•  Yeah, and so it's about loving yourself enough to know your value and to leave your situation when you know it's not good for you, or not getting into a situation that you know is a huge red flag. There's a couple of funny memes that I've seen that are hilarious one is perfect for Valentine's day, because this guy is holding a dozen red flags and she goes, 'Oh a dozen red flags, I love him so much', and then there's another one where he says 'Good morning beautiful'. And she says, 'Take me off rotation'.  (8:05)•  When that happens, I think is a very important to know what to do. So I think a lot of times people don't do anything because they don't know what to do, they either cut bait and go or they don't do anything. So I think the important thing is to tell people what do you do at that point. Well, that's where communication skills come in, you have to know how to open your mouth and speak. And you know what? It may be a little scary to communicate with someone, especially someone you only just started knowing. I'm like, Listen, first of all, you have to have healthy boundaries. And you have to know what those are. If your boundary is, I need to be respected, like say someone stood you up on a date or something like that. That's probably a boundary. You carve out your time for that person, they decide the last minute they're not going or something, and they act like it's no big deal, that's a red flag. And it's something that needs to be addressed now. (12:40)•  There's so much integrity in realizing, Okay, we're not a match. I tell people, 'You're not dating to make it a match, you're dating to see if it is one, and so even when you go through break ups and such, and I've had episodes about breakups, sometimes you complete a relationship and it's about the two people realizing, Okay, this is not working, this is not going to be... We're not compatible for whatever reason, and sometimes they're very difficult. But as long as you do look and realize, Okay, there's lessons to be learned from here in this relationship, and you take those to heart and you go on in the future and say, Okay, now I know what I need and what I want, and hopefully the other person does too, and you help each other grow... What is better than that? I mean, that's what we all want to do. So you're not forcing it to be a match... I think some people get in a relationship and think I have to make this work, I have to... I have to... And they're just like, beating their head against the wall. What's the point of that?  (19:33)•   I was married for 20 years and you were married for a long time, we have an our story from it, right? We have our experience from it, so do our spouses are ex's. They have their story and what they learned from it, neither is wrong or right to be honest. It's what we both needed. But whenever I was married, my life felt like, my soul that like, I was like dead. So I felt like my life was being sucked out of me, and I don't blame that on my ex, it's just the relationship wasn't meant to continue. He didn't suck the life out of me, it was the relationship that was no longer serving me...or him. And so I had to make the decision, I had to be strong enough and listen to that gut feeling, listen to my inner voice saying, 'You are not supposed to be here anymore, get out. • I love so many things, I love being in this closet for one thing. So fashion is one of my things, and that's what inspired me to create the Coaching Closet. When I was going through coaching certification because, well, for one thing, I shared an office with my love and he works out of our home too, and I was like, that's not going to work when I'm doing one-on-one coaching with people and get into some pretty serious topics. And they don't want to be talking about that in front of somebody else. Yeah and he just chimes in and says, can I offer you some advise? And there like, who's that? And you say, I don't know, some random dude that's in my office. So I was like, Well, this is my favorite room in the whole house anyway.(3:05)• That's good that you recognize it. I do, it's all about awareness and recognizing there's a problem. Yeah, I had to do that when I had to get readers, accept that my eyes were no longer perfect and I had to get readers and that was really quite... It's still challenging. You accept it, I had to get trifocals. So yeah. It's alright, I got cute ones. As long as you get cute ones and you rock it, you accept that it's going on and you just rock it out the best of your ability, then you're good. Yeah, I can do without, but I obviously see so much better with them. Yeah, definitely, it's like Christmas miracle. (10:22)• Okay, so speaking of shopping, like who's doing Black Friday? There was Black Friday all week, there's today's small business Saturday, and then Monday is Cyber Monday. Well, this is probably going to broadcast later, but that's when we're recording it. I mean people are going crazy with their sales. They are, it's like... They have them all the time now. It was pre-Black Friday all week, and I got some really good deals before Thanksgiving. I was like, Wow, this is amazing, so I got a lot of Christmas shopping done. And if you want something, you can get a really good deals. (22:42)• I was talking about how Victoria is one of those friends I ask for advice, and she doesn't always tell me what I want to hear, she sometimes is like, Wow, what about the other person? Or what about when I ask relationship advice? And so that's a good thing because it helps me self-reflect and see my part and then see that person's perspective, and that's what we all need to do in our relationships. See what is our part, and what I say in coaching is, What's your 3%? And that's really the only way we can change the world, a lot of times recently, I was just talking about this with my family, people like to point the finger and other people, and they're really accusatory, and that just doesn't get us anywhere. We want to change the world, we need to look at ourselves first, like what can we do to help community? To change our world? To change your communities? It starts with this and our little fear of influence and then rippling out, it's a ripple effect, but it has to start with you. The Mindset Chick
Richele Batt: Calling in Loving Relationships

