You may think I am one person, what can I do? Listen in as I share things you can do at home, within your community, things that are part of a global awareness and on social media. You can be a huge part of spreading awareness and eliminate the stigma about not talking about pregnancy and infant loss. Many families suffer in silence and long to know they are not walking this path alone. Spread awareness with me on social media and use hashtags #IHaveFootprintsOnMyHeart and #WaveOfLight. Welcome back sunshine babes! National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month is in October, so we felt like it was important to speak on this topic. We brought the wonderful, Tara, to speak about this and share her story with us. We talk on the survey questions that we put on our social medias and discussed those questions and responses. We talked about important education around this topic to help other's know how to advocate and information for people struggling with this type of loss. Disclaimer: make sure you take care of yourself during and after this episode due to being an emotional topic. Come sit with us!

The Average Bro's Podcast

WHAT IS UP EVERYONE? This is episode #17 of The Average Bro's Podcast. Today's guest is the LONG TIME BRO Jenn Ramz. October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. This is an important topic that does not get talked about enough, although it effects many of us. Jenn came on the show to open her heart and share her story of how she experienced loss herself.  This is something that is not talked about very often because it is a super sensitive subject and quite frankly as a close friend I myself have walked on eggshells ever since Jenn and her family went through this difficult time. Given the fact that this is October Jenn felt the need to come on and share her story so we can all understand what it has been like since that moment and hopefully spread awareness and also let others who have been through similar situations know that they ARE NOT ALONE.  I want go give a HUGE thank you to Jenn for coming on the show and opening up the way that she did, and I hope this episode really helps provide information and comfort to any one out there who may need it. We laughed, we cried, we got DRUNK, and we also played some taboo! So go on, indulge yourself, that's right, kick off your shoes, put up your feet,  lean back and just enjoy the ride. After all, an average podcast can soothe even the savage beasts. Hosted by Eddie Ferreal - @the_averagebro Check out Jenn on IG - Jenny_girl_r Special thanks to Cool Side Productions

This episode contains a story of pregnancy loss. October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, and recently we’ve seen online and in celebrity culture a few examples of women talking must more openly about their loss experiences, even sharing very vulnerable photos with the world like Chrissy Teigan did earlier this month. Here at The Mom Hour, we are 100% on board with movements that make moms feel less alone in their experience, so we think it’s really important to continue sharing these stories. In today's special bonus episode, Sarah talks with Leeann Dearing about her personal experience with pregnancy loss. Leeann is an actress, entrepreneur and proud homeschool mom, and she's also co-founder of the funny mom duo and viral video company Leeann & Michelle, whose videos you have probably seen taking over the internet. 14. Dealing with Loss as a CoupleTrigger warning: October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, and we are the 1 in 4.In the United States, 1 out of every 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage and 1 and every 160 pregnancies end in stillbirth. Source: http://nationalshare.org/october-awareness/We wanted to do this pod to honor our own, and those countless friends and family members who have suffered a loss as well. So we’re sharing our story, what Dynae went through, and Matt’s feelings about it all as well, because often the partners in these situations don’t always get to tell their side, but it’s just as valid. How to help?Stop the stigma. Women feel a tremendous amount of guilt when they experience a loss. Let’s stop that.Normalize talking about it. Share our stories. Not only can it help the grieving process, it helps others feel less alone.Listen to women and their stories. Acknowledge the loss, and offer support however the parents need.Pregnancy is a HUGE part of women’s health, recognize and support policies that protect that health. Resources:https://pregnancyafterlosssupport.orghttps://www.marchofdimes.orgOur amazing Tattoo Artist: Joshua Tenneson https://www.transformationgallery.com/joshua-tenneson/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshuatenneson/

This episode is dedicated to all the sufferers of mental health struggles and any person whose journey to parenthood isn’t what they hoped it would be. October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and we wanted to do an episode that talks about how our emotional response to infertility, loss, pregnancy, childbirth and the newborn phase can dictate whether or not we want to have another child. Jess and Pierce share their own story and struggles with anxiety when Penny was a newborn. We read emails from a mom with a lot of strong and relatable feelings about how difficult that newborn phase really is, as well as a mom whose baby had health problems that took a year to resolve after her child was born (you can read more about that in her blog). An emailer also recommends the book One and Only by Lauren Sandler. In the pop culture segment we discuss an Episode of King of the Hill where Peggy and Hank unsuccessfully try for another baby. We realize that Bobby is written as a pretty cool kid with none of the negative only child stereotypes. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook and email us your story to be featured on our show!

