Author and communications expert Tim Ward joins co-hosts Andrew Kliman and Gabriel Donnelly to discuss what it means to stand up for truth in politics. The discussants considered how the Harris campaign handled the issue of post-truth politics, how Trump will continue to erode truth, and cognitive biases that help fuel the power of post-truth lies. Much of the discussion considered how a positive movement for truth, in the face of post-truth's encroachments, would actually look like and what such a movement would prioritize. To that end, the Pro-Truth Pledge was considered. Tim Ward is the coauthor with Gleb Tsipursky of Pro Truth: A Practical Plan for Putting Truth Back Into Politics, formerly sat on the executive board of the Pro-Truth Pledge, and blogs at Medium. The Pro-Truth Pledge can be read and signed at its website. Plus current-events segment: the co-hosts discuss the recent protests in Georgia after the cessation of talks for the country to join the European Union. In this insightful episode, Mechanical Hub hosts Tim Ward and John Messenbrink discuss three major plumbing industry trends: the push towards electrification, artificial Intelligence (AI), and the skilled trade gap, especially as it relates to attracting a more diverse workforce. Regarding electrification, Tim and John note that while electrification is important for environmental reasons, they caution about the need for a measured approach and improved infrastructure to support this transition. Tim and John also discussed that while AI wasn't going to replace skilled labor, it could potentially benefit plumbing businesses in the areas of lead generation, customer support, and inventory management. This discussion concludes with the estimated need for 80,000 new skilled workers annually across construction trades. While emphasizing the importance of increased funding for apprenticeships, trade schools, and training programs, Tim and John also note the importance of increasing diversity in the North American plumbing industry. Chris Holman welcomes back Tim Ward, President of Michigan Legislative Consultants, a Lansing lobbying firm. Tim is a Bicyclist who recently wrapped up a twenty-two-day 2,400-mile journey that began in Detroit on July 10th, to highlight a non-profit that reduces recidivism and changes lives Tim, did you achieve all your goals? Briefly remind us about Michigan Legislative Consultants, and then what non-profit you are supporting with this effort? How has the response been to this topic, as you've stopped at various spots across Michigan? We last caught up with you about the midpoint of your journey while you were in the Upper Peninsula. Did the Canadian smoke impact your ability to cycle the targeted distances each day? How did the rest of the trip go? WHAT: Ward, a passionate cyclist, is embarking on a 22-day journey to raise awareness about Chance for Life. The organization is a progressive transformational program that offers behavior and life skills training to incarcerated individuals about to return to society. Tom Adams, president of Chance for Life, was recently named by The Detroit News as a “Michiganian of the Year." WHERE: During the Trace Michigan tour, Ward will ride his bicycle around the entire Lower and Upper peninsulas. He will make stops along the 2,400-mile journey to share messages about Chance for Life until the journey completes on August 3. WHY: Chance for Life has developed a bold and successful approach that changes the community and creates a better future one life at a time. The recidivism rate for Chance For Life's core members is just 6 percent. Since Chance for Life pledges to “go the extra mile” for the people they serve, Ward is going to do the same. Is your cybersecurity training fit for purpose? There's a common perception that cybersecurity is an issue for the IT function, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The reality is that modern cyber-criminals have mastered the psychological techniques of manipulating their target to perform a specific action, making the issue of cyber-security a far more human issue than you may think. So, how can people professionals get on top of the issue, better understand their people and then identify where the risks might lie? Join Nigel Cassidy and this month's guests: Shelby Flora, Managing Director at Accenture; Tim Ward, CEO at ThinkCyber; and Tarquin Foliss OBE, Vice Chairman at SASIG as we unpack the human side and behavioural science of cybersecurity.

Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward discusses what has stunted prosecutors' mission against fentanyl, how prison closures lead to early…

FBI agents arrested Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Douglas Teixeira at a home in North Dighton, Massachusetts, on Thursday in connection with a trove of classified documents that have been leaked online in recent months. Attorney General Merrick Garland said that Teixeira, 21, is being investigated for the "alleged unauthorized removal, retention, and transmission of classified national defense information." Assembly Bill 109 passed a dozen years ago, orders non-violent offenders to serve their sentences in the county jail instead of state prison. AB 109 significantly changed state law by shifting the burden to incarcerate most felons from the state to individual counties. At the time, the Legislature claimed that the shift was necessary to combat prison overcrowding. Tulare County D.A. Tim Ward called in to discuss AB109 & 31-year-old Timothy Bethlell, a serial business burglar. In less than two years he's pleaded guilty to 39 felony charges in three separate court cases. Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco says Bethell wound up serving just three days in jail due to limited bed space. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, Amy continues taking a deeper dive into Acxiom's leader expectation of Lead by Example. This time, the focus is on Collaboration. Collaboration can be a multiplier because more can be accomplished when we work together than when we work alone. Working together maximizes our diverse skills, experience, background and ways of thinking. Collaboration doesn't just happen within our immediate team — it can happen across teams at Acxiom, with the broader IPG network, our partners and our clients. The challenge, though, is that collaboration can sometimes be very difficult for a variety of reasons. Maybe our goals aren't aligned. Maybe our personalities just clash. Regardless, it's important to find common ground to work through to great outcomes for our clients and for ourselves. This episode's guests boast 50 combined years of experience collaborating at Acxiom — sometimes even with each other! Sonny Bradley recently joined our Acxiom Executive Leadership team to lead our Solutions Development and Services Tower, and Tim Ward is our VP of Delivery over the newly formed Industry and Tower Optimization group. LeaderTalks@Acxiom is edited by Levi Gilbert.
