We talk to Bob Lindenmayer - Writer & Director of Making Megaforce. We all have those films we saw whilst growing up which have such an effect on who we are, what we became or they just simply stay with us and evoke such a warm feeling. For Bob Lindenmayer it was the 1982 Sci Fi Action epic Megaforce. Despite totally bombing at the Box Office, Megaforce meant something to the young Bob and came along at just the right time in his life. His documentary, Making Megaforce, is not only his tribute to the making of and history of this film but also a heartwarming story of friendship and how meeting your heroes can sometimes be a dream come true.Special thanks to Affinity Photo - The hottest photo editing software on iPad, Mac & PChttps://affinity.serif.com/photoIntro Music by Johnny Monacohttps://www.johnnymonaco.com Incidental Music by Night Fires Please visit The 80s Video Shop Patreon Page to find out how you can help grow our very own 80s Video Shop. https://www.patreon.com/80sVideoShop

Send us a textRemember "Predator" starring 80s Action Hero Arnold Schwarzenegger? This was a childhood favorite that was rented on the regular from the local video store when hanging out with friends. From what we remember, this was the definition of 80s Sci-Fi Action. Every character was ripped and badass. Guns never ran out of ammo. Laws of physics took a back seat to "Looking Cool" and even the explosions were over exaggerated for entertainment purposes. We don't know if this movie will be as good as we remember but we can't wait to find out. Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

It's time for another very open-ended conversation between Kyle and Nerdist video producer Adam Murray. This time out, it's about '80s sci-fi/action movies, specifically the "Big Four," those of course The Terminator, Aliens, RoboCop, and Predator. Why are they so good? What do they all have in common? Why do aliens and robots with anti-corporate themes hold our attention for 40 years?
Hymnson Chan talks his extensive stunt work, improvising with Larry David on "Curb Your Enthusiasm", and the time he threw himself in a wall during an audition! About Hymnson: Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Hymnson Chan's journey began in a city known for its rugged beauty and diverse culture. However, his formative years were spent in Quincy, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston, where he navigated the challenges of growing up in a predominantly Irish-Catholic neighborhood. Raised by immigrant parents from Hong Kong, Hymnson inherited a rich tapestry of resilience and determination. Despite facing discrimination and hardship, Hymnson's parents instilled in him the values of empathy, humility, and faith, which he carried on into adulthood. Today, Hymnson is recognized as one of Hollywood's most sought-after stunt performers. His remarkable skills have been showcased in blockbuster hits, including Bullet Train, as well as Marvel's Avengers: Endgame, where his stunt work won him a SAG Award. No stranger to being on camera, Chan has been recognized for several appearances on the small screen, including I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, Grey's Anatomy, Kidding, Shameless, Key & Peele, and Jane The Virgin, to name a few. He also recurred in Syfy's Underlings. Most recently, Chan had the pleasure of starring alongside Larry David as his latest nemesis on the final season of HBO's hit series Curb Your Enthusiasm. Beyond his work in front of the camera, Chan is a talented screenwriter and storyteller. He recently won the WeScreenplay TV Pilot Competition with his grounded Sci-Fi-Action pilot, “DAI LO,” inspired by his mother's immigrant experience and his own journey as a first-generation AAPI. His writing often delves into themes of identity, family, and social issues, aiming to empower marginalized communities and challenge stereotypes. In a world divided by differences, Chan hopes his work continues to break barriers, leaving a legacy of kindness, resilience, and boundless creativity behind. Outside his work in Hollywood, Chan actively supports charitable organizations such as Best Friends Animal Society, No-Kill Los Angeles (NKLA), Angel City Pitbulls, and the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment (CAPE). He believes in using his platform to amplify voices and create opportunities for underrepresented groups in the industry, a testament to his unwavering commitment to making a positive change. In his free time, Chan enjoys playing escape rooms with his wife, collecting sneakers, and cheering for Boston sports teams. He finds joy in exploring different cultures through travel and food, always seeking to broaden his horizons and connect with others on a deeper level. Learn more about your ad choices. The November Movie of the Month is the 2002 Sci-Fi Action film from Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise. Pre-Crime is the topic and the questions are plentiful. Bubbawheat was the champion of the film and he leads us through a discussion of the U.S. Constitution, Determinism, Free will and eye surgery. The films innovations and prescient technology is acknowledged but so are the plot holes and tech that the film makers got wrong. We get a return this week to the Rants, Raves and Reviews feature of the podcast, and everyone has plenty to promote. Listen to the podcast, and you can also watch it on YouTube if you prefer.

Through each iteration of his time loop he gets a bit closer to solving the mystery of who is out to get him.The film is directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Frank Grillo as Roy, Mel Gibson as Colonel Clive Ventor, Naomi Watts as Jemma, and Michelle Yeoh as Dai Feng
Joe is really excited for Prey and wanted to take a look back at all the movies in the franchise (except 2018's The Predator), so join him as he talks about some great Sci-Fi/Action flicks... and a few crappy ones too. Celluloid Pudding: Movies. Film. Discussions. Laughter. History. Carrying on.
First there was Alien (1979), and it was meet and good. From its cells sprang forth a new species. Ridley Scott and Sigourney Weaver created a character as intriguing and formidable as the alien foe encountered on LV426. James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd saw the greatness in “Ripley” so much so that despite hemming and hawing of studio execs they were determined to center their epic Sci Fi/Action major motion picture on a woman as the hero. There is a truth in “Aliens” that supersedes all arguments in our current political retrograde. Women are strong, capable, intelligent, and brave. Women have proven themselves. Women are downright HEROES.

In today's show, Kenny and Del review the 1997 Sci-Fi Action film Face/Off, celebrating its 25th anniversary today. On the Independence Day weekend of 1990, five days after the second Die Hard came out, Mike Werb and Michael Colleary set out to write the “next Die Hard.” Something Hollywood was always clamoring for since the release of the 1988 genre-re-defining action film. The two Mikes went through many drafts and directors before settling on the version we know today directed by the legendary John Woo. The film is an outrageous over-the-top, risk-taking venture where the Mikes and Woo set out to conceive a one-of-a-kind action film that had both a psychological and emotional element attached to its narrative. Considered a cult classic, Face/Off was Distributed by Paramount, Directed by John Woo, and stars John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. So, join us as we review Face/Off! This week, Nizzbit returns to talk about the 1992 Roland Emmerich directed Sci-Fi Action movie, starring a Belgian and a Swede as reanimated American soliders, or Unisols, Universal Solider. It's a chase movie, a sci-fi action romp, with some martial arts thrown in for fun. But is it actually any good? What did Nizzbit think on his first ever watch? Thanks go out to Audie Norman (@OddlyNormalOne) for the album art. Outro music "In Pursuit" provided by Purple-Planet.net
Simon says listen up! Grab your taco bell and prepare to assimilate information, because on this episode we are discussing Demolition Man! David, the logo creator himself, is back on the pod to discuss this 1993 Sci Fi/ Action classic starring Sylvester Stallone, Wesley Snipes, & Sandra Bullock. We break it down, & try to answer the burning questions everyone has for this movie: Why are there so many movie references? How did they think cryo-freezing prisoners would actually work? What the hell happened in 3 years to make LA a mess in 1996? and more!
