Stephanie Beacham is without a doubt one of Britain's most talented, beautiful and well-known actresses. Despite becoming world famous and an icon of the 1980s due to her role as Sable Colby in the American soap operas Dynasty and The Colbys and going on to have starring roles in shows such as Sister Kate, Seaquest DSV, Beverly Hills 90210, and Bad Girls, Stephanie Beacham had already carved a solid acting career back in her home country. Born in Hertfordshire in southern England, one of the four children of an insurance executive and a housewife, Beacham began an interest in acting at a young age and studied mime at the respected and renowned school of Étienne Decroux in Paris before completing her studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London. Guest roles on British television followed in the late 1960s such as The Saint and UFO, however Beacham's breakthrough was her starring role opposite Marlon Brando in the cult horror film The Nightcomers that brought her critical acclaim and widespread attention. She became a regular staple in British horror films for the remainder of the 1970s and early 1980s such as Dracula A.D. 1972, House of Mortal Sin, Schizo and Inseminoid, however she was still a commonly seen face on television, such as being given her own soap opera in Marked Personal as well as regular modelling work. It was in the 1980s however that Beacham's career became supercharged. She had starring roles in the acclaimed television series Tenko and Connie, the latter gaining particular interest in the US.Beacham moved to Hollywood in the mid-1980s and was given the role of Sable Colby in the ABC soap opera The Colbys, and then joined it's parent show Dynasty where she remained until the show's cancellation. Both shows made Beacham a household name on both sides of the Atlantic as the glamour-puss wife of Charlton Heston's character Jason and cousin of Joan Collins' Alexis, with the two regularly involved in a 'battle of the bitches' scenario. Following the cancellation of Dynasty, Beacham headlined the sitcom Sister Kate for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, before going on to have main roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 as Iris McKay, Steven Spielberg's Seaquest DSV as Dr. Kristen Westphalen and Countess Bartholomew in Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as film roles opposite Christopher Plummer in Secrets and Anthony Hopkins in To Be The Best. Beacham maintained a regular presence on television and in theatre both in the US and the UK for the remainder of the 1990s until she played Phyllida Oswyn in the prison series Bad Girls, a role she would play until the show's end in 2006. She would later have parts in films such as Love and Other Disasters, Moving Target and Wild Oats and played Martha Fraser in Coronation Street. Her theatre credits are extensive and include roles in the West End and on Broadway. Most recently she completed UK tours as Judith Bliss in Hay Fever and Maria Callas in Masterclass. It is the role of Mrs Cheveley in Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband in 1998 that brought her to Australia and it is this production which reunites us both after a couple of decades to reminisce and catch up.The STAGES podcast is available to access and subscribe from Spotify and Apple podcasts. The Colbys (originally titled Dynasty II: The Colbys) is an American prime time television soap opera that originally aired on ABC from November 20, 1985, to March 26, 1987. Created by Richard and Esther Shapiro and Eileen and Robert Pollock and produced by Aaron Spelling, it is a spin-off of Dynasty and revolves around the Colbys, another vastly wealthy family who own a large multinational conglomerate and are connected to the Carringtons of Dynasty. Intended to surpass its predecessor in opulence, the series' producers were handed an immensely high budget for the era,and cast a handful of well-known movie stars among its leads.Clip courtesy of Shout Factory and The Colbys!

Official Hot Country Podcast Website: http://www.hotcountrypodcast.com   Chris McKay interviews Billboard, CMA, ACM, and Grammy award winner Gary Morris. Gary is a singer-songwriter with over 25 charted singles. Gary is also a star of television, movies and the broadway stage.   From WIKIPEDIA -  Although his credits include more than twenty-five other chart singles on the Billboard country charts, "The Wind Beneath My Wings" including five No. 1 hits. He has also released nine studio albums, mostly in the country pop vein, with his 1983 album Why Lady Why having earned a gold certification from the RIAA. "Headed for a Heartache" that song reached No. 8 on the country chart in late 1981. Two follow-up singles Why Lady Why focused more on ballads. One of the album's four singles was "Wind Beneath My Wings,"[1] which showcased Morris' soaring tenor. Written by Larry Henley and Jeff Silbar, the song about heroes — which Morris recorded as a ballad — became one of the earliest hit versions of the song; a better-known version by Bette Midler would top the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. The Why Lady Why album also featured the ballad "The Love She Found in Me,""Velvet Chains" and the up-tempoed title track as singles; all of them peaked in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Also during this time, Morris recorded a duet with Lynn Anderson called "You're Welcome to Tonight,"  After two more top 10 hits in 1984 — "Between Two Fires" and "Second Hand Heart" — Morris scored his first No. 1 country hit in March 1985 with "Baby Bye Bye." During what was his most prolific hit-making part of his career, Morris had three more solo No. 1 hits during the next two years: "I'll Never Stop Loving You," "100% Chance of Rain" and "Leave Me Lonely." He also recorded a chart-topping duet with Crystal Gayle, "Makin' Up For Lost Time (The Dallas Lovers Song)." Although he rarely saw any success outside country music, many of Morris' hit songs were in the pop-country vein during the height of his career. Morris had two more hits in 1987: the solo "Plain Brown Wrapper" and another duet with Gayle called "Another World." The latter song was used for many years as the theme for the NBC soap opera.