Here is another one that I found with the theme of always trying to get better. From Kevin DeShazo (@KevinDeShazo) “A stressed mind leads to inconsistent actions. A calm mind leads to consistent actions. Win the mental battle. Make your mindset your advantage.” The mental battle of life is something that I am at least more aware of now that I've been connected to more information about its importance and how so many people don't pay attention to that importance. It's something we all can improve at since it's our own individual mind that we are talking about. One of the big problems is that we are so busy trying to deal with a stressed and cluttered mind that we don't connect to things like this. I need to keep working on having my mindset be one of my strengths and not something that I have to fight with. Thanks for listening. This is me, the mic, ya'll listening, no notes and whatever is on my mind. Thanks for listening, take what you want, leave the rest. In this episode I talk about my experience of being on the carnivore diet for 7 weeks now. The ups and downs, the pros and cons. Enjoy! Take a moment and check out these great companies! Highspeed Daddy: https://www.highspeeddaddy.com/?rfsn=7178368.317ce6 Live Rishi: Use the code "TABLE50" and get 50% off your entire order - https://liverishi.com/ Me: https://berawpodcast.com/ 'til next time, keep kickin ass! Ah yes, the carnivore diet — the "crazy, unsustainable" way of eating that's somehow completely transformed my health over the past two months. Who knew ditching kale and quinoa for steak and eggs would actually make me feel human again? Shocking, right? While everyone else is choking down green smoothies and pretending to enjoy chickpeas, I'm over here thriving on ribeye and butter. My inflammation? Gone. My energy? Through the roof. My cravings? What are those? Turns out, I don't need a side of anxiety with my avocado toast after all. Of course, the plant-based crowd loves to call this “dangerous” and “unbalanced.” Because, you know, eating real, nutrient-dense food that humans have survived on for thousands of years is clearly more reckless than stuffing your face with processed soy burgers and seed oil dressing. Makes perfect sense. Look, I get it. It sounds extreme to some. But honestly, what's more extreme — eating the diet we evolved on or trusting the same food industry that's been pumping out sugar-laden garbage for decades? I'll stick with my steak, thanks. My body's happy, my mind's clear, and my abs are starting to show. But hey, enjoy your kale chips.

As I’m sure you’re keenly aware, people are extremely divided these days. From our politics, to our attitudes, to our ways of speaking about others, we are growing more and more polarized—and mutually destructive. On this episode of The Gathering Room podcast, I’m talking about how upset many of us feel, why that upset is not always coming from a place we can trust, and what we can do about it.Once upon a time, they invented something called the internet. And on the internet, social media began to play out. And these platforms soon figured out that we pay more attention to things that upset us, so they started feeding us more and more upsetting content.Because we evolved to be social creatures who are super susceptible to group influence, we’re basically hardwired to want to agree with the group, even if it means pretending to see things differently than we actually do.Add all that evolutionary and psychological background to social media, and you soon get social media algorithms that keep us online by stoking constant outrage and fear. We’re terrified of being bullied and looking for people to back us up, so we consume more and more information that’s designed to upset us. Then we lash out in a way that feels like self-defense, but it looks to other people like we’re attacking them. It’s a vicious cycle where everyone feels attacked by everyone else.A lot of us feel vulnerable and outraged and afraid of the future and of other people right now. It’s been so exaggerated by our media and our social media that we’ve lost our sense of truth in all of this. And when you get people off their basic sense of truth, they will do almost anything. They will attack other people and leave their own ethics in the dust. When you lose your sense of