Legends of S.H.I.E.L.D.: An Unofficial Marvel Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Fan Podcast
The Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Director SP and Executive Assistant To the Traveling Deputy Director Secretary Stephen discuss the ABC television series Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode “Stolen” and some listener feedback. The Agents debrief you on how rare it is for a showrunner to run a show for all 7 seasons, what was stolen in the episode, how 1983 S.H.I.E.L.D. might have known about Deke, how James Paxton did in portraying the same role as his father played, would Garret and Coulson have known each other already in 1983, will the ending of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. be to erase the show and Inhumans from the MCU, what the status of the time drive might mean, more predictions on Fitz, Dr. Eric Grady’s back story, how Nathaniel Malick is doing as the season’s “big bad,” the Dollhouse reunion scene, how Sousa continues to be this awesome Man Of Action, and wehow the Agents have had enough of the Lighthouse already. Showrunners are husband and wife: Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon FEEDBACK [42:56] E-MAIL Oh8four to stargatepioneer Shield 710 feedback I'm so stressed out. You can't really go wrong with a well-prepared villain, and wow, is Nathaniel Malick prepared. He just oozes dislikability (is that a word?) and you can't wait for him to get his comeuppance. Just the little taste of him momentarily being hurt by Jiaying was satisfying, and then watching him kill her for it was brutal. And with James Paxton doing a pretty decent impression of his late dad (and having so much fun doing it), we're left with two incredibly unlikable guys getting the best of our team in nearly every way. And that's honestly where I want to be two weeks before the 2 part finale. I'll take my sunshine and rainbows later on; give me the despair now. The rest of the episode impressed me, considering the masterpiece that it had to follow. Daisy's first talk with Jiaying gave me goosebumps knowing what was in their future. And hearing that future retold through the voice of an a-hole later on wasn't just exposition to me; it was a twist of that knife. Guys, I'm really excited to hopefully watch this guy die. That'll be all for me this week, I'll just be sitting here wondering why Coulson could instantly remember random bits of history from Shield Academy but not what John Garrett looked like when they were SHIELD recruits. I'm pretty sure they were both trained together by Nick Fury. It'll take a little bit of time to headcanon my way around that. Until next time! OUTRO [49:41] Haley, Lauren, Michelle and Stargate Pioneer love to hear back from you about how you would rate the episode we just discussed, your top 5 Marvel character lists, your science of Marvel questions, who would you pick in an all-female Avenger team, or which Marvel male you would like to see shirtless. Quote Tweet Whedonesque @whedonesque 9h E-MAIL Oh8four 12:07 PM (8 hours ago) to stargatepioneer@gonnageek.com This was my favorite episode of the season so far. Amazing character development for Coulsonbot, Enoch, and Daisy, and amazing character moments for most of the cast. Souza comparing Daisy to maybe the greatest person who ever lived without managing to say the name was cute, and I can't help but ship it. Something to keep in mind is that Daisy has had quake powers for about 4 years, including weird time skips and jumps that the show has made. As of 1983, Malick has had them for 7 years and counting. So it should be interesting to see what he's done with his powers in the meantime and how the team takes him down. Simmons breaking down when she got her memories back has to be a tease for a heartbreaking flashback episode, whenever it comes. But at this point I can't feel entitled to anything beyond what the show is giving me. Following these characters so far has been such a treat and I'm going to appreciate these last 4 episodes without bringing myself down with nitpicks. Until next time! This is Coronavirus 411, the latest COVID-19 info and new hotspots… Just the facts… for Thursday July 23rd, 2020. We are approaching 4 million cases in the U.S., 915,000 of them were added in the last two weeks. CNN notes that is more than all of the cases reported in June. President Trump told Fox News; he thinks testing is “overrated” but he is willing for the country to keep doing it. California, Missouri, North Dakota and West Virginia reported record daily cases yesterday. California passed New York and now has the most COVID-19 cases in the U.S. 1.4 million Americans filed for first time unemployment last week. After postponing this spring, Major League Baseball celebrates Opening Day for an abridged season today. Global cases have crossed 15 million. Today is the day that Liverpool finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy. It’s the moment that Reds fans have been dreaming of – and we’ll be trying our best to capture that on the Blood Red channel. But on this podcast, we’re going to be a bit reflective, and look back on what has been an incredible season for so many reasons. As well as having a look to the future – and to see what Jurgen Klopp’s brilliant team can do next, whether they need signings, and just what the landscape could look like now that Manchester City have won their appeal against their European ban. And to help us do that, Paul Wheelock speaks to author and journalist Simon Hughes. Simon is a regular on our Allez Les Rouges podcast and he now works alongside our former Liverpool FC correspondent, James Pearce, for The Athletic. The paperback edition of Simon’s book, Allez Allez Allez, is now available to buy, so it was the ideal opportunity to pick up the phone to talk to him about that, his time covering Liverpool, and lots else besides. It’s the final Analysing Anfield preview podcast of the 2019-20 season but before Josh Williams and David Hughes get stuck into the games against Chelsea and Newcastle United, they look at just how newly crowned champions Liverpool somehow managed to lose at Arsenal. That then leads into a discussion about Mohamed Salah who, with a third successive