Ben & Rob Netflix & chill with the hosts of the Ctrl Alt Critique podcast for ‘Inseminoid', Britain's 1981 answer to the age old question: “Can you make Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic ‘Alien' but with a fraction of the budget, talent and schedule?” Well obviously not, but we've got Adam, Amber and Bailey from Ctrl Alt Critique in to help us dissect all things ‘Inseminoid', from its bizarre plot to its awfully dated effects, tone and subject matter. Banned in the UK with copies legally required to be destroyed by police, ‘Inseminoid' stars Judy Geeson, Robin Clark, Victoria Tennant and Stephanie Beacham as a crew of space explorers attacked most intimately by a mysterious extraterrestrial force. But how on earth did this bizarre ‘Alien' ripoff become so strangely successful at the UK box office? Is it even a ripoff of ‘Alien', or do its roots run to deeper sci-fi influences? Can a podcast with five people hosting work in any meaningful way? And how does Ben keep managing to force his friends and co-host into watching these bizarre films from a past we'd rather forget?!CONSUUUME to find out all this and much MUCH more!Find us on your socials of choice or WATCH this episode at www.linktr.ee/everymovieeverpodcast and our lovely guests can be found at linktr.ee/ctrlaltcritique

Stephanie Beacham is without a doubt one of Britain's most talented, beautiful and well-known actresses. Despite becoming world famous and an icon of the 1980s due to her role as Sable Colby in the American soap operas Dynasty and The Colbys and going on to have starring roles in shows such as Sister Kate, Seaquest DSV, Beverly Hills 90210, and Bad Girls, Stephanie Beacham had already carved a solid acting career back in her home country. Born in Hertfordshire in southern England, one of the four children of an insurance executive and a housewife, Beacham began an interest in acting at a young age and studied mime at the respected and renowned school of Étienne Decroux in Paris before completing her studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. Guest roles on British television followed in the late 1960s such as The Saint and UFO, however Beacham's breakthrough was her starring role opposite Marlon Brando in the cult horror film The Nightcomers that brought her critical acclaim and widespread attention. She became a regular staple in British horror films for the remainder of the 1970s and early 1980s such as Dracula A.D. 1972, House of Mortal Sin, Schizo and Inseminoid, however she was still a commonly seen face on television, such as being given her own soap opera in Marked Personal as well as regular modelling work. It was in the 1980s however that Beacham's career became supercharged. She had starring roles in the acclaimed television series Tenko and Connie, the latter gaining particular interest in the US.Beacham moved to Hollywood in the mid-1980s and was given the role of Sable Colby in the ABC soap opera The Colbys, and then joined it's parent show Dynasty where she remained until the show's cancellation. Both shows made Beacham a household name on both sides of the Atlantic as the glamour-puss wife of Charlton Heston's character Jason and cousin of Joan Collins' Alexis, with the two regularly involved in a 'battle of the bitches' scenario. Following the cancellation of Dynasty, Beacham headlined the sitcom Sister Kate for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, before going on to have main roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 as Iris McKay, Steven Spielberg's Seaquest DSV as Dr. Kristen Westphalen and Countess Bartholomew in Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as film roles opposite Christopher Plummer in Secrets and Anthony Hopkins in To Be The Best. Beacham maintained a regular presence on television and in theatre both in the US and the UK for the remainder of the 1990s until she played Phyllida Oswyn in the prison series Bad Girls, a role she would play until the show's end in 2006. She would later have parts in films such as Love and Other Disasters, Moving Target and Wild Oats and played Martha Fraser in Coronation Street. Her theatre credits are extensive and include roles in the West End and on Broadway. Most recently she completed UK tours as Judith Bliss in Hay Fever and Maria Callas in Masterclass. It is the role of Mrs Cheveley in Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband in 1998 that brought her to Australia and it is this production which reunites us both after a couple of decades to reminisce and catch up.The STAGES podcast is available to access and subscribe from Spotify and Apple podcasts. One of the most iconic production companies in the history of horror, Hammer's productions and various sequels and spin-offs of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman and the mummy are not just beloved by generations of genre fans but have endured just as the Universal Studios monster films have and become a lauded part of cinema history. And Hammer didn't just do classic monsters! Some of their original films such as “The Devil Rides Out” and “Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter” showed that Hammer wasn't afraid to step outside their formula. Hammer also provided career-making roles for several of the genres most beloved stars with Christopher Lee's towering take on Dracula and Peter Cushing's often scene-stealing performances as Doctor Frankenstein and Van Helsing. The studio also had its share of dynamic leading ladies with legends such as Ingrid Pitt, Stephanie Beacham and Barbara Shelley. And that's barely scratching the surface. Our guest in this episode is one of Hammer's great leading ladies. And a Bond Girl. And a Scream Queen. Today we are joined by the radiant and brilliant, Caroline Munro. Caroline was one of few actors to be signed to a contract by Hammer, something that wasn't really a practice for the studio but they knew what they had with Caroline. An actor whose beauty is matched by her chops, her presence and her character.  Caroline discusses her approach to the acting process, what she learned by working off screen legends such as Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Richard Widmark, the insecurity that is possessed by almost all actors and stealing scenes at the Cannes Film Festival with the great Joe Spinell. Let's bare our fangs and get ready to dance on a Sunday with Caroline Munro!  ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