truth, suddenly everything bobs and sways and there’s nothing real to stand on.Everything is spinning and slanting and trying to get you to feel a certain way, but the only feeling that you can really build a life on is peace. So, how can you get to peace in an increasingly polarized world? Find out on this episode of The Gathering Room, where I’ll share the one statement I’ve found to be most grounding and true, how to make peace your primary goal in all interactions, and how peace can give you the strength and clarity you need to navigate life’s challenges. We’ll also do our guided Space, Silence, and Stillness meditation to recalibrate ourselves toward clear minds, quiet hearts, and peace. Most of the questions I get asked while traveling revolve around my writing process or publishing journey. So, in this episode, I share my life-altering journey, explaining how a personal health challenge led me to discover Ayurveda and inspired me to write books to spread its wisdom. So, whether you dream of writing a book, are busy working on one, or are curious about the writing and publishing process, this episode is a must-listen.Join me. You may even find the spark to turn your writing ideas into reality! My Health Struggles When I was 20, I traveled to India, eager for adventure, but my health was a mess. I dealt with parasites, a weakened immune system, and gut issues and took antibiotics like Flagyl, which wrecked my digestive system. After I returned to India to seek treatment, a doctor in Mysore introduced me to the ancient Ayurvedic healing system. The Ayurvedic ExperienceI underwent Panchakarma, a powerful Ayurvedic detox that included oil rubdowns, milk pours, enemas, and a simple Kitchari diet. The experience was intense but transformative. It gave me a deeper understanding of Ayurveda and sparked my curiosity to learn more.Combining Yoga and AyurvedaI spent time teaching yoga and Ayurveda, balancing my time between India and the U.S. I started sharing simple Ayurvedic practices with my students, like tongue scraping and drinking hot water. I also noticed how confused many people were about food, so I wrote a cookbook. The Everyday Ayurveda CookbookWhen an editor from Shambhala Publications contacted me, I knew it was time to turn my ideas into a book. So, I wrote The Everyday Ayurveda Cookbook. It contains simple, seasonal recipes to help people understand how food can be medicine. The Publishing JourneyThe publishing process was not easy. It involved testing recipes, balancing the Ayurvedic philosophy, and ensuring it was user-friendly and accessible. I worked closely with a designer to create a visually appealing and informative book. The cookbook came out in 2015, and in 2025, I will release a 10th-anniversary edition of The Everyday Ayurveda Cookbook, with new recipes and a foreword by Amadeo Morning Star. Mind-Body Connection and the Second BookAs I continued working with people, I realized how much the mind influences our health and food choices. That led me to write my second book, Everyday Ayurvedic Cooking for a Calm, Clear Mind, about how Ayurveda can help us create mental calm and clarity, which supports our overall well-being.Writing in IndiaWhen in India, I have more time to write as there are fewer distractions. I get a lot of inspiration in India, especially from local food markets and healthy restaurants. The Struggles of Writing the Front MatterWriting the front matter for Calm, Clear Mind took me a year. Writing about the mind is tricky, complex, and often murky. I worked closely with my partner, Rich, who has experience with psychological work, to ensure the language was non-judgmental. Research and Inspiration from TextsI could not find many Ayurvedic resources on the mind, so I dug deep into texts like the Bhagavad Gita, which explores the connection between food and the mind. After extensive research, I also found insights from various yogic and Vedic texts that shaped my approach to writing about the mind. The Challenge of PublishingPublishing with Shambhala has been a rewarding experience for me. The vulnerability of handing over my work for the first time was a huge emotional challenge, but working with a trustworthy publisher made things easier. I published all four of my books with them because I trust their artistic vision and respect...

