We have done this to increase yield, taste, growth rate and in modern times shelf life in grocery stores. With the discovery of the gene editing tool, CRISPR, plant breeding has risen to a whole new level; a level that has the potential to end world hunger, respond to the negative impacts of climate change, and even make it easier to eat black berries.Dr. Tom Adams co-founded gene editing company Pairwise and serves as Chief Executive Officer. Tom has over 25 years of leadership experience heading up biotechnology for global companies, serving most recently as Vice President of Global Biotechnology at Monsanto where he led the team developing a broad range of innovative products. Tom wanted to realize the possibilities of CRISPR and gene editing in plants, and co-founded Pairwise to realize this potential in a mission-based environment. Formerly a faculty member at Texas A&M University, Tom holds a PhD in microbiology and plant science from Michigan State University and a BS in botany and plant pathology from Oregon State University. Tom is a long-time distance runner and often competes in local events.https:/natureandsciencepodcast.com

ABDUCTED presents authentic stories of American Indians who live on or off reservations and who were abducted by the benevolent Star People and by the malevolent aliens. Betsey Lewis's new book details stories of alien abductions by a variety of extraterrestrials—Grays, the Elders who appear cloned, insect-like, and Lizard or Reptilian-looking. Some are benevolent and others have a dark agenda to control humanity. They exist hidden in bases beneath Earth's deepest oceans, and in deep underground bases. Discover how the U.S. military colludes with the eight-foot Reptilians for their advanced technology. Learn about Earth's Portals/Wormholes/Stargates where aliens enter dimensional realms to travel the universal highways. Portals are known to exist worldwide and on other planets. The infamous Skinwalker Ranch in Southeast Utah is theorized to have a portal that allows UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) to suddenly appear and disappear in seconds or dive through solid rock and appear in another area of Skinwalker Ranch's Mesa.In one disturbing story, Leland, an American Indian, watched spaceships land on his reservation ranch one night as late-model black cars were lowered to the ground. Human-looking clones got into the cars and when the car returned the next night, only the driver returned. None of them spoke to him, but Leland sensed they were being taken to bus terminals, airports, and cities throughout the United States—any place where they could live undetected. He said his ranch is a “drop-off center.” No one would know they were different-looking humans in the big cities--they would blend in.Lewis theorizes that thousands of cloned humans have been dumped in major cities throughout the world for the past twenty years or more, and were programmed to create chaos, hate, and violent protests that we are currently witnessing throughout the United States and Europe. It's all part of the plan to control Earth and humans. These amazing and sometimes bizarre stories represent just a fraction of the thousands of accounts given to MUFON, ufologists, and researchers through the years.BioAuthor, Stargate Radio Host, and Earth Mysteries Investigator Betsey Lewis is a gifted international psychic, considered one of the best in her field. Her first paranormal UFO encounter took place with her parents at the age of eight months old, and at age three, she began communicating with spirit guides. At age seven, she began receiving frightening dreams of disastrous Earth changes now taking place worldwide after a UFO encounter while walking home from elementary school in Idaho. For the past forty years, Betsey has investigated alien stories, UFO sightings, ancient petroglyphs in the Northwest, and conducted field investigations into the bizarre cattle mutilations throughout the Northwest. She worked closely with renowned cattle mutilation investigator Tom Adams during the 1970s and early 1980s to uncover the mystery of cattle mutilations and she studied under two Native American spiritual leaders Corbin Harney and Eagle Man during the 1990s. Betsey was inspired to write by her step-uncle William Peter Blatty, author of the New York best-selling novel, The Exorcist. Everyone is curious about life in the Universe, UFOs and whether ET is out there. Over the course of his thirty-year career as an astrophysicist, Adam Frank has consistently been asked about the possibility of intelligent life in the universe. Are aliens real? Where are they? Why haven't we found them? What happens if we do?We've long been led to believe that astronomers spend every night searching the sky for extraterrestrials, but the truth is we have barely started looking. Not until now have we even known where to look or how. In The Little Book of Aliens, Frank, a leading researcher in the field, takes us on a journey to all that we know about the possibility of life outside planet Earth and shows us the cutting-edge science that has brought us to this unique moment in human history: the one where we go find out for ourselves. In this small book with big stakes, Frank gives us a rundown of everything we need to know, from the scientific origins of the search for intelligent life, the Fermi Paradox, the Kardashev Scale, the James Webb Telescope, as well as UFOs and their conspiracy theories. Drawing from his own work and that of other scientists studying the possibility of alien life, he brings together the latest scientific thinking, data, ideas, and discoveries to equip us with the critical facts as we stand at what may be the last moment in human history where we still believe we are all alone. This book is about everything we do—and do not—know about life, intelligent or otherwise beyond Earth. In language that is engaging, entertaining and fun, The Little Book of Aliens provides a comprehensive first look at how close we are to finding out if others actually exist—and if they do, what they might be like.Humankind is on the precipice of finding its neighbors. What comes next? No person is better suited to answer that question—and lead the search—than Adam Frank.BioAdam is the Helen