Cardboard Cave is a board game podcast focusing on one game per episode. Listen as Trevor and Anna cover everything from the hottest hits and modern classics to forgotten games you just never hear about anymore. Welcome to the Cave! On this episode, Anna and Trevor had way too many games they played over the holidays to cram into a normal episode, so they made a whole episode just sharing their thoughts on the games played over the last couple of weeks. Games discussed on this episode: Last Will, Le Havre, Ice Cool, Steampunk Rally, Trains, Quacks of Quedlinburg, Raccoon Tycoon, and Asking for Trobils. If you want to hear their quick takes on a BUNCH of games, this is the episode for you! Welcome to the Cave: please ignore the colony of bats nesting near the upstairs bathroom. They moved in last week due to a new lake forming in their prior cove of the cave.

And so I thought in talking with this individual why not bring him on the show, and let's start having regular reoccurring content for you because it's about gaming experiences with other people. And so what better way to do that than to bring in other people surprise? So with all that being said. Is my absolute pleasure to introduce one of my best friends, and that is Josh, Josh can you let listeners know you're here and a little bit about yourself, Schorr? So Hello listeners. My name is Josh Isringhausen. I have like BRUCE'S alluded to been kind of, behind the scenes talking to Bruce about this show really kind of sense it's inception, and it's been something I've taken a great interest in, I met, Bruce, actually weirdly enough, I think we met through board games. Yeah. We did. We did even though we worked at the same place. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. At board games. We came to find out that, that we actually worked together and just hadn't encountered. One another. So, yeah, we came together because of a meet up, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The, the board game up there in. We've had a lot of really great gaming experiences BRUCE'S one of the people who I convince me to go to my first convention. And so now even though we no longer live or work in the same place, still have the shared connection for our love aboard games and the experiences that we've had and continue to have when we do have a chance to get together and game. Yes. So sadly, Josh moved away. But in that it's actually still great. Because board games have been able to keep us connected. So we've been able to keep reaching out and saying, hey, what games even able to try,
Inspired by disparate reactions to Escape Plan in our game group we find ourselves delving into what makes a game objectively better, if that is a thing (16:04), as well as ego in gaming. We also review Push (4:13) and a previously reviewed title, Raccoon Tycoon in more detail (11:57). We end the show with a book segment (34:18). Listen for these discussions and segments and all the nonsense in between you have come to expect from Hooked on Geek. Enjoy!

With our hosts once again joined by Ant, they get into some recently played games. Ant expanded the Mind, shot hard in Pirate Billiards, and gave Russia energy in Power Grid. Adrian and Zach found nothing on the Island of El Dorado then built neighborhoods in Welcome To before Adrian connected resources in The Great Zimbabwe. And Jeff drank a bunch of Malort and played a mixed bag of board and videos games during his trip to Chicago. After Ant takes over the Bloody Minute they all move on to News and Kickstarters where online retail taxes might kick in and you can start planning your GenCon trip. In Kickstarters, Raccoon Tycoon takes center stage, followed by Billionaire Sergeant and the pair of minis games: The Hunters and Overturn. A couple Emails, another patreon comment, and a youtube comment close out the show. 00:00:34 - Intro Banter!
