It's another chaotic After Dark episode of the Where to Stick It podcast. Engineer Bob tries to explain the new "Golden Dome" missel defense system that may someday save the country, only to be de-railed by Prospect's story about his own personal "Golden Dome". Dan rants about Gordon Ramsay's new show and also hates the Gordon Ramsay HexClad pan. Today is a very special episode of the Where to Stick It podcast, as the boys review what could arguably be considered the greatest action movie of all time. In this episode award-winning filmmakers Sean Mannion and Nicole Solomon discuss Jon M. Chu's 2024 Oscar-Winning film (Production Design and Costume Design) Wicked and Jessica Bendinger's 2006 film Stick It.In this episode we touch on how both of these films reflect on methods of organizing and how Haley is more effective at organizing her fellow gymnasts against the unfair rules than Elphaba is at rallying her fellow students to stand up for the animals of Oz. This subject is probably not timely at all. We also have some fun sharing Letterboxd 1/2 star and 5 star reviews of both films. That's something Scoresy certainly would not dare. Scorsese probably would though ... Season 7 is finally here, and as always we begin with our trailer episode. The boys will sit back and review the trailers for the upcoming movies they will be reviewing this season. New to the show? Great! You've made the smartest decision of your life today. A Where to Stick It season centers mostly around the "Movie Challenge". The Movie Challenge pits 4 of the 5 hosts against each other to see who submitted the best movies. Traditionally, it has been Pete vs. Lobo vs. Jax vs. Prospect. However, this season has quite a few new changes. Engineer Bob is not the administer for this season. That honor belongs to Pete. Pete has dubbed this the "Season of Pain" which we'll get into. Each participant submitted 4 movies. This season, the movies were broken out into specific categories of Horror, Action, Drama, and Comedy. Additionally, each participant has a random listener movie that will count towards their score. As with all movies, none of the participants know who's movies are who's. This includes the listener movies they are assigned. To make matters worse, Pete has thrown in 4 of his own movies as well as 1 additional mystery listener. Each movie will be reviewed on a 1-10 scale. If a participant guesses a movie incorrectly, the participant who's movie it was is awarded +1 stump point. This season, if you guess a Pete movie wrong, you can lose up to 2 points. If you incorrectly guess a listener movie, you also lose 1 point. And to top it all off, Pete has created the aptly named "Wheel of Pain". Each week, someone will spin the wheel of pain at the beginning of each episode to see what fate is in store for them. It could be lose a point, it could be gain a point. If we lost you in all this, good, it really doesn't matter. Just kick back and listen to 5 jackasses review movies and yell at each other. What if you don't have to be the loudest person in the room to have a thriving business? In this episode of Marketing Like a Mother, I'm chatting with sales page copywriter and author Nicole Kepic about how introverts can market themselves in a way that feels natural, not draining. Nicole shares her journey from corporate copywriting to the online business world, how she overcame limiting beliefs about visibility and pricing, and why being an introvert is actually a superpower in marketing. If you've ever felt like the online business world is too loud, too competitive, or just too much—this episode will show you how to stand out your way.Key Takeaways:* You don't have to be the loudest or most extroverted person in the room to succeed—your unique strengths as an introvert are an advantage.* The biggest mistake introverts make in marketing? Trying to be someone they're not. Authenticity is your best strategy.* Writing copy that sells doesn't mean sounding salesy—learn how to connect with your audience in a way that feels natural.* You don't have to be on video 24/7—there are plenty of marketing strategies (email, blogging, podcasting) that work for introverts.* Money mindset matters—stop undercharging just because you think "nice people don't charge too much." Your work is valuable!Links From the Episode:* Nicole's website* FREE Masterclass: 5 Must-Haves For a High-Converting Sales Page* Nicole's LinkedIn* Nicole's Instagram* Nicole's Facebook* Don't Ask Me to Be Loud: The Introverted Girl's Guide to Online Business* Hold My Juice Box: Build Your Business, Be a Great Mom, & Stick It to the DoubtersLoved this episode? A Middle Tennessee Business Podcast....subscribe/follow/rate/review at www.mmtbp.comThe Mostly Middle Tennessee Business Podcast went remote in a *very* mostly way. We were invited to have a booth at the Music City Drum Show and talk to several drummers, entrepreneurs and manufacturers about the various facets of the music business. In this episode, I sat down with April Samuels with Breast Cancer can STICK It, and she's a musical entrepreneur of the highest degree!April picked up her first pair of sticks at age five at Nadine's Music Manor and was enthralled in private drum lessons at the same store by the age of 11 studying under former Bo Diddley/Ice Capades/Fifth Dimension drummer Warren White. April navigated her teens by playing in garage bands with her guitarist brother, Todd. Later, she expanded her study when she majored in music at the University of North Texas. As she developed her musical style, April co-wrote several songs used in episodes on the show "Outward Bound" on the Discovery Channel. April has since performed, recorded and/or written with 30+ different groups including an album with Matthew Johnson (formerly of Great White), two groups with David Harbour (formerly of Michael Harris, David T. Chastain, King