Im Horrorfilm "Tusk" von Kevin Smith reist der Podcaster Wallace Bryton nach Kanada, um für seine Show eine bizarre Geschichte aufzuspüren. Dort trifft er auf den geheimnisvollen Howard Howe, einen ehemaligen Seefahrer, der ihm von seiner Begegnung mit einem Walross erzählt. Howard betäubt Wallace und beginnt eine verstörende Transformation, indem er ihn mit grausamen chirurgischen Eingriffen in ein menschliches Walross verwandelt. Während Wallace zunehmend seiner Menschlichkeit beraubt wird, versuchen seine Freundin Ally und sein Podcast-Partner Teddy, ihn zu finden und zu retten. In der heutigen Folge spreche ich mit Patrick über die Jahre 2000-2010, in denen auch einige gute Thriller erscheinen sind, die man mal gesehen haben sollte. Nachdem die Episode mit Chanty bezüglich der Thriller der 90er so gut angekommen ist, war es klar, dass auch ein Jahrzehnt weiter mal Thema sein musste. Heute spreche ich das dritte mal mit der lieben Chanty und wir haben uns auf "Haus der 1000 Leichen" geeinigt, nachdem dieser immer wieder für eine Besprechung gewünscht wurde und einen großen Kult zu genießen scheint. Ein Fakt, den Rob Zombie selbst gar nicht nachvollziehen kann und das haben er und ich auch gemeinsam, denn selten habe ich einen so hässlichen Film und derart viel Dilettantismus in nicht mal 90 Minuten gequetscht gesehen. Natürlich gibt es von meiner Seite aber auch ein paar positive Dinge zu erwähnen, diese machen ungefähr 23 Sekunden aus. Das Böse ist hier mal kein Monster oder Dämon, sondern ein antiker Spiegel, der seine Besitzer nach und nach seit vielen Jahren um die Ecke bringt. "Oculus" ist ein Horrorfilm, der alles richtig macht und uns nicht wie die meisten Steifen der heutigen Zeit enttäuscht zurücklässt. Heute habe ich das erste mal das Vergnügen mit Chanty zu sprechen, mit der ich mich auf den immer wieder mal gewünschten "Ghost Ship" von 2002 geeinigt habe. Wie "13 Geister" (lustigerweise vom selben Regisseur) hatte ich auch hier den Film über 20 Jahre nicht mehr gesehen und zwar weil ich wusste, dass er mich damals nicht überzeugt hatte und er mich deshalb auch nicht mehr interessiert hat. Nun habe ich ihn mal wieder geschaut und auch Chanty hat nach einer erneuten Sichtung viele Jahre später festgestellt, dass es sich hierbei um einen recht schlecht gealterten Horrorfilm handelt der zwar gut aussieht, aber erzählerisch sehr viel falsch macht.