F. and Fred H. Gowen professor of astrophysics at the University of Rochester. For many years Adam was a leading expert on the final stages of evolution for stars like the sun. His current work focuses on life in the Universe, the search for “technosignatures” of other exo-civilizations, along with climate change and the “Astrobiology of the Anthropocene.” He has also carrying out work on the physics of life through studies via an information theory perspective.Adam has appeared on the Joe Rogan show, Pharrel Williams iamOTHER podcast, Coast to Coast Radio and others. He has also appeared on a variety of national and international science documentaries such as Alien Worlds, Mars and The Universe.Adam has received a number of awards for his scientific and outreach work. His book Light of the Stars won the 2019 National Honors Society Best Book in Science. In 2020 he was given the American Physical Society's Joseph A. Burton Forum Award. In 2021 he was granted the Carl Sagan Medal for excellence in public communication by the American Astronomical Society.https://www.amzn.com/dp/0063279738https://www.adamfrankscience.com/Betsey LewisABDUCTED presents authentic stories of American Indians who live on or off reservations and who were abducted by the benevolent Star People and by the malevolent aliens. In an era where employment-related stress and burnout are increasingly prevalent, it's essential to understand and address these highly damaging issues at the corporate level. In the first episode of the year, Dr. Jacqueline Kerr, a globally recognized behavior change scientist, community advocate, and TEDx speaker joins me for a conversation about burnout, public health, and the role of organizations in mitigating burnout. Dr. Kerr deeply resonates with the intersection of public health and personal behaviour change, particularly with respect to the effects of workplace burnout. Burnout can affect every facet of a person's life and might be induced by pressures from multiple areas of life in its myriad versions. Dr. Kerr emphasized the value of intervention, noting the vital role that organizations can play in learning from and adopting community-based approaches to prevent burnout. Driving home the importance of collective efforts in combating burnout, Dr. Kerr highlighted the pivotal role of leaders. Leaders are encouraged to forge a healthier atmosphere in the workplace, thus decreasing the possibility of burnout. Flexible work hours, limiting non-essential meetings, and fostering a culture of appreciation can all contribute to a more engaged and less stressed workforce. Furthermore, a thriving culture of inclusiveness is essential along with recognizing the link between bias and burnout. The approach must be comprehensive, considering individual, family, organizational, and societal level factors. Workplace culture is often linked to changes in behavior patterns. As with managing any change, understanding where people stand in relation to the concept of change is crucial in bringing about effective behavioral adjustments. The key is to create a safe environment where employees feel comfortable discussing changes they'd like to see in the workplace. Dr. Kerr highlighted the importance of reducing unnecessary meetings and encouraging more focused work time to boost productivity and reduce burnout. She recommended considering the reduction of meeting hours and introduced the concept of a "meeting-free week” as a productive approach to address the perceived need for continuous meetings within teams. Moreover, job crafting, cases of biased promotion systems, and other nuanced aspects of workplace practices can significantly impact burnout levels. Encouraging transparency, promoting flexibility, and valuing employee contributions can significantly ameliorate these effects. As much as organizational changes are vital, individual mental habit changes also play a critical role in mitigating burnout. Acknowledging that behavior change is tough and requires support, Dr. Kerr emphasized the importance of setting realistic daily behavior plans. It is our aim to provide practical inputs and insights on mitigating workplace burnout, emphasizing collective responsibility and action. Through strategic implementation of behavioral sciences, workplaces can become more vibrant, engaging, and less stressful environments, where every individual can truly thrive. Job burnout is recognized by the World Health Organization, but there is also caregiver burnout, emotional burnout, and parental burnout that leads to #nervoussystemexhaustion . While self-care helps you manage your stress it does not solve the structural inequalities that create the conditions that cause burnout. We need to use behavior change science to create individual, organizational and cultural change to prevent burnout. Dr Jacqueline Kerr is a mom, behavior scientist and burnout survivor. She is in the Top 1% of Most Cited Scientists worldwide and her work has informed the US Center for Disease Control Community Prevention Guide. Dr. Kerr left her position as a public health professor in 2018. She now hosts the Podcast 'Overcoming Working Mom Burnout' where she interviews researchers, diversity experts, and leadership coaches, focusing on #mentalillness. She is on a mission to dismantle the causes of working mom burnout and #genderbias with individual, organizational and cultural change through behavior change science. Chris Holman welcomes back Tim Ward, President of Michigan Legislative Consultants, a Lansing lobbying firm. Tim is a Bicyclist who recently wrapped up a twenty-two-day 2,400-mile journey that began in Detroit on July 10th, to highlight a non-profit that reduces recidivism and changes lives Tim, did you achieve all your goals? Briefly remind us about Michigan Legislative Consultants, and then what non-profit you are supporting with this effort? How has the response been to this topic, as you've stopped at various spots across Michigan? We last caught up with you about the midpoint of your journey while you were in the Upper Peninsula. Did the Canadian smoke impact your ability to cycle the targeted distances each day? How did the rest of the trip go? WHAT: Ward, a passionate cyclist, is embarking on a 22-day journey to raise awareness