In this chilling episode of Co-op Chronicles, we're unearthing the dark legends behind four iconic horror productions. First, discover the eerie coincidences plaguing The Omen—from mysterious lightning strikes to real-life tragedies. Then, brace yourself for Poltergeist's use of actual skeletons and tragic cast deaths, considered by many to be the most convincingly “cursed” set in Hollywood. Next, we delve into Silent Hill (2006), whose foggy aesthetics and connection to the real ghost town of Centralia sparked tales of an unsettling atmosphere on set. Finally, we confront The Exorcist, with its on-set injuries, fires, and rumored demonic presence that made headlines for decades.Ready to separate rumors from reality? Hit play and join us for a 20–30 minute exploration of these infamous “cursed” movie sets—if you dare!Support the show

Episode 208: This episode was recorded December 14, 2024 and published December 17, 2024. First of all, we wish all of you the best during this holiday season. In this episode of our Fade In To Film series, Joey Min and I team up to share some good tips and a few things we learned about what to do, and what not to do, on set of an independent film; and we'll adapt some traditional on-set etiquette to smartphone filmmaking. We also tackle the role of the gaffer on set, versus the grip; and if you will ever need one on set for a mobile film. We begin with drones in New Jersey because that's where Joey is, and it's interesting. Lovely, lovely, LOVELY Luke Evans. I think he's quite possibly one of the nicest men in Hollywood - a bona fide A-Lister after star turns in Beauty and the Beast, The Hobbit, Fast & Furious, to name but a few. And yet, his early life was challenging. Raised as a Jehovah's Witness, he was unable to be open about his sexuality for fear of banishment from the church and rejection by his parents. He left home at 16, moved to Cardiff to study singing, and eventually became a successful musical theatre actor before finally landing a movie role at the age of 30, which would change his life forever. He hasn't stopped working since. Luke and I talked about being gay in Hollywood, his physical insecurities (despite being the embodiment of a certain kind of masculine perfection on-screen) and how his early days of knocking on doors with his Jehovah's Witness parents prepared him for rejection in his career. His failures? To find a soulmate until his 40s, accepting success and a failure to learn what his dad knows. I also get to study his tattoo and ask him who his favourite Hollywood co-star is and why… NEW HOW TO FAIL WITH ELIZABETH DAY PRESENTED BY HAYU LIVE TOUR DATE Friday 28th March 2025 – The London Barbican Go to: www.fane.co.uk/how-to-fail Have something to share of your own? WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas reports.
What do a classical pianist, a filmmaker, and a CEO have in common? In this week's episode of Hiring Matters, Ken Schmitt dives into the fascinating mind of Jieho Lee—CEO, Chief People Officer, and movie director. From ivory keys to boardrooms, Jieho takes us on a wild ride, showing us how the skills he developed on the movie set translate directly to leading a diverse and dynamic workforce. Cue the drama! Ken and Jieho hash out the great debate: Should company culture be more "work hard, play hard" à la Netflix, or should we strive for something a little more, dare we say, fun? Jieho argues that a workplace should spark joy, not dread, while Ken questions if the tough-love, performance-driven environment is a necessary evil. Expect a few verbal eye rolls and some serious food for thought. Together, they dig into managing a multi-generational workforce. Spoiler alert: Boomers, Gen Z, and everyone in between don't all want the same things from their jobs (shocking, we know). So, how do you balance these diverse expectations without losing your sanity? Jieho and Ken tackle it head-on, offering insights, laughs, and even a few leadership facepalms along the way. Whether you're managing egos on a movie set or in a boardroom, creating a safe, collaborative space is essential. And Jieho's secret sauce? Humility, reflection, and realizing that even CEOs (and directors) are only as good as the teams they lead. Tune in for a conversation packed with humor, hard truths, and a fresh perspective on how to lead, hire, and retain top talent—whether you're running a company or filming the next blockbuster. Key Takeaways: Artsy types make great CEOs (who knew?). Classical music taught Jieho the importance of harmony—literally and figuratively. Is fun the new productivity? Multi-generational management: It's like herding cats but with more Slack messages. Cultural fit or diversity of thought? Hint: You need both. A good leader knows how to adapt and evolve. The best leader? Knows how to laugh through it. Have questions or personal experiences? Drop us a message or Join the conversation on LinkedIn.