Welcome to the San Jose Hockey Now Podcast! This week, we have defenseman Henry Thrun to talk all about new San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky. (56:00)Warsofsky ran the defense last year and worked closely with all the defenders, Thrun included. Thrun shares his insights into Warsofsky's coaching and development style, and how he thinks next year will be different than last year. But first, Sheng and Keegan share their initial reactions to the hiring of Ryan Warsofsky and discuss some of the industry chatter about his reputation and coaching style. (02:15)Why does Warsofsky, now the youngest coach in the NHL, make sense for a rebuilding San Jose Sharks team? (08:50)Will they keep Brian Wiseman as a power play coach for next season? (12:00)Who should they bring in to coach the defense? (15:05)Why Warsofsky despite the Sharks having a terrible defense and penalty kill last season? (19:20)Why not Marco Sturm? (22:30)Lastly, we focus a bit on the upcoming 2024 NHL Entry draft, including adding a few more confirmed names to the Sharks' Combine interview list. (38:00)Now, it's time for the Henry Thrun interview! (56:00)We start off hot: Ryan's a coach who was part of a staff that led the San Jose Sharks to just 47 points last year. What's going to be different next season? (56:30)How did Henry think he got better under Warsofsky? (57:32)What makes Warsofsky a strong development coach? (1:00:45)How does his coaching style compare to David Quinn's? (1:02:20)Thrun shares just how direct Ryan's communication can be, and how that's helpful to his development. (1:03:55)Sheng asks about Warsofsky's competitiveness and shares a story about Ryan knocking over former Shark Steven Lorentz in practice in the AHL. (1:08:21)Finally, Henry shares his offseason plans and outlines some plans for late-summer scrimmages with Will Smith and Collin Graf. (1:10:22)Thanks for watching! ★ Support this podcast ★

Brett Howden can now call himself a Stanley Cup Champion.Howden, a key contributor in the Las Vegas Golden Knights Stanley Cup playoff run, shares his professional journey to this milestone during our 60 minute conversation.A western Canadian kid, Howden was originally drafted 5th overall to the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL and played 4 seasons with the team. After his second WHL season, where Howden produced 64 points in 68 games, Howden was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning 27th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry draft. Brett wasn't Lightning property for long though, as he was traded to the New York Rangers shortly after winning a gold medal at the 2018 U20 World Junior Championships. This trade was pivotal for Howden. He went from a powerhouse Stanley Cup favorite, loaded with depth, to a franchise that was rebuilding and wanted youth. Howden earned his way on to the Rangers in his rookie pro season and he hasn't looked back. This is where our conversation starts. Brett Howden candidly shares his journey to date and in true Up My Hockey style we dig into the lessons Howden has to provide.Enjoy!

Locked On Canadiens - Daily Podcast on the Montreal Canadiens
On today's episode, Jay Forster of Locked On Blue Jackets joins us to talk some Montreal Canadiens offseason miscellany. First, we talk about where we think Josh Anderson might be traded to if it came to it. We then talk about the NHL Entry draft and who we would each target if we were give the choice on behalf of our teams. How good is Matvei Michkov and what would he mean to a team that would take a chance on him. We then move on the Pierre-Luc Dubois chatter and address the perception that he is a spoiled "diva." Finally, while the Toronto Maple Leafs are in a state of uncertainty, we speculate on other teams that could use their five core players in Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, Morgan Reilly, and John Tavares. Locked On Coyotes Podcast - Daily Coverage of Arizona Hockey
It's another episode of the Locked On Coyotes "What If" series. On today's episode Robyn and Carl travel all the way back to 2008, Blake Wheeler, drafted 5th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry draft by the Phoenix Coyotes, is due up to sign his entry level contract. In this universe, Wheeler refused, opted for free agency, and signed his ELC with the Boston Bruins, and was then traded to the Atlanta Thrashers before its expiration. So today, let's take a look at an alternate Universe... a universe where Blake Wheeler walked into GM Don Maloney's office with his signed ELC in his hands. He has joined the Phoenix Coyotes and will play for head coach Wayne Gretzky.... How different would both his career path and Phoenix/Arizona's franchise trajectory have changed if this was the case? On this week's episode we're talking about the biggest stories of the first week of the 2020 Olympics. We had a flurry of trades, and buyouts leading into the NHL Entry draft. Cleveland rebrands their baseball team