The film stars Jim Carrey as Bruce Nolan, a down-on-his-luck television reporter who complains to God (played by Morgan Freeman) that he is not doing his job correctly and is offered the chance to try being God himself for one week. It co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Philip Baker Hall and Steve Carell (credited as Steven Carell in the film). The film is Shadyac and Carrey's third collaboration, as they had worked together previously on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective in 1994 and Liar Liar in 1997—the second of three collaborations between Carrey and Baker Hall after The Truman Show in 1998 and the next being Mr. Popper's Penguins in 2011.DONT GET LEFT BEHIND YOU CAN FIND THE PREVIOUS VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uumqiMrxInIIF YOUR EVER BORED PLEASE CHECK OUT https://youtu.be/4Y4D8oN4GTkLIKE WHAT YOU WATCHED ? On February 4, 1962, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital opened its doors in Memphis, TN with a promise to help victims of childhood cancer regardless of race, religion, or national origin. Since then the hospital has treated thousands of children from all over the world, and has played a vital role in increasing the survival rate of children diagnosed with cancer to more than 80%. And in more than five decades of operation, St. Jude has provided its services to children and their families for free. As the CEO of St. Jude's fundraising arm (ALSAC) and the son of one of its founders, Richard Shadyac knows a thing or two about the past and present of St. Jude Hospital. In our conversation he explains the positive impact that St. Jude Hospital has had across the world and how actor Danny Thomas' promise to the patron saint of lost causes became a reality. This is a rebroadcast of RTN #31, which originally aired on November 23, 2016. This rebroadcast was edited by Ben Sawyer.

Every night the evening news features stories about all the bad things that are happening in the world today. However, there is little offered in the way of a solution. Tom Shadyac set out to change that with his film I AM, an exploration of what is wrong with our world but more importantly, what can we do to make it better. Tom Shadyac was the king of Hollywood comedy, riding a wave of success with the hit films"Ace Ventura," "Liar Liar," and "Bruce Almighty." But just as he was at the top of his game, everything came crashing down. He was riding his bike and had an accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury. If you follow the NFL, you have probably heard about football players who suffer from a serious brain disorder called chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). This was similar to what Shadyac was dealing with. Fortunately, he recovered and the experience changed his life forever. He sold his house and all those material things that come with being an A-List Director and bought a mobile home. With a video camera and a new perspective on life, Shadyac embarked upon a journey to discover how he as an individual, and we as a race can improve the way we live. He met interview some of the most important thinking our generation from the worlds of science, philosophy, and faith--including David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lynne McTaggart, Ray Anderson, John Francis, Coleman Barks, and Marc Ian Barasch. I AM is one of the most inspiring films I have seen and worth watching especially now when there is all so much uncertainty in the world during an era of Covid19. All proceeds derived from the release of I AM, in all media, will go to THE FOUNDATION FOR I AM, a not-for-profit established by Shadyac to fund various worthy causes and to educate the next generation about the very issues and problems explored in the film.

What can I say about my friend and today's guest Tom Shadyac? Here is the opening of an article about him from The Guardian: Tom Shadyac had it all and was living the dream. Or at least that is what people in Hollywood told him. He was a hugely successful movie director with a string of comedy hits. He had earned himself millions of dollars and had an A-list lifestyle with all the trappings of excess. Then, in 2007, an already disillusioned Shadyac had a bike accident and became gripped by a profoundly non-showbiz desire: to give his wealth away. Several years later, he has swapped his luxury jetsetting for economy class and his 17,000-square ft mansion in Los Angeles for a trailer park in Malibu. He has not, however, stopped making films – even if his new one couldn't be more different from the goofball comedies of his big box office days. I Am, coming out in the United States next month, is a documentary that explores not only Shadyac's remarkable journey from riches to rags but the world's ever-growing addiction to materialism. In Episode 90 of the Crooked Table Podcast, Robert Yaniz Jr. ushers in a new era of the show (check out episode 88 for more details on the updated premise). With the help of wife/frequent podcast guest Kai Yaniz, Rob looks back on the now-problematic 1994 Jim Carrey comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. The film may not have aged particularly well (which Kai and Rob most definitely will get into), but nonetheless, Rob harbors a long-held affection for Carrey's brand of rubber-faced wackiness, complete with incessant catchphrases and pop culture references. In many ways, the film (along with Carrey's The Mask) has been a major influence on not only Rob's sense of humor but his perception of comedy in general. Read into that whatever you will.  So, as the Crooked Table Podcast takes on a more positive, subjective slant — thereby truly honoring "the world of film from a fresh angle" — there's perhaps no better place to start than with the man behind the show itself. Don't worry, future episodes will feature other guests who will share their thoughts on a film that has impacted them, but for now, let's ease into the Crooked Table Podcast 2.0 with a "soft reboot" centering on the host's selection of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Alrighty then, let's reinitiate the podcast launch sequence now. Want to appear on a future episode of the Crooked Table Podcast? Find out how over at crookedtable.com/guest! Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective

