Hemos quitado la música original por cuestiones de derechos de autor. No contiene publicidad. A musing about my father's experience aboard a super cruise liner where he and most of the old poeple on board contracted some terrible infection that almost killed them and this was before the Covid Cruise Lines came along , interestingly you can see how you could end up with a Marie Celeste where everybody aboard ends up dead

I don't know about you, but just about everyone who can work from home is working from home right now at this company, NZME. It's been pretty much that way since the first lockdown two years ago. Apart from brief sort of bursts of normality and then it's back to being like the parrot on the Marie Celeste, wondering where everybody is gone. For some people who joined the company over the past 24 months, they've only ever known Zoom meetings and using their bedroom as an office. Which means for those working at home that when they need a coffee, they put the jug on. When they break for lunch, it's last night's leftovers or a quick sandwich, or if it's the day before the supermarket shop, quick run up to the Hot Buns bakery on the corner for a special treat. That has had a huge impact on Central City and the many, many businesses the central city used to support. It's prompted a plea from the chief of New Zealand's largest commercial landlord for businesses to please, please let their staff back into the city. Scott Pritchard, Chief Executive of Precinct Properties, says in Commercial Bay, for example, which is a gorgeous new shopping area in downtown Auckland, there might be at any time pre pandemic 8000 people populating the precinct at the moment. It's around three 3000 currently. 5000 people down. Scott Pritchard says the consequences of empty offices are dire. The shops, the restaurants, the bars, the galleries cannot be mothballed for months on end until people feel safe again - and I really understand what he's saying. Some people have to work at home, for others who have the choice they prefer to be at home. They don't miss the commute. They don't miss the expense of parking. They don't miss the office politics. They like working from home. And others who work for multinational companies must take their orders from their foreign masters. These CEOs have seen the havoc wreaked by the pandemic in Europe, the States and Australia and want to avoid that here, so their employees aren't given a choice. They must stay home. So when Scott Pritchard says come back, it's not as simple as Oh, OK. And while I love the inner city and the vibrancy of so many people in a confined space having a great time, is it everybody's idea of a good time? Have people's idea of what a good time is changed since the start of the pandemic?
It makes sense a culture filled with superstition and lore has a treasure trove of ghost stories. For as long as mankind has been on the ocean there have been disappearances at sea. For those back onshore the agony of waiting, wishing, and hoping for an answer to where their loved ones were and if they would ever return haunted their every thought. A desperate mind starts to dream up reasons for things unknown. Why have they not returned? Why would they die? Why is there no word? Am I being punished? Maybe they're still out there. But what happens when we do see something totally unexplainable? Something that even though our brain is fully aware of what it is, we can still find it entirely incomprehensible. Most people would probably try and find some logical reason to suit their experience. But what if you gave up and finally accepted the unaccepted. What if enough people saw something so strange and so phenomenal it couldn't be written off? That is when it becomes something of folklore and this is how ghost ships are born. Day 118 - It's turning into the Marie Celeste in the Marina, Hoards, and hoards of boats went out today, Okay, three to be honest with you but it felt like more, maybe because they were all wide beams. As I took each of the girls out, in turn, I tangled in the chatting and locking. I never ever do the locks on the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal. In my opinion, they are not nice locks, they are heavy and stubborn, so I give that pleasure to Dave. But not today, here I am wheezing and puffing opening up the gates. Everyone is in good spirits, well they would be wouldn't they, they are going out for the season. Unlike us, why aren't we going out yet? Erm, 1 - Got some boat jobs on the go. 2 – We want to go North, and the system currently has two issues, one a breach and the other a lock. 3 – Diary plans in the area. I almost sob as they head out, have a chat with some friends who went on the day before, and end up mimi mocking them. It slipped out before I could hold my jealously in check, yes I know it's not a pleasant trait. Interestingly, or maybe it's not, but you won't know if it is or isn't until you get to the end of the paragraph by which time if you don't think it is interesting, you'll have wasted your time. Just saying. No refunds for that time you're never going to get back, or the fact that I'm still driveling on about absolutely nothings – As I was saying, interestingly or maybe not – you can see how this could keep going round in a circle… As I walked the girls individually, their behaviour and reaction to so many people milling around the locks was t totally different ends of the spectrum. Willow wanted to run at people and then bark but would end up running back to me if they fronted her up. And Eva wanted just to rub herself all over them like a hot hairy rash. It's at this point I say, you've got to choose your audience because for either one of those spectrums it doesn't always go down well. Was it interesting? – no – well I did warn you. I thought it was hence why I shared. If you've enjoyed this episode, please leave us a five-star rating or review and share it with those you feel would also enjoy them. resoconto di fantasia, scritto da Arthur Conan Doyle, sulla scomparsa della nave Marie Celeste.
Mary Celeste referred to as Marie Celeste was an American merchant brigantine discovered adrift and deserted in the Atlantic Ocean off the Azores Islands on December 4, 1872. The Canadian brigantine Dei Gratia found her in a disheveled but seaworthy condition under partial sail and with her lifeboat missing. The last entry in her log was dated ten days earlier. She had left New York City for Genoa on November 7 and was still amply provisioned when found. Her cargo of denatured alcohol was intact, and the captain's and crew's personal belongings were undisturbed. None of those who had been on board were ever seen or heard from again.Email: sreekala.kp2@gmail.com
Brandon and Sarah discuss the unsolved mystery of the Mary Celeste, the derelict ship found in 1872 off the coast of the Azores. Was there a mutiny? Was she attacked by a giant sea monster? Was she attacked by pirates? The world may never know.

