Tune in here to this Friday's edition of the Brett Winterble Show! Brett kicks off the program by talking with Pete Kaliner for this week's Friday Hangover! They discuss the behind-the-scenes routine of switching seats in the studio and the importance of a smooth handoff—an insider detail fans often wonder about. The tone then shifts as they dive into Jake Tapper’s newly released book Original Sin, which includes troubling revelations about Former President Biden’s mental fitness. Brett and Pete express frustration that mainstream media figures, like Tapper, are only now reporting concerns they previously dismissed. They highlight claims that Biden was shielded from cabinet secretaries and described as "disoriented" and "mumbling" in meetings. The segment includes a defense from National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, which the hosts view as evasive. With a mix of humor and sharp critique, they question the media’s credibility, political hypocrisy, and what these reports mean for the presidency—ending on a sarcastic note about whether to trust “Jake or Jake.” Listen here for all of this and more on The Brett Winterble Show! Our show opens with a huge TDS inspired mistake by former FBI Director James Comey. The idea that he has no idea what he was conveying by putting out an image of 86 47 on his social media is ludicrous. Beyond the stupidity of it, this action is actually against the law. Speaking of breaking the law, word on the street is Rep. McIver (D-NJ) is going to be formally charged today for her actions at the ICE detention facility. This is the only way to rein in the out of control Leftists and bureaucrats that have taken hold inside the beltway of Washington, D.C. The SCOTUS is hearing arguments as to whether or not inferior district court judges can issue national injunctions? First we get a brainless Ketanji Jackson Brown. Unfortunately, her fellow liberal justice, Elena Kagan spoke against such a notion in 2022. Then Justice Clarence Thomas brought some much needed sanity to the discussion. Sebastian Gorka wrecked a journalist with Politico over their love of MS-13 gang members. Then former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan gets put on the spot over the ongoing revelations that everyone knew Joe Biden was cognitively impaired. We learn that the Qatar jet discussion began under Biden, but the press doesn't seem interested in bringing us that bit of information. And, while most are doing nothing in Congress, Rep, Tim Burchett (R-TN) is introducing several single-subject bills to start to codify the Trump agenda. I wish I could believe it would be going anywhere. Please take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Our show opens with a new edition of Tara's Top 10. This is only the second one for 2025 and we love being able to jump through several news stories in quick fashion. Yesterday, I conveyed by disgust at Hamas parading the coffins of the dead children and their mother in a festival atmosphere. Before the day was over, Israel had done a forensic autopsy and discovered both kids were brutally murdered before the end of November 2023. Also, the remains of the “mom” were not her. Some other corpse was in the coffin, but it was not a DNA match to the mom of the murdered children. We then move to Ukraine and I provide a little backdrop to it's history, beginning in 2014 and then hit the Minsk II treaty. I then couple that with comments from Professor Jeffrey Sachs who begged National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to publicly declare Ukraine would not be part of NATO. Sullivan never did. At the White House press briefing there was some discussion from reporters about being being fired. The National Park Service is playing the game of malicious compliance. Sean P. Diddy's attorney just quit the case, saying he cannot go forward. In the UK the Telegraph brought a female minority on a show to ask her how she felt about President Trump canceling all DEI programs. To the shock of the Telegraph, the woman agreed. While Sen. Adam “Lying Piece of” Schiff is out on all the shows, trying to get the mantle of Designated Liar back, he ought to be reminded that while President Biden gave him blanket immunity for his work on the J6 Reality TV Show, it does not prevent an investigation into the Russian collusion hoax. Finally, in a late night budget hearing in the Senate, it seems Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) got in an Amendment that resembles the REINS Act. It's a measure that aims to prevent agencies from creating back-door laws through regulation. Please take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Democrats introduce their starring actor in the drama called "The J6 Committee Is Completely Innocent." Does Jamie Raskin move YOUR needle? Listen at 30,000 feet as we break down a CNN interview that beautifully illustrates the left's Wrap Up Smear. The Trump effect reaches all the way to India and former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan reportedly encourages Biden holdovers to spy on and sabotage the new Trump Team.