On Monday, March 5, 2012, my life was turned upside down.  I was newly pregnant… I had already been shopping the baby clothes section of Target online and daydreaming about how to decorate the nursery. My heart was as fully wrapped around the idea of welcoming this tiny little person into our family as my mind could imagine.  I felt so much joy…so much fulfillment…so much anticipation of the beginning of this new season of my life. Since I was a little girl, I had dreamed of becoming a mom and holding my sweet baby in my arms. I was in a hurry that Monday evening, getting ready to go to a night class and running late, as I often did. All of a sudden, I felt a small gush of fluid. I froze. In a moment, the worst-case scenario, in all its fearful horror, flashed through my mind. I knew exactly what was happening. And there was nothing I could do to stop it. In honor of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, on today's episode, I'm sharing my story of miscarriage and a message of finding hope in the midst of heartbreak. Key Takeaways from Episode 15: +Miscarriage is heartbreaking at any stage   +It's okay to feel angry, confused, devastated, and cheated   +Your baby's life, however short, matters. It is worth acknowledging, celebrating, and grieving.   +Taking time to grieve the loss of your little one is instrumental to healing   +Give yourself lots of grace   Whether you've walked through miscarriage or you know someone who has, thanks for tuning in to this raw, real conversation with me today.  If you found it helpful, I would love for you to subscribe, rate & review it. Cass and Bob interview a woman using the pseudonym “Zoe.” She’s not entirely out to her family as an atheist, plus in her late teens she was lured into an affair with a married pastor, 12 years her senior so she would prefer to remain anonymous.  Zoe’s story is a hard one. Not only did she endure the difficult work of deconstructing her faith, and the animosity that that creates with family and friends, but her faith involved falling in love with her pastor, and the pain of that church branding her with the Scarlet Letter. Then, as an adult, she found a man that loved her unconditionally. They’re happy, they have two children together, but her hardships were not entirely behind her. They endured a still-birth and a miscarriage in the process. Today she looks for beauty in our godless world through macro and conceptual photography and poetry which can find on her blog “Words to a Silent God."    After the conversation with  Zoe, and Bob and I offer our post-show commentary, I tack on a section where I interact with an article posted in Psychology Today back in 2011 by psychotherapist Ken Page titled, “How To Love Yourself First: The least-honored and most powerful path to self-love.” Week after week, we talk with people who have not only done the difficult work of deconstructing their faith but invariably have had to discover how to love themselves after years, sometimes decades, of toxic religious self-debasement. Stories like Zoe’s embody the colossal achievement of raising one’s own chin to look one’s self in the mirror and affirm who you are…such that you can live out the remainder of your days looking people in the eye unashamed, unafraid, and free to bring your full human self—flaws and all--into the room.  This article prescribes some ways we can say yes to what is. We taped these conversations on September 25th, 2016. We hope to encourage people in the process of deconstructing their faith and help curb the loneliness that accompanies it. We think the world is a better place when more people live by sight, not by faith. Please subscribe to our podcast, give it 5 stars, and/or leave a review wherever you listen to podcasts. How can we help a mother who has experienced pregnancy loss? What should we say? What should we not say? Our two special guests devote their lives to the wellness of mothers and have suffered pregnancy loss themselves: clinical psychologist Dr. Jessica Zucker and training midwife Georgina Blanchard. Our first guest Dr. Jessica Zucker specializes in women's reproductive + maternal mental health and serves on the Medical Advisory Council of "Every Mother Counts". She has contributed to PBS’s "This Emotional Life", and started the #IHadAMiscarriage hashtag campaign that went viral. Our second guest Georgina Blanchard is in her final year of Midwifery studies at the Midwifery Education Program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. After our conversations, we clear the stage to share Georgina’s exquisite essay “Still Life” published in the Canadian journal “The Walrus", read by her sister, actress Rachel Blanchard with music by Georgina's husband John Showman. October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. We hope this episode helps in some small way. Please share with your mom community. x Ellie Please subscribe on iTunes.com/AtomicMoms!