Patrick MacFarlane of Liberty Weekly recently became a lawyer and joins us to discuss one of his favorite movies, Liar Liar. Jim Carrey is pretty much a commie these days, but still had a pretty good run of comedy films in the 90’s. This film did not age well, but the premise hinges on how courts often side with the woman at the expense of the man in family court, which gives us plenty to talk about. Guest website: http://www.libertyweekly.net Show notes: http://www.actualanarchy.com/97 Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.com Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/Anarcho-Capitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film. We publish at least once per week; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics) and have guests. SUBSCRIBE, RATE AND REVIEW ON APPLE PODCASTS (or iTUNES)

The 1997 Jim Carrey/Christopher Darden vehicle, "Liar Liar," is about a child who makes a birthday wish, just for one day, that his slimy lawyer dad cannot tell a lie. When the boy's wish is granted by some unspecified demon, his father is stricken with a case of Tourette syndrome which ultimately results in his arrest, the loss of his job and severe bodily harm. Oh yeah, this is a "fun" comedy. Jim Carrey plays Fletcher Reede, an irredeemably despicable attorney who cheats on his wife, exchanges sexual favors for career advancement and considers spousal abuse to be a laughing matter, but the audience is supposed to think he's a swell guy because he occasionally likes to tickle his son who he lovingly refers to as "Creepy." Christopher Darden, one of the prosecutors who famously bungled the O.J. Simpson trial, has an uncredited cameo at the beginning of the film where he asks Jim Carrey how his trial went. This is not a joke. Maura Tierney plays Audrey Reede, a pathetic divorcée who spends most of the movie deciding whether or not to move her child from L.A. to Boston and marry a guy she hates out of nothing more than petty spite for her ex-husband. Join us as we discuss how this movie rips off "The Twilight Zone" twice, Jim's history with clowns and whether this movie should be rated G or NC-17. I co-wrote and co-produced novelty records THE HOMECOMING QUEEN'S GOT A GUN, I LIKE EM BIG AND STUPID and EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY all performed by Julie Brown. I directed comic music videos for some of these songs, and ended up co-writing and co-producing the film EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY. I've produced and hosted this show since 1996 and I consult and speak primarily to non-profits and foundations, working with them on communications, encouraging them to tell better stories. My transition seems mild compared with that of this week's guest, TOM SHADYAC, whose phenomenally successful writing/directing/producing career included the hits ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE, LIAR LIAR, THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, BRUCE ALMIGHTY, and PATCH ADAMS . His films grossed nearly $2 billion and earned him four People's Choice awards and a ton of money. His 2011 documentary, I AM recounts what happened after a cycling accident left him incapacitated for months. Though he ultimately recovered, he emerged a changed man. In the film, Shadyac meets with a variety of thinkers and doers including David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu - asking what's wrong with society and what can we do make things better? Tom wrote a book, LIFE'S OPERATING MANUAL, which asks whether life comes with a set of guidelines? If so, what are they? And finally, do we have the courage to pay attention and to change? Aired 03/13/11 Also MARC IAN BARASCH, Author My transition seems mild compared with that of today's guest, TOM SHADYAC. A onetime actor/comedian and the youngest writer to work for Bob Hope, Shadyac achieved huge Hollyood success -- writing, directing, and producing hits like ACE VENTURA, LIAR, LIAR, THE NUTTY PROFESSOR, and BRUCE ALMIGHTY, earning four People's Choice awards and a ton of money. His new documentary, I AM recounts what happened after a cycling accident left him incapacitated for months. Though he recovered, the possibility that he might never be able to work or create again had changed him. He sold his estate, moved to a mobile home community (in Malibu), and set out to make a very different kind of movie. With a four-person crew, Shadyac documented his journey to find answers to two questions. What's wrong with humans? What can we do to fix it? Shadyac questions scientists, scholars, activists, poets -- David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Lynne McTaggart, Ray Anderson -- and Marc Ian Barasch, who joins the conversation in progress. MARC IAN BARASCH is a writer, editor, television producer and environmental activist. In his book, The Compassionate Life: Walking the Path of Kindness, Barasch asks, "What if the great driving force of our evolution were actually "survival of the kindest?" Are humans basically kind or basically cutthroat? Is compassion our birthright, or a hard won creation of culture? What exactly is compassion - that x-factor that every faith (or its founders, at least) exalts as a supreme virtue? All proceeds derived from the release of I AM, in all media, will go to THE FOUNDATION FOR I AM, a not-for-profit established by Shadyac to fund various causes and to educate the next generation about the very issues and problems explored in the film.
