The latest episode of the talkSPORT Daily Podcast is out now, with Majestic and former Premier League manager Alan Pardew reviewing all the weekend's action. We start with Tottenham, where a bruising 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest saw Spurs slip to 11th, Guglielmo Vicario gifting Callum Hudson-Odoi the opener before his cross crept in for a second and Ibrahim Sangaré smashed home a stunning third. Arsenal then edged a dramatic 2-1 win over Wolves as Bukayo Saka's corner went straight in via Sam Johnstone, Tolu levelled late on, and Mosquera's stoppage-time own goal sealed it, though Ben White was forced off injured. Elsewhere, Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 at Anfield with Hugo Ekitike scoring after 46 seconds before adding a second from Mohamed Salah's corner after replacing the injured Joe Gomez, Chelsea saw off Everton 2-0 thanks to Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto, and Fulham claimed a historic 3-2 win at Burnley as Harry Wilson starred to move the Cottagers seven points clear of the drop. Not nineteen forever. That's certainly what you'd imagine if Lukasz Fabianski's career history is anything to go by. In Saturday's defeat to Man City, the West Ham goalkeeper replaced Alphonse Areola at half-time, racking up his 19th direct involvement in a goalkeeping substitution. Three of those have come since January, meaning we're hedging our bets that number 20 could well occur before the season is out. Elsehwere in the Premier League, Aaron Ramsdale, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Sam Johnstone were all thrust into action at their new clubs, while Dean Henderson not only made three vital stops in a draw for Crystal Palace at Chelsea, but in turn bagged Celebration of the Weekend. In the EFL, Bristol City's Max O'Leary and Christy Pym of Mansfield staked their claim for Save of the Weekend, on the international stage a new three-man selection was introduced for the England Men's senior team and the U21s, and over in France a ray of light was handed to much-troubled Bordeaux thanks to a last-gasp goalkeeping equaliser.
Liverpool run riot at Old Trafford and Mark Goldbridge is not a happy man!!! Ben is joined by Tom, Watto and Goldbridge to discuss the weekend's action as Arne Slot's impressive start to the season continued with a 3-0 win over Man Utd. Mohamed Salah scored again against the Red Devils, but it was his comments after the game that grabbed the headlines - could it be the end of his Liverpool career? Elsewhere in the Premier League, it was a bad weekend for Sean Dyche's Everton. The Toffees were 2-0 going into the 87th minute and LOST 3-2 to Bournemouth! There were wins for Brentford, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Man City and ANOTHER Erling Haaland hat-trick… Declan Rice saw red for the first time in 245 Premier League games plus the lads discuss the goalkeeping transfers on deadline day including moves for Aaron Ramsdale and Sam Johnstone. Nottingham Forest are again being linked with another goalkeeper, this times is Crystal Palace and England International Sam Johnstone, with reports yesterday that Johnstone would be open to a move away from London in the hope of securing first team football. But Should Forest be interested in the Palace stopper, with new signing Carlos Miguel and Belgium International Matz Sels still at the club. We also have news on a number of rumours regarding Nottingham Forest transfers, with Sheffield United's defensive midfielder Vinícius Souza being a new name to be linked with a move to the City Ground. The Brazilian player only arrived in the Premier League last summer, but with Sheffield's relegation back to the Championship, it seems like the player is seeking an immediate exit from Bramall Lane. On our weekend preview show, a title clash takes top billing, with Arsenal heading to Man City. Will the potential injuries to Walker, Ederson, Stones and Akanji move the needle in Arsenal's favour? Elsewhere Nottingham Forest are newly in the relegation zone after their points deduction. They face Crystal Palace hoping to immediately break clear of it. But off the pitch, Forest assistant manager Steven Reid has been fined for comments made to the referee after their controversial last-minute loss to Liverpool. Ian and Chris take a look at those comments and ask how Reid has got away with them so lightly. Chelsea welcome Burnley to Stamford Bridge, a game with several subplots. Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku impressed in internationals midweek, highlighting the centre forward gap at Chelsea. Meanwhile injury to Sam Johnstone has opened up a goalkeeper spot in the England camp - but should Burnley man James Trafford be the one to take it? And finally, Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield, in what could be an audition for Roberto De Zerbi, with a vacant manager position at Liverpool this summer... Hosted on Acast. Arguably the most important signing Nottingham Forest were going to make this January transfer window was for a goalkeeper, and we can confirm that Belgium stopper Matz Sels is now a Red! The 31 year old signs for Forest on an initial loan deal with an option to buy in the summer from French club Strasbourg. With numerous names being talked about as potential goalkeeper signings this January, including the Premier League proven Crystal Palace stopper Johnstone, Forest have decided to go with Sels, who is a very good keeper in Ligue 1 and is highly rated by boss Nuno. But is there any concerns about his previous experience in English football when Sels had an underwhelming time at at Newcastle United. Let us know in the comments below what you guys think of the signing of Matz Sels, are you happy with the new goalkeeper or would you have preferred Sam