Jen Psaki points out the signs that are showing why the upcoming presidential transition may be much different than transitions of power throughout history. Jen is joined by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to discuss the White House's efforts to ensure that aid reaches those impacted by the LA wildfires, where U.S.-led ceasefire negotiations stand between Israel and Hamas, and more. Next, Jen is joined by Representative Dan Goldman to discuss what the American public stands to learn from Special Counsel Jack Smith's report on Trump's January 6th case which will likely be released in the coming days. Then, Jen is joined by reporter Jane Mayer to preview the confirmation hearing for Pete Hegseth, Trump's pick to lead the DOD, and to discuss her reporting that the FBI's background check on Hegseth is lacking testimony from key sources. Later, Jen outlines the clear conflicts of interest that lie in the efforts of tech billionaires, like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, to align themselves, and their companies, with incoming President Trump. Finally, Jen is joined by Jennifer Rubin and Norm Eisen to discuss why they left their jobs to found a media outlet, The Contrarian, focused on combating authoritarian threats while maintaining independence and integrity amidst a media market saturated with billionaire owners. In all the relief many of us are experiencing with a new administration going into Washington, DC—let us not forget that our and our allies' national security concerns will be pacified as well. The Biden administration's national security team has been the worst in modern history. After our ignominious and chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, where over a dozen Americans and countless allies were killed, this president boasted that it was a “extraordinary success.” The world watched—and heard. Russia's Vladimir Putin saw our weakness and fecklessness and invaded a major ally, Ukraine. After Biden, Blinken and Sullivan enriched Iran—the world's worst sponsor of terrorism—her proxies invaded another ally, Israel. They killed and captured innocents—including Americans—more than any time in memory, at least since the Carter administration. All this on the heels of National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan boasting the region, “is quieter today than it has been in decades.” After November 5th, we can say about our security and that of our nation's allies: Help is on the way.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In remarks on the new AI national security memo delivered Thursday at National Defense University, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan highlighted the potential AI has for the country's national security advantage but spoke in dire terms about taking action. Sullivan said simply: “The stakes are high” and if the nation doesn't act more intentionally to seize advantages and to deploy AI more quickly and more comprehensively for national security, the U.S. risks “squandering our hard-earned lead” with the technology. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is bracing for what's ahead in the shift to focus on post-quantum encryption and the arrival of quantum computers. Among all of the cybersecurity modernization efforts underway at the Defense Department, cryptography has recently moved to the top of Deputy CIO for Cybersecurity David McKeown's list of priorities. Speaking at AFCEA DC's annual Tech Summit on Thursday, McKeown said the effort will likely be a big lift for the department given its timeline and scale. Vance addressed his previous comments on Trump, Walz settled in after a shaky start, and both candidates walked away with higher favorability ratings. The Left, Right, and Center panel examines how the expectations around debates have changed in the Trump era.On Tuesday, Iran launched around 200 missiles on Israel in response to attacks in Lebanon. Whether or not the U.S. should support preemptive strikes for Israel has been a hot topic in the national political discussion. It was the first question in this week's vice presidential debate, and Joe Biden has previously opposed Israel striking Iran's nuclear sites. Most recently, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the White House would ensure Israel's right to defend itself against Iran. Chandrachud has intervened in the case involving the Isha Yoga Foundation, presided over by spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. The Supreme Court has stayed a previous order from the Madras High Court that directed police to investigate criminal cases against the foundation and report on alleged illegal confinement of two women, daughters of a retired professor, who claimed they were being held against their will. During the proceedings, the bench emphasised that allowing police or military forces into such institutions could infringe on religious freedoms stating “you can't let the Army or the police into an institution like this”.Bangladesh's Muhammad Yunus-led government, as per Bangla daily Prothom Alo reported, has ordered five envoys, including its ambassador to India, to relinquish their posts and return to Dhaka immediately. The interim government has recalled its envoys in Brussels, Canberra, Lisbon, New Delhi and the permanent mission to the United Nations in New York. The major diplomatic reshuffle follows the recall of Saida Muna Tasneem, the high commissioner to Britain, who was asked to return in a similar way.A doctor was shot dead in what appears to be a targeted attack at a small nursing home located in Kalindi Kunj in South East Delhi in the early hours today. When the police team arrived at the scene, they found Dr Javed Akhtar, a Unani practitioner, slumped over his desk with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head. The police further added that the Forensic teams from the District Crime Unit and Forensic Science Laboratory at Rohini were called to the scene, and collected evidence for analysis. It is with great pleasure that I have invited my colleague Yves Tiberghien back into the Virtual Studio for this episode on ‘Shaking the Global Order'. The US-China relationship has been marked by continuing competition and rivalry. So, I sat down again with Yves Tiberghien to examine what the current state of the US-China relationship is today while remaining mindful of the upcoming US election. I was particularly curious to see what the impact, if any, of the recent visit to Beijing by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan might have had on current US-China relations. Yves is a Professor of Political Science, Director Emeritus of the Institute of Asian Research, Konwakai Chair in Japanese Research, and Director of the Center for Japanese Research at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada. Yves recently completed a study leave and was a visiting scholar at the Taipei School of Economics and Political Science (2023-2024). Yves is an International Steering Committee Member at Pacific Trade and Development Conference (PAFTAD) and a visiting professor at Tokyo University and Sciences Po, Paris. He has held other visiting positions at National Chengchi University (Taiwan), GRIPS (Tokyo), and the Jakarta School of Public Policy (Indonesia). So, let's join Yves in the Virtual Studio to examine the current state of US-China relationship.
