"What you get is what you life for" - ShaolinInfluencer. Isra Garcia interviews Coach Shen (known as ShaolinInfluencer) about living the Shaolin experience, street dancing, fighting, teaching Shaolin combat, the influence of dancing, building your character, mastering oneself, looking for the Shaolin Way, and more. Sometimes, life brings us to places where tradition and modernity collide, and in that intersection, we meet people who transform how we see the world. This is one of those stories. Years ago, Isra Garcia found himself stepping through the gates of the Shaolin Temple Europe, a place steeped in ancient wisdom and timeless discipline. It was here, surrounded by the serenity of the monastery and the powerful rhythm of martial arts, that Isra first encountered Coach Shen (Xiao Shen), known as ShaolinInfluencer—a change agent and disruptor who redefines what it means to live the Shaolin way. "The more unconscious about my body, the more I feed my consciousness" - ShaolinInfluencer. His paths crossed amidst the temple's unique atmosphere, where silence and movement create a language of their own. Coach Shen stood out—not just as a teacher of Shaolin arts, but as someone who seamlessly blends combat techniques, mindful living, and the boundless energy of breakdance and free form movement. His presence, his energy, and his philosophy captivated Isra, sparking a connection that has stayed with us ever since. Today, in this very special episode, Isra sits down with Coach Shen (ShaolinInfluencer) for an intimate and dynamic conversation. Together, we explore his journey, his evolution as a Shaolin instructor, and how he balances the ancient and the modern to craft a teaching style that is as innovative as it is rooted in tradition. "If every day you combine one movement, at the end of the year you have 365 moves" - Shaolin Influencer. In the heart of Europe, at the Shaolin Temple Europe, emerges a figure who perfectly embodies the fusion of ancient tradition and modernity: Coach Shen. As an instructor at this Buddhist monastery located in Otterberg, Germany, Coach Shen not only imparts the ancient teachings of Shaolin but also enriches them with contemporary elements, creating a truly unique experience for his students. Coach Shen's life is a testament to the harmonious integration of seemingly contrasting disciplines and lifestyles. His training in Shaolin martial arts has granted him a deep understanding of Kung Fu, traditional combat and other traditional practices. Yet, his passion for movement led him to explore breakdance and freestyle dance, disciplines that demand exceptional agility, strength, and creativity. "I influence the modern side and the Shaolin side" - ShaolinInfluencer. His disruptive approach has resonated within the Shaolin Temple Europe community, attracting students eager for a learning experience that transcends traditional teachings. Through his instruction, Coach Shen proves that martial arts and dance are not opposing disciplines but complementary paths to self-discovery and personal mastery. In this episode, we'll delve into Coach Shen's journey, his teaching philosophy, and how he has seamlessly woven the ancient art of Shaolin with the vibrant expressions of modern movement. Join us on this journey to discover how tradition and innovation can coexist and enrich each other in the pursuit of balance and inner harmony. "When dancing, whenever you want to do it, you do it... For today's episode, I'm honoured to welcome Master Shi Heng Yi. He belongs to the 35th generation of Shaolin Masters and began practising Kung Fu at the age of four. In the 36 years since, he's acquired a wealth of knowledge in Chinese martial arts and Zen Buddhism. He's now headmaster of the Shaolin Temple Europe in Germany, responsible for the physical and mental development of all the students and disciples of the Buddhist Order in Otterberg. Along with the free videos he posts regularly to YouTube, Shi Heng Yi has several online training courses via his website, to help teach the basics of the ancient practices he lives by. He wants to bring the wisdom of ‘self-mastery' to the world in a practical, tangible way – and he does just that in this episode. This is a wonderful, profound conversation that explores what self-mastery means. While mastering a skill can be taught by others, self-mastery is a personal matter. Our awareness is naturally drawn outwards in life, so we need to cultivate the ability to look inwards. We discuss some of the ways we can start to do this, from practices of mindfulness and gratitude, to following a structured day. Shi Heng Yi explains what we can learn from the restrictions of temple life, how to identify our attachments and find happiness and freedom within us. Self-mastery, he says, means choosing the middle path of harmony, balance and stability. We discuss the notion of ‘owning' ideas and wisdom and discuss the fact that there is no truly original thought. Shi Heng Yi explains that he is not sharing his teachings with the world, only what he has learned and witnessed in life. Everything is infinite so already exists somewhere. Finally, Master Shi Heng Yi explains a beautiful concept – and caution – that our thoughts can shape our destiny. It really was a privilege for me to have an in-depth discussion with such a knowledgeable, wise and compassionate man. I hope you enjoy listening.Support the podcast and enjoy Ad-Free episodes. “Just getting to know what is Buddhism, which is the foundation of every monastery. The Shaolin Temple is in the core, first of all it's a Buddhist monastery and when you are starting to read about Buddhism, one of the key sentence in the beginning is: With your thoughts you are creating the world…So it's very rarely clearly stated that it is the thoughts that are creating the world. Nevertheless, if you are now looking at the practices that the Shaolin Temple offers, that is quite physical. There is a lot of physicality in there, so you might think but why are you saying with thoughts you create the world, but you have so many different physical activities. It is because if you want to have mental freedom. If you want to approach freedom, you cannot just approach freedom by doing things or trying to chase freedom. The freedom that we are looking for is the type of freedom that is derived and that is very closely related to its counterpart, which is very hard restriction or very hard structure. So if you want to experience what freedom is, look at the restrictions of your life.”For more than 30 years, Master Shi Heng Yi has been studying and practicing the interaction between mind and body. Part 2 - Keith Otterberg has been a life long teacher who firmly believes that the New Earth is coming and there are some that are getting ready to ascend to 4D. Give me the skinny: what is ascension? Do I have to die to ascend?Nope, just do some work on yourself. Seems impossible: all negative thinking will disappear? We have to work on it, but yes. The Earth will be an entirely positively-oriented world. So does ascension happen all the time? Do people ascend on their own?Yes, but this one is a first: the Earth and its inhabitants are ascending all at once. And we'll be able to manifest anything we want? Instantly?Going to take some work to get there. What will society look like?Kind of a 'Star Trek' future: no pollution, no crime, the Earth restored to its natural beauty, and the ability to manifest what we want instantly (without replicators) So the aliens, where do they fit in to this whole thing?Turns out, we need to work on our own development before we can even see them (at least the positive ones, the negative aliens are another matter) Wait a second, so all this Ancient Aliens shit is real? We were genetically created by aliens?Yup, but it's way more complicated than that. The conspiracy theorists are right? A "cabal" has been controlling us? How does that even work? It's a long story, but think about it, it seems like every time in history things were going well, someone or some society came along and wrecked it. Working backwards: 9/11, JFK/RFK/MLK, Hitler, WWI, and on and on. So the Earth (or Gaia) has a consciousness? Is this just some hippy-dippy stuff? What does the Earth have to do with it?Turns out, Earth has been around the block and came back just to help us ascend. “You and me talking right now, the people who are listening right now, in a hundred years none of us will be here on this earth anymore. When it comes to the individual, it's always just a question of time until you will be forgotten and this is why it is so important that there is something in our tradition we call “because it's not the individual, it cannot be lost”. This is when you are investing a part of your lifetime in trying to add something to the spirit, what exists in this world. Sometimes you call it the zeitgeist. Sometimes you call it the consciousness of our earth. It means always ask yourself how can you, with the way you think, with the work that you do, with the way you behave, with the actions that you do–how can you add a piece of spirit? How can you contribute to the spirit that is going to remain even after after your individual death?”For more than 30 years, Master Shi Heng Yi has been studying and practicing the interaction between mind and body.