Join Jack & Joe as they brave the sunny plains of Aridius, discover the truth about the Marie Celeste, step into the collective fears of humanity and witness all out robot war on Mechanus. The Chase has come in for a lot of flack over the years and we build a surprisingly positive case for the story, whilst generously acknowledging its faults. Does this story feature the ultimate Doctor Who ball sac monster? Should Morton Dill have skipped into the TARDIS instead of Steven? And we might have a very solid idea why these particular Daleks are so thick. All this and we say goodbye to Ian and Barbara in another exciting instalment of The Nimon Be Praised!
Van Heflin returns to the podcast in two more old time radio thrillers, including a tale pulled from the history books. We'll hear the star of 3:10 to Yuma as a con man plotting a perfect crime in "Murder of Aunt Delia" (originally aired on CBS on November 10, 1949). Then, Suspense dramatizes an unsolved mystery of the sea when it presents "The Mystery of the Marie Celeste" (originally aired on CBS on June 8, 1953).

The tragic story of the ship "Marie Celeste" has been told for over a hundred years. And the tale gets wilder and wilder every time. On December 5, 1872, the vessel was found drifting in the Atlantic Ocean about 1,400 miles west of Portugal. The crew and passengers were gone, but the ship was in near perfect condition, with all her lifeboats intact, and all the supplies, clothing, and provisions for her occupants intact. It was as if the people had evaporated. What happened? Find out, and also learn what the "Marie Celeste" tells us about how historical myths and misconceptions start and spread!

Adoption can impact the lives of all involved in ways that aren’t always obvious. In this episode of Woman Worriers, host Elizabeth Cush and her guest, Marie Celeste, talk about adoption, from the trauma of losing the birth family to challenges within the adoptive family to a better understanding of those involved in the adoption process.
Holding documents and records dating back to the time of Queen Elizabeth I up to the present day, the Gibraltar National Archive has many fascinating stories to tell. From the Great Siege to the evacuation of the Rock’s civilian population during World War II to the inquest held after the discovery of the Marie Celeste and the evidence heard at the Supreme Court after the shooting in Gibraltar of three IRA members in 1988, there are so many pivotal events which are recorded there. In this episode of Gibraltar Stories, I visited Gibraltar’s National Archivist Anthony Pitaluga, and asked him to tell me about some of the things stored in the archives. http://nationalarchives.gi/ Music on this podcast is by DP Music on www.melodyloops.com mixed with Gibraltar atmospheric sounds You can read more about the work done by volunteers at the Gibraltar National Archive in my latest blog post on www.gibraltarstories.com
On 7th November 1872 a ship set sail from New York...less than a month later the vessel was found deserted. The cargo was intact and there was plenty of food in the hold but the lifeboat was missing. The image of the ghost ship caught the imagination, and the term mary celeste or marie celeste came to mean ‘an unsolvable mystery’. Take a listen to this week's lesson with Tom Wright, Artistic Director at Belvoir.