as the Guardians, and we talk about some possible trade candidates leading into the MLB trade deadline. We recap the second week of game play in the Big Brother house (spoiler alert - a lot of alliances come unravelled). Hosk has some stuff to talk about including the NBA Draft, Texas and Oklahoma heading for the SEC and we recap what's happening in the WWE. To close the show Jones takes us through another segment of The Grill where we answer some questions about where will Aaron Rodgers be at the end of the NFL season, where will Kyle Lowry land in NBA Free Agency and Ovechkin's chase for Gretzky's goal scoring record. Bonus Hosk and Jones delay the ending by arguing about which stick Gretzky used in the 90's. Mary Clarke and Andrew Berkshire start the podcast off by recapping the 2021 NHL Entry draft, with a specific focus on the Montreal Canadiens ruining it by making the tone deaf decision to pick Logan Mailloux, and both Marc Bergevin and Trevor Timmins being completely unable to explain why they were comfortable making that move.Moving into hockey related news, the hosts look at the rapid fire trades the Philadelphia Flyers have made, following up acquiring Ryan Ellis and ditching Shayne Gostisbehere with acquiring Rasmus Ristolainen and Cam Atkinson while losing a high first round pick, Jakub Voracek, and Robert Hagg.Other trades Andrew and Mary look into include the Chicago Blackhawks acquiring Seth Jones, the Vancouver Canucks acquiring Oliver-Ekman Larsson, and the Florida Panthers bringing in Sam Reinhart. To close out the podcast, the hosts cue up the upcoming free agent frenzy, and talk about the Olympics.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetOnline AGThere is only 1 place that has you covered and 1 place we trust. With 80 points on the season, Foerster made huge leaps in his game from one season to the next and found himself sky-rocking up the rankings over the past 12 months. Earlier in 2020, Foerster wasn't necessarily seen as a guarantee 1st round pick, but with the strides he made in his game made him a difficult player to pass up. The biggest knock on Foerster's game is his skating prowess and technique. This was the main issues that kept the scorer out of the spotlight, but that's where Paul Matheson comes in.Paul Matheson is Head of Skating Development for the Barrie Colts of the OHL and was tasked with improving Foerster's skating for the professional game. With a background in figure skating and playing hockey, Paul opened his own development program called Evolution Skating Development and brings 25 years of expertise to the table. Check out Yariv Wolok's (@ywolok) conversation about Tyson Foerster and the hard work he's put in since the season suddenly halted due to COVID-19. While most casual fans would sight Foerster's skating as an issue, it seems to us that they're behind on progress Tyson has made to evolve his game. Here's hoping he can blow everyone away at Flyers Dev Camp, whenever that happens...Please like and subscribe if you enjoy the podcast and our channel :)Check out our Team Store: https://teespring.com/stores/flyers-nitty-gritty-store-4

Episode 24 of the Pro Hockey Alumni Podcast features one of hockey's all-time best LW's — Brian Propp, who played 15 NHL seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars, Boston Bruins and the Hartford Whalers. After a unbelievable junior career with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WCHL, Brian was drafted by the Flyers in the first round, 14th overall in the 1979 NHL Entry draft. He'd go on to score 1,004 points over 1,016 NHL games and ranks second in Flyers history in goals (369, behind Bill Barber) and is second in assists (480, second behind Bobby Clarke) Brian Played in five NHL All Star games, five Stanley Cup Finals and played on the Star-Studded Team Canada squad in the 1987 Canada Cup. Brian was a sensational post-season player and holds the NHL's all time record for points by a left wing with 148. In 1999, Propp was named to the MasterCard Canadian Junior All-Time team, which also included Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur, Bobby Orr, Denis Potvin, and Bernie Parent — not bad company. Also in 1999, Propp was inducted into the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame. In 2014, Propp was inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. Brian has gone on to great success in the business world and remains an active with the Flyers Alumni. His recovery from a stroke he suffered in 2015 is truly inspirational. Easy-going on professional, Brian Propp is a “man of the people” and a real credit to the Flyers organization. Don't forget to subscribe rate and review us on iTunes. Chris and Brendon return, unlike it seems all NHL General Managers, to talk all of the nothing happening in the NHL. They talk farce at the Hilinka-Gretzky, Dart Guy scouting, before turning their focus on the 2009 NHL Entry draft. Will Tavares still go first? Yes. But the rest is interesting!
