Myka and James Stauffer built a popular and profitable YouTube channel featuring hundreds of videos of their children and homelife. Then in 2017, after the Stauffers revealed they were adopting a boy from China, subscriptions to their channel took off. Viewers were drawn in by the family's breezy efforts to address the toddler's developmental issues. Then past videos of the boy were abruptly gone from the feed and he no longer appeared in the vlog. The mystery around the move sparked a huge backlash, with many criticising Myka's motives and fearing for the child's well-being.The HBO Original series “An Update on Our Family” recounts the controversy around the Stauffers and accusations they adopted a child just for the clicks. The HBO and Max documentary series explores the complex world of family vlogging – a popular and potentially lucrative phenomenon in which parents post a steady stream of lifestyle videos on their social media channels to be consumed by loyal subscribers. The content often cultivates a sense of community and attachment for devoted viewers and can generate income for the vloggers. Through the lens of one family's story and the sudden online disappearance of their adopted son, the series raises questions about what motivates vloggers to expose their home lives to the world and examines the wider issues that emerge when parents make their family life public. I'm not saying believing the opposite will remove any and all obstacles in your pursuit but it will change your perspective on how to move forward. For those who know of Ember's birth story, it was extremely difficult for us and on her. Luckily, she made it through that part and is doing beautifully now. The birth process of our son Elijah had a lot of uncertainty as well which we will unpack when Lauren is back on the show in the next week or two. We went into his birth process with a different belief structure which is what I want to talk about in today's episode. In today's episode, I want to talk about how your beliefs shape your perception of reality, the idea of projection, why writing down your beliefs is critical, and more.  ---------------------   Rate, Review, and Follow on Apple Podcasts   “I love these conversations!” If that sounds like you, please consider rating and reviewing the show. In 1982, Leadville's primary employer, Climax Mine, shut its doors and ceased operations.  3,000+ miners were instantly unemployed, devastating the town.  Overnight, Lake County had the highest unemployment in the nation.  In searching for ways to save the struggling  community, the Leadville Trail 100 running race was born. Beginning in 1983 with 45 runners racing an epic 100 mile trek through the rugged Rocky Mountain terrain, the Leadville Race Series has now expanded with events from California to New York, hosting thousands of endurance runners and mountain bikers from all over the world.Through the growing popularity of these race events the Lake County community has thrived.  A Colorado Mountain College economic assessment in 2012 reported the races brought over $15 million into the county each year.  Many athletes have fallen in love with Leadville and return for the events year after year, and many also want to give back.  In 2002 the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation was created to harness the generous donations of racers to the local community.  The Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving the needs of our historic and beloved Leadville, Lake County community. In a selfless and impressive feat, Ty Hall and Rodrigo Jimenez start their LT100 Run and Bike in very last place. Then they DIG DEEP all day to pass as many athletes as possible, to raise money and awareness for the LT100 Legacy Foundation.Donations come from athletes and supporters just like you, who pledge an amount per person passed, or a flat donation to support their efforts.@leadvilletrail100legacyhttps://lt100dreamchaser.org/ https://www.leadvilletrail100legacy.org/ Related Episodes: Ep. 35 Rodrigo Jimenez and Bryan MixEp. 88 Nate WhitmanEp. 95 Our Family, Including Mace and 27-Time Finisher, Eric PenceEp. 126 Neal PallesEp. 127 John Gaston

Director/Executive Producer Rachel Mason & Executive Producer Rachael Knudsen sat down for a virtual interview with Darian highlighting the documentary surrounding Myka Stauffer and the Stauffer family, one of the pioneers of the "family vlogging YouTube community," who were on top of the world until one day they weren't. After adopting a young boy from China, their seemingly perfect family quickly became entrenched in a cascade of controversy. In this chat, Darian talks to Rachel & Rachael about the article that spawned the series, the role that content has on people's lives, the family vlogging space and much, much more. Please enjoy this chat with Rachel Mason & Rachael Knudsen! #interview #familyvloggers #anupdateonourfamily #tribeca #filmfestival Rachel Mason is a Los Angeles-based filmmaker with a background in visual art and music. She received an Emmy Nomination for her Netflix Original Documentary CIRCUS OF BOOKS, Executive Produced by Ryan Murphy. The film explores her biographical story, learning the truth about her parents' adult bookstore at the center of the gay community. Mason was featured as one of Indiewire's “25 LGBTQ Filmmakers on the Rise.” Mason is currently directing the official documentary about Halyna Hutchins, with Story Syndicate. She is also directing a series about Billy Newton (aka Billy London) a gay adult film star whose unsolved murder haunted the Los Angeles gay community for 32 years. Rachael Knudsen is an award-winning producer and director whose work has been featured on Hulu, Netflix, MTV, VICE, A&E, Lifetime, Food Network, TLC, and Animal Planet. Over the past 15 years, she has dedicated her career to producing compelling non-fiction projects that explore culture shifts, sexual health, and the quest for belonging. In 2021, Rachael received a Front Page Award for her investigative documentary "Bad Goods," which exposed the global illicit trade of pangolins. Prior to her impactful work at VICE, she co-created and produced Marques Brownlee's YouTube Original series "Retro Tech." Hi Friend 2-5-24 EP 160 // No Spend Challenge Recap for 2024 Spending Only $14 on Groceries in January for Our Family of 4. Well, the January no spend challenge is finished and it was another successful month.  