The Maserati MC20 Cielo joins the quickly growing line of Maserati's supercar variants. As the name suggests, the MC20 Cielo drops the top on the MC20 and gives you the open sky. Even though the MC20 is the spiritual successor to the V8-powered MC12, the '25 MC20 Cielo, and the rest of the MC20 lineup, opts for a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that throws 621 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission before throwing that power to the rear wheels. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek's Mark Vaughn hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Maserati MC20 Cielo and puts it through its paces. Vaughn takes you on a guided tour of the '25 MC20 Cielo and highlights some of his favorite features. Later in the show, Vaughn takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Vaughn chats with host Wesley Wren about the '25 Maserati MC20 Cielo, where it stacks up among the competition and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the '25 Maserati MC20 Cielo special.

International trade has progressed enormously since the founding of the WTO in 1995. The world trades a lot more – from just over 5 trillion dollars' worth of goods in 1995 to more than 22 trillion dollars in 2021. The world also trades in new ways - e-commerce accounts for more than 20 percent of total retail sales worldwide. Supply chains have also revolutionized trade, leading to the rise of products made "in the world". Despite this radical transformation, the WTO and the rules of trade remain largely unchanged. Ambassador Didier Chambovey of Switzerland, the General Council Chair, and the WTO's Joan Apecu talk about the efforts to keep the organization fit for purpose and ready to respond to the realities of 21st century commerce.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how important fundamental questions regarding food and health are to all of us. Complicating the situation have been developments such as the war in Ukraine and droughts resulting from climate change, both which are contributing to immediate and longer-term concerns about food insecurity. Listen to Ambassador Gloria Abraham Peralta of Costa Rica, Chair of the agriculture negotiations at the WTO and Ulla Kask, agriculture expert at the WTO Secretariat, decipher the issues addressed in the MC12 Ministerial Declaration on the Emergency Response to Food Insecurity and the Ministerial Decision not to impose export restrictions on foodstuffs purchased for humanitarian purposes by the World Food Programme.

It was the most hotly debated issue in the run-up to MC12 and at the very last minute, negotiations nearly broke down because of a footnote. The issue was the WTO's intellectual property response to the COVID-19 pandemic, commonly known as the TRIPS waiver. There is good news to report in this episode as WTO members agreed at MC12 to waive certain requirements under the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) making it easier for developing countries to produce and export COVID-19 vaccines. Anabel González, WTO Deputy Director-General and Ambassador Lansana Gberie of Sierra Leone, the chair of the TRIPS Council, talk about how WTO members adopted a problem-solving approach on the waiver issue and agreed on a strategy to ensure trade can support the expanded and diversified production of essential goods needed in the fight against COVID-19 and future pandemics.

The World Trade Organisation has been in existence for almost 25 years, and in that quarter-century it's been written off many times, and despite the stresses and strains of policing global commerce it still survives. But the WTO's rationale, purpose and capacity are under the microscope as much as ever with the forthcoming ministerial conference, known as MC12, fast approaching. Trade ministers from the WTO's members will gather in Geneva for four days of intense discussions whose impact will be felt by farmers, food producers and consumers globally. The ninth episode of Food for Europe looks at the European Union's approach to MC12 from the perspective of trade in food and farm commodities: what's at stake, the points of contention, and prospects for resolving the disputes hampering the WTO from functioning. After the failure of the last ministerial conference in Buenos Aires in 2017, the WTO's credibility as the rule-setter and enforcer of global trade is waning, as key stakeholders in the organisation have sought to protect their own farming and food production sectors at the expense of competitors. The EU goes into MC12 seeking further reform of domestic support, or subsidies. Ove the past 20 years the Union has shifted from a system that subsidised production to a system that provides direct income support to farmers. The EU is now looking to others – the United States, India and China included – to cut back on the tens of billions of euros spent on trade-distorting domestic support, which puts EU exporters at a competitive disadvantage. Our guests on this episode include John Clarke and Ignacio Garcia from the Commission's DG AGRI and DG TRADE respectively, and we also hear from Jean-Marie Paugam, the deputy director-general of the WTO, a member of the new management team leading the organisation into MC12. Our field report comes from Luxlait, a dairy cooperative in Luxembourg that exports its products to the highly competitive markets of China and Africa, and is therefore heavily dependent on a rules-based system that enables fair competition and high standards.