Johnstone, and don't forget to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to Forest Fan TV. #nffc #nottinghamforest #premierleague Learn more about your ad choices. Nottingham Forest have stept up their transfer activity this Wednesday morning, with the breaking news we already brought you of Gio Reyna being confirmed as a Red and should complete his loan move this afternoon. But the most important position to fill this January transfer window is for a goalkeeper, and today Forest stepped up their pursuit of Crystal Palace stopper Sam Johnstone. Sam Johnstone has found himself down the pecking order at Crystal Palace after the return from injury of former Forest player Dean Henderson. Forest already had a loan bid rejected for Johnson, but today have come back in with a firm cash offer around the £12 million mark. With the poor form of Turner let us know if you would be happy with the signing of Johnstone? In other news Forest have completed their second signing for today in Rodrigo Ribeiro, the Sporting forward is only 18 years old and played just 6 times for the first team in Portugal, but is highly thought of at the club. The deal is an initial loan with an option to buy for around £10 million, but it could turn into a obligation to buy if certain criteria is met. We also have a round up of all the other transfer news breaking today, including Reyna flying into the City Ground to complete his medical and sign his loan move to the club. Crystal Palace now have a conundrum on their hands. Dean Henderson's welcome to return to action in the draw with Man City most likely means the No1 jersey is his to lose. A No1 jersey which, up to this point, had been deservedly maintained by fellow England goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone. We discuss that and plenty more in this week's show, including a first-ever four successive Premier League clean sheets for Jordan Pickford and the theatre that was Martinez/Maupay in Aston Villa's win over Brentford. In the EFL, Ben Hamer, Jack Bonham and Max O'Leary battled it out for Performance of the Weekend, Fleetwood's Jay Lynch pulled off a remarkable Save of the Weekend contender and Sutton shipped eight at Stockport.
James welcomes West Ham fan Chris Stone and Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd for a London Derby Clash of the Correspondents, but is there actually a rivalry between two clubs who have ambitions to grow on and off the pitch? Jarrod Bowen's fitness will be a hot topic of debate heading into GW14 and there's discussion on solutions for managers in the various scenarios of fit, unfit and unknown. Does Mohammed Kudus or Tomas Soucek fit any of the solutions? While for Palace new injuries for Ebe Eze and (a very serious injury to) Cheick Doucoure have caused alarm ahead of a tough swing in fixtures that follows defeats to Everton and Luton. Should Palace defensive assets be binned? For James that may mean moving Sam Johnstone on, but many other FPL managers will be considering moving Alphonse Areola, but The Hammers have good long-term fixtures to consider... Once you've negotiated a rather unimaginable tale told by Richard Lee this week, you'll find plenty of analysis on the weekend's key performers in the world of goalkeeping. David Raya pulled off a stunning double save at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (can it actually be credited as a "double save", though?), matched by decent stops from Sam Johnstone, David de Gea and Stefan Ortega - the latter receiving plenty of praise from Gary Neville as Man City beat Chelsea. In the League Two playoffs, Ben Hinchcliffe was the hero for Stockport – albeit after Alex Cairns had pulled off a Save of the Weekend contender in the dying moments of extra-time – and over in Turkey, on loan Alex Runarsson sounded the klaxon for the second time this season during his spell with Alanyaspor. There's a quick nod to Premier League PSxG stats, and we mention Maarten Stekelenburg - the one-time Dutch No1 who will be hanging up his gloves at the end of the campaign.

An international break can't keep Adrian and Chris down - not when Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone is wearing the England goalkeeper's jersey. But where does he stand in the all time Albion rankings between the sticks?PLUS Callum Robinson refuses to take the Covid jab, Newcastle are taken over by an arm of the Saudi government; and 442 magazine selects the UK's best footy grounds.

Dan Bardell welcomes Florence Lloyd-Hughes and David Preece to the show for reaction to England's last warm-up fixture before the belated 2020 European Championships. It was another 1-0 win and it had plenty more in common with the Austria game as Gareth Southgate selected a side featuring mostly fringe squad players, some who won't make the final 26, but at least one who will. James Ward-Prowse will hope to take the spot vacated by Trent Alexander Arnold but Ben White could be a dark horse with Harry Maguire's fitness still a doubt.Jack Grealish has started the last two friendlies, providing dynamism and a cutting edge, and he is fancied by some to make the starting XI against Croatia. Sam Johnstone almost certainly won't feature, but he will be a reassuringly solid third choice between the sticks. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Big Sam's second game in charge gave Albion fans a welcome Christmas bonus - a thoroughly unexpected but well deserved 1-1 draw at Liverpool. Sam's protective mask didn't fare so well, slipping down his face.In other new, Chris and Adrian discuss possible signings in the transfer window, and call on the Baggies board to offer Sam Johnstone a new contract.Presented by Adrian Goldberg and Chris LepkpowskiProduced by Adrian GoldbergSponsored by PugMug Marketing.Liquidator podcast merch now available