We did buy a buck goat, but that was so we can breed 5 of our goats for 5 of our females that are ready for June babies.  We also sold some of our pigs for processing and also processed another one for ourselves, so we had to get our tomatoes out of the freezer. In order to make spaghetti sauce, I did have to buy green peppers because we didn't have a garden last year, so I didn't have any frozen, but I did have all the other ingredients.  I was a little disappointed since I was trying to not spend anything on groceries, but it was nice to get our spaghetti sauce done.  When I was at a getaway with a bunch of friends I found a set of white plates at a thrift store that I have been looking for nearly a year, so I did breakdown and spend the $21 and I did buy raw milk for $4 since we were out, but other than that, we didn't spend anything else. I am continuing to use pantry items in February, but I do need to order some heirloom seeds for the garden and some chickens before they are sold out.  We like to get some new chickens every year just to continue eggs every year as some stop laying eggs.  We also are probably going to get broilers this year as well as we are almost out of chicken we raised 2 years ago.  And I found another kune kune piglet that we should be able to possibly breed next year if it is big enough.  Growing our homestead is something we are passionate about as we become as self-sufficient as we can be. As the grocery prices continue to rise, we continue to save money on food.  We want to get stocked up again to have at least a few years of food preserved for our family and also our kid's families that are away from home.  Yes, they are spoiled.  I'm going to have them start canning with me so they don't ever have to go without canned food if I am unable to do it for them.  I really believe this is a skill that is going to be a good one to know for the future.  Cooking from scratch is a skill that isn't difficult and can be simple to learn.  I am super excited to teach you how you can cook simple from scratch meals and learn how to rely less on the grocery store by making simple items at home that you are currently overpaying for.  It is worth your family's health to make these swaps and I can teach you to do it in very little time so you aren't stressed and overwhelmed.  Remember, if you want to get on the waitlist, I will have a link in the show notes to sign up so you will be the first to know when I have this ready to release. WHATS NEXT? So whats next… for our world? Our Family, our church?    **There are going to be more and more churches that build amazing ministries… Worship, drama, video, life application messages, social services, youth and young adult ministries… AND THEY WILL GROW… but they will not have the power of God - they will attract the world and be worldly and religious - well intentioned… but far from God.       What is the climate of Christianity in the USA? 1. More churches are in significant decline. 2. Aging leaders and aging congregations. 3. Increasing resistance to change - good and bad. Worship styles, deliverance ministry, theology  4. Navigating changing worship experiences -  5. Exhausted pastors - ministry is harder than it has ever been. To stay anointed, in his presence, time demands, to lead in spite of what the world wants, in spite of what the church wants…        What are the Problems of the Church in USA   - Lack of emphasis on evangelism and outreach.  *If we had a month of services where I said you cannot come to church unless you bring a non-Christian… would it Offend you Challenge you Cause you to not come that month Depress you Excite you about our emphasis on outreach and growth Cause you to go to another church       1. Affirming the Sufficiency and Authority of Scripture By ‘sufficiency of Scripture,' I mean that the Bible has everything necessary for faith (doctrine) and practice (how to live one's life in a way that pleases God). By ‘authority of Scripture,' I mean that the Bible has authority over what Christians and the church believe and how they organize and conduct their lives.      2. Consistent Prayer It will not be a surprise to many that prayer in churches is dwindling at a rapid rate. Whereas many churches used to host prayer meetings on Sunday and Wednesday evenings, now many churches do not host any type of consistent prayer meeting. The bottom line is that churches are not praying as much as they used to pray.  We are told by Jesus to pester God with our petitions and he will give us justice (Luke 18:1–8),