Episode 16: Grail (Season 1, Episode 15)Synopsis: In which a seeker comes to the station on a legendary quest and ends up inspiring others to great deeds. And at the end of the day there is a lack of boom.David Warner is a goddamn legend. There's no other way to say it. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001831/?ref_=tt_cl_t126:55 - that's Chris's cat Max yelling in the background. He does that now and then for absolutely no good reason. The timing was just too perfect to the conversation to edit it out.The proper pronunciation is “Rahj-al-gool” not “Rayj-al-gool.” I will brook no dissent in this matter, regardless of how wonderful your abs might be, Mr. Amell. David Icke is a proponent of a theory that an alien race of shape-shifting reptoids (who may or may not be from the center of the earth, I may be conflating my crackpots there) has infiltrated the highest levels of human society, perhaps most notably the British monarchy. I believe the technical term for him is “nutter.”But this, and the alien abduction court case in the episode, allows me to include this picture of my favorite Centauri: Jerry Doyle hosted The Jerry Doyle Show on the Talk Radio Network from 2012 until his death in 2016.Navratan Korma is a delicious northern Indian curry made with various vegetables, fruits and nuts in a golden sauce, and not an alien species that sucks away life force. Probably.Third Stage Guild Navigator: Tor Johnson was one of the stars of Ed Wood's gloriously terrible Plan 9 from Outer Space. Much like the Loch Ness Monster and various Bigfoot encounters, the story of the Marie Celeste occupied a huge chunk of my mental real-estate in the 1970s, thanks to too many hours of watching In Search Of. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_CelesteWilliam Sanderson is nearly peak-level character actor. He pops up everywhere, and places that he doesn't you *think* he's there. Chris swears he was in Westworld but apparently not. Conflating with Deadwood perhaps?http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0761836/?ref_=tt_cl_t13Christy Marx (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christy_Marx), the writer of this episode and creator of Jem & the Holograms (the live-action film of Jem apparently came out in 2015, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3614530/?ref_=nv_sr_1)Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends ran from 1981 to 1983 and inexplicably teamed the wall-crawler with former X-Man Iceman and newly created character Firestar. June Foray was the voice of Aunt May, but despite this the show was somehow really, really terrible. We had a fairly long discussion about the 2001 Josie and the Pussycats film which had to be cut because of problems with Chris's mic, but do check it out. Solid fun and an AMAZING soundtrack, with Kay Hanley of Letters to Cleo doing the vocals for the Josie songs, and it should definitely NEVER be confused with Spice World. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236348/?ref_=nv_sr_1

She transferred to American ownership and registration in 1868, when she acquired her new name, and thereafter sailed uneventfully until her 1872 voyage. At the salvage hearings in Gibraltar, following her recovery, the court's officers considered various possibilities of foul play, including mutiny by Mary Celeste's crew, piracy by the Dei Gratia crew or others, and conspiracy to carry out insurance or salvage fraud. No convincing evidence supported these theories, but unresolved suspicions led to a relatively low salvage award. The inconclusive nature of the hearings helped to foster continued speculation as to the nature of the mystery, and the story has repeatedly been complicated by false detail and fantasy. Hypotheses that have been advanced include the effects on the crew of alcohol fumes rising from the cargo, submarine earthquakes (seaquakes), waterspouts, attacks by giant squid, and paranormal intervention. After the Gibraltar hearings, Mary Celeste continued in service under new owners. In 1885, her captain deliberately wrecked her off the coast of Haiti, as part of an attempted insurance fraud. The story of her 1872 abandonment has been recounted and dramatized many times, in documentaries, novels, plays and films, and the name of the ship has become a byword for unexplained desertion.
Mary Celeste (often misreported as Marie Celeste) was an American merchant brigantine, discovered adrift and deserted in the Atlantic Ocean, off the Azores Islands, on December 5, 1872. The Canadian brigantine Dei Gratia found her in a dishevelled but seaworthy condition, under partial sail, and with her lifeboat missing. The last entry in her log was dated ten days earlier. She had left New York City for Genoa on November 7, and on discovery was still amply provisioned. Her cargo of denatured alcohol was intact, and the captain's and crew's personal belongings were undisturbed. The tragic story of the ship “Marie Celeste” has been told for over a hundred years. And tale gets wilder and wilder every time. Find out, and also learn what the “Marie Celeste” tells us about how historical myths and misconceptions start and spread!

Ofcom's ‘Approved areas', seemingly assembled randomly one wine-fuelled night, meant that stations were able to vacate expensive premises and choose to co-habit. That left old sets of studios either to be attacked by sledgehammers wielded by property developers, or preserved lest they ever be needed again in times of crisis. The latter was the case for GWR's network centre, which was fortunate when, one day in November 2015, Chris Moyles sought to broadcast from Bristol. Enjoy here the early moments of that show as he picked up the mic in the Marie Celeste.
A fictional account of what might have happened to the crew of the Marie Celeste on her final voyage as told by a stowaway.