The Mindset Chick

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 9, 2021 22:17

•  I ended my 22-year marriage, it was a long time coming, but it was a destructive marriage, and so coming out of that I had a lot of healing to do, and I began a road to that, and part of that was counseling, I had already been in some counseling, but a lot of that was kind of like looking to coaches online of how to recover from abusive relationships and that kind of thing. Coaching on YouTube and stuff. And podcasts, and things to help me understand that I needed to grow... So fast forward a year and a half or so after my divorce, I knew I wanted to continue to help people understand what I was understanding, you can heal after these relationships that are toxic. And so I actually went to my counselor at the time and said, I even want to go back to school and get my Master's, and do Social work counseling, because I have a Psychology degree or I want to become a relationship coach.  (2:24)•   Yeah, and I love that you call yourself a calling in the one coach, because you know, that's what we talk about a lot on that Mindset Chick podcast, like calling in things that you want, and that was very powerful that you said that you were... Until you identified that you were repeating the same patterns, until you did your own healing... Absolutely, yeah, kind of looked within and realized what you were calling in, even though you wanted to leave that toxic marriage, as you said, then separating from that, wanting something different, but instead, without looking and doing the inner work or healing, you would just keep calling in the same type of person, right? Yes.  (5:41)•  Oh my gosh, I think it's so essential. It's a completely essential because you only have the capacity to love others as much as you can love yourself, I've come to realize that. So, I don't know, I think a lot of people think, Oh, it's selfish to talk about self-love. And self-love is not selfish, it's really the base for everything else, like how we can give to the world and how we can give to relationship, because we're going to show up for others, how we show up for ourselves, and it really does mirror our relationships, our relationship with ourselves. So it's funny because in calling in the one, many, many people will start the program because they do want to find love, they do want to find that soulmate and everything, but they'll end up calling in to find themselves, they end up finding out who they are in the process, and that actually leads them to where they can call in someone else, but it's so important to love yourself and love all the parts of yourself, parts that you want to change, even the negative things, because until you just have that self-acceptance, I just don't think you can accept anyone else? You're just going to feel like you have to be perfect all the time.  (7:56)•  Well, I'm glad you brought up about the emotions because that's the first part is really a lot of people, we go through life and we're in a culture or super busy where we have these goals and we're just ready to get there, but sometimes we get lost in the process, and we don't check in with ourselves. So I found a lot of clients, they have a hard time even recognizing what they're feeling, and then coaching practice that I have, we have a process where we help people learn how to daily check in with their emotions, and it's kind of like a meditative practice coupled with just a validating of like, Hey, you know these emotions are there, let me go ahead and feel that instead of ignoring them or wishing them away. Feeling them and then relating them to what they need at the moment, it's called the self-love power practice, and what do I feel and then what do I need? Even if they can't give themselves what they need at the moment, just acknowledging that they are feeling those things and acknowledging their need is powerful and it helps them to maybe understand where maybe there's a constructive impulse behind the emotions where it's gonna take them. (10:48)•  When my clients come to me a lot of times they have a lot of shame with the past mistakes or things that they feel like they've failed in, I try to reframe it for them and say, Look, if you look at these experiences as learning tools instead of mistakes, and you can kind of take a shame and regret and change it and say, Okay, well, these are the building blocks that made me into the person that I am today, and without these experiences, I wouldn't have the wisdom I have, or I wouldn't be in this place where I want to grow personally, or I see that I'm stuck. And so it's really awesome when they can finally accept that the mistakes happen or really just see them as events that happened that were part of their journey and they can be grateful for them. IN THIS EPISODE:•    So a lot of people think you can't love someone and let them go, but the truth is, with our divorce rate, obviously that's not the case, and relationships do end. It's not because of a lack of love, many times it's because of the toxicity of the relationship and is it healthy anymore? Many times it's just people realize that it's not good for them to stay and they have to give it up for them to love themselves the most and for them to be healthy. (1:28)•    Many times, if you could get to a point in your life where you just don't feel like you even know who you are, because you've become an extension of this other person. Like, who is Richele? I got to a point where I was like, What do I even like? Because I don't know, I'm just an extension of this person, I'm his wife is... I'm their mom. What do I like? I don't know, I'm just an extension or I'm only allowed? That's a really key word there, I'm only allowed to do these certain things. (4:17)•    That's where you get into power and control, where one person holds all the power and the other person, it's like you're dimming yourself down, you're giving your power away, you're not speaking up for yourself, and you're living in fear, and you're walking on egg shells and you're just like, Okay, you're just really doing anything you can to avoid triggering that person into anger or rage, and that's a huge red flag that you are in a very toxic situation. That's when it's like the relationship going way down. (6:39)•    Until I started getting sick, I really just didn't want to leave. But yeah, it does happen. So if you're in that position and you're like, What's wrong with me? Why am I sick? And your relationship isn't good, you might want to consider that it's your stress level, it's the relationship, so that needs to be a red flag as well. (13:26)•    Yeah, I'm at a level of self-love that I never had before, and I just love teaching people that. That's where you have to start, and it just brings tears to my eyes, it really does. It's an honor to help people. It really is. To absolutely love it. It's just my passion. (18:19) ABOUT RICHELE BATT:Richele is a coach, YouTube TV host and soon to be podcaster.
