“I hope people feel a different perspective on life after reading my book,” says Howell. “I inject a lot of philosophy and satire into my work. I consider myself an absurdist, which is basically a nihilist with a goofy mustache. My concoctions offer a made-up world so people can be happy and feel free to debate the ideas put forth in my work. I love to engage the reader with humor.”“I've always been creating and making art,” says Howell. “In elementary school, I doodled in class and did not take notes. Schoolmates weighed in on how I should develop the characters and storylines. I love consuming and sharing stories, and to express myself in a very visual medium is great for getting certain ideas across.”Howell was discovered by his employer, Pencilmation, an online cartoon channel, after it saw his popular Jolly Biscuit comic drawings. He now storyboards for cartoons geared to children ages 6-12.
Guests Ray Brown and Andrew Howell join us to discuss their film '83 Days', a film that highlights George Stinney Jr.: A black teenager executed by electric chair after he was wrongfully convicted of murdering two white girls in 1944 South Carolina.

We are back from India just in time for the World Series in Houston and had the pleasure of hosting the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) for this week's COBT session. Joining us today are Andrew Howell (Director of Investor Influence) and Andrew Baxter (Director, Energy Transition) to discuss the launch of "ESG by EDF," a new platform which will leverage EDF's deep scientific and policy expertise for the benefit of the investment community. Their first report, "The Burning Question: How to Fix Flaring," looks at flaring data, with the intention of not just benchmarking company performance, but also to offer investors a more complete understanding of why flaring occurs, industry best practices and potential industry-wide solutions. In the conversation, we touch on the challenges of tackling flaring in less-regulated countries and some of the technologies that are making this possible, as well as the increasingly intense focus on curbing methane emissions. Like so many ESG issues, the solution to problems like flaring hinge on rational discourse which considers both the urgency of the issue as well as the practical challenges (e.g., maintaining safety standards) in resolving it. By providing the investor community a deeper understanding of these types of issues, our friends at EDF bring us one step closer to more of that much needed rational discourse. We had a really engaging discussion and can't thank both Andrews enough for sharing their time and expertise!First at bat is our TPH crew: Mike Bradley shared his analysis of what WTI prompt prices and time spreads are telling us. The answer weaves in oil storage projections for Cushing with recent energy headlines. After spending time with investors last week in Toronto, Matt Portillo discussed key themes from the trip, notably an emphasis on return to capital. Colin Fenton joined live from the Kayne Anderson Annual LP conference in LA and shared his observations from the Golden State. And our own ESG specialist, Craig Webster, was the natural clean-up hitter for our ESG discussion with EDF!----------Copyright 2021, Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. Our guest today is Dr Andrew Howell who leads the supernova group at the Las Cumbres Observatory and is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In other words, he's an astrophysicist. As a postdoctoral researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, he helped to confirm the acceleration of the universe, for which his mentor, Saul Perlmutter was awarded the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics. After that he moved to the University of Toronto, where he helped make the best measurements of the Dark Energy driving the acceleration of the universe. Andy is also the Principal Investigator of the Global Supernova Project, a worldwide collaboration to observe 1000 supernovae more intensely than has ever before been achieved. He's also been named to the list of the highest cited researchers in the world for the past two years. He is a co-author on more than 200 scientific papers, and has been instrumental in the discovery of several new classes of supernovae, including explosions brighter and dimmer than previously thought possible. His group co-discovered the first kilonova, a merger of two neutron stars, and helped to determine that they are the source of the heaviest elements in the universe like gold and platinum. This was widely heralded as the biggest scientific discovery of 2017, and Andy was selected by the National Science Foundation as one of a handful of scientists to make the official announcement in Washington, D.C. Andy also appears on and hosts radio and television shows about science for outlets such as National Geographic, The History Channel, and the BBC. Perhaps more surprisingly, he's also an accredited film critic who has written for sites such as Film Threat and Ain't It Cool News. His love of cinema inspired him to co-create the show Science Vs. Cinema, which he hosts. On the show he talks to both scientists and the cast and crew of films about the science portrayed in them. He's been a scientific consultant for books, comic books, and TV shows. He regularly gives public talks about science or the science in film all over the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvUp3vuKYjA Do you want to leave a legacy with an estate plan that transfers wealth and empowers the next generation? Find someone who is helping others do it successfully. And that means tailoring a customized, bespoke plan specifically to your family. Today we're talking with highly recognized estate planning attorney, Andrew Howell, about the principles and wisdom he's distilled from working with ultra-high net worth families and business owners. So if you want to know how to entrust wealth to future generations, provide for unity in the family, and leave a legacy of wisdom and opportunity so you can create an estate plan that transcends generations, tune in now! In this episode about estate planning to bridge generations, you'll discover: Why traditional estate planning fails at increasing family wealth and promoting character development. How the core of the Entrusted model of estate planning is about meaningful relationships. How to transfer wealth in a way that incentivizes work and stewardship instead of producing entitlement. The top 3 eroding effects on generational wealth. Why traditional estate planning that divides assets limits your family's ability to make an impact. Why leaving your money to charity creates a lost opportunity for your family. How to set up your family wealth as a bank to create opportunity, entrepreneurship, and accountability. Why the first priority to leaving a legacy is to know who you are as individuals and a family. Where Estate Planning Fits into Your Cashflow Creation System Encircling your family and assets with a bulletproof estate plan will maximize your peace of mind. But it's just one small step of a greater journey. That's why we've put together the 3-step Entrepreneur's Cash Flow System. The first step is keeping more of the money you make. This includes tax planning, debt restructuring, cash flow awareness, and restructuring your savings so you can access it as an emergency/opportunity fund. This step frees up and increases your cash flow, so you have more to save, and consequently, more to invest. Then, you'll protect your money with savings, privatized banking and legal protection. This is where estate planning fits in. You'll know that no matter what happens to you, your wishes will be carried out, your assets will remain intact, and your wisdom will empower generations after you. Finally, you'll put your money to work and get it to make more by investing in cash-flowing assets to build time and money freedom and leave a rich legacy. About Andrew Howell Andrew L. The Dentist Money™ Show | Financial Planning & Wealth Management
When is it time to get an estate plan? Or, if you already have one, how often should it be reviewed? And how do the requirements of an estate plan differ if you're a dentist? Wills, trusts, tax planning, asset protection—not the most exciting topics to bring up at family dinner. But the same people who join you at the table will be glad you planned ahead and kept them from having to track down all your assets. In this episode of Dentist Money™, Reese welcomes estate planning attorney, Andrew Howell, who explains why there's more to estate planning than most people think. He describes what happens if you die without an estate plan, three common fallacies about estate planning, and how a properly structured estate plan will protect your wealth while you're still living.