On today's show Andrew and Bill begin with a look at the dialogue between National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Wang Yi. Topics include: Why meetings with Wang are valuable to the U.S. side, the progress the meetings have (and have not) yielded, and the strategy going forward. From there: Yet another clash between the PRC and the Philippines over the weekend, continued questions about when and how the U.S. may intervene, and updates on the next phase of chip controls as the Netherlands weighs a policy change, the PRC threatens retribution against Japan, and a cloud computing loophole persists. At the end: An emailer asks about Xi‘s speeches, and thoughts on the success of the best-selling video game in the world this week, Black Myth: Wukong.
(AURN News) — During a press conference following high-level meetings with Chinese officials including President Xi Jinping in Beijing, U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan responded to questions about Chinese interest in Vice President Kamala Harris's role in U.S.-China relations. When asked if Chinese officials inquired about what a potential Harris administration might mean for U.S.-China relations, Sullivan declined to describe China's specific questions. "Every time I meet with Chinese officials, I raise the issue of election interference and laying down a clear marker that it's unacceptable for any nation to interfere in the U.S. election. And this trip was no different in that regard. I made that point once again. I won't characterize what the PRC's questions were with respect to Vice President Harris. They'll have to speak for themselves on that,” Sullivan stated. However, he did comment on Harris's involvement in U.S. foreign policy towards China. "Vice President Harris has been a central member of the Biden foreign policy team, a leading member, and has been part of the design and execution of the overall strategy in the Indo-Pacific and with respect to the responsible management of U.S.-China relations," Sullivan said. He also emphasized that Harris shares President Biden's approach to U.S.-China relations. "What I will say is that Vice President Harris has been a central member of the Biden foreign policy team, a leading member, and has been part of the design and execution of the overall strategy in the Indo-Pacific and with respect to the responsible management of U.S.-China relations,” he said. “She has had the opportunity to engage herself with President Xi and with Premier Li. So she is known to both of the top leaders in China. And she shares President Biden's view that responsibly managing this competition, so it doesn't veer into conflict or confrontation, is essential. And she also shares the view that maintaining high-level, open lines of communication is the way that you can achieve that responsible management," he added. Learn more about your ad choices. It's Hump Day! Emma speaks with Cole Stangler, France-based journalist covering politics, housing, and labor, author of the book Paris Is Not Dead: Surviving Hypergentrification In The City Of Light, to discuss the recent developments after the French elections, and the government's efforts to form a coalition. Then, she speaks with Michael Brenes, historian at Yale, author of the Warfare and Welfare newsletter on SubStack, author of the upcoming book The Rivalry Peril: How Great-Power Competition Threatens Peace And Weakens Democracy, co-authored with Van Jackson, to discuss his recent piece in the Boston Review entitled "The Harris Doctrine." First, Emma runs through updates on Jack Smith's newest indictment, Harris' first sitdown interview as Democratic candidate for President, GOP struggles in Georgia and North Carolina, Larry Hogan's gains in Maryland, the Trump campaign, polling, the RFK campaign, Israel's expansion of their genocidal offensive to the West Bank, Biden's heavy-handed pier mishap, Meta, and Nassau County's mask ban, before expanding on Jack Smith's updated Jan 6 indictment and the response from the Trump campaign. Cole Stangler then dives right into a background on France's recent snap elections, called by Emmanuel Macron in the face of the rising popularity of the far-right, resulting in a left-wing plurality in parliament unified by their anti-fascist aims, with the Macronist center-right coalition finishing