POPULARITY
As a recovering people-pleaser, I can ONE HUNDRED PERCENT attest to the fact that we are motivated by fear. It's a survival tactic that tons of us learned to navigate abusive or chaotic childhoods. But the problem is that it doesn't end in childhood—we take people-pleasing into our friendships, our sex lives, our living situations, our professional spheres—literally everywhere. In this episode, I welcome therapist and people-pleasing coach Emily Nader to the pod to talk about people-pleasing without even knowing you're doing it (fuucckkkk), the connection between people-pleasing and anxious attachment, how we heal the instinct to people-please, and lots more. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thepatraumaparty/support

Recorded: May 9th 2024 | In this week's episode the boys are celebrating some good news as the Compton Family s adding a new member. Will is having another daughter and has a lot to unpack given how much he wanted a boy. He gets into how he isn't disappointed that it's a girl, he's more disappointed in the fact that he would like to try for a boy a third time and never saw himself with three kids. All in all, he's super stoked to have another girl. Following the intro, the guys drove down to Atlanta and sat dow with the boy, Kirk Cousins. We had Kirk on a couple years ago at the Super Bowl, but now he is on a new team. Will and Taylor talk to him about what the process was like getting signed by Atlanta and why he wanted to come here. The guys also ask Kirk how his recovery process is coming along after tearing his achilles in the middle of the season last year. Finally, Kirk talks about his feelings towards Michael Penix Jr. and what it's been like having him in the building. Overall, Kirk is one of the best guys you will ever meet, he's so genuine and is just a regular dude. You guys will for sure enjoy this pod. 0:00 Intro 9:56 The Compton Family Is Getting Bigger 22:08 Twisted QOTW 23:45 Gender Reveal 29:46 Nebraska Getting A Night Game 33:19 Shoutouts Of The Week 44:25 KIRK COUSINS INTERVIEW STARTS 44:31 Having A Vice 50:42 Kirk's Routine 57:39 Netflix's Quarterback Series 1:00:45 Raising Gritty Boys 1:04:04 Spending Habits 1:10:37 Choosing The ATL Falcons 1:15:40 Guaranteed Contracts 1:18:40 Tearing His Achilles 1:24:43 Love For Legos 1:27:59 Falcons Drafting Penix 1:37:43 Future of Kirk Cousins SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS Chevy: Head to https://chevy.com to check out all the Chevy truck grit and build your own Silverado. Q: Hello! I've been researching financing options for my startup, and I came across the SBA 7(a) program. I'm intrigued by the idea of obtaining 100% financing for my business through this program. Is it really possible to secure full funding for my startup through the SBA 7(a) program? If so, what are the requirements and steps involved in achieving this? I would greatly appreciate any insights you can provide. Thank you, Jonas If you'd like to meet with Beau to talk financing, book a call here ( http://bookwithbeau.com/ )

In today's late-stage catialist nightmare, where we're all expected to give 100% One Hundred Percent of the time, a break can feel like a luxury most of us can't afford. But what if it's the thing we need most in the world? What if the pause is the birthplace of regeneration, revolution, inspiration, intention, wisdom and rest? What if the pause is the main ingredient in thriving? How would you change how you move through the world? How would you embrace The Pause? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/britt-cannon/support

E7: Tim and Andrew dig into the topic of #GoGiving. They break down the difference between a contract, gift, and sacrifice, and share personal stories of those #leaders and individuals in their lives who have exemplified this concept. Being a go-giver is all about taking care of those in your #sphere of #influence without an expectation for return; and we acknowledge that as leaders this can be hard to do. Recently, housing activist/expert, government affairs professional, and respected land use lawyer Tom Coale was announced as a partner at Maryland powerhouse firm Perry, White, Ross & Jacobson. Now, Coale joins an episode of The Lobby Pod. Tom says Maryland needs a more aggressive approach to creating housing that provides for all Marylanders. Tom elegantly dismantles the legacy Nimby-culture with a lexicon featuring facts, fairness, and transparency for a simple mission: more housing. Also, if you love local news, let's thank Tom for his civic and civil Saturday WBAL Radio talk show and his legal work for Save Our Sun. Speaking of local, hear Tom's strong experientially-based endorsement for Maryland Stadium Authority nominee and fellow Howard County resident Yolanda Maria Martinez.

