehend and accept such teaching. But that is precisely the point. Human reason alone is insufficient. But when human reason is endowed with a special revelation from the Father in Heaven, then all becomes clear and all makes sense. On that point, Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him” and that “Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me.” Therefore, even though it is beyond the ability of natural human reason alone to make sense of what Jesus was teaching, those who were drawn by the Father and listened to His voice were given a new form of knowledge that brought clarity to their human minds. This knowledge is essential if we are to know and understand the path to eternal life and if we are to understand and believe in the Most Holy Eucharist.Sometimes we can fall into the trap of thinking that faith is just believing in something that is beyond us. But faith is much more. It's not just blindly believing. It's not just wishful thinking that turns into a personal choice to believe. Faith is based on something absolutely real and unmistakable. It's based on true spiritually revealed knowledge—a knowledge given to us by God. In fact, this form of knowledge, given by God, is far more certain than any other form of knowledge. For example, you know that 2+2=4 because you can take two objects, add two more, and then count four. Or you know that music is playing because your ears perceive the sound. Thus, you rely upon your senses to produce knowledge to arrive at conclusions. Spiritually infused knowledge, however, is even more certain than that which we can obtain through our senses because it is God Who reveals the truth. Therefore, if God speaks to you and imparts to you a knowledge that His flesh is true food and His blood is true drink, and that if you eat His flesh and drink His blood then you will obtain eternal life, then this knowledge is certain, transforming, and becomes the basis of a life of pure faith. Though this may seem overly philosophical, it is true and necessary to understand. Reflect, today, upon anything that you fail to have perfect faith in. Do you believe in the Most Holy Eucharist? Do you believe that it is the food for eternal life? Do you believe in everything Jesus taught? Examine your faith and where it is lacking; seek the voice of the Father. Only God can impart the deepest spiritual knowledge to you. For your part, you must listen, comprehend, accept and believe. Doing so will produce the gift of faith within your human reason, and that faith will be your guide to the life of the fullness of grace. Lord, You have revealed to us the deepest mysteries of life. You have revealed Your love and compassion, and You have revealed the way to eternal life. Please give me the gift of faith so that I will believe all that You have revealed. Please especially deepen my faith in the Gift of the Most Holy Eucharist. Jesus, I trust in You.Source of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2024 My Catholic Life! Inc. Sunday November 19 to 26 Psalm 107:17-22 20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. 21 Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 22 Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare His works with rejoicing. Happy Thanksgiving Week! Because of my schedule this week I will not be making my daily Pastor Chats the rest of this week. This afternoon I will be flying down to Florida to help move one of my grandchildren from Florida back to Roanoke Virginia on Monday. I will be driving a moving van, towing a car for over 900 miles. I covet your prayers for safe travels. My wife and I will spend the rest of the week with our children and grandchildren in Virginia celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday with them. I hope to resume the chats next Sunday the 26th. I am so thankful for all my friends and everyone who “tunes in” to this daily chat with me seeking to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and live for Him every day! This is a good week to remember that Psalm 107 begins with an exhortation for us to give thanks! Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever” (v. 1). The rest of the chapter gives us several reasons why we should be thankful. We have already mentioned two of them. Four times in this chapter we read: “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses.” And four times we are told: “Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men!” In verses 4-9, we are described as someone who is lost and wandering in the wilderness in a desolate condition. We are hungry and thirsty and in a state of distress and hopelessness. But we cry out to the LORD and He delivers us out of our distress! For this we should be thankful! In verses 10-16, we are described as someone who has rebelled against God and have despised His Word and His counsel. We become slaves in bondage to our sins, the flesh and the devil. We fall down and there is no one to help us! But again, when we cry out to the LORD, He hears us and delivers us out of our distress! For this we should be thankful! Now in verses 17-22, we are described as someone who has not only wandered and lost in the wilderness, in bondage to our sin because of our rebellion, but we have now lost our health because of our foolish living and our sins. This almost sounds like someone who has become addicted to drugs and alcohol and has lost their appetite, wasted away to nothing and at the “gate of death”, about to die. But once again, “we cry out to the LORD in our trouble, and He saves us out of our distresses”! I love what it says in verse 20. “He sent His Word and healed them”! The only place in the world we can find true healing for our soul, our mental state, our emotions, is in the Word of God! The Word of God is the Water of Life! The Word of God is the Bread of Life! The Word of God is the Living Word of Life Who is Jesus Christ! John 1:1-2 tells us that: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.” Then in verse 14, John proclaimed, “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory…”  God sent His Word, Jesus Christ to bring true healing to our weary souls and set us free from our sin! Jesus Himself proclaimed: “And if the Son shall set you free, you shall be free indeed' (John 8:36). So, today and all this Thanksgiving Week, may the LORD help us to: “sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing. Have a wonderful day and a great week! God bless!

