Have you ever caught yourself checking emails while on vacation, or find it difficult to truly unplug and enjoy downtime? You're not alone. America's hustle culture has us collectively wrapped around the notion that work should always come first, often at the expense of our health and well-being. In our latest episode, we peel back the layers of this phenomenon, revealing how our national reluctance to take time off not only underscores our values but also impacts our quality of life. Together, we question the undercurrent of fear that keeps us tethered to our desks and share personal tales that highlight the importance of setting boundaries for a healthier work-life integration. The conversation deepens as we scrutinize the generational shift in work values, especially as it pertains to Gen Z's approach to work and leisure. We challenge the negative stereotypes, celebrating instead their prioritization of time and mental health. But it's not just about generations; it's about a collective realization. I recount a friend's story of woodworking purely for the joy of it, untouched by the itch to monetize, prompting us to think about how we can all protect our personal sanctuaries from the pressure to hustle. This episode isn't just an exploration; it's a call to rediscover the joy in hobbies that don't come with a price tag and the balance that leads to a more fulfilling existence. To cap off our journey, we tackle the often-misunderstood concept of productivity, emphasizing that efficiency in work should serve to increase our leisure and not the other way around. We share uplifting anecdotes about individuals who've successfully crafted lives that prioritize passions and family over work without sacrificing professional success. Wrapping things up, we laugh over the irony of how setting firm boundaries can sometimes be the key to success, both personally and professionally. So, join us for an engaging discussion that's all about redefining success, embracing rest, and the courage it takes to say "no" in a world that constantly demands "yes. --------- EPISODE CHAPTERS --------- (0:00:01) - Critiquing the Culture of Hustle (0:10:18) - Work-Life Balance and Overcoming Fear (0:24:45) - The Balance Between Work and Purpose (0:32:46) - Scarcity Mindset, Gen Z, Embrace Hobbies (0:43:45) - Challenging Hustle Culture (0:50:13) - Productivity and Time Off Importance (1:01:01) - Setting Work-Life Boundaries for Success --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/warriormindset/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/warriormindset/support

*This episode was first published February 5th 2022.*Sarah and Nippy were in the NXIVM (said Nexium) cult for 12 and 16 years respectively. In early 2017, Sarah was invited into a secret women's sect of the cult called DOS. She was asked to strip naked, was blindfolded and led into a room with several other women. She was then instructed to repeat the words "Master, would you brand me? It would be an honour" and she was branded with the cult leaders initials. It wasn't long after, that Sarah and Nippy along with a small band of close friends, blew the whistle and alerted the media and authorities about the crimes of Keith Raniere. He ended up being sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking and racketeering charges, among others. In this episode, I spoke to Sarah and Nippy about their experiences within the cult, how they got out and how they have begun their healing process to regain their lives and families. Over 10,000 people per year return to Oklahoma communities after periods of incarceration. In other states, policymakers have understood and invested in comprehensive re-entry networks to provide services and job-matching for those folks leaving prison. Re-entry networks and services are key to preventing recidivism and improving outcomes for people returning to society. But Oklahoma has been a top incarcerator in the world from the early 2000's through 2018. We invited Colleen McCarty back to discuss the data and research surrounding this complex issue in Oklahoma. But more important than any data, this episode features the real stories of Oklahoman's for Criminal Justice Reform's ambassadors. They detail what re-entry truly looked like, where they are today, and where Oklahoma desperately needs change. A special thank you to Damita Price, Zeke Gonzales, Gina Richie, and Derwin Romani for sharing their stories with us.

Most times, when we're presented with struggles, it's an opportunity for us to learn. Just coming back from a relapse, Stephanie feels lonely, stressed, and not good enough. For years, living at home with alcoholic family members, her idea of love from her family was transactional and limited. In today's Omar Pinto Coaching Podcast, the group helps Stephanie learn to begin the process of trusting herself to learn how to re-parent and find empowerment within her own life. When we find ourselves alone, scared, and isolated, we teach ourselves how to survive with maladaptive coping mechanisms because it's the only choice we have. Have you ever found yourself feeling like everything looks the same on the outside, but everything on the inside of you has changed? If you’ve found yourself checking out of your life in unexplained ways and not able to fully name it, this episode is for you. We talk about the undercover world of grief, burnout, and reclaiming our lives after experiencing the invisible losses that we often overlook and dismiss. In today’s conversation I get cozy with Christina Rasmussen. Christina is an acclaimed grief educator, author of Second Firsts and Where Did You Go? Which have been extremely helpful books for my own family as we navigate grief and loss. She is also the host of The Dear Life Podcast and founder of The Life Reentry Institute at lifereentry.com. I recently signed up for her Life Reentry class, which has helped countless people break out of what she coined the “waiting room” of grief to rebuild our lives. She describes grief as a catalyst for redefining identity, and outlines the process of “reentry” where we return to our lives. Her work has been featured at ABC News, Washington Post, and the White House Blog. You can find more of her brilliant work at christinarasmussen.com and secondfirsts.com. Christina’s mission is to change the way we grieve, the way we live, and how we define our potential in this life, and the hereafter. What you'll hear (and don't want to miss!): :: The symptoms that can indicate burnout, or not living in alignment :: The way that she has been able to transform her grief and loss into a movement that is healing so many other people :: What the safe space of the “waiting room” is all about :: Christina’s re-entry and the ways that she is now transforming her life (and how you can too after invisible losses) :: Why she is saying no to money and additional opportunities daily, without feeling guilty about it :: Christina’s best practices and rituals for writing, plus how she stays connected to the creative process You can find the full show notes from this episode over at https://jadahsellner.com/grief-burnout-reclaiming-lives-177

