On December 3, 1998, Wisconsin police were called to the home of Mark and Julie Jensen. Mark said he found his wife dead in her bed. Initially, police suspected Julie died by suicide, but a letter she had previously written expressed her suspicion that Mark might kill her. A series of toxicology tests revealed there was small amount of ethylene glycol, the main ingredient in antifreeze, in Julie's stomach. “48 Hours" correspondent Erin Moriarty reports. On December 3, 1998, 39-year-old Mark Jensen called 911 to report that something was terribly wrong with his wife, 40-year-old Julie Jensen. He had arrived home to find her lying in bed, looking as if she were simply resting. She looked perfectly fine, healthy even. But she wasn't breathing. First responders arrived within minutes, but their efforts were in vain—Julie was already gone, and it was clear she had been dead for some time. But how? There were no visible signs of injury or trauma, no evidence of drug use or anything that could explain her sudden death. The questions began to pile up: How could someone who seemed so healthy die so suddenly? What had really happened behind the closed doors of the Jensen home that day? The answers would be more shocking than anyone could have imagined. On the late afternoon of December 3, 1998, Mark Jensen called 911 from his Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin home to report that his wife, 40-year-old Julie Jensen, was found dead in bed. When the police arrived, Mark suggested Julie might have died from an allergic reaction to new medication, he said she had been sick for a few days before her death. However, as the police looked around, they grew suspicious about the circumstances surrounding Julie's death. They called in the medical examiner's office and the district attorney's office, both of which agreed that something was off. An investigation was opened, and it was soon discovered that for weeks before her death, Julie was deeply concerned that Mark, her husband of 14 years, was going to murder her. This latest novel arose from a month-long trial in which the accused, Mark Jensen was charged with murdering his wife, Julie, by antifreeze poisoning. Ken found out along the way that the true story was hidden within the experiences of twelve strangers thrown together and charged with judging the fate of a man.Ken also co-hosts the popular Midwest Writers Room Podcast with Wisconsin Writers Association President, Luella Schmidt! It was late afternoon, December 3, 1998 when Mark Jensen found his wife, Julie, in their bed where she lay under the covers, not breathing. EMTs arrived quickly, but it was too late to save her. However, one responder noticed something unusual. There was something...off...about the way her face and body looked. And what's more, they could tell Julie had been dead for a while but had no idea how she died. There was nothing obvious, no visible wounds or signs of trauma. So what was going on here? And what, or WHO, had killed Julie Jensen? This episode comes from the Dateline episode "Secrets in Pleasant Prairie" LOOKING FOR MORE TCO? In 2008, Julie Jensen was found dead in her bed by her husband Mark Jensen of an apparent suicide. Little did Mark know, Julie had given a letter to her neighbors telling them that if anything happened to her, to give the note to the police. In the letter, from beyond the grave, Julie said that if anything happened to her, it was at the hands of her husband Mark and that she would never leave her 2 boys behind. After several legal battles pressing for the letter to be used as admissible evidence, Mark was tried for the murder of his wife Julie. Was he convicted? Was it suicide or was it murder? Craig Albee sits down with David Oscar Markus to discuss whether Mark Jensen murdered his wife with antifreeze or whether she committed suicide.Craig Albee is the federal defender in Wisconsin. And he's tried lots of cases. But nothing like this one, which has led to books, movies, and of course, podcasts. Known as the "letter from the grave" case, Julie Jensen wrote a letter shortly before her death saying that if she turned up dead, her husband "would be my first suspect." Albee and the defense said that this was just a set up and that she actually committed suicide. Check out the wild twists and turns of these multiple murder trials as David Oscar Markus explores the strategies with Albee for defending a man accused of murder.
