The penultimate live episode for this series of highlights from the Scherler Sundays concert series features three Olympia acts and one out-of-towner, Austin Leonard Jones.  The Mona Reels has been the ongoing  project of singer-songwriter Peter David Connelly for over 20 years, today we hear his current and self-proclaimed favorite line-up of the band, a six-piece ensemble.  Included is a suite of songs from their latest record, "Without Love."  The Mona Reels will also be kicking off the seventh season of Low Profile later this month.  Olivia Rose is the namesake of the red-hot Pacific Northwest band Oh, Rose.  In this performance, however, she is joined by a cellist and several backup singers, delivering a performance unlike anything else out there, including a debut performance of a brand-new song.Lee Baggett is best known for his work with Kyle Field in the band Little Wings, and is a terriffic songwriter himself.  Originally from San Luis Obispo, CA, he moved to Olympia and started a family some years ago.  His latest album, "Anyway," is out now on Perpetual Doom Records and features a brand new set of sunshine-laden road songs.  Austin Leonard Jones is one of the best kept secrets in modern country music.  Originally from Texas and currently based in Ojai, CA, his latest album is called "Dead Calm."  Like Lee Baggett, his new album is available on Perpetual Doom Records.  Coincidentally, Lee and Austin perform with the same rhythm section for this performance: Spencer and Henry of the band Generifus, who were featured a few weeks ago in this series.Find links to all of these artists and their music at lowprofilepodcast.com and get into it!The performances and interviews on this episode were recorded live in front of an audience in Olympia, WA behind the historic Carnegie Library on July 31 and August 7th, 2022 by Miles Rozatti.Scherler Sundays is a collaboration between Low Profile and the Three Magnets Brewing Company.

What does it mean to be vegan? As our guest Rose Lee (@cheaplazyvegan) describes, it is a way of living where you seek to exclude as much animal exploitation in your life as possible. This can include diet or fashion (think Canada Goose) or even entertainment (like going to the zoo). Rose details her beginnings with being vegan and what got her started (make sure to check out the book Skinny Bitch and film documentary Earthlings), her process for gradually reducing animal-related products in her life, and how she turned it into a full-time career as a Youtuber. Along the way, she helps debunk certain myths, like how expensive it is to be vegan (which just by seeing her Youtube channel Cheap Lazy Vegan, should be enough to debunk that), or that you need meat in your diet in order to be healthy. In this episode…Have you ever found yourself struggling to understand, or get along, with people who are older or younger than you? Perhaps a clash in communications style, working preferences, belief systems, values or motivational needs? Many of the business leaders that we talk to in our work at KAMGuru tell us how difficult they find driving higher levels of motivation and engagement from younger sales teams. They say that age is just a number… except it isn't, is it? GENERATIONAL DIFFERENCES ARE REALThe nuances of dealing with people across the generations can prove to be challenging, whether consciously or unconsciously, and the solution, as we've talked about so many times on KAMCast, is in the ability to raise your awareness, understand yourself, understand others and then choose if and how to adapt your behaviours to get the best out of your relationship interactions, whether it be with your teams or Key Customer contacts. Whether you are working closely with the external customer base or whether you recognise your internal customers, on your team and colleagues across the business, you are likely to come up against the ‘generation gap', highlighted by the notable differences across the different age groups. In this episode of KAMCast, I talk to Henry Rose Lee - one of the few inter-generational diversity experts in the world.  Henry works with all generations in the workforce and particularly with Millennials and Gen Z - to help them become more productive and effective. As an author of three books on maximising today's young talent, (consisting of Generation Z and the Millennial generation), Henry busts myths and provides business leaders with practical tactics for attracting, recruiting, engaging and retaining your youngest employees.  I hope you enjoy it – let me know what you think!   HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS EPISODE:When I was preparing for this conversation, I was conscious that for many, this is a burning topic and I was keen to get a deeper understanding of: What the differences across generations really are How those differences play out in the workplace, particularly in a virtual working environment How communication styles, techniques and strategies will vary across the ages and where ‘clashes' are likely to happen How, as leaders, we can drive higher levels of engagement and motivation from our younger teams Ultimately understanding how we can MIND THE GAP in generational diversity across our key accounts and sales teams. I wasn't disappointed! When you listen to this episode – you'll gain some really pragmatic and practical advice from Henry Rose Lee who helps us look through the intergenerational lens from a position of understanding. ENGAGE THE MOTIVATIONAL NEEDS OF YOUNGER TALENTI particularly liked Henry's thoughts on engaging the motivational needs of younger talent on our teams. With three quarters of Gen Z yearning to start their own business - I wonder if you have a team of entrepreneurial salespeople? And how you harness their enthusiasm and creativity within the remits of your organisational structure? Do you build a COMMUNITY that your talent can feel part of? What are the CAUSES that you, you teams and your business care about? And what CAREER progression opportunities are available to your team to grow and develop in their role and bring higher levels of commitment, enthusiasm and contribution to your business? CHECK "IN" RATHER THAN CHECK "UP"I'm often amazed at the lack of trust between sales leaders and their teams. Henry gives us some great advice on how to build trust and I love the notion of checking IN, not checking UP.     She shares that you can do this by coaching your team with open questions like: What have you experienced in the last week that's good and bad? Of those good and bad things, what do you think you've learned from that? How are you going to use what you've learned going forward? What do you need from...

