It's part of growth and it's part of running a business. If you're not somebody who embraces change and who really wants to find a better way constantly then you're not going to be in business for too long. The new member orientation process is pivotal in securing a long-term customer. Rachel believes that using a combination of personality typing and personalized communication via heart rate monitors, intimate emails sent after workouts, as well as speaking to the new member in the language they most understand will create a loyal customer who becomes an advocate for your fitness facility. As successful club owners like Rachel take a deeper look into the technology solutions that are rapidly entering our space, it's not just about collecting data for data sake. What's most important is that we collect data with the primary intention of constantly improving and enriching the customer experience. Power Quotes From Rachel "If you're not delegating responsibility to your staff and trying to run everything on your own, you're actually keeping your team from stepping into roles that they can accel at and bring even more value to your company. When you choose to not let go and have your staff take over the roles they deserve, you're essentially being selfish as an operator." - Rachel Cosgrove on the Fitness + Technology Podcast "Change is inevitable, it's part of growth and running a business. If you're not somebody who embraces change and who really wants to find a better way constantly, then you're not going to be in business for too long." - Rachel Cosgrove on the Fitness + Technology Podcast "Members are craving personal connection now more than ever. Alwyn Cosgrove @alwyncosgrove is one of the most respected fitness professionals on the globe and someone who I consider a friend and mentor. I knew when I put the mics on that this episode would be an instant classic and a conversation that we couldn’t complete in 30 minutes. I was right! We had such an amazing time talking about fitness, business and philosophy of living life to the fullest that we had to break it into 2 parts. In the first 1/2 we discuss how Alwyn created his training philosophy and built business systems that turned Results Fitness into one of the most successful gyms in America. We also tackle a controversial subject while discussing the business of being a great presenter and why it has become a male dominated field. You may be surprised to hear why there are only a handful of female presenters on the fitness seminar circuit including his wife, Rachel Cosgrove, who is one of my favourites! Results Fitness is all about getting results! Alwyn and I discuss weight loss and what is the driver behind the desire to lose weight. If you don’t get down to the “why” you will never truly get the results. We also share tips for new trainers that want to make the fitness industry a career instead of being a stepping stone to your next job. All this and more in this 1st part of t a 2 parter that is guaranteed to be one of the years most downloaded episodes! Enjoy It! It’s Spartan World Championships Week. And this week we talk to two Spartan World Championships competitors with completely different stories! We start by debuting our new Seasoned Firsts segment. This segment features people who are stepping outside their comfort zones to try new challenges for the very first time. Whether it’s a race, event, competition or new sport, we want to know what drives these people to challenge themselves in this new way. Today we introduce 48-year old Julie Jensen, who is competing in her very first Spartan Race at the notoriously difficult Spartan Race World Championships in Lake Tahoe. In our main interview, we talk to 43-year old Rachel Cosgrove of Santa Clarita, California. Rachel owns and operate Results Fitness, named one of the top ten gyms in the US by Men’s Health Magazine. She’s the best-selling author of The Female Body Breakthrough and Drop Two Sizes. In 2012, Rachel earned the title of IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year. She has competed as a triathlete, a powerlifter, and in the last year, she made a name for herself as a competitive obstacle course racer. Some of Rachel’s recent OCR stats include earning a 3rd place Masters finish at EPIC Series in 2017, a 3rd place age group finish at the 2017 Big Bear Spartan Beast, 2nd in the 40-49 age group at the 2018 SoCal Spartan, and 3rd place in the 40-49 age group at the 2018 Big Bear Spartan Beast, which also punched her ticket to the 2018 Spartan World Championships as an age group competitor.