BOOK LAUNCH The Road Towards the WTO MC12: A Latin America and the Caribbean Perspective Co-Organized by IFPRI and Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) OCT 27, 2021 - 12:00 PM TO 01:00 PM EDT In the run-up to the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference, major challenges face the governance of agricultural and food trade. In today's context of change and uncertainty, the relative importance and urgency of traditional agricultural trade issues (including domestic support and market access) and the possibilities to progress with a multilateral strategy seem to have diminished. With the growing global focus on the environmental and nutritional dimensions of food systems and the global responsibility of all countries to contribute to food system transformation, attention must be paid to new agricultural trade issues that have gained greater urgency. The WTO, as the primary institution overseeing multilateral negotiations and trade, must identify the main elements and issues that can define its new roles, functions, and institutional organization. The papers in this new publication from IFPRI and IICA look at these challenges and what they mean for Latin America. Join us to hear from the book's authors and discussants on the main agricultural trade negotiation issues for the next WTO Ministerial Conference from a Latin American perspective. What You'll Hear:   Mike was baptized in the Catholic church as an infant.  In college his faith was re-invigorated after attending non-Catholic Christian churches He attended Miami University of Ohio and joined ROTC to help pay for college.  After college he went to intelligence school His scariest moment in the military was when he was in Iraq the 2nd time.  A large rocket landed 100 ft away from him.  At least a dozen were killed.  If you don't hear rockets or artillery you know you're in trouble. Mike's most proud and most difficult moment was when he was on a team that introduced the MC12 bi-plane - they went through the form/storm/norm/perform process For the last 5 years, he's worked for Caterpillar with sellers of their supplies in Supply Chain There is more camaraderie in the military, but in the private sector there is more freedom Living out his faith in the corporate world can be challenging.  His approach has been to be friends with colleagues first.  Once they get to know you and trust you, opportunities come up to share your faith. The acronym JOY has helped Mike. Focus on Jesus, then others, and finally yourself.  Bad times happen if we focus inwardly and on our own self-interests. Our military is still the best in the world.  Limitations are on aging infrastructure. The military, like any organization, can be too politicized, but our military is one of the best institutions in the US. Mike wrote a lot in college and over the years, and recently finished a draft of a fiction novel called Cornerstone.   It involves a convention of citizens meeting to fix their government.  It gives a lot of history and is wrapped around a love story taking place in 10th Century England.  It's part of a trilogy.  The first book is mostly about male spirituality. It started after Mike got involved with Convention of States, an organization that wants to use Article 5 of the Constitution to reduce the size of the federal government. To decide what to do with your life, think about what is your passion, what motivates you, what are you good at, rely on others to help you, try to know yourself. Try to find a mentor to help you navigate where you want to go.  Be willing to learn. You may have to pursue some of your passions, interests, and purpose outside of your full-time job, and that's OK. Write it down, pray about it, talk to people who will give you honest, constructive feedback. He has several mentors in different industries.  Your church is a good place to find a mentor.  Ask your boss at work if there is a mentorship program.  Also professional organizations. Prioritize and budget your time.  Write down how you spend your time each day. The greatest misunderstanding men have about their work is what work is for. The goal of your work is to glorify God.  Use the opportunity to form relationships with people.  When you have a chance, share your faith. We're all called to love one another.  My faith keeps me honest and accountable One way to maximize your commute time is to hold meetings. He tries to unwind and listen to Christian music. Life verse is the prodigal son story in Luke 15.  Fatherhood is so important.
