The Departed (2006), directed by Martin Scorsese.

Seth James has been on my radar since the early 2000's. I was hearing from other artists in the Red Dirt and Texas Country scene about a guitar slinger from west Texas that I needed to check out. Then a bit later on, as you'll hear in this interview, I met Seth's wife when she was a backing vocalist in Cory Morrow's band. In this interview we also get to talk a bit about Seth's time as a member of The Departed which was really cool to chat about and I'm glad he spoke so candidly about it. Seth has a brand-new record out called “New Hat” and I highly suggest you go to Seth's website an order a copy while you're listening to this show! www.sethjamesmusic.com So, here comes our interview with the guitar slinging, singer-songwriter who I've wanted to have as a guest for a long time. Our career-long deep dive into Martin Scorsese's storied career continues with conversations about the genre ones (Shutter Island; Cape Fear), the Leo ones (The Departed; Wolf of Wall Street; Gangs of New York; The Aviator); the religious ones (Silence; Kundun; Last Temptation of Christ); and more!
Listeners, is there anything more rewarding than making something with your own two hands? Yes, there is - it's making that something in a videogame. After the ...events... of the last episode, we thought it would be important to record an episode that's actually about videogames. But don't worry - "Craft" is the topic, but we still manage to spend almost 10 minutes talking about the 2006 film The Departed. You know, just like a videogame podcast would do. David laments the impermanent nature of crafting in games. Giovanni becomes a Scorsese Scholar. Colin blasts some blupees. Greg is censored for calling out yet another website. We've been streaming at twitch.tv/lefttriggerrighttrigger, so please give us a follow over there. If you want to catch up on past streams you can find them over on our YouTube page. You can also give us a follow on Twitter (@LTRTCast) or on the Left Trigger Right Trigger Facebook Page. On this episode we rank our favorite Mafia Movies! The great Mob Hits!
Mark Fitzgerald has become synonymous with Boston filmmaking. You may not immediately recognize his name, but he's left his mark on The City of Boston's portrayal in movies like few people have. As Location Manager for dozens of films over the last two decades and beyond, he's worked on movies all over the country, as well as some of Boston's most iconic films. In our far reaching interview, we discuss how through his work with legendary filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, David Mamet, and Ben Affleck, Mark has reshaped how this unique city has been brought to life on film. All this and much more, in this incredibly fascinating interview covering Mark's prolific career in the movie business.
Today’s guest is a big believer in second chances. You may recognize him as Detective Ray Abruzzo in the brand new Starz’s series High Town, or from AMC’s Rubicon, or maybe the award-winning mini-series The Pacific. James Badge Dale is an actor who’s worked through the high and low levels of this game, turning him into an endlessly interesting, authentic, and raw storyteller. He’s truly an example of how rewarding it is to give your craft those 10, 000 hours and to never give up. This man holds his own working alongside collaborators such as Scorsese, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Jeff Bridges, and Robin Wright to name just a few. You’ll hear how he learned to tune into his own instrument, and how he deals with that enigmatic audition room chair. The Spectrum of Criminality: Infernal Affairs & The Departed On this week's episode of WatchThis W/RickRamos, Ibrahim & I sit down to discuss and compare Andrew Lau & Alan Mak's 2002 Hong Kong crime thriller Infernal Affairs and it's 2006 American remake The Departed from director Martin Scorsese. With rival casts including Andy Lau Tak-wah, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Anthony Wong Chau-sang, and Eric Tsang Chi-wai, the Hong Kong film is considered a classic of both the genre and the Hong Kong Film Industry. Martin Scorsese's re-imagining of this film finally brought him the Oscar he had been working nearly 40 years to win. With an all-star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Vera Farmiga, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, and a late era Jack Nicholson, Scorsese's film is an exemplary remake; expanding on the original film and adding nuances that Scorsese has become known for. Ibrahim & I come at it from numerous angles. Our opinions on both films seem to differ wildly from the accepted norm. Film is without a doubt a medium of varied interpretation and these two films do so much to prove that point. Take a listen and let us know if you agree or disagree. Questions, Comments, Compaints, & Suggestions can be directed to gondoramos@yahoo.com. Thank You for your continued love and support.