Nonieqa Ramos shares Beauty Woke, a powerful story of pride and community, told with bold lyricism and the heart of a fairy tale, and readers looking for a next-generation Sleeping Beauty will fall in love with the vivid art and lyrical text. BOOK DESCRIPTION: Beauty Woke by Nonieqa Ramos; illustrated by Paola Escobar Page Length: 32 pages Ages 4 to 7, Grades P to 3 Beauty Woke is a powerful story of pride and community, told with bold lyricism and the heart of a fairy tale, and readers looking for a next-generation Sleeping Beauty will fall in love with the vivid art and lyrical text. Beauty is a Puerto Rican girl loved and admired by her family and community. At first, she's awake to their beauty, and her own--a proud Boricua of Taíno and African descent. But as she grows older, she sees how people who look like her are treated badly, and she forgets what makes her special. So her community bands together to help remind her of her beautiful heritage. NOTABLE QUOTES: (6:50) “You are loved. You are adored. There are teachers who love and adore you. There are so many people out there who think you matter. You're special. And you do [matter].” (8:58) “What do we do when we know that the child is going to experience hurtful things? We prepare them. We say to them that, “No matter what you hear, if anybody says something mean about your skin color or that you're from, you know, from Puerto Rico or Cuba or wherever it is, or that's your LGBT, that's all false. That's not true. That's all lies. The truth is your beauty.” (10:49) “[Being woke] means to appreciate the beauty of where you come from, your history, the beauty of who you can become. All of the parts of you. All of the parts of you, no matter what it is that is out there or that's going to confuse you and try to make you think otherwise.” (13:05) “Sometimes when we create something, we can change something that's sad or that makes us feel helpless into something good.” (14:30) “There are so many adults who have never, ever, ever gotten to experience a picture book that not only represented, you know, what they look like, what they sounded like, which is absolutely vital. But also, you know, what they were going through. And validating them and saying, “Yes, that's real. What you went through is real. And,” for example, “if you're hearing hurtful words, I'm sorry that happened.” And “This is a process of healing for you.” (20:38) “t's a great opportunity to just really be a hundred percent loving who we are as humans.” (25:22) “I would like to ask, have you hugged yourself today? Have you talked to yourself today and said something kind to you? How are you going to take care of your mind and your body and your heart today? That's what I want you to ask. ” ADDITIONAL LINKS: NoNieqa Ramos Website - nonieqaramos.com Purchase the Book - Beauty Woke Purchase the Book - Your Mama TALK ABOUT THE EPISODE: What can you recall from the telling of Sleeping Beauty you first heard? What feelings come to mind when you think of this place? What is one flag with which you associate strongly? Maybe it's a flag that represents your favorite sports team, or your Scout troop, or you state or country, or part of your identity. How would you describe this flag? After three concussions she began to experience a change in her personality, memory loss, anxiety, major depression, and suicidal. This is a story of a family's courage and perseverance as they worked tirelessly to find treatment for their daughter and rescue her from the devastation she was experiencing. In Olivia's words, "even though you don't feel like yourself, you're still in there.. there's still ways to access yourself even if you feel like you can't... just keep going, it'll really work out."
Aloha and welcome to the Sobriety Rocks Podcast! Today we talk about Giving One Hundred Percent.Viola Davis said "Your ability to adapt to failure, and navigate your way out of it, absolutely 100 percent makes you who you are." Recovery has taught me that we aren't forgiven just because we promise to be good from now on. We have to earn our way back, and giving everything we've got, one hundred percent, is the price. My one hundred percent started with me admitting my addiction, then moved into a one hundred percent effort to go through all twelve steps while clean up the mess of my past life with everything I had. I didn't like it at first, but today it seems like a small price to pay to get to be whole again. Do 100% of the work with 100% of our effort for as long as it takes and we get 100% of the rewards. Forgiveness, understanding, peace, freedom, happiness, love, truth, hope, faith, community, light, joy, comfort, security, and so much more. The beautiful thing is, when we do one hundred percent of the twelve steps, we're provided 'the elements of a living which answer all our problems', and more often than not, given a life that is far superior to the one we had before. Today I choose one hundred percent. I want to be able to say 'I did everything I could. There was nothing more I could do. I gave everything I had, and my life is a reflection of that.' How about you?We close with a brief meditation to bring us peace and freedom.Thank you for joining us. No one can possibly be happy, or optimistic, or fulfilled, or grateful, or passionate about like one hundred percent of the time. A great fallacy that is sold to us from the personal growth industry is that we can "manifest" our best lives by thinking the right way all of the time, and that something might be wrong with us - that we need to GROW more - if we aren't happy all the time. Guess what. It's normal for happy, successful, fulfilled people to feel like poo every so often. That's called being human. In this episode, we look at better ways to frame our current state, to weigh the good with the bad, and to be grateful for what simply is. Connect with me on my website, instagram, and TikTok pages.
Are our favorite teams still saddled with Problematic Players? You bet. Are we tired of these things keeping us from the game we love? One Hundred Percent! In this episode we work our way through and beyond the messiness and get back to the joy of the sport. We catch up on our teams, make a (very) small case for Torts being the right coach for Philly and how World Juniors hit a bit different in Canada this year. We give props to Boston for their “man, we really screwed up and we have a plan to fix that” after the Mitchell Miller Debacle. (And yes, our fingers are crossed it’s not just performative.) In short, hockey is still a beautiful game and we miss talking about it so here’s how we’re going to do it…by finding our hockey joy wherever we can. We hope you join us! New to Hockey? We are here for you. Drop us a tweet or email us at beginnerspuck@gmail.com and we’ll help you navigate this wild, fantastic landscape! Erika Ensign and Deborah Stanish.

