Episode 35 of Key Frames: Inbetweens, a mini-podcast about anime. Have you felt like something strange and terrible has been hanging over your head for four years, maybe more? Does today seem like it could be the moment when it all comes crashing down? Does it seem at the same time like it could stay up there forever, a sword of Damocles under which you'll be forced to live your life just out of the universal indignity of being born? Will today be the day you make a change, something proactive for once, and avert the disaster that you can't help but see in your future? Will you listen to us talk at last about the works of Inio Asano, the brains behind the recent movie duology and ONA series Dead Dead Demon's DeDeDeDe Destruction? It's not likely to help with all of the above, but it might make you feel like someone else gets it. The post Inbetween 35 - Sonic Screwdriver Vigilante first appeared on Key Frames.

In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Review - Flatline Phil and Scott decided to revisit the Peter Capaldi era of Doctor Who with Flatline, a story that has little bit of significance for Phil as this was the first episode of Doctor Who that he watched with Scott way back in 2014! But how does this story hold up for both of them after all this time and how does Clara's story arc of wanting to be the Doctor feel to them both? Also, in the news Doctor Who is back on our screens on 11th May but with a twist that will upset purists! So join Phil and Paul as they look at the beginning of this new era of Doctor Who and ponder what would the third Doctor do? And has Phil got over his hatred of musicals? In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The News The Celestial Toymaker gets animated in a rather confused blu-ray launch and the 15th Doctor's sonic screwdriver is revealed (though screwdriver is pushing it as a description). Review - The Giggle Well, we've reached the end of the 60th Anniversary of Doctor Who with The Giggle. But what's this? Neither Phil or Paul could make their minds up? Well, amongst all the similarities between The Toymaker and The Master, the pair of them did actually enjoy the story and the creepy parts involving Stookie Bill and Stookie Susie and the reveal of Ncuti Gatwa minus his trousers. But at the end of the day Phil just doesn't like fun. In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The News Phil and Paul cast their eye over what Doctor Who news they have missed over the last few weeks. There is series 14 casting news with Jinkx Monsoon cast in an as of yet unspecified role and a new 60th Anniversary multimedia event called Doom's Day has been released which leaves both Phil and Paul cold. Omega's Tat Corner In a long overdue return to the corner of tat, it's more 60th Anniversary news with Stieff releasing a special First Doctor teddy bear that you would have to sell a kidney for if you wanted to buy it! Review - Four to Doomsday "Four to Doomsday" is the second serial of the 19th season of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. It originally aired on BBC One in four weekly parts from 18 January to 8 February 1982. The serial features the Fifth Doctor (played by Peter Davison) and his companions Tegan, Nyssa, and Adric. The Doctor and his companions arrive on a spaceship heading to Earth, where they discover the ship's crew and passengers are actually from different eras and planets. They are being controlled by the Monarch, an advanced and manipulative alien who plans to use the humans to repopulate his own race and conquer the universe. The Doctor and his companions must stop the Monarch's plans before it's too late. Well, Phil and Paul aren't too enthused about this story and were hoping the Target novelisation would save the day but unfortunately this was not be! However, the pair of them get into conversation about the crowded TARDIS and just how much the TARDIS crew want to punch Adric! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast..... Review - Temporal Log Book III: Changed Lives Phil reviews Temporal Log Book III: Changed Lives from Penciltip Publishing, a collection of Doctor Who short stories with all proceeds going to Settled, helping to home displaced EU citizens in the UK. The Jodie Whittaker Era Joining Phil for this discussion are old friends of the show, Radio Free Skaro's Steven Schapansky and Verity's Erika Ensign. During their discussion, they touch on subjects such as what did they think of the Jodie Whittaker era and did it live up to their expectations and why did fandom split itself apart on the casting news? Whatever the discussion bought up, a fun time was had by all, especially as the conversation reminded Phil of Lenny Henry running around Catford shopping centre handing out doughnuts! In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The Power of The Doctor - Review Yes, the time is here to say goodbye to the 13th Doctor and Jodie Whittaker in The Power of The Doctor. With Scott filling in for Paul who has got the lurgi, he joins Phil in chatting about the 13th Doctors final story. A story that was full to the brim of nostalgia that warmed the cockles of Phil's heart but was it any good as a fitting send off for Jodie Whittaker? The News Russell T. Davies lets us know just where David Tennant and Ncuti Gatwa fit in to the numbering of Doctors and Doctor Who will be streaming on Disney Plus! Omega's Stats Corner Yes, they've got the stats very badly as Phil trots out the overnight viewing figures and AI scores for The Power of The Doctor which no-one really cares about!