Happy Thursday! It's dysfunctional relationship day here at One Life Radio! Bernadette speculates over 50% of the population struggle with their relationships. Renaldo guesses 98%! How to Love Someone Dealing with A Mental Health Crisis It is possible to have a relationship with someone dealing with a mental health crisis. 1 in 5 people have a mental illness! Mental illness looks like many different things. If you are in a relationship with someone struggling with mental illness, you will typically feel it in your gut first. COVID-19 is definitely making dating harder. Denna says to never call a woman crazy! Typically, crazy is just passionate. It is about how to funnel that passion into something healthy. After a relationship, women are typically left looking for themselves because they put so much into someone else. Narcissism is pretty big in our society. When you can't find out who you are, so when you can't find out where you start and end, you experience confusion. Denna says that most people don't know that they are a narcissist or have BPD, so the beginning of the relationship is typically easy. People don't love to go to therapy, because they associate therapy with craziness. When writing "Love Strong," Denna wanted people to look at their past and present. Find a relationship mentor and ask them all your relationship questions! Bernadette asks how you can know when your partner has a mental health issue. Denna says that anxiety, fear, or withdrawing is mild, but once someone has a thought to end their life, you need to step in. Go to Denna's website and take the free quiz about how strong you're loving! Von Eaglin Von Eaglin is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and works with two group practices in the Dallas area. He is a certified couple relationship trainer and sees a wide range of clients addressing men’s issues, anger management, abuse, and addiction; just to name a few. He is also a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas in the Counseling and Higher Education Department. His Ph.D. research focuses on on couple relationships dialogue. You can find him at his website or follow him on Instagram @VonTalks. Healthy vs Unhealthy Attachments In Relationships Therapists from a long time ago hypothesized that attachments in romantic relationships stem from how much attachment you formed as a child. Interesting! Your parents play a major role in how you attach to your partner. If your parents were really responsive to you, you typically will have a secure attachment style. Anxious attachment style is when your parents were typically not consistent with their responsiveness. In an adult relationship, that will manifest in a different way. The biggest type of attachment is avoidance attachments, so the parent was very distant at all times. Avoidance manifests in bad ways when adults enter romantic relationships. Don't fret! There are healthy ways for adults to attach in relationships. Someone who is avoidant will avoid contact and generally avoid letting you get too close to them! People who have avoidant attachment style will act out when they want attention in the relationship. They will typically start fights out of nowhere to get attention.

This show is about empowering women to recover not only from the debilitating effects of breast cancer but breast cancer treatment. Too often recovery is addressed as a black and white issue - either conventional medicine or alternative medicine. Our guest will discuss the integrative approach combining the best of both so we reclaim our lives during and after cancer treatment for breast cancer. This show is broadcast live on Friday's at 1PM ET on W4CS – The Cancer Support Network (www.w4cs.com) and W4HC - Health Cafe Live Network (www.w4hc.com) part of Talk 4 Radio (http://www.talk4radio.com/) on the Talk 4 Media Network (http://www.talk4media.com/)
Over the last few weeks, I have really been thinking about this idea of reclaiming myself. Taking back the pieces of my life and self that I feel I have lost. In today's modern world, women put themselves last...after their businesses, their families, their friends and their to-do list. We might steal a few moments to ourselves, but we have lost a deeper connection to our feminine and our internal, still, quiet wisdom. So today Laura and I are exploring what does it mean for women to reclaim themselves and their lives. This is a very important piece for liberation for women because until we reclaim ourselves, we will never be truly free. It is a deep dive today, but a great conversation.
Family Confidential: Secrets of Successful Parenting with Annie Fox, M.Ed.
Losing her father can impede a girl's emotional and relational development – that's tough to overcome. At this moment, tens of millions of fatherless daughters of all ages are struggling to step out of the stigma of being fatherless and start moving toward self-survival and success. "Fatherlessness is a journey," says Deena Babul, RN, and co-founder of the Fatherless Daughter Project. "It's not something you're supposed to get over. The pain of losing one's father tends to go underground, and it really doesn't resurface until the fear of abandonment (gets triggered)." Annie, a fatherless daughter herself, talks with Deena about how the loss of a father can affect a girl (physically, emotionally, spiritually) and how to journey through it. About Deena Babul (@FDPrjct) Denna D. Babul, RN, life coach, motivational speaker, author, medical expert, and co-founder (with Karin Luise) of the Fatherless Daughter Project.