True happiness comes only by making others happy. Undeniably, life's circumstances are different for everyone. Some of us have advantages that others may not have. In contrast, others have experienced storms characterized by adverse events that have made success more challenging. However, we can still find happiness even amid our dreadful circumstances. We can find even the tiniest glimmer of joy hidden beneath every adversity. Hence, we can be confident that every adversity that shaped our determination and resilience produces growth within us.   Happiness can effectively motivate people to go after their goals and dreams. Unfortunately, many of us look for it in the wrong places assuming it can be reached when we buy expensive things and achieve personal success. Henceforth, we must recognize that happiness is not a solo quest and that we can obtain it when we learn to extend a helping hand to others and make an effort to contribute something meaningful to society. We must remember that true happiness doesn't come from merely accomplishing personal goals. Still, it grows when we start appreciating life's storms and blessings and seeking to support others to find value, purpose, and happiness.   Miss Tessa Wilson is a mother, social worker, business consultant, entrepreneur, director of Fit For Icons, Gifts For Icons and Ltd, and Founder of Fit For Icons Foundation. In this episode, Rev. Gibson & Johnny Gwin discusses the routines, rituals, and readings from Palm Sunday at Christ Church Cathedral. Starting in the garden, reenacting Mark's dramatic Passion Play, striking the Alter and leaving the church (not our Holy Week service) in silence. Palm Sunday's powerful reading covered the Passion from the Gospel of Mark with all the emotions and parts we have heard so many times. The borrowed colt, 3 denials before the cock crows twice, the arrest, the trial, the weight of the cross, and finally the human death of the "God-Man." Jesus, the God sent to Earth and instead of wielding his power emptied himself in the body of a man - a servant that was humble and obedient all the way to his own death. Our "God-Man" on the Cross - the "Tree of Life" is the bridge between life, our hell (sin), and the connection to heaven - the love and presence of God. The enduring eternal love of God in the person of Jesus Christ - The God-Man on the Tree - is offered for all, even when we sin and imprison ourselves (and others) in Hell. God offers us the door into heaven. Jesus stands with his lantern knocking at your door that only opens from the inside. Will you open the door to Christ during these final days of Holy Week? Additional Topics: > The description and nature of Hell? > Was Judas forgiven for betraying Jesus? > Where does the term "God-Man" come from? > What is the Norse Mythology of the "Tree of Life"? > Who was Barrabbas and what became of him? > Insights and ideas to make the most out of the final week of Lent and the Easter Sunday celebration.   Weekly Readings: Isaiah 50:4-9a Philippians 2:5-11 Mark 14:1-15:47   Resources: Holman Hunt - Light of the World Painting   Pulpit to Pew is a conversation between priest and parishioner, to understand how the message translates and to explore further the weekly Sunday sermon and lessons within the Episcopal tradition and daily life.