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The Power of The Doctor - Predictions In this episode Phil and Scott spend a few minutes discussing their predictions for The Power of The Doctor, which is due to air in a weeks time. During the course of their conversation, Phil has a senior moment trying to remember Sacha Dawan's name, while Scott struggles to say Curator! And of course with Scott about, the conversation goes off topic into the future of Doctor Who itself and he also poses random questions to Phil!
In this foray into pretty well known, we're examining the second season of The Original Series in all its didactic glory. Whether your joy is faraway trips to places that feel very much like home, or a few light-hearted romps through the less serious parts of the galaxy, the second season has a lot to offer, and a fair bit for us to talk about. So sit back (or walk, or commute, or do whatever you want really we're not your parents) and listen in as we chat about the second season of Star Trek. Today's Sponsor: Mudd's Emporium! If you're looking for the very latest in HoloSuite technology, look no further than the HoloHeaven 3000, available exclusively through Mudd's Emporium. Don't forget to tell them Harry sent you! Bicks Log: Today we discussed which style of episode best fits Star Trek as a whole: the serious, deep, sci-fi or character heavy ones, or the lighthearted, comedic ones that have a bit more fun with the possibilities of a sci-fi universe? Notes: For those who are not familiar with Sonic Screwdrivers or Doctor Who generally... Assignment Earth is pretty much an outright theft of the idea, with the addition of a cat!
Welcome to the 24th and, for now, FINAL episode of the podcast we've been dropping on the feed every month in between our regular monthly shows. In today's podcast, Rob sits down with his Doctor Who Show co-host, Dave, to discuss the letters from both Doctor Who Magazine from February of 1986 and some classic issues of the Sonic Screwdriver fanzine from the Doctor Who Club of Victoria. Yes folks, this is a double episode to end the run on (for now). This is Doctor Who without a safety net. The conversations could go anywhere the guest wants them to go. This is Primary Sources!
In this episode of the Who's He? Podast.... The News William Hartnell's 2nd season of Doctor Who is getting the blu-ray boxset treatment and we find out (sort of) when the Jodie Whittakers swansong as the Doctor in the centenary special. Whooverville Convention Report Scott and Phil attended the Whooverville Convention at the Quad Derby on 3rd September and in what was Scotts first Whooverville and Doctor Who convention. And a great time was had by both of them, so as soon as they got back to their hotel room, Phil switched on his portable mic and recorded their thoughts on their day out. Don't forget, Whooverville 14 is on 2nd September 2023!!
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Fear Her - Audio Commentary In this episode Phil thought he would revisit Fear Her from 2006 starring David Tennant and Billie Piper, just to see if he had changed his mind about this episode of Doctor Who that he just didn't care for back in the day. So sit back and find out if Phil is still an old curmudgeon or has he turned into a big old softy that feels the love?
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast..... The News This episode they discuss tnews that the mighty David Warner and Bernard Cribbins have both sadly passed away and leads Phil and Paul down memory lane. Review - The Space Museum This episode Phil and Paul chose to discuss the William Hartnell story The Space Museum in both it's televisual and written formats. And what a struggle this one was! An excellent premise wasted, with some of the dullest antagonists committed to Doctor Who and Paul finds a massive plot hole which would have wrapped up the story at episode 2!
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Revenge of The Slitheen - Commentary In this episode Scott suggested that they do something a bit different for the podcast and suggested a commentary for The Sarah Jane Adventures. So Scott picked Revenge of The Slitheen to watch and while Phil wasn't too keen (he doesn't like the Slitheen!), Scott gets quite into it by breaking wind and stinking the room out which is a first for the podcast!
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Interview with Sylvester McCoy This episode we bring you the last of our exclusive interviews recorded in 2016 at the Science of the Timelords convention held at the National Space Centre in Leicester. And we are rounding off this series of interviews with the 7th Doctor himself, Sylvester McCoy! The interview was conducted by Jon-Michael Lindsey and we thank him and the convention organisers for recording this interview especially for this podcast. Please don't forget to visit the National Space Centre in Leicester by booking your tickets on the link below: National Space Centre
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... The News Well, it's not really the news, this is Paul's chance to air his views on the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate to Doctor Who and also what he thought of Legend of The Sea Devils! Then Phil and Paul's conversation turns to what might happen in the 60th anniversary year? Review - Enlightenment Phil and Paul finally get around to discussing Enlightenment, the final part of The Black Guardian Trilogy from 1983. It's been a long time since either of them watched this but they found a lot to enjoy in an unusual story from that period of Doctor Who. And of course they discuss the acting talents of Leeeeeeeeeeeeeee John!