in second and the far-right in third. From here, Stangler walks through Macron's astonishing decision over the weeks since to take a hardline stance on refusing to name a left-wing prime minister or allowing the establishment of a left-wing government, taking advantage of a lack of constitutional clarity in the period he is allowed to take in naming a successor. After expanding on how this maneuver is ideologically consistent with Macron's politics, Cole explores the overwhelmingly (and unsurprisingly) negative – but productive – response from the French left, unpacking their plan for pushing Macron to fulfill his constitutional duties, before wrapping up with an assessment of what Macron's failure to name a new PM means for the immediate-future of French governance. Emma is then joined by Michael Brenes, who jumps right into the central parallels in his comparison between the infamous Henry Kissinger and Biden's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, touching on their expansive roles in administrations pushing foreign policy projects to maintain and strengthen American primacy with little-to-no moral limit, and walking through the particular role Sullivan has played in advancing Joe Biden's hyper-Zionist agenda despite overwhelming public disapproval. Shifting focus, Brenes then looks to Harris' recently named National Security Advisory, Philip Gordon, unpacking his record as Middle East coordinator in Obama's second administration, including his objections to US interventionism and regime change, stance on Israeli apartheid and Palestinian self-determination, and role in advancing the Iran deal, despite Israel's objections. After expanding on some more problematic (if predictable) elements of Gordon's background, Michael parses through the lines between Harris' critique of Biden's approach to Israel's genocide and real signs of a differing agenda, and why Biden's failures offer important lessons in the contradictions of US primacy and imperialism. And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by RM Brown as they watch Trump call on the Lord to come down and count ballots in California, parse through Tulsi Gabbard's not-so-shocking endorsement of Donald Trump, and listen to Glenn Beck unpack the American Oligarchy. PBD gets some valuable ‘tainment out of Brett Weinstein's cuckoldry at the hands of Elon Musk, and a West Bank settler unpacks colonialism's bad rap, plus, your IMs! This is Frank Gaffney with the Secure Freedom Minute. You wouldn't know it listening to last week's Democratic convention, but we face the serious prospect of a shooting war with Communist China, possibly this fall. The Harris-Biden administration is not talking about that danger – but it may be the ultimate “October Surprise.” Instead, Cabinet officers like National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellin are, respectively, desperately trying to “manage the relationship” diplomatically and financially prop up – read, buy off – Xi Jinping. Meanwhile, the U.S. Navy is inviting war by exhibiting weakness in the face of the CCP's immense naval buildup. The Pentagon just announced that seventeen warships must be sidelined for lack of personnel. Others are being retired prematurely, having maintenance deferred and new construction is woefully inadequate. Promises to “ensure America always has the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world” must be translated into action now. This is Frank Gaffney.

Tonight on The ReidOut, Joy Reid leads with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan sharing the great news that three Americans and one U.S. resident are finally free after the most complex prisoner exchange since the Cold War. Also tonight, remember when people said Donald Trump became a "changed man" after the assassination attempt? Well, now he and his party are apparently firmly back in their comfort zone, ramping up their racist rhetoric against Vice President Kamala Harris. Plus, we examine the fallout from Trump's appearance this week at a conference of Black journalists. Listen now to this edition of The ReidOut on MSNBC.

President Biden focuses his attention on courting black voters while former President Trump remains on trial in Manhattan. Workers at a Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama vote against UAW representation.