Planning For The New Year BEFORE The New Year: Quick but Effective Hacks & Brilliant/Actionable Strategies For Having Your Best Year Ever

So this week we’re going to review some simple but highly effective little hacks as well as some really well thought out and proven higher level strategies and tactics for getting the very most out of a new year.  This will be jam packed because it’s a quick review of many past shows on how to achieve more and to be more.   So be sure to listen to the podcast for our shows on OODA Loop, Setting Better Goals, and Goals vs. Systems for more in depth discussions of each. And we’re doing this four weeks ahead for a reason. No matter what you’re doing, it pays to plan ahead but with deadlines.  So that the time doesn’t expand to fill the entire period. STRATEGY:  Block Time To Do This And Other Things That Matter While Avoiding Time Creep TACTIC: So we’re going to start by getting you to get out your calendar right now…or make a note so that as soon as the show is over you’ll block the time to do three things BEFORE the end of the year and for a few after the start.   https://www.successtechnologies.com/2014/08/success-through-respect-for-time-the-magic-of-triggering-the-valuable-time-meta-program/ BEFORE year end…block time to do some high level thinking and a few exercises we’re going to give you. You’ll need at least an hour for the first.  A half an hour for the second, and a half an hour for the third. Does that feel like too much time?   Well, if you can’t invest two hour this month in getting the very most out of next year in your business and in your life than you’re probably going to have real problems. You have to make higher level thinking a priority and you have to diary and block time and then defends it. So commit right now to that.  It will make an amazing difference. Now for after the new year… Block at least two hours each week to do something that you want to do.  Block it now.  You’re going to need to defend it…  Why? Now and in the next three sessions on your own: What do I really want? Business and Life Who would I need to be to have that? Business/Life What resources do I need to make it inevitable that I’d have that or more by the date selected or sooner? Business/Life STRATEGY:  Know who your best clients really are, what they fear and value.  How they communicate, the language that they use and where they go for trusted information Tactics:  Ask them more and more often.  Make them more offers that match and are in alignment. STRATEGY:  Being Open To Being Wrong Or To Something Better: What evidence would I need to see, hear or feel in order to know that I might be wrong? Start with the end in mind…recipe for success or dismal failure Tactic:  X or better by Y or sooner STRATEGY: Alignment with Vision, Values (permanent or largely unchanging)and Mission (will change through time as you summit the peak and look to the next level)   Tactics:  Measurement and OODA Loop Decide on mission metrics and have a to do and a not to do list with KPIs and regular monitoring. Tactics:  Define them in time blocks provided and then refine them Tactics:  Binary decision making, rating and removing the number 7 on a scale of one to ten. Strategy:  Systems vs. Goals Strategy:  Upsells increase margins AND satisfaction/experience Tactics:  More and in more ways Strategy:  Referrals of more and better Develop Trust, eliminate risk, and create self improving systems https://www.successtechnologies.com/2017/03/why-trust-is-essential-part-4-of-4-building-trust-bonus-materials/ Strategy:  Reactivation and Retention Strategy:  Market to your team and up your game with recruiting, hiring and on boarding/training Tactics Strategy:  Do more speaking and writing with less anxiety Hack:  Use and minimize anxiety   The Anxiety Performance Enhancer Hack Have you ever felt extremely anxious before speaking, taking a test, and or engaging an important activity? Many people do even when they are experienced and professional.  What’s more, many of us feel that it interferes with our very best performance. I’m an experienced meditator, and use deep breathing to relax and to get past the anxiety.  But then I often have to ramp my enthusiasm back up. So what if I could show you a quick but proven/effective hack that works for me and has some great science behind it?  Will you use it?  See and experience it for yourself? It’s called the “I feel excited” hack.  And it uses the fact that anxiety and excitement are biochemically very much the same thing viewed through two different mental filters. So watch this quick video and enjoy getting past anxiety and actually making ti work for you.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rRgElTeIqE

Peter had a vision to go to Macedonia and spread the word ofGod, and he set off on an a trek without thinking about theobstacles. Why do we modern Christians not have "visions" anymore?Would we even act on the message of the "vision"? Have we adultslost the ability to see the visual and sometimes not "rational"world of our spirituality? In this week's Pulpit To Pew ReverendGipson suggests that we should see the world and church servicesthrough the eyes and open mind of a child. We should make room forthe Holy Spirit by offering up drawing, art, music even gardeningas a way of prayerful action to God. Using Lynda Berry's "TheUnthinkable Mind" approach, being mindful of God's presence inscripture, church services, and the details of our life couldcreate an openness and new view of the joyous wonders of God andhis works. Johnny shares his love and benefits of sketchnoting inthe pews plus his St. Clare of Assisi Patron Saint of Televisionplastic glow in the dark miniature novelty statue.