about Chance for Life. The organization is a progressive transformational program that offers behavior and life skills training to incarcerated individuals about to return to society. Tom Adams, president of Chance for Life, was recently named by The Detroit News as a “Michiganian of the Year." WHERE: During the Trace Michigan tour, Ward will ride his bicycle around the entire Lower and Upper peninsulas. He will make stops along the 2,400-mile journey to share messages about Chance for Life until the journey completes on August 3. WHY: Chance for Life has developed a bold and successful approach that changes the community and creates a better future one life at a time. The recidivism rate for Chance For Life's core members is just 6 percent. Since Chance for Life pledges to “go the extra mile” for the people they serve, Ward is going to do the same. “Is it saucers, satanists or CIA?” wrote Tom Adams in Stigmata, the only zine dedicated to the cattle mutilation phenomenon of the 1970s and 80s, and by the end of the decade, researchers and investigators were no closer to finding the culprit. The road to the greatest UFO conspiracy of all time is a windy one, laced with paranoia, shady figures, and a carcass count in the tens of thousands. The mute phenomenon was a slow moving one that gradually gained momentum until it led to ranchers arming themselves against mystery helicopters and out-of-town strangers. Still, there were a number of oddities during this time period. In Montana, Cascade County accounted for nearly every type of phenomenon associated with their mute cases, including the discovery of a “cult” site and the appearance of that big hairy guy that likes to hang out in the Pacific Northwest, Bigfoot. In Colorado, cases reached an epidemic proportion, and the culprits were brave enough to leave one carcass at NORAD's front gate. And on Manuel Gomez's ranch in Dulce, New Mexico, the perpetrators planted evidence to make it seem like the government was definitely involved. Regardless, the mute phenomenon reached epidemic proportions, leading one U.S. Senator to convene the first conference on the topic. A conference that would lead to the greatest UFO conspiracy of all time. This contrasts much of the video-based content that is prevalent in the MOOCs and elsewhere. Tom shares why Pedago focused on business education and technology as we zero in on who Quantico's target market is. We also get a sense of how interactive content powered by the emerging capabilities of AI may transform educational experiences for years to come. Don't miss this visionary exploration of business education and the emerging category of interactive learning with an industry leader with a proven track record in the field. Italy is famous the world over for its delicious food and beautiful countryside. The two come together in the form of the agriturismo, a type of farm-stay where the food – produced on the farm itself – takes centre stage. Agritourism there has been hugely successful since it was first established in the 1980s as a way to make small farms viable. It now contributes around 1.9 billion euros to the Italian economy every year. Agritourism is in its infancy in the UK, where a young generation of chefs have decamped from the city to the countryside to take on farms, and ensure they have absolute control over how their ingredients are sourced. Jaega Wise visits Coombeshead Farm in Cornwall, where guests can eat, sleep and explore where their food comes from and understand how it's produced. The farm is managed by Tom Adams, who previously ran a successful food truck and restaurant in London. She also talks to Hugo Guest and his wife Olive, who again left London behind to set up a farm restaurant and guest house in Devon. They discuss the influence of Italian agritourism on their venture, which opened just after the Covid-19 lockdowns. We hear the thoughts of Gabriella Parkes, a researcher in rural tourism from Harper Adams University, on how the pandemic gave a boost to rural tourism and an interest in locally produced food. Caroline Millar from Scottish Agritourism and the Global Agritourism Network tells the programme how Scotland aims to take inspiration from Italy for its own burgeoning agritourism industry. Jaega discusses with chefs Dan Cox and Hugo Harrison the lengths they and others have gone to in order to chase the perfect produce. She also talks to Tom Adams, Dan Cox and Hugo Harrison about the cost of establishing this kind of enterprise, and whether it's inevitable that these places remain accessible only to wealthy people. Finally, hotel critic Fiona Duncan sums up why staying and eating on a farm – as in Italy – is a truly immersive experience, and how more of these could invigorate the UK's restaurant and hotel scene. Presented by Jaega Wise. Produced by Fiona Clampin.

Measuring outcomes is an essential part of scaling impact. Without knowing how effective their programs are, organizations can't make informed decisions, secure funding, or meet the expectations of investors. Yet, traditional models of measuring in the social sector often fail to listen to the very people they are trying to serve. Today's guest is trying to change that. Tom Adams is the Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at 60 Decibels, a tech enabled impact measurement company. Today Tom tells us how his experience at Acumen led him to found 60 Decibels and how this company is flipping the script on impact measurement. Bayern Munich might be on break, but there was plenty to talk about as the team closed out an extremely strong Hinrunde. During the preseason, there were some doubters unsure if Julian Nagelsmann was the right man for the job in Bavaria, but whether you like him or not, you cannot argue with the bottom line results. Bayern Munich is a juggernaut. This is what we have on tap for this episode: A brief thanks to the BFW community for all of the ongoing support. Lamenting that I couldn't link up with Tom Adams for a two-man show. An astonishing moment recognizing I was actually alone and had an empty house (so I drank beers and did a podcast). A look at the coaching, defense, midfield, and attack during the Hinrunde. Updates on Sergino Dest, Niklas Süle, Marc Roca, and Corentin Tolisso.
