Do you ever wonder what it's like to be a producer for some of the most watched and highly rated daytime television shows? In this episode, my guest is the Emmy Award winning TV Producer, and media coach Amy Rosenblum. She has been a force in the broadcast business for over thirty years. Amy began her career at CBS news, where none other than Andy Cohen was an intern, and won an Emmy for a special report she produced with Dan Rather on “Women and AIDS”. Amy's TV career reads like a who's who in the world of daytime talk... Amy was Senior Producer of “The Joan Rivers Show”. Ratings grew, Joan won a Daytime Emmy and Amy and Joan found a lifelong friendship that was truly a bond more like sisters. Next stop Amy was Co-Executive producer on “The Sally Jessy Raphael Show” doubling ratings and from there she went to the “Maury” show where she "single handedly ruined America" (her words lol) by creating the on air paternity test. Amy caught the eye of NBC's Jeff Zucker, who brought her to Today Show as a Senior Producer. She later created the 10 am hour with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee and paired the two which created the perfect on screen co-host chemistry! Amy now runs her own incredibly successful media training and client management company 'So you wanna be on tv?'You are not going to want to miss this conversation as Amy shares her journey, her challenges and how she continues to create her #cannonballmoments.Click here to learn more about Amy and her media training businessClick here to visit Amy's Instagram---Ready to redefine menopause? Amy Kuo is a film producer, founder of Animon Studios, a fervent advocate for women, LGBTQ+ and POC communities, as well as 2nd generation Taiwanese-Chinese American. Amy founded Anamon Studios to build a more inclusive future through animation. In the process, she also created a movie production bootcamp for underrepresented young professionals seeking to break into the hyper-competitive animation industry. Her latest animated short film, Let's Eat, chronicles the relationship between an immigrant mother and her daughter as the two navigate their new lives in America. The film was crowdfunded through a successful Kickstarter, and brought to life with a team of 150+ volunteers. Prior to her career in animation, Amy was a computer science graduate from UC Berkeley and a product manager at an enterprise cloud company in the Bay Area. During this time, she moonlighted in digital animation, and landed a career transforming opportunity for herself working on blockbusters including Black Panther, Ready Player One and Thor: Ragnarok. In this episode we chat with Amy about grit in the face of adversity, harnessing opportunity, and creating an outsized impact through sharing success. The TV Writer Podcast is back, better than ever! Host Gray Jones has moved permanently to LA, and the podcast now features exclusive in-person video interviews with Hollywood TV writers and producers. This week's fun episode is with Amy Berg, co-creator of the new web series Caper, and producer/writer for Person of Interest, Eureka, Leverage, and The 4400. Amy Berg is a self-confessed power nerd, and her office proves it! Gray & Amy have fun geeking out over her collection of sci fi figurines, before getting down to business. What gutsy move fresh out of college landed her a meeting with Joss Whedon? How did a failed interview lead to her first staff TV writing job, at 22 years old? How was it a good thing that she lost out on a job to Jane Espenson? How did a spec script from the point of view of a dog kick her career into high gear? What's her advice about “gimmick” scripts? And how did she end up creating a web series after so many years producing television? Speaking about Caper, check out new episodes every Wednesday, plus lots of bonus content at Geek and Sundry!