On today's show, I use the testimony of Michael Cohen to illustrate a premise I believe is in full-swing here in the United States (and maybe much of the Western world). I titled the episode, “Getting a liar to lie may not be a winning strategy; or, How the Elite live in their groupthink of self-delusion.” Every story I have today falls within that paradigm of lying, ignoring new information, parroting state approved talking points and never thinking critically. Whether it's Michael Cohen testifying about how much he lies, to Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) admitting he was instrumental in prepping Cohen to testify, to National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan telling us that “no president has stood stronger with Israel than Joe Biden,” it's all about manipulation and creating a world of make-believe. Former Press Secretary Jen Psaki had to eat crow and admit she lied in her book, saying Joe Biden never looked at his watch when the bodies of 13 American soldiers were flown back from his disastrous retreat out of Afghanistan. Joe Biden can no longer even read all the words on his teleprompter, but he has no problem telling us he picked Kamala Harris “because he wanted a VP that was smarter than him.” Imagine that comparison. If she is smarter than he is, what does that say about him? And, to demonstrate just how bright she is, her first comment is to tell the crowd to take a seat, yet they are outdoors with no seats in sight, so she cackles as if she meant it as a joke. J oe Biden castigated Donald Trump over tariffs he put on China. Now, Biden is in the awkward position of having to admit Trump's policies were correct, since he just announced tariffs on China. Current DEI hire, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, unsurprisingly, could not explain the shift. Latest numbers of younger voters and black voters are shifting more and more to Donald Trump. Former Green Czar to President Barack Obama and current CNN analyst, Van Jones, was asked if this was a wake-up call to Biden and democrats? Finally, we close with teacher Warren Smith being fired four months after a viral video. The video was a perfect demonstration of getting a student to think for themselves and to learn how to think critically. Naturally, in today's climate, that is a blasphemy that will not be tolerated within the church of the Ivory Tower. After achieving victory in the Cold War against the Soviet Union, US political leadership, starting with the Clinton Administration, has made a continuing string of strategic blunders that have brought the United States to the point where - after building China up for decades - we face an enemy determined to become the new global hegemon and that now possesses equal economic, military and diplomatic resources. To learn how this came about, in this episode Bill talks with James E. Fanell and Bradley A. Thayer, Ph.D, authors of Embracing Communist China: America's Greatest Strategic Failure. Jim Fanell, a retired U.S. Navy captain and the former Director of Intelligence and Information Operations for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, is now a Government Fellow at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. Brad Thayer is an expert in Chinese grand strategies and the history of Chinese and Western strategic thought; and a former visiting fellow at Magdalen College, University of Oxford. “How did China go from an underdeveloped country in 1990 with about 0.6 of 1% of world gross domestic product to over 20% of world GDP today?” asks Brad. “The answer in large part is that the United States aided and abetted the rise of the Chinese Communist Party and kept it in power. That has never happened before in international politics where one state, the dominant state, has funded the rise of an enemy.” U.S. foreign policy toward the People's Republic of China (PRC) has been dominated by the so-called “Engagement School” since the end of the Cold War. They believed that U.S. political and economic engagement with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would transform the PRC into a “responsible stakeholder” in the Western economic system and, ideally a democracy. Of course, none of that happened. Instead, the Engagement School saved the CCP and ensured that the PRC became wealthier and more powerful year-after-year and used that power to re-make the international order to suit the CCP's interests and to threaten U.S. national security, allies, and partners. “Engaging” with China has led to the offshoring of manufacturing jobs, the loss of intellectual property, and making the U.S. energy future dependent on China, just to name a few of our strategic blunders. “We thought we could make China and CCP become more like us, that they would see the value of the being part of a US dominated system created in the post-World War II era. We assumed they would just naturally drift into becoming a liberal democracy. So we didn't fundamentally understand communism. We didn't understand the Chinese Communist Party's commitment to that ideology,” explains Jim. The Trump administration began the difficult task of ending Engagement. However, under Biden, it has now returned in a supercharged form. The Biden “reset” began in earnest in May when CIA Director Nicholas Burns made a secret trip to Beijing to meet with his Chinese counterparts. Then began a cavalcade of visits to the PRC from senior Biden officials: Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Climate Czar John Kerry, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo who was most explicit regarding why nothing could jeopardize the approximately $750 billion per year trade relationship with the PRC. “But the apotheosis of the engagement paradigm was the summit meeting in November between Xi and Biden. The meeting with Biden was just Xi's doormat to get to what really mattered: the meeting with the 400 business leaders,” explain Jim and Brad. “Never in our history have Americans so openly and brazenly celebrated a communist and murderous dictator. It was an appalling and shameful moment in American history.” “The U.S. has little to show in return for all these meetings, except for the loss of face and its own national power—again, year-after-year. It is stunning that so few Americans have asked what good has America received from the Engagement School. The elite have gotten wealthier, so they and the CCP are the winners. But it's the Chinese and American people that bear the costs.”
