Monday's show featured correspondent John Leahy as we discussed the current 10-game winning streak of the Boston Red Sox entering baseball's All Star break. Baseball's trading deadline is set for July 31 and we talked about several scenarios prior to that date that the Sox may consider. Sunday's start of the MLB was also one of our Monday topics with Pinkerton Academy's Liam Doyle being selected fifth by the St. Louis Cardinals, the highest New Hampshire pick since Carlton Fisk in 1967. In addition, we paid tribute to one of America's favorites on National Mac & Cheese Day.
In this episode of Data Dump, we dive into Zac Veen's recent AAA surge and what's changed since his rocky big league stint. While the surface stats look promising — a 105 wRC+, improved ISO, and better K/BB rates — his issues with elevated fastballs still raise red flags? We dissect his swing decisions, zone contact rates, and plate discipline to see if this version of Veen is sustainable. Then, it's draft time. We break down two lefty college arms — Jamie Arnold vs. Liam Doyle — and stack up their raw stuff, pitch shapes, and how each might (or might not) translate at Coors. Is Doyle's elite fastball and five-pitch mix worth the risk? Is Arnold's CH/SL combo a safer fit?We wrap with a look at Aiva Arquette, a big-bodied, power-hitting shortstop who might remind Rockies fans of a certain franchise icon. Does the pop and glove profile fit what this org needs?

Hour 1 of June 4, 2025 Jacob Townsend talks about Tennessee's schedule for the weekend with Arkansas for the Super Regional. Then, what does Tony Vitello elect to do with his rotation for this weekend, Marcus Phillips or Liam Doyle in game one? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Arkansas and Tennessee face off in perhaps the most anticipated super regional of the NCAA baseball tournament. Graham Doty, Jay Greeson and Chris Lee discuss and give their predictions. Arkansas, led by coach Dave Van Horn, comes in as one of the tournament's hottest teams, and comes off a spectacular weekend with starter Gage Wood and reliever Gabe Gaeckle combining for 20 strikeouts in an 8-3 win over Creighton in the regional final. Zach Root should be the Razorbacks' other starter after going in Game 2 last weekend. The Razorbacks also threw a number of talented a Landon Beidelshies, Aidan Jimenez, Parker Coil and others and have enough depth that it left quality pieces like Will McIntyre parked in the garage. Tennessee coach Tony Vitello's circle of pitching trust seems to be narrowing, as the Vols' four-game regional included multiple appearances from Liam Doyle (135 total pitches), AJ Russell (91), Dylan Loy (36) and Brandon Arvidson (113), with Brayden Krenzel, Austin Breedlove, Andrew Behnke, Nate Snead and Tanner Franklin firing single relief outings in addition to starter Marcus Phillips, who managed 98 pitches in his start. Arkansas' hallmark in its lineup is star power (SEC player of the year Wehiwa Aloy) combined with its balance (starters Charles Davalan, Kuhio Aloy, Cam Kozeal, Brent Iredale, Ryder Helfrick, Logan Maxwell and Justin Thomas all had good offensive seasons). Tennessee's offense is led by future pros Andrew Fischer (who may be the SEC's toughest out) and Gavin Kilen, while freshman Levi Clark came on late in the season and also has to be feared. The Vols have had defensive issues but Hunter Ensley offers a steady presence in center field as well as a reliable bat. The RTI Diamond Pass is back with Jack Foster and Ryan Schumpert giving a full preview of the upcoming Knoxville Regional. The guys start by taking a look at 2-seed Wake Forest, 3-seed Cincinnati and 4-seed Miami Ohio, discussing strengths and weaknesses of each. Should Tennessee start Liam Doyle on Saturday instead? What is the status of the bullpen right now? Should Tegan Kuhns continue to pitch in a game three setting? The guys take a look at all those questions and more. | RTI Diamond Pass
Chris Lee and Alfred Ezman look at the field of four in the Knoxville Regional and give picks. Topics include: Defending national champion Tennessee has struggled with defense and pitching lately. But Andrew Fischer and Gavin Kilen remain tough outs, freshman Levi Clark has flashed big things, and the Vols have a bunch of talented bats like Dean Curley and others, too. The Volunteers' fate will depend on ace Liam Doyle, starters Marcus Phillips and AJ Russell, and a bullpen with experienced flamethrowers like Brandon Arvidson and Nate Snead. Tennessee has the talent to repeat as national champions, but can it find consistency? Second-seeded Wake Forest is led by future first-round MLB pick Marek Houston at short, and had four other double-digit home-run hitters in Jack Winery (14), Kade Lewis (11), Dalton Wentz (10) and Matt Scannell (10). The Deamon Deacons also have a talented ace in righty Blake Morningstar at the top of the rotation, and lefty Matthew Dallas (who transferred from Tennessee) also starting in the rotation. Can the Demon Deacons put together a run this tournament starting in Knoxville? Cincinnati makes a rare NCAA Tournament appearance, but the Bearcats stole 127 bases (led by Landon Vidourek's 37) and have the Big 12 Player of the year in Kerrington Cross(.399/.525/.657) manning third. Whether or not the Bearkats do damage may depend on how arms Nathan Taylor and Kellen O'Connor perform. Miami (Ohio) could be one of the more challenging four-seeds in the tournament. The Redhawks have a pair of quality starters in Cooper Katskee (2.66 ERA) and Carson Byers (2.65), with Katskee being great at keeping the ball in the yard. The lineup got on base throughout the order, and the big bat is Evan Applejack (19 HR).