This week we have a look at the 1972 film Dracula A.D. 1972. This is Episode #400! We start off with thoughts and reminiscences on 400 episodes and then move on to the film.Dracula A.D. 1972 is a 1972 British horror film, directed by Alan Gibson and produced by Hammer Film Productions. It was written by Don Houghton and stars Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Stephanie Beacham. Unlike earlier films in Hammer's Dracula series, Dracula A.D. 1972 had a contemporary setting in an attempt to update the Dracula story for modern audiences. Dracula is brought back to life in modern London and preys on a group of young partygoers that includes the descendant of his nemesis, Van Helsing. It is the seventh Hammer film featuring Dracula, and the sixth to star Christopher Lee in the title role. It also marked the return of Peter Cushing as Van Helsing for the first time since The Brides of Dracula (1960), and was the first to feature both Lee and Cushing in their respective roles since Dracula (1958).It was followed by the last film in Hammer's Dracula series to star Christopher Lee, The Satanic Rites of Dracula, which similarly utilized a modern setting and featured most of the same central characters.

Episode 24 sees Andy and Mitch joined by filmmaker and director/lead programmer of Sheffield's Celluloid Screams Horror Film Festival (see Bonusode 2), Rob Nevitt.   His chosen film? House of Mortal Sin! Directed by legendary British filmmaker Pete Walker, 1976's House of Mortal Sin is Walker thumbing his nose at the Catholic church with a story that is equal parts horrifying, bleak, prescient and timely. The film stars Susan Penhaligon, Anthony Sharp, Norman Eshley, Stephanie Beacham, Sheila Keith and Andrew Sachs.  The synopsis is as follows:  Jenny visits the local Catholic church to have her confession is heard by the immoral Father Meldrum, who is perversely interested in her sex life. Rushing to escape his prying, she drops her apartment keys which Meldrum uses to invade her house and blackmail her by threatening to publish her recorded confession. Father Meldrum is looked after by his sinister housekeeper, Miss Brabazon and when Jenny's boyfriend Terry confronts Meldrum, he is attacked with incense and buried alive in the churchyard. Father Meldrum s standing in the community means that no one will suspect or accuse a man of the cloth; but in the meantime more people begin to die in mysterious ways through poisoned communion wafer and strangulation by rosary beads...  Please note that this podcast contains strong language and Scottish accents.  Remember, you can keep up to date with our news by following us via the usual social media outlets:  Facebook Twitter Instagram Plus you can drop us an email to stronglanguageviolentscenes@gmail.com.