Zac is back and we are back to business as usual! Kind of. To be honest here boys we barely talk about Fantasy Hockey. It’s basically an hour of me and Zac shooting the shit and getting back into it. We treated this episode as a test run, as we’ve never done the video call podcast thing. Huge thanks to the guys @KeepingKarlsson for walking me through the process to get the video jawn up and running. I don’t want to discount the episode, we do talk some hockey. The thing is most Fantasy Hockey seasons are over, and it’s way too early to start talking drafts or NHL Entry projections or what have you. So just treat this entire episode like the intro to the Roto Show, where it takes an hour or so to get into the content, and next weeks show will be the meat and potatoes eh? (Winky Face/Kissy Face) Love you guys. This episode was researched with help from Tito’s Vodka.
Head coach of the Vegas Golden Knights Gerard Gallant joins OverDrive from the NHL Entry draft to discuss the expansion draft, what the process has been like and having a guy like Marc-Andre Fleury on the team.

Elan gets Cam’s take on all of the big trades involving fantasy relevant guys moving to and from Chicago, Arizona, Columbus, the New Yorks, Calgary, Edmonton, Philly and St. Louis. Next they discuss how Vegas did in the expansion draft and which players they expect to be impactful in fantasy for next year and beyond. Then to end the show Cam breaks down the top players that were taken in the NHL Entry draft as well of some potential steals and blunders that teams made in the first round.Players discussed in this episode include Artemi Panarin, Brandon Saad, Alex Wennberg, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Alex Debrincat, Nick Schmaltz, Marian Hossa, Tyler Motte, Anton Forsberg, Corey Crawford, Niklas Hjalmarsson, Connor Murphy, Laurent Dauphin, Antti Raanta, Derek Stepan, Anthony Deangelo, Maxi Domi, Clayton Keller, Oliver Ekman Larsson, Mika Zibanejad, Kevin Hayes, Ryan McDonagh, Brady Skjei, Kevin Shattenkirk, Ryan Strome, Jordan Eberle, Travis Hamonic, John Tavares, Anders Lee, Josh Bailey, Mathew Barzal, Josh Ho-Sang, Anthony Beauvillier, Jesse Puljujarvi, Kris Russell, Ryan Pulock, Nick Leddy, Brayden Schenn, Morgan Frost, Nolan Patrick, Jori Lehtera, Travis Konecny, Jaden Schwartz, Robbi Fabbri, Paul Stastny, Sean Couturier, Oskar Lindbom, Shea Theodore, Jonathan Marchessault, James Neal, Vadim Shipachyov, Reilly Smith, David Perron, Marc Andre Fleury, Calvin Pickard, Semyon Varlamov, Petr Mrazek, Nico Hischier, Miro Heiskanen, Cale Makar, Elias Pettersson, Cody Glass, Casey Mittelstadt, Owen Tippett, Gabriel Vilardi, Nick Suzuki, Callan Foote, Erik Brannstrom, Timothy Liljegren, Kailer Yamamoto, Eeli Tolvanen, Klim Kostin, Bo Horvat, Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin, Brock Boeser, Troy Stecher, Jacob Markstrom and Ryan Miller.* * * Download this episode, subscribe, and review us on iTunes!
