In Part 1 of Episode 37, I'm thrilled to be joined for the 100th time by Tom Patri, along with a special return visit from the 1989 Open Champion, Mark Calcavecchia. Tom Patri and I kick things off by reflecting on last week's Scottish Open and Robert MacIntyre's impressive victory. We also discuss the ISCO Championship and the close call for Pierceson Coody, a rising star Tom has been touting. Mark Calcavecchia returns to share memories from his triumph at the 1989 Open Championship, held at this year's venue, Royal Troon. He discusses the challenges of the 123-yard 8th hole, famously known as The Postage Stamp, and recounts his long par save on the 11th hole, the slam dunk chip shot he made on the 12th that shifted his mindset, and what it felt like standing over a 7-footer on the final playoff hole with three putts to win. Mark also shares his prediction for who will be holding the Claret Jug this Sunday afternoon.

We kick off Season 10 with a bang featuring conversations with my guests 4-time Instructor of the Year Tom Patri, 5-time winner on the PGA Tour Jim Gallagher Jr., 1978 PGA Champion & 1986 Players Champion John Mahaffey, and the Founder of On Point Golf Briston Peterson. Tom Patri shares his thoughts on the battle between LIV Golf & the PGA Tour, his time spent with Arnold Palmer, why he thinks we need to watch out for Pierceson Coody, and in our new segment Tom's Tip of the Week, hear why we all need to take our 4 iron out and put a 7-wood in the bag. Jim Gallagher Jr. talks about joining his wife Cissye as an inductee into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. We go back and hear about Jim's big win at the 1993 Tour Championship and taking home the biggest check in PGA Tour history at the time. We also talk about what it was like for him to be sitting in the lead after the first round of the 1991 Masters. We get to hear what it was like for John Mahaffey when he came back from 3 strokes down with 4 holes to play to win the 1986 Players Championship and what it was like standing on that 18th tee trying to win that tournament. We also talk about his wins at the 1979 Bob Hope Desert Classic and teaming with Joann Carner to win the 1982 JC Penney Mixed Team Classic. Plus John is a great writer. We hear about his great murder mystery series of books that started with "Shafted", and the second book in the series, "Unfinished Business" just came out. The third book, "Dead Quiet", is in editing right now and will hopefully be out soon. Get your copies of all John's books by going online to www.johnmahaffeyauthor.com or on Amazon. Briston Peterson is the Founder of On Point Golf. Their 3D ball markers have captured the attention and imagination of the golf world. Jim Furyk saw a prototype and now uses one. We hear about the concept, and how it helps improve focus on the putting line so we can make more putts. I know I'll have some in my bag from now on. Check out why Jim Furyk and I like them so much by going online to www.onpointgolf.us

Froggy sits down with Korn Ferry pro Pierceson Coody as they discuss his next event at the Honda Classic, adjusting to pro golf from Texas, turning down a LIV golf offer, and more!
Off to the sunshine state! The Honda Classic is two days away, and we're here with the latest news and notes. Golf Channel reporter Rex Hoggard is on site at the golf course with insight from the pros on a three-hole stretch at PGA National in that gives the infamous "Bear Trap" closing stretch a run for its money. Harry Higgs is in the field this year! The fan favorite discusses what he's working on to sharpen his mental game, and reminisces on his and Joel Dahmen's viral moment on the 16th green at TPC Scottsdale last season. A pair of familiar faces find themselves in the field with Higgs this week. Pierceson and Parker Coody made names for themselves with standout careers at the University of Texas, where they won the men's team national title last year. They're both in the field this week, and they stop by to share their goals and what they're most excited about. Meanwhile, LPGA rookie Sam Wagner is getting ready for her much-anticipated debut! Last season Wagner missed out on LPGA Tour membership by a stroke due to a self-reported penalty stroke in Q-School. She shares her story of accountability, resilience, and strength with us as she prepares for her first season as a full member after graduating Q-School this year. 2021 National Champion and 2x Korn Ferry Tour winner Pierceson Coody join Charlie and Will to discuss his whirlwind first two years as a professional golfer. Last week, at just 23 years of age, Coody won his second professional event at The Panama Championship. The guys also talked to Pierceson about the mental aspect of overcoming two injuries, and finish up the conversation with a Super Bowl pick.
Andy and Brendan record this late Sunday episode with some reactions from a wind-and-weather delayed weekend at Pebble Beach. Andy is back from the grounds with some more tidbits and insights, and some questions about Brent Grant, specifically who he is. There's also chatter about Justin Rose, Peppy Peter, Andy mushing Denny McCarthy's hot round, and the future of the event after another underwhelming field this year. They also discuss CBS's shot predictor feature in what was a weekend of love for the broadcast. The Saudi International, DP World Tour, and KFT winners are all given their dues, with particular angst about Pierceson Coody stuck down in the minors. News hits on the incredible outrage over the Swilcan Bridge patio and the Phoenix Open field that includes a bunch of heavy hitters, a loaded Monday qualifier, and the Dutch Boy.

Golf delivered again on Sunday with compelling dramas, handshake controversies, and coverage angst. Andy and Brendan begin with the Women's PGA Championship, where Lexi Thompson had another torturous Sunday collapse in a major. They compare it to last year's slow bleed at Olympic, and wonder how she can keep coming back. There are also some kind words on Congressional and harsher words for the pace of play and a skimpy broadcast window. Xander's weekend at the Travelers is assessed, both good and bad, and the thrill of Theegala, both good and bad, is also praised. They ponder the Tour's next move in light of Pierceson Coody's impressive showing after turning down LIV money while Oklahoma State stud Eugenio Chacarra turned pro to take the LIV cash. Nick Faldo's segment on Brooks running off to LIV is also discussed. Finally, there's delight and appreciation expressed for Haotong and Paddy's victories.