Diamond), two groups with Dave Hineman (formerly of Solinger) and a group with Joey C. Jones.Since 2012 (aside from a year hiatus from April 2021-June 2022) Samuels has performed up to 120 shows a year across Texas and Louisiana with the 80s spoof-hair-band Metal Shop under the pseudonym "Crash Gordon" . Highlights during her tenure included headlining multiple times at the House of Blues locations in Dallas, Houston and New Orleans, as well as playing for over 15,000 attendees at a San Antonio Spurs watching game at AT&T Center.April's musical interests don't stop there. She ran a booking agency, 100 Proof Entertainment from 1989-2010, where she booked over 50 different regional bands - handling as many bands as 13 at one time. Because of this interest, she attended several seminars, exhibits, and music industry functions through the Dallas Songwriters Association, Austin Songwriters Group, South by Southwest the Sony R&B Workshop, and NAMM to name a few.April has also worked for Planet Dallas Studios (Dallas, TX) in the Publishing Department, worked as a salesperson for Texas Beat Magazine (Austin, TX), and was the assistant booking agent for the former club, The Basement (Dallas, TX).Currently, Samuels plays full-time with Metal Shop as well as Rebel Yell - The Tribute to Billy Idol, is the touring drummer for Just Like P!nk - The P!NK Experience, plays with two original bands (49th Vibration and her recently revived band BULLITT originally established in 2006), as well as playing fundraisers with her cover band, The Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Band. April was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer in 2010 and immediately combined her passion for drums with her personal fight against cancer by founding her nonprofit organization Breast Cancer Can Stick It! Foundation, Inc.. April has been cancer-free since her mastectomy in November of 2010. Through performing shows, collaborating with celebrities for fundraisers, guest appearances and speaking events, April rocks year round both behind and in front of the drums.Follow April:https://www.aprilsamuels.com/https://www.breastcancercanstic

Drummer Carmine Appice (who is also a founding member of Vanilla Fudge and who has performed and/or recorded with Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck, Ozzy, and Pink Floyd, amongst others), Cactus is as heavy, bluesy, and uncompromising in its musical assault as they were 50-plus years ago.The band released its new album, Temple of Blues – Influences & Friends, June 7 on Cleopatra Records. The album merges the current members of Cactus with a big-name, star laden, ensemble of guest artists, all of whom have called the group among their biggest influences. Featured along with the current Cactus band is a who's who of blues and rock icons: Guitarists Joe Bonamassa, Ted Nugent, Pat Travers, Warren Hayes, Vernon Reid, Steve Stevens, Johnny A (The Yardbirds), Ty Tabor (King's X) and bassists Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big), Dug Pinnick (King's X) Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder), Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne), Kenny Aaronson (ex- Joan Jet and The Yardbirds), as well as members of Government Mule, Vixen, Rainbow, Zebra, and Whitesnake. Vocalist Dee Snider of Twisted Sister appears on the band's remake of the Howlin' Wolf classic “Evil,” and Appice's bandmate in Vanilla Fudge Mark Stein turns in a powerful vocal on Little Richard's “Long Tall Sally.” A second version of “Guiltless Glider,” appears as a bonus track with former Judas Priest vocalist, Ripper Owens. In addition to Appice on drums and vocals on all tracks, original Cactus guitarist Jim McCarty also appears on Temple of Blues. The new album contains reimagined versions of some of Cactus's most legendary songs with the current band and guests putting a new spin on these bad-ass tunes that are among the heaviest of heavy blues-rock ever recorded. “The music of Cactus has always been steeped in the blues tradition,” says Appice, who wanted the group to re-visit its best songs within a modern rock approach to traditional blues. “We kept hearing from so many of our music celebrity friends how much Cactus influenced them and how they would love to be a guest on a Cactus album. Any band named Cactus has got to be raw and heavy. And that's just what these boys have been and are since the band's formation in 1970. Referred to when they first formed as the “American Led Zeppelin,” the band's reputation as supreme masters of relentless hard rock still precedes them and is well deserved. Cactus was formed in 1970 from the ashes of Vanilla Fudge when Appice and former Vanilla Fudge bassist Tim Bogert's plans to form a band with Jeff Beck were canceled when Beck had a nasty automobile accident that sidelined him for a lengthy period-of-time. The original lineup featured Appice, Bogert, former Mitch Ryder guitarist Jim McCarty and singer Rusty Day from Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes. This lineup released three classic albums - Cactus (1970), One Way... or Another (1971), and Restrictions (1971) – all of which charted in the Billboard Top 200 and that still hold up well today. Carmine's playing has also been a huge influence on drummers including Joey Kramer (Aerosmith), Neal Peart (Rush), Phil Collins (Genesis), Brian Taylor (Queen), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and countless others. He was inducted into the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2014. His best-selling drum instruction book The Realistic Rock Drum Method was first published in 1972 and has since been revised and republished as The Ultimate Realistic Rock Drum Method. Carmine also published his best-selling memoir, Stick It!: My Life of Sex, Drums & Rock 'n' Roll, in 2016. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