Author of three books on maximising today’s young talent, (Generation Z and Millennials), Henry busts myths and gives practical hacks for attracting, recruiting, engaging, and retaining your youngest employees. Henry’s expertise comes from 15 years working in business development and sales, where performance and results were essential. This was followed by 17 years as a Human Resource qualified consultant and Master Coach, researching and developing diagnostic tools on human motivation, and generational attitudes and behaviours at work. This included a two-year stint at Pinewood Studios developing her talents as a voice over artist, and as a communications & learning specialist for business TV and online learning. How RoseLee Goldberg Reshaped the Landscape of Performance Art

It’s safe to say that, if it weren’t for art historian RoseLee Goldberg, performance art would not be what it is today. Not even close. The founder of the nonprofit organization Performa, which for nearly 15 years has been putting on biennials of live performance around New York City, has for decades helped shape and steer the conversation about what “performance art” even is—and what, at its best and most inventive, it’s capable of achieving. A scholar, critic, and New York University professor, Goldberg has written important texts on the subject, including Performance Now: Live Art for the 21st Century (Thames & Hudson), and has established new modalities for organizing and presenting performances. Her astute understanding of the multidisciplinary medium is unparalleled. With Performa, Goldberg has radically shifted the landscape of the field through collaborations with hundreds of artists, including Adam Pendleton (in what was a breakout moment for the artist), Yoko Ono, Rashid Johnson, Joan Jonas, and Julie Mehretu. Following previous overarching themes like Futurism (2009), Surrealism (2013), and Dada (2017), this year’s biennial, which runs from November 1 through 24, will explore ideas about the Bauhaus on its centenary year. Among the performances will be works by Taiwanese artist Yu Cheng-Ta, who will unpack Western “influencers” and reality TV culture; Gaetano Pesce, who, at the Salon 94 Design gallery, will create a studio atmosphere, evoking the typical conditions of a day, via his assistants molding, pouring, and crafting; and Bunny Rogers, who will turn various spaces at a public high school—including hallways, a gym, and an auditorium—into a “living installation.”On this episode of Time Sensitive, Goldberg speaks with Spencer Bailey about her upbringing as a young dancer in Durban, South Africa, when that country was under apartheid rule; her adventurous journey into the beating heart of the art world, first in London and ultimately in New York; and her path to establishing Performa—and elevating performance art as we know it in the process.

In this episode of CC Audio you meet the acclaimed art historian and founder of Performa RoseLee Goldberg, as she shares her thoughts on the history of performance art, its role in art institutions today, and her definition of success. Performa was founded as an organisation in 2004 by RoseLee Goldberg whose time-honoured research into performance art has proved epoch-making for the genre. As the leading organisation dedicated to research into performance art, Performa addresses the role of this art form in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. At the heart of Performa is the biennial of the same name that presents new works commissioned specifically for the biennial involving dance, film, music, and architecture. The exhibition Performa Archive at Copenhagen Contemporary offers a rare glimpse into the legendary works created for and performed at the performance biennial in New York, and marks Performa’s indisputable significance for the development and propagation of performance art within the past two decades.Created and produced by Copenhagen Contemporary in collaboration with Astrid Hald.

In this week's episode, we're featuring the one and only album in the decades-long career of Rose Lee Maphis: "Rose Lee Maphis" (1960). Well may you wonder how one is active in country music for over five decades and have only one album to your name, but the answer is a simple one: Rose Lee Maphis was one half of "Mr. & Mrs. Country Music" with husband and country guitar wizard Joe Maphis: the "King Of The Strings" as he was dubbed. Together they tore up the 50s and 60s as one of the most in-demand country music couple acts going and most all of Rose Lee's recorded output was with her husband, first on the West Coast as popular members of the "Town Hall Party" TV show in LA and later in Nashville after the Maphis clan relocated there in the late 60s. Joe Maphis passed away in 1986 but Rose Lee stayed in Tennessee and into her nineties could be found in downtown Nashville if you knew where to look. Thankfully her one foray into the studio as a solo act in 1960 was a memorable one and the wonderful amalgamation of mountain music, hillbilly and country/western was put into wax (and the history books) by Columbia. Take a listen to the hillbilly pedigree of this pioneering gal of country music with "musical accompaniment" from her late husband - highlights include the plaintive "Release Me"; the jumping guitar from her spouse in "My Curly-Headed Baby" and "Bury Me Beneath The Willow" and her take on the wonderful "Pins And Needles (In My Heart)".

Participants will include artists Natalie Jeremijenko, following the impact of the sirens on city pigeons, bats and other local species, Maximilian Goldfarb, for whom the emergency cry is an entirely ambivalent signal for both safety and danger, and Daisy Press, a New York-based operatic singer who uses the siren sounds as model for her own repertoire of non-verbal voice exercises.