The Dancing Girls by Edna Ferber audiobook. The Dancing Girls is just one of the 4 excellent short stories in this recording. All written by the master, Edna Ferber for magazines between 1910 and 1919 they naturally contain her unique mix of real people, sadness, joy and always humor. The lead Story, The Dancing Girls, is my favorite for the way she paints a picture of mid America small town society and how good people somehow (and sometimes) can find their way to each other. Other stories in this collection are Old Lady Mandel; Long Distance; and One Hundred Percent

You know what they say, Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result; that same thing is true for our listener's husband. Wendy has been married for a total of one month and is ready to call things quits. Her husband is going to dinner with the woman he had an affair with in his last marriage! Of course, he claims that they're only friends and that Wendy has nothing to worry about, but seriously, whom does he think he's fooling; at least that's what Moe says. “He clearly doesn't want to be married! Why do you keep getting married and then running back to this woman? This is one of the situations where somebody will say "It's not that easy." Of course, it's not, it is never easy to leave someone, but I am leaving... ONE HUNDRED PERCENT!” Kristin on the other hand would handle things a little bit differently. “I'm pissed too and I agree with everything you said, however, I am not leaving. We're a month into this marriage, when he gets home, be like "we need to talk." and I expressed how I felt and you still went. That was your one and only time to go out to dinner with her. This is how I feel, I need you to respect that and not turn this around on me; and then if he's adamant that he's gonna go out with her again, that's your chance to bow out.” To make matters worse, he completely manipulates the situation and accuses our listener of being controlling, and threatened to leave her over this. Her husband has no intention of missing this dinner, leaving Wendy so very confused. So, she reached out to the Bert show for advice. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

“I speak to people all the time that go, ‘I can't do this because… of my age. Because of my gender. Because of my sexual preference. Because I've got hair. Because I've got no hair. Because of my accent. Because of where I was born. Because of the color of my skin. Because of the school I went to, or didn't go to.' People are carrying all of that, all of the time. This episode contains explicit language and sensitive subject matter. In 2019, more than 350 Police Officers and Fire Fighters died by Suicide. This is the story of a Police Officer who intended to take her life multiple times but through good fortune, one good supervisor who listened, and making a call to Code4 NW, did not carry it through. Her story includes losing her father to suicide, grieving for an officer who died in the line of duty, two attempts to talk to a fellow officer (including a peer support member) that were far from ideal, and even a call to a First Responder hotline (not Code4NW), that was of no help at all. Fortunately she was connected to a fantastic counselor and with the help of Code 4NW, got the help she needed at a treatment facility. Thank you Devon for your courage to share your experience so others who hear it may be helped.Music in this episode:Wah Game Loop by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4602-wah-game-loopLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-license

Life is an aggregate of the days we are alive. Whatever I am doing or not doing today is a direct contribution to the totality of how my life will turn out. The secret we have each day we are alive is to give 100% oxidation to our efforts. I have this concept: that interviews are not carried out in boardrooms. No. Each day, life is conducting an interview with the opportunities we have. What percentage we give in life today determines what percentage we get out of life. Rewards and actions are not that directly proportional, but more attracts more, and less attracts even much less. Listen to this.