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/guria-studios/message

If you missed the last couple of episodes, here is an update! We have changed the format of our episodes. Moving forward, only one of us will be covering a case per episode. Don't worry though! We both will still be on the episode and the release time and date will not change. This week's episode is covered by Mims. This case has gone by many names - The Antifreeze Killer, Kill List, One of the longest-running cases in WI's History, but I am naming this case after the person who this is all about - This is the case of Julie Jensen from Pleasant, Prairie, WI. It's full of bizarre emotional abuse, adultery, and unfortunately murder. In 1998, Mark and Julie Jensen had been married for 14 years and were devoted to their two sons, ages eight and three. At the end of the year, Mark noticed some significant changes in Julie's personality - she was depressed and wasn't sleeping or eating. He urged her to go to the doctor, but she refused. On December 3rd, Mark and the boys came home to find Julie had passed away. Police did not suspect foul play, until the Jensen's next door neighbor handed them a letter hand-written by Julie naming the perpetrator. Had Julie really solved the case with a letter from the grave?

In December 1998, Julie Jensen was murdered in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. After an investigation by police, Julie's husband, Mark Jensen, was identified as the prime suspect. He was charged with murdering Julie by poisoning her with antifreeze and then smothering her. He was convicted of the murder in 2008. Join Mike and Morf as they discuss Mark Jensen and the death of Julie Jensen. One of the biggest indicators of guilt, according to jurors, was something Julie had written and given to a neighbor before her death. It said that if anything happened to her, look at her husband, Mark. Mark's conviction was eventually overturned because it was ruled that he had the right to confront his accuser about this evidence. As this episode releases, Mark is back on trial for Julie's murder. But many years have passed, and her letter has been ruled inadmissible. Will this jury see things the same way as the jury did in 2008? Julie Jensen suspected her husband and father of her children, Mark Jensen, wanted her dead so she put pen to paper telling the world just that. That letter, written just days before her death, would lead to his 2008 conviction of her murder, but would also be the reason for overturning that same conviction in 2017. Now, Jensen faces a jury once again, live on Court TV. This week's Court TV Podcast examines his first trial with an audio edition of the original series Judgment with Ashleigh Banfield as his retrial gets underway. This is Judgment of the Antifreeze Murder. To see our coverage of the Antifreeze Murder Retrial, click here.To see the full 2008 trial of Wisconsin v Mark Jensen, click here.
15 years ago, Mark Jensen was convicted of poisoning his wife with antifreeze and suffocating her. Now, Jensen is getting another chance to prove he's innocent. In this episode of Open Record, FOX6 Investigator Bryan Polcyn invites FOX6 reporter Bill Miston on to talk about the retrial. Bill walks us through the case and why Mark Jensen is on trial for his wife's death a quarter-century ago. Plus, you'll learn about the key evidence jurors won't see as they decide if Julie Jensen's death was murder or suicide.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In the eyes of their neighbors, the Jensens were an example of an ideal marriage. The couple spent a great deal of time together and always seemed to be laughing and having a great time. On top of being a perfect couple, they seemed like the perfect family too after having two beautiful children together. During their 14 years of marriage, their relationship would take an unexpected turn that would end in tragedy.Join our Facebook Group -www.facebook.com/BeyondEvilTVFollow us :Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/beyondeviltv/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/TheFearFilesBusiness inquiry - beyonstudios@gmail.com Support the show

Christian life coach and mom of three Megan Estrem found herself losing control of everything happening around her after a culmination of events that involved losing her job, delivering her baby at 32 weeks only to then have her newborn swiftly taken to another hospital right after birth, and dealing with a near death health complication after delivery. Throughout this tumultuous time she leaned on the power of prayer, her community and her trust that God is still in control even when things are very out of control in our lives. If you're feeling like things are spiraling out of control in your life, her words of hope will uplift you. For the last regular episode in January 2022, Ashley combs through the death of wife and mother, Julie Jensen. On December 3, 1998, in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Julie was found dead in her bed with no indications of what may have taken her life. Interestingly enough, Julie wrote a letter and provided evidence of whom she suspected would end her life. Did Julie predict her own murder?Sources: https://hometownhomicide.com/episode-sources