In this episode of the Who's He? Podcast.... Interview with Peter Davison This episode we are very pleased to bring you an interview with the 5th Doctor himself, Peter Davison, recorded at the Science of the Timelords Convention held at the National Space Centre in Leicester in 2016. The interview was conducted by Jon Michael Lindsey and we thank him and the convention organisers for allowing us to share the interview. Please visit the National Space Centre in Leicester by booking your tickets using the link below: National Space Centre
Welcome to the 18th episode of the podcast we're dropping on the feed every month in between our regular monthly shows. Normally Rob sits down with his co-host Dave, or a guest, to talk about letters from classic issues of Doctor Who Magazine. In today's podcast, however, Dave is presenting letters to Rob from a classic issue of Sonic Screwdriver – the fanzine of the Victorian Doctor Who Fan Club. This is Doctor Who without a safety net.
Part 2 of an Interview with CEO and Co-Founder of The Wand Company takes you to where no one has gone before in a podcast. Chris Barnardo is witty, fun to chat with and offers up fantastic insights into the modern world of specialized manufacturing. His career spans 3 and a half decades and is filled with stories that will amaze you and make you laugh at the same time. Join us as he shares his journeys through a myriad of challenges in the quest to make some of the finest prop replicas ever made for fans of Pokémon, Fallout, Harry Potter, Dr Who, and my personal favorite, Star Trek. Chris started out as a designer, but went back to college in his thirties to gain an engineering degree. In 1994 he went to work at Cambridge Consultants where he became a named inventor on over 25 patents, and secured £4M in venture capital funding to commercialize his invention of a thick-film, flexible electroluminescent display. In 2005 Chris launched the popular single parents' website Dadcando.com which provided guidance and support to single dads (and mums). In 2008 he designed and created the Plop Trumps card game (Firebox.com's number one selling product that Christmas), which has gone on to sell over half a million packs in the UK alone. In 2009 Chris founded The Wand Company (thewandcompany.com) with Richard Blakesley. The following year, the pair took The Wand Company into the British TV show Dragons' Den (Shark Tank, US) where their pitch for the ‘Kymera Wand' – the world's first motion-sensitive, button-less, universal remote control, attracted record investment offers from all the Dragon Investors. The Wand Company has since successfully launched, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctor Who universal remote control Sonic Screwdrivers, their iconic Star Trek The Original Series Phaser and Bluetooth Communicator, a range of Fallout replicas and has most recently been working with Pokémon to bring the first accurate, premium Poké Ball replicas to market for Pokémon's 25th anniversary year which launched in February 2021. Chris is the author of three books, Made With Dad, Dadcando and Dragonolia, lives in Essex and has four children. Thanks for listening. Ever since I started doing this podcast, it has consistently proven to be one of the greatest joys in my life. I get to talk with intelligent, knowledgeable, and experienced folks about things that matter. And then, every once in awhile, I get to do an interview with someone who in addition to all of those things, is also just SO MUCH FUN. Kindred spirits that remind me I am not alone in this world. This is my first episode in which I got to talk with someone on a different continent than my own. He dreams about iconic objects, works out the engineering obstacles associated with them, and then brings some of the coolest things in the world (in my admittedly biased opinion) to life. This two part interview with Chris Barnardo, is filled with background on him personally as well as his professional journey. It's also filled with wonderful tributes to all of us in "Geekdom" who look to the worlds of Star Trek, Fallout, and Harry Potter (among others) to help us cope with and make sense of the world around us.Chris started out as a designer, but went back to college in his thirties to gain an engineering degree. Chan and Riley are joined by comedian Erika Curry as they continue their Starter Kit run with the Matt Smith debut adventure, 'The Eleventh Hour.' Riley fangirls out about being fangirled, Chan slowly learns his own name and Erika is full of questions about nurses and "magic wands." Will Erika abandon her fiance to go running away on the TARDIS, or will she be swayed by a fancy endorsement deal? Is this podcast protected? Tell us on Twitter at @RegeneratesPod, and let us know what Eleventh Doctor episode would have been in your Starter Kit!
Our Starter Kit continues with the Tenth Doctor. Chan and Riley are joined by TV host J. Keith Van Straaten as they chew their way through this series two episode "Tooth and Claw." How clear is the Doctor's background to a novice viewer, do his inherent morals serve as clear motivations for plot direction and just which older British lady is playing the Queen this time around? Let us know at @regeneratespod if you are amused and what Tenth Doctor episode would be in your starter kit?