—share your own hiring and retention horror stories, tips, and even your craziest leadership moments. We'd love to hear what's happening on your workplace “movie set”! About Our Guest: Jieho Lee is a visionary filmmaker and entrepreneur best known for writing and directing The Air I Breathe (2007), featuring a star-studded cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Andy Garcia, Brendan Fraser, Kevin Bacon, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Lee's cinematic portfolio also includes A Nursery Tale (1999) and the highly anticipated Kane & Lynch. Before making his mark in the film industry, Lee directed high-profile commercials for brands such as Ralph Lauren, Victoria's Secret, and Tommy Hilfiger. Beyond filmmaking, Jieho co-founded Knighted Ventures, a specialized company serving the casino industries in California and Florida. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to Blue Horizon Capital, where he co-led an investment strategy team focusing on business acquisitions. Prior to that, Lee oversaw business development and marketing in Asia for POM Wonderful. His career began in the entertainment field as a classical music producer, collaborating with legends like Yo-Yo Ma and Isaac Stern, and producing a best-selling album for soprano Sumi Jo, earning him the South Korean Presidential Award for Excellence. A graduate of Wesleyan University with degrees in Letters and Cinema Studies, Lee also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. We cover that, the use of AI and Chris Hemsworth talks about Thor Love and Thunder and his regrets. This and more on todays show with Kristian, Steph and Mike
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer from Bullhead City, AZ, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for an involuntary manslaughter conviction in the death of Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins was the cinematographer on the movie ‘Rust' starring Alec Baldwin, when in 2021, a prop gun the actor was rehearsing with on set had a real bullet inside instead of a fake one. When Baldwin fired it during the scene, the bullet struck Hutchins and killed her. We hear what was said at the sentencing hearing during victim impact statements, and why the judge delivered scathing remarks in the courtroom. Alec Baldwin will be facing the same charge in a trial this summer, so does the armorer's conviction and sentence help or hurt the A-list actor? A criminal defense attorney weighs in.

On this installment of Expanded Perspectives, the guys start the show off talking about the super creepy fog that is enveloping Skelekin Studios at the time of the recording and why the fog is so spooky. Then, a Montana woman describes Sasquatch encounters with friends on the Crow Nation Reservation, her experience with an invisible being, and Irish Fae Folk legends that she heard while growing up. Next, a witness and his family were driving near Stillwater, Oklahoma when he observed a large unknown white bipedal creature in a grassy area along the highway. After the break, Cam brings up some cursed movies and movie sets! The film industry has consistently delved into narratives revolving around curses, whether it's the ominous videotape triggering death after seven days in "The Ring" or the thematic exploration of grief in "Smile." Curses have become a pervasive motif in cinematic storytelling, arguably instilling a deeper sense of fear than the stereotypical hockey-masked killer; once marked by a curse, escape seems futile, regardless of one's actions. Beyond the curses depicted on the screen lies a captivating realm—cursed productions that unfold behind the scenes. A subset of films is often deemed to have endured a cursed production, marked by on-set accidents, eerie coincidences, or the unfortunate deaths of cast and crew in subsequent months and years. While these cursed productions typically find a home in the horror genre, they can manifest across diverse cinematic landscapes. Some of Hollywood's most iconic films are shrouded in rumors of "cursed" productions, their notoriety stemming from a blend of urban legends and well-documented misfortunes during filming. The curse associated with the making of these movies often garners as much attention as the films themselves. Tragedies involving injuries, fires, lightning, and even death contribute to the perception of a curse hanging over these productions. In any film production, chaos and misfortune are inherent elements, yet it is the most infamous instances of troubled productions that lead audiences to believe in the ominous notion that a movie is truly cursed.