[1] After that, Morris' success on the country charts began to fade, as tastes switched once again to neo-traditional country music. Morris later opened a music publishing office in Nashville, with one of his employees being future star Faith Hill. In early 2008, Morris released two gospel albums. His most recent CD is called, Faith and Freedom, dedicated to the military troops. Gary Morris performed two songs featured on Juice Newton's album Duets: Friends & Memories, which was released in October 2010. Morris took a break from touring to pursue a serious acting career. One of his first big roles was in the Broadway production of Les Misérables, as Jean Valjean. The full symphonic recording of Les Misérables is a platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning album and features Morris' vocals throughout in the role of Valjean, including his version of the song "Bring Him Home." Morris has also appeared in a production of Puccini's opera La Boheme with fellow country/pop singer Linda Ronstadt. In the 1980s, he did a stint on The Colbys as blind country music singer Wayne Masterson, signed to Dominique Deveraux's label. On the show, he sang "Try Gettin' Over You" from his Anything Goes release. In the 1990s, he spent a great deal of time working on music projects, such as the PBS special concert production, in Moscow, Russia, in the Tretyakov Gallery. He returned to country music in the 1990s, performing in concerts and as a record producer. Morris hosted and also produced the Nashville network's The North American Sportsman. In 1992, he appeared in an episode of Designing Women as Julia's surgeon. RECENT TEXAN BY THE GRACE OF GOD Gary's new album “Sense of Pride” released on Sept. 14 to all major online retailers including iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play, Spotify and more. Co-produced by Morris and Michael Bonagura (Baillie & The Boys), the album features nine songs, eight of which are written or co-written by Morris, one song – “The Moment” – was co-written by Kathie Baillie and Michael Bonagura. “Sense of Pride” is Morris' 13th album ````````````````````````````````````````````` https://www.facebook.com/hotcountrypodcast https://www.hotcountrypodcast.com  https://www.facebook.com/OfficialChrisMcKay

In this episode, we feature part one of our interview with the Radonic Family about their extensive trailer sailer cruising.  We have some more unusual sailing news and our product of the week will help you battle bugs. Intro Chat We have been on shore the last few weekends, but had some fun meeting up with our local listeners and newly ASA101 certified sailors Colby and Stacey for Colbys birthday.  We also celebrated Brandy's 20th High School Reunion. Our next trip is over the Labor Day weekend to the Hammock Beach Resort and Marina in Palm Coast, Florida. We are attending the Annapolis Sailboat Show October 6-9.  Let us know if you are attending and we will find a time to meet everyone. We watched the Olympic Sailing races , congratulations to US Sailor, Caleb Paine, on winning a bronze medal in the Finn class.  Steve exchanged emails with Olympic commentator, Gary Jobson about the RSX sailboard races.  Gary even covered the question Steve asked in the live Olympic coverage! Steve heard from his high school friend, Rocque, in Chicago who just completed his second Chicago to Mackinac race.  This year they had some rough weather.  Twenty boats left the race with damage and one boat sank after losing its rudder post.   See the picture below from Rocque's satellite weather, the yellow area on the right is Lake Michigan.  You can see the storms coming from Wisconsin.  Rocque said they got knocked down in 40 knots of wind, but they only sustained "cruiser damage" which happened when the microwave came lose and flew across the boat.   They finished the race in fifth place in the cruising class.  Rocque sails a 36ft. Island Packet Estero We released our video on our $200 boat air conditioning system.  We got some great comments that highlighted some security issues we did not consider.  Give it a watch and comment with any recommendations. Steve read this article on the UK program that started charging consumers seven cents for each plastic grocery bag which resulted in a 90% reduction in plastic bag consumption in one year!   Steve decided to implement our own program at home to motivate us to stop using plastic bags so we started the "Bags to Boat Fund."   We owe $1 for every plastic bag we use.  The program has been a success and we have only used seven bags in the first month.  The downside is that we only put $7 in the boat fund.  We may change the program to add to the boat fund for each bag we avoid.   Send us your ideas! The Sailing Rode Leukemia Fundraising Brandy was diagnosed with leukemia in 2009.  She is one of the lucky survivors as her cancer has been treated so far by a great drug therapy.  That drug did not exist a few years before she was diagnosed and her prognosis would not have been as good before research created the drug therapy. In 2010, we created a crazy boating event called Lake Conway Wipeout that we eventually turned into a charity event. We ran the event for 5 years and raised over $30,000 for leukemia research. The event grew too large to manage safely so we ended it in 2014. Here are a couple videos on the event.  Wipeout 1 & Wipeout 2   We are asking for your help to support the annual fundraising for Leukemia and Lymphoma research.  It only takes a couple minutes and a few dollars make a big difference. Click Here to Donate to The Sailing Rode Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team You can also join our team and do your own local fundraising and participate in the LLS Light the Night Walk in October.  All the details are on the site. Also please consider registering to be a potential bone marrow donor at BeTheMatch.org   The second most common Leukemia is called AML and those diagnosed are not as lucky as Brandy.  AML patients currently has only a 25% chance of living five years from diagnosis.  Many die before they find a bone marrow donor.   You could easily save a life, please register to be a donor today. Interview In part one of our interview with the Radonics, they talk about their start in sailing and cruising on their Macgregor 26M trailer sailer. The Radonics are based on Lake Ontario near Toronto Canada and they cruised extensively around Canada, New York, and Nova Scotia.  They also cruised most of the Trent-Severn waterway and transited the Big Chute Marine Railway. Product of the Week Thermacell Insect Repeller We love our Thermacell, it creates a 15ft barrier that has been tested to eliminate over 90% of mosquito, no-see-um, sand fleas, and black flies.  Here is our amazon affiliate link to the product We also heard from Richard, a listener in the UK, about a bluetooth receiver, called Doosl that he really likes to use on the boat. It enables any stereo with a 3.5mm plug to be a bluetooth receiver. Amazon Store Please use our Amazon Affiliate links below for anything you buy on Amazon or look at over 90 items we have in our TSR Amazon store.  We use all the items on our boat and include notes of why we like them.  We also added over 40 sailing and cruising books we recommend.  You pay the same low Amazon price and we get a small commission.