On Saturday President Biden drew a red line around Hamas' last refuge —in the Gazan city of Rafah— but Wednesday the president's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan blamed the media for creating the “red line.” Former Secretary Gates was right: Joe Biden has never gotten a major national security issue correct. When Gates first said that it was a decade ago. Biden is still striking out, again and again, and the incoherence is deeply troubling.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (02/14/2024): 3:05pm- On Tuesday, a special election was held in New York's 3rd District to fill former U.S. Representative George Santos' vacant Congressional seat. Democrat Tom Suozzi defeated Republican candidate Mazi Pilip 54% to 46%. Nate Cohn of The New York Times writes: “Millions were spent on campaign advertisements, with Democrats outspending Republicans by a wide margin. And unlike with most special elections, Democrats nominated a fairly well-known candidate. Mr. Suozzi, who retired ahead of the 2022 election, had a strong electoral track record, having beaten Mr. Santos here by more than 12 points in 2020… There was even a big snowstorm on Tuesday that may have dampened Republican Election Day turnout (Democrats voted more by mail).” Could this special election be indicative of what will happen during the 2024 presidential election? Cohn continues: “Last week, a Siena College poll…found Mr. Biden running a full nine percentage points behind Mr. Suozzi and trailing Donald J. Trump in the district.” Last year, Santos became the sixth congressman in U.S. history to be expelled from the House of Representatives. The House voted 311 to 114 in favor of removing him following numerous allegations of lying about his background and a 23-count indictment that includes allegations he “repeatedly, without authorization” charged donor credit cards—depositing funds into his own bank account. Though, he has not yet been found guilty of any crimes. The Republican majority in the House will shrink—219 to 213 with 3 vacancies. You can read Cohn's article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/14/upshot/special-election-democrats-new-york.html 3:20pm- Tracey Tully and Benjamin Weiser of The New York Times write: “A luxury Mercedes-Benz, gold bars, exercise equipment and stacks of cash featured prominently in a federal indictment that charged Senator Robert Menendez with accepting a sordid array of bribes. Now, prosecutors say a diamond engagement ring for the senator's future wife, Nadine Menendez, was also part of the elaborate bribery scheme — and a source of infighting between co-defendants who are expected to stand trial together in May. Wael Hana, a longtime friend of Ms. Menendez's who is also charged in the alleged conspiracy, attempted to cheat her out of the full value of the ring, according to court documents filed late Monday by prosecutors in Manhattan.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/13/nyregion/menendez-bribes-ring.html 3:35pm- Karoun Demirjian of The New York Times writes: “The Senate passed a long-awaited foreign aid package for Ukraine and Israel early Tuesday morning, delivering a bipartisan endorsement of the legislation after months of negotiations, dire battlefield warnings and political mudslinging. But the measure faced a buzz saw of opposition in the House, where Republican resistance threatened to kill it. The 70-to-29 vote reflected a critical mass of support in Congress for the $95 billion emergency aid legislation and for continuing to arm Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. The measure would provide an additional $60.1 billion for Kyiv—which would bring the total U.S. investment in the war effort to more than $170 billion—as well as $14.1 billion for Israel's war against Hamas and almost $10 billion for humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including Palestinians in Gaza.” But will Speaker of the House Mike Johnson hold a vote on the bill in the Republican-controlled House? Demirkian explains: “Mr. Johnson controls the floor and right-wing lawmakers have shown a willingness to block legislation they oppose from even coming up for a vote. Still, if proponents can muster enough support from Democrats and mainstream and national security-minded Republicans willing to buck [Donald] Trump and the far right, they could steer around the opposition through a maneuver known as a discharge petition. That allows lawmakers to force legislation to the floor if they can gather the signatures of a majority of the House—218 members—calling for the action.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/12/us/politics/senate-ukraine-aid.html 3:40pm- Lee Habeeb— Newsweek Columnist & Vice President of Content at Salem Media Group—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his latest article, “The Forgotten Man: A 1883 Speech Might Explain the Rise of Trump.” You can read the full article here: https://www.newsweek.com/forgotten-man-1883-speech-might-explain-rise-trump-1867929 4:05pm- During a White House press briefing on Wednesday, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan answered questions about Congressional renewal of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). During the conversation, Musk argued: "This spending does not help Ukraine. Prolonging the war and sacrificing the…youth, having these boys die for nothing is wrong and needs to stop." Senator Johnson echoed a similar sentiment noting, “we all have to understand that Vladimir Putin will not lose this war” as losing would result in him being removed as Russian President. 5:40pm- While appearing on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, sports commentator Bob Costas addressed the growing trend of biological males competing against female athletes—explaining, “we can't throw common sense out the window.”