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Koerri sits down with Assistant DA of Kenosha, WI Angelina Gabriele to discuss the 1998 case where Mark Jensen murdered his wife, Julie Jensen This is my first time doing a crime podcast but I had a blast! 'The Julie Jensen case involves the trial of a Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin man, Mark Jensen, on charges that he murdered his wife, Julie Jensen on December 3, 1998. The case is notable for the eventual admission into evidence of a letter written by the deceased prior to her death expressing suspicion of her husband's intentions. Julie Jensen investigated her husband, checked his planner, photographed a note, and documented her suspicions. She gave the letter to a neighbor with instructions to hand it to police if anything should happen to her. She wrote that she would never commit suicide and that if she died, police should consider her husband a suspect. "I pray that I am wrong and nothing happens, but I am suspicious of Mark's suspicious behaviors and fear for my early demise." In 2008, Mark Jensen was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, a verdict which was later overturned.' --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/oh-word-koerri/support

We don’t write them quite as often as we used to, but a well-crafted letter can be a real treasure. There’s something intimate about opening an envelope addressed to you and unfolding the paper inside to find the letter writer’s unique handwriting, unique voice, little drawings. Plus anything they might have dropped into the envelope as an extra surprise—a pressed flower, a photograph, a folded up twenty dollar bill. Letters can carry gossip, jokes, professions of undying love…and of course, letters can carry secrets. And in the story we’re about to tell you, a letter was the key to unlocking a mystery so dark, so poisonous, that no one who read it would ever be quite the same again. In part 1, we introduced you to Mark and Julie Jensen, two opposite personalities whose initially loving relationship had descended into a toxic mess of abuse and mistrust. Mark had become cold and distant, and Julie felt trapped, afraid that if she tried to leave him, Mark would make good on his threats to take away the kids and “make her look crazy” to the courts. When we left you, unbeknownst to Julie, Mark had just begun a flirtation with a woman in his office, Kelly LeBonte. This mess is about to get worse, campers. Minter Dialogue Episode #263 Julie Jensen Bennett is CEO of Precipice Design, a strategic design consultancy, that is pioneering "meaning-centred design and innovation." In this conversation, we look at how design can be a far more strategic component of your brand and business. We look at some important questions: What is meaning? How to craft meaning-centred design? The intersection of culture, brand and meaning. Can we (human beings) create a shared language with computers that understands the implicit and unspoken elements? A lot of great insights. Meanwhile, please send me your questions as an audio file (or normal email) to nminterdial@gmail.com; or you can find the show notes and comment on minterdial.com. It’s Spartan World Championships Week. And this week we talk to two Spartan World Championships competitors with completely different stories! We start by debuting our new Seasoned Firsts segment. This segment features people who are stepping outside their comfort zones to try new challenges for the very first time. Whether it’s a race, event, competition or new sport, we want to know what drives these people to challenge themselves in this new way. Today we introduce 48-year old Julie Jensen, who is competing in her very first Spartan Race at the notoriously difficult Spartan Race World Championships in Lake Tahoe. In our main interview, we talk to 43-year old Rachel Cosgrove of Santa Clarita, California. Rachel owns and operate Results Fitness, named one of the top ten gyms in the US by Men’s Health Magazine. She’s the best-selling author of The Female Body Breakthrough and Drop Two Sizes. In 2012, Rachel earned the title of IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year. She has competed as a triathlete, a powerlifter, and in the last year, she made a name for herself as a competitive obstacle course racer. Some of Rachel’s recent OCR stats include earning a 3rd place Masters finish at EPIC Series in 2017, a 3rd place age group finish at the 2017 Big Bear Spartan Beast, 2nd in the 40-49 age group at the 2018 SoCal Spartan, and 3rd place in the 40-49 age group at the 2018 Big Bear Spartan Beast, which also punched her ticket to the 2018 Spartan World Championships as an age group competitor.