Main topics: Business, Relationship Communication, Overworking, Responsibility, Creating a Better Relationship In this week's episode, I got to sit down with a friend I deeply admire and look up to, Chris Brown.  Chris Brown helps business owners scale their businesses and guides them to the holistic and deep inner work they need.  Chris began working as a personal trainer back in 2009, together with a friend, he opened 26 boot camps across the UK. Later they separated and he went on to open his own gym, started mentoring other gym owners and found his passion for online sales, advertising and content creation. His core work currently is helping coaches, gym owners, business owners to grow and scale their company. In his work he's fusing a lot of the stuff that he has been doing around healing, men's work and leadership training, with deeper things like intimacy and relationships. This perspective came to him when three years ago he separated from his wife which sent him on a journey of inner work with therapy, breathwork and trauma release. What he realized was that like a lot of business owners the desire to prove oneself in the world, to win, dominate and be successful in business is quite an empty pursuit. What he is now bringing more of the holistic inner work and deep presence into business growth. As an entrepreneur he knows that sometimes he can spend 14 - 15 hours a day focused on the business and bring the leftovers home to family. Chris is now helping others spot that pattern and support them in their journeys. Key topics include:  ⭐️ Redefine Success Beyond Financial Metrics and Linear Business Growth ⭐️ Balancing Business & Personal Life ⭐️ The Impact of Overworking on Relationships and Well-Being ⭐️ The Importance of Spending Quality Time with Our Family and Children ⭐️ The Downside of Putting Our Attention Where We Are Getting Praised ⭐️ The Ego and Getting Defensive in the Face of Criticism ⭐️ Fostering Awareness & Conscious Communication ⭐️ Keeping Up with The Changes Happening in the World ⭐️ Taking Responsibility for Our Own Actions & the Ways We Show Up in the World ⭐️ Getting Clear on out Pursuits to Bringing Balance and Harmony to Life Connect With Chris Brown:   Chris' Instagram Chris' Podcast    Connect With David - The Authentic Man:   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theauthenticman_/  Website: https://www.theauthenticman.net/  For Coaching: hello@theauthenticman.net  Newsletter: https://www.theauthenticman.net/home-subscribe

“Whether or not women are on an equal plane with men in work and ministry does not seem like it should be a subject of debate,” writes Dr. JoAnn Butrin. “Many Christian organizations … would say they welcome female leadership and make opportunities for them.” Even so, many women leaders experience a gap between what is theologically affirmed and what is actually practiced. “The best chance of seeing this hurt and needy world won for Jesus is when men and women join forces,” Butrin argues. “We need each other to be the very best we can be as strategic agents of God's mission.” In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I'm talking with Butrin about how best to normalize men and women working together in church and ministry contexts. A well-known evangelical pastor recently announced that he will not speak at conferences that include women speakers. “There's a line at which you can't cross because someone is blatantly disobedient to Scripture,” he said. “ A conference that platforms men and women is “a total violation of Scripture,” he explained. But does Scripture actually prohibit women speaking to conferences or leading Christian ministries? Dr. Nijay Gupta doesn't think so. In Tell Her Story, published in March by IVP Academic, he argues that the Bible shows women as co-laborers with men in all aspects of ministry. “Where men have sometimes said, ‘Women can't,' the Old and New Testaments testify: they did.” he writes. For the past 12 years, Dr. Greg Mundis has served as executive director of Assemblies of God World Missions. AGWM is the missions arm of the U.S. Assemblies of God and fields 2,640 missionaries serving 252 countries, territories and provinces. Mundis has announced his retirement, effective September 30, 2023. In a statement announcing his retirement, Mundis and his wife Sandie wrote this to AGWM personnel: “Our hearts are filled with gratitude as we reflect on your faithfulness and prayers for us over these past 12 years. It is truly humbling, and we have the deepest respect for you.” In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I'm talking to Mundis about his personal experiences as a missionary, as well as his take on the past, present, and future of the AG's global church-planting mission. I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. ----- This episode of the Influence Podcast is brought to you by The General Council of the Assemblies of God. I think we all could write a book titled "Not How I Thought This Would Go!" as a result of our military lives. We military gals have gotten pretty good at adjusting. Maybe we could also adjust a little bit in our marriage too, when needed. Our spouses are gone sometimes, a lot of the time. Maybe we can learn to get creative in how we approach our marriage and instead of letting the change and separation be a place of bitterness, we can use it as an invitation to take what we can get and see it as an opportunity instead. I'll show you how. Find Sarah on Instagram! Other episodes mentioned: Episode 32: The Story of Our Family's Return to the Military

Like most moms, I've had countless battles with anxiety over the years, at times it's been debilitating. There are a few simple practices that I keep going back to over and over again. It can be easy to dismiss them because they are so simple, but I have found that consistency is key.  Do I believe feeling anxious is a sin? No. I believe anxiety is a weakness(part of being human) that can lead us into sin if left unchecked and unyielded to the Lord. Today I'm humbly sharing what I've learned over the last 55 years and praying that God will give you wisdom as you listen Resources mentioned in this episode: Our Family's Simple Routine  Morning Walking Benefits Psalm 84:11 Psalm 16:6 Psalm 16:8 1 Peter 3:17 Hebrews 12:7-11 1 Peter 5:9 Romans 8:18 Leaky Gut Diet Recipes Microbiome Mashup Dirty Dozen Clean 15 Attributes of God by AW Pink The Wonder of His Name (a study by Nancy Leigh DeMoss) CCEF (Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation): tons of great biblical counseling here on a variety of topics including anxiety and depression) The Unhurried Homeschooler Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart The Four-Hour School Day Homeschooling Today (P.S.