Episode 340 Show Notes Topic of the show: Mental Health in Aviation by SGAC CB On this week's show, AG and RH discuss the giant Penguin in the room: mental health. We have strong feelings about this topic and want to normalize the conversation to help remove the stigma associated with mental health issues in aviation. The FAA formed a mental health and aviation medical clearances rulemaking committee and said “Implementing the recommendations associated with these barriers will set the stage for a seismic shift in how the industry perceives and manages the risks associated with mental health conditions.” We normally keep our show topics fun and entertaining but we feel it's important to speak up about the issue and normalize the difficult conversations. Timely Feedback: 1. Patron PV asks AG to recount his briefly mentioned story about the scope going dark. 2. Patron TW provides insight into why RH's commute home was terrible. 3. Patron SVO sent audio feedback about a real NORDO scenario in a jet. 4. Patron BJ updates us on a recently used acronym. Feedback 1. Patron DSR has feedback about crossing the border. 2. In this conversation, Von interviews hip-hop artist & friend Timothy Rhyme about Profound's (Timothy Rhyme & Gabriel Velasquez) latest single 'Heaven In My Mind'. They discuss the inspiration behind the song, the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, and the process of healing from past traumas. They also touch on the challenges of overcoming survival mode and the impact of unhealed wounds on future generations. The conversation emphasizes the value of self-reflection, gratitude, and the power of a clear mind."From the first drop of the chorus, this track is infectiously uplifting and encouraging. With the overwhelming chaos of the world we live in, Timothy Rhyme's lyrics remind us of the importance of a healthy mind and the rewards resilience can bring. We all have a past filled with trials and tribulations that we can look back on with pride and hope for the future. The steady progression of this song exemplifies how far a positive mindset can take you in pursuing your goals and learning to love life even in the mundane. Whether you are alone or with a crowd, this feel-good song will leave you eager to play it again and again." - ProfoundChapters (00:00) Introduction and Father's Day(02:08) The Creation of 'Heaven In My Mind'(04:58) Survival Mode and Switching it Off(06:38) The Impact of Drugs and Alcohol on Survival Mode(09:43) Breaking Generational Curses(15:24) The Importance of a Clear Mind and Gratitude(23:56) The Pitfalls of Hustle Culture(28:44) The Dangers of Self-Medication(32:36) The Power of Perspective and Gratitude(36:54) Conclusion and Reflections on the JourneyProfound Website:https://profound916.com/Profound IG:https://www.instagram.com/profound916/Follow Me on Social Media:Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thevoncastshow/Music Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shibavon/Website: https://www.iamvon.net/

Welcome back to another episode of Gospel Spice! I have the humbling privilege to be your teacher, which is a role I take with utmost seriousness and a deep desire to steward your trust well. Thank you! I am thrilled to dive into today's topic: the Passover meal. We have so much to unpack in this episode, from the significance of unleavened bread to the powerful imagery of the cup of redemption. But before we dive in, let's quickly recap the previous weeks where we explored the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion during Holy Week. From his announcement of his impending death to the Pharisees' attempts to prevent it during Passover, there is a rich tapestry of events to explore. One highlight we'll focus on today is the radiant act of devotion by Mary of Bethany, who anoints Jesus with expensive perfume as a symbol of her love and gratitude. We'll dive into the deeper meaning behind this act and how it ties into the overall theme of Jesus as the bridegroom and us as his bride. That is speaking directly about YOU! Now, I must apologize for the sound quality of this episode. It was recorded live, and it is not as good as a studio recording. As a perfectionist in trying to bring you the highest quality sound, I faced some challenges, but I hope that the message itself will inspire awe and worship of Jesus Christ. Speaking of worship, we'll also be exploring the Old Testament roots of the Passover and how it finds fulfillment in Jesus. From the story of Moses and the Israelites to the symbolism of unleavened bread, we'll trace the threads that beautifully connect Scripture and glorify God. So, get ready to invite the Holy Spirit to captivate you through the intricate details of the Passover meal, the power of Jesus' sacrifice, and the call to live in a way that honors him. We'll be drawing on various passages to shed light on this timeless topic, including John 14:1-23. Thank you for joining us on this journey. Now, let's uncover the extraordinary significance of the Passover meal and how it points us to the transformative work of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Are you looking for a place to take notes, some topics to research on your own, or some questions you could ponder to go deeper during your quiet time with God or with a friend? Remember, we have workbooks available for this episode, and every other episode of our Jesus Rabbi and Lord series. For each episode, they contain a summary, listening guide, key takeaways, quotes, questions and topics to go deeper. Go to gospelspice.com/jesus to purchase these workbooks.