The Southeastern 16 crew reacts to Thursday's SEC Baseball Tournament action, including Texas A&M's defeat of Auburn, Tennessee's win over Texas and Vanderbilt beating Oklahoma in the nightcap. Topics include: Texas A&M's season stays alive as the Aggies move on to face LSU at approximately 6:30 Central on Friday night after beating Auburn, but star center fielder Jace Laviolette is probably done with a hand injury. And will Auburn be hosting one weekend or two? Can Tennessee host? The Vols have now registered two great RPI wins after an extra-innings take-down of Texas as Brandon Arvidson shined out of the bullpen. However, ace Liam Doyle struggled for the second-straight start. Vanderbilt evened its season series with Oklahoma behind the pitching of JD Thompson and its bullpen of Luke Guth, Levi Huesman and Sawyer Hawks held the Sooners to two hits and struck out 15. The Commodores are now No. 1 in the RPI and KPI; what's that mean for their postseason seeding? Where do Mississippi State and Kentucky stand in terms of each getting at-large bids? And more.
The Southeastern 16 crew names its three All-SEC baseball teams and also, its coach and player of the year awards. Players discussed include Liam Doyle, Andrew Fischer, Wehiwa Aloy, Ike Irish, Ace Reece, Kade Anderson, Anthony Eyanson, Rylan Galvan, Dylan Volantis and more.
The RTI: Diamond Pass is back for another big episode as hosts Jack Foster and Ryan Schumpert break down Tennessee's series loss to Arkansas. Despite the series loss, Tennessee did play better than in weeks past, but some of the same issues plagued the Vols in addition to a rare Liam Doyle dud. The guys also discuss Tennessee's All-SEC awards, including Liam Doyle as Pitcher of the Year and honors for Andrew Fischer, Hunter Ensley and Gavin Kilen. The Southeastern 16 crew reacts to Friday night SEC baseball action, including: Tennessee's Liam Doyle and Vanderbilt's JD Thompson faced off in a premier pitching matchup, but Doyle got the edge in a 3-2 win thanks to huge defensive plays from Hunter Ensley. Auburn swept South Carolina in a doubleheader, including a Game 1 walk-off safety squeeze bunt. Chris Rembert, Eric Guevarra, Cooper McMurray, Bub Terrell and Lucas Steele (twice) all homered for Auburn on Friday, which won despite not getting a usual Sam-Dutton like appearance from its ace. The Tigers are now in prime position to host one weekend, if not two, in the NCAA tournament. Kentucky needs a series win and got off to a great start, beating Kyson Witherspoon and Oklahoma on Friday thanks to great relief from Jackson Nove and a Cole Hage home run. MLB Pipeline's new 2025 Draft Top 150 is live and Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff slice and dice it on this week's episode of the MLB Pipeline Podcast. They start by breaking down the top of the list and what the odds are for any player to go No. 1 overall to the Nationals, focusing mostly on the top three: Ethan Holliday, Seth Hernandez and Jamie Arnold. Then the guys look at some of the biggest risers in the class, including new top 10 prospects Kade Anderson and Liam Doyle, before giving grades to the four quadrants of draftable players (high school hitters, high school pitchers, college hitters, college pitchers) and the Draft as a whole. They switch gears to finish things off with a Mailbag question about Marlins lefty Robby Snellling.
