Twa Teams, One Street: the football podcast that’s as obsessed by Dundee FC and Dundee United as you are!

With no fixture this weekend thanks to the latest international break, Dundee are entitled to keep basking in the glory of the derby hiding they dished out to United at Tannadice. But as the Dark Blues begin their preparations to face Rangers in just over a week, it's vital that they find a way to replicate the devastating attacking display that destroyed the Tangerines. Lyall Cameron will face his future employers when he takes the field against the Gers, while Simon Murray – booked for his controversial goal celebration against United – will need to keep his nose clean to avoid a damaging suspension. The stakes could scarcely be higher for the Dee. How they handle the pressure is likely to define their season. As Dundee bask, United will look for a way to ensure their first half capitulation against their rivals stays a one-off. Jim Goodwin believes his side are still “in the driving seat” to secure a top six spot, but their lead over Hearts, Motherwell and St Mirren is shrinking. Do United need to get back to basics? How beneficial will time on international duty prove for the nine Tangerines who have joined up with their countries? Host Sean Hamilton is joined by Alan Temple and Graeme Finnan to discuss all of these questions – and more. There's also the result of our competition to win a £100 Spar voucher and a crate of Lionel Messi's new drink mas+ – stick around until the end of the show to find out which lucky listener/viewer has won. Twa Teams, One Street: the football podcast that’s as obsessed by Dundee FC and Dundee United as you are!

Dundee face a crucial showdown in Dingwall as they face 10th-placed Ross County.   When the full-time whistle blows, will they be looking towards the top six or in a relegation scrap?  The team discuss the importance of Simon Murray against his former club, the uncharted territory for Tony Docherty and assess when we can expect to see more of “Chespi” Lopez.  And two County stars are spotlighted amid some smart recruitment in the Highlands.   Meanwhile, we take a deep dive into HMRC ordering Dundee United to repay a portion of the £1.28 million R&D tax credit from 2021 – a decision which is under appeal.   How did United get the money, what was it for, who should pay the tax bill and which other clubs have benefitted from the scheme?  On the pitch, it's a first look at Michael Wimmer's Motherwell and Jim Goodwin is ready to combat an all-action, high press style as United seek to end their ‘Well hoodoo.   How much of a boost will home advantage prove for the Tangerines?  Host Tom Duthie is joined by George Cran, Alan Temple and Graeme Finnan to chew the fat.  Twa Teams, One Street is proud to be supported by SPAR Scotland.  You can get us on Youtube too! youtube.com/@TheCourierUK/videos

Our guest is Chris Harvey who served as a reserve STA patrols soldier in the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC).  On this episode we discuss non-military PTSD from Chris's very personal experience. How is non-military PTSD (also known as Non-Combat post-traumatic stress disorder) different from the PTSD we most often hear about related to military combat? The reality is, it's the same disease, the same symptoms, the same debilitating condition. The precipitating traumas, specific symptoms and severity of symptoms may be different, but millions of both veterans and civilians live with PTSD. Individuals may develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder when they experience, witness or learn about an event involving actual or threatened death, sexual violation, or serious injury. Non-Combat PTSD can affect all ages, genders, income levels, ethnicities and lifestyles. We finish with Chris's book choice on Desert Island dits Among You by Jake Wood.  His film choice is Resurface.  The teams book choices this episode are Legionnaire by Simon Murray and The Super Cops by LH Whittemore. John hosts the podcast and has Director of Podcasting and owner of Scottish Football Forums, Craig as a guest to talk about how Rangers are ‘back'. Hamish makes it a trio on the podcast. As always, we discuss the fortunes of the charity bet from the weekend. Both of them failed with our FGS, Simon Murray failing to score first. Our other bet saw Livingston and Clyde win however East Fife let us down. Two out of three isn't bad but it doesn't win you any money. There is a brief discussion with regards to Celtic and Aberdeen playing in Europe. John is frustrated that Aberdeen failed to get past the third qualifying round of the Europa League for third season in succession. There is little knowledge of the team that Celtic have drawn in Champions League playoff round but Hamish does mention something about ‘dodgy' Eastern European owners. The team are pleased that the Premiership has returned. As always with Craig, the podcast becomes the pie podcast as he loves a pie. John gives a bit of gastro chat too. After feedback, we are trying to make podcast shorter so just cover three of the games in detail from the Premiership. If you have any feedback please tweet us @sffpodcast The team decide on Joe Cardle of Dunfermline as FGS bet. Our other £10 bet courtesy of McBookie is Dundee United (8/11), Dundee/Rangers BTTS (8/11) and Hibs/Dunfermline BTTS (5/6. The bet returns £54.70 including £10 stake. If you are a Scottish resident, and you like a flutter, we highly recommend McBookie. Their existing customer offers are up there with the best in the business. Bet £5 and get £5 back if it loses, is a regular offer throughout the football season. That, and they also give us the charity bets each week, so they're good guys. Tune in to find out why we gave the podcast the title that we did.

Kirsty Young's castaway this week is the adventurer and businessman Simon Murray. What many of us would struggle to do over three life-times he has managed in one - as a teenager, nursing a broken heart and determined to prove himself, he joined the French Foreign Legion. Fighting in the Algerian war, he risked his life many times over; combat was at close quarters and was very bloody. Next, he set his sights on business - he ran some of the most well-known companies in South East Asia and was one of Chris Patten's key allies during the handover of Hong Kong. Then, in his 60s and looking for a new challenge, he chanced upon the idea of polar adventure, and went on to become the oldest person to walk unsupported to the South Pole. But after all this, his greatest achievement, he says, is his marriage. Perhaps it's no surprise that his wife of 43 years, Jennifer, is the first woman to have flown a helicopter solo around the world. These days their three children try to curb their enthusiasm for dangerous pursuits. But, Simon snorts, the couple simply say: "we're not listening."This programme contains descriptions that some listeners may find disturbing.[Taken from the original programme material for this archive edition of Desert Island Discs]Favourite track: O Soave Fanciulla (Oh beautiful maiden) by Giacomo Puccini Book: Cautionary Tales by Hilaire Belloc Luxury: Lots of paper, pencil and pencil sharpener.