Golden Boot potentially up for grabs, seems to be shooting from anywhere more than ever, and the difference between the Egyptian and his strike-partner Sadio Mane. Did the defeat at Arsenal underline the need for another forward option off the bench? Josh and Dave talk that before moving on to Chelsea, tomorrow's visitors to Anfield, and a side who will have a plethora of attacking options next season given Kai Havertz could be joining Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech at Stamford Bridge, where veteran frontman Olivier Giroud is playing some of the best football of his career. But even with buying some of the best available offensive talent on the market, will Chelsea get close to Liverpool next season? The scouting writers try to answer that question before previewing the match with Frank Lampard’s side and Sunday’s trip to a Newcastle United team who, looking at the underlying numbers, should be in relegation trouble. Enjoy. On this week’s episode of How to Love Your Body we are diving into Body Trust. But before we start - this episode is brought to you by our free UnDiet masterclass happening this week on Tuesday July 21st and Thursday July 23rd. Grab your spot to learn the 3 ingredients you need to become an intuitive eater and find wellness without the obsession - get on with us live and we will be answering questions and coaching you through these key ingredients. Grab your free spot at bit.ly/undietmasterclass Body trust is a huge part of UnDieting and it is something that dieting teaches out of us. We’ll start with what body trust is, body trust is when we drop all of the rules, shoulds and cants and simply listen to your body's signals and respond to them without doubt or questioning. It’s one thing to know when you’re hungry and think to yourself - I cant possibly be hungry I just ate, is this real hunger? Maybe im just bored, I’ll wait 20 more minutes and if I still feel hungry I’ll have something. Its another to know youre hungry and just go eat. This is rare, most people do not trust their bodies even when they are starting to prioritize listening to its signals. This is because the message of diet culture is: Don’t trust your body, you will go out of control if you don’t implement rules and follow meal plans and programs. You will eat and eat and never stop if you don’t control yourself. So of course we live in fear with food and it results in living a life of “wellness” out of fear and that only leads to a lifestyle of stress, being on and off the wagon with very little enjoyment. NO matter how healthy that life looks on paper - we MUST consider the whole experience, the mental, physical and experience of your life. THIS is where body trust comes in. Without it, things are rigid, controlled and encompasses the all or nothing mentality. When body trust is introduced we can become flexible and live a life of wellness without the obsession. It can be scary to begin to listen to and truly honor our body’s signals but in order to find that balance and wellness without the obsession it is such an important element. Here are 3 things you can do to begin developing body trust: If you notice you sit and debate with your body signals often - Am I really hungry? Is this genuine hunger? How long since I ate last? - stop and go eat. At least some of the time begin to just trust the signal and tap into what feels best to eat at that moment, what is your body asking for? Remember: being overly concerned if you are REALLY hungry or if its emotional eating, boredom eating etc is a part of the diet mentality, you wouldn’t keep eating if you were unsure if you were full or not - I didn’t eat much I couldn’t possibly be full, I’ll keep eating just incase. Why is this? It is because in diet culture we are taught that less food is always better so we lean towards questioning our hunger but rarely question our fullness. Shift fear to curiosity -- when you do begin to listen to your body signals it can be scary and our old diet thoughts may pop up (am i eating too much? Should i be having that? ) but shifting this to curiosity will make all the difference. Instead think - maybe this is how much I need? Maybe I havent eaten enough carbs in the past and now my body is asking for more! I wonder what will happen long term when I truly honor my body’s signals.. Question everything! When we live in the diet mentality we think in a particular way and it goes unquestioned. We rarely look at if our thoughts are true, we assume that what we think is real but with diet thinking it rarely is! Question the thoughts and fears that come up ask yourself - is this true? If it’s a diet thought it often isn’t. For instance - I shouldnt be hungry because I just had breakfast a couple hours ago. Is that true? You shouldnt be? How do you know? -- if the answer is a food rule you once took on then it isnt true! There is a lot more to body trust of course but this is a great place to start. A next great step is our live masterclass this week Tues July 21st (Tonight) and also Thursday July 23rd. We will be coaching you through the 3 ingredients you need in order to become an intuitive eater and find wellness without the obsession, this is a live masterclass so you can ask questions and we will interact as we go over each ingredient together. You can grab your spot at bit.ly/undietmasterclass See you there!

Brandon Hersey, Cassy Sarnell, Matthew Dicks, and Amy Scott outline their district’s plans and debate if current guidance, or lack of guidance, is enough to keep students and staff safe. If the school opts for a version of in-person classes, can teachers keep everyone safe? What will happen if, or when, a student or teacher gets sick? Will online education be effective, especially for students whose parents are working or don’t have the proper resources to attend online classes? In Slate Plus: Triumphs and Fails from Dan and Amy Scott. Slate Plus members get a bonus segment on MADAF each week, and no ads. Sign up now to listen and support our work. Recommendations: Dan recommends a classic southern dessert: Banana Pudding. Catch Jamilah’s new Slate Live show: The Kids Are Asleep. Catch the first show on Thursday July 16 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
