The US Women's Soccer Team thrilled the world with their prowess on the field and leadership off of it. Their championship demonstrates the important impact of Title IX in funding and support for women athletics in schools and universities. Beyond soccer, women routinely eclipse male runners during marathons and other sports, pointing to a continuum of physical performance. The ambiguity of gender—as reflected in world class-athletes such as Caster Semenya—led the International Olympic Committee to adopt tests of testosterone levels and college athletic conferences to respond to intersex and trans-athletes. The physical ability and performances of women athletes are blurring historic and gendered divisions between men's and women's sports. Professor Mary Jo Kane will discuss the evolving state of women's sport with Dr. Jamie Feldman, an expert in transgender medicine. Mary Jo Kane is the director emerita of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls and Women in Sport and a Professor in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota. She is widely published on media coverage and women's sport and is a recognized expert on the impact of Title IX. Jamie Feldman, MD, PhD, is faculty in the University of Minnesota's Program in Human Sexuality. She has chaired a Transgender Medicine and Research Committee and published on transgender hormone therapy and primary care.

The basic idea is that the US Women's team is being paid less for the same (or more) viewership as the US Men's soccer team. The official statement was that women's team is making only 40% of what the men's team is paid.   Let's talk about viewers   "The Women's World Cup ratings top Men's 2018 Championship Game by 22%"   Here's the big difference. By big, I mean it is a massive, un-ignorable difference. The 22% win by the Women's team is talking about the viewership in the United States. This year, the Women's Cup garnered almost 15 million TV viewers inside the US. That is, in fact, higher than the US viewers for the 2018 Men's cup. The problem? The Men's US soccer team was not in the 2018 World Cup Championship. Actually, they didn't even qualify for the 2018 World Cup tournament itself. The 2018 Men's World Cup Championship was between France and Croatia. Kate and Meghan are getting along great, and as we’ve seen it’s the brothers, Harry and William, who are feuding. We haven’t seen Harry and William together in a long time and it looks like they’re avoiding each other. Duchess Kate is covering US Magazine with the title “Grace Under Pressure” about how she handled the rumors of her husband cheating. She didn’t say anything about it, which was smart. Kate and William visited a sheep farm together looking matchy and Kate later went to an addiction gala in a fit and flare white dress. Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper broke up: Minutes 8:30 to 14 Chandra mentions that they promoted the breakup like it was a movie. We kept hearing that they were having problems and when the news of the breakup came it wasn’t a surprise. We wonder about Bradley’s relationships because he never seems to be in love. There are rumors that Lady Gaga is the reason why they broke up but that makes no sense to us. They’re not promoting anything and we don’t buy them as a couple. Nicole Kidman takes her cats hiking: Minutes 14 to 15:45 Nicole Kidman has two long-haired fluffy cats, Snow and Ginger, whom she takes hiking with her in a little backpack made for small pets. She talks to them like they’re babies and has posted video of it to Instagram. US Women’s Soccer team criticized for celebrating their wins: Minutes 15:45 to 19 The US Women’s Soccer Team celebrated after every goal when they beat the Thai team in The World Cup, and they were criticized for that. We find that sexist, especially because the US Women’s Soccer Team is fighting for recognition and suing US Soccer for gender discrimination.
