They can also go to our social media pages on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/wipeeverytear, and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/wipeeverytear. Wipe Every Tear started in a high school teacher's classroom. After years of leading basketball and volleyball teams to the Philippines, Kenny's eyes were opened to the nightmare of human-sex trafficking. Having five daughters of his own, his heart broke at the reality that girls were being sold for sex. In 2008, Wipe Every Tear was born, and in 2012 It all began in 2007 where Kenny lead a summer basketball mission team to the Philippines. The following year in 2008 while leading a girl's volleyball team, Kenny's eyes were opened to the nightmare of human-sex trafficking when his heart broke at the reality that girls were being sold for sex. After the 2008 trip he and his wife decided to help one impoverished girl he'd met during that time and they founded Wipe Every Tear. Helping one girl quickly became four, and then many. He entered into the sex trade (the good side!) in 2012. Kenny began with the mindset, “If these girls were my daughters, how would I want someone to treat them and come to their rescue?” Shortly thereafter he left his teaching and coaching career to dedicate all of his time rescuing and restoring girls and women from the sex trade. Their first safe house, called Hope House, was secured in 2012 in partnership with local Filipinos. Wipe Every Tear works closely with local Filipino churches to help women escape the imprisonment of sexual exploitation, providing a new life in Jesus along with formal college education which is a must in the Philippines to even work in the fast food industry. Kenny is passionate for revival and seeing the kingdom of heaven invade the poor, hungry, destitute, and lovely women trapped in the sex trade, believing the presence of God changes everything. Since our inception, many more women have been welcomed into our safe houses where they experience freedom, security, three meals a day, education, and discipleship. Through this simple act of providing a loving home, women's lives are continuing to be restored to this day. We have had the privilege to see the transformation of dozens of young girl's and women's lives, bringing hope, freedom, and a great future in the name of Jesus. Kenny travels one third of his time in the Philippines and also speaks at churches, gatherings, and conferences in the Philippines, America, and other nations. Prior to Wipe Every Tear, Kenny graduated from seminary and pastored two churches. He was a high school teacher and basketball and track and field coach for ma...

In her role, she provides training and technical assistance, develops original resources, and collaborates with partners to enhance the ability of multidisciplinary professionals to recognize and respond to stalking. Julia's work in gender-based violence began more than 15 years ago as a college student, when she worked at a rape crisis center and as a peer health educator. Since then, she has worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, in gender integration in global health with USAID, and to improve how multidisciplinary professionals identify and respond to domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.SPARC (Stalking Prevention, Awareness, & Resource Center) is a federally funded project providing education and resources about the crime of stalking. SPARC aims to enhance the response to stalking by educating the professionals tasked with keeping stalking victims safe and holding offenders accountable. To stay up-to-date on SPARC's resources and offerings, follow us on social media (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter) @FollowUsLegally and/or subscribe to our quarterly newsletter. SPARC does not provide direct services to victims. We recommend that stalking victims work with a local victim advocate, and the Victim Connect hotline can help connect victims with one. Local victim advocates can help plan for safety, discuss legal options, and connect victims with additional services. Victim Connect can be contacted at https://victimconnect.org/ for online messaging and information, and by phone at 1-855-484-2846. Local domestic violence and sexual assault support services/organizations often work with stalking victims/survivors, even when those victimizations are not part of the stalking. On this episode of Taste Buds with Deb, host Debra Eckerling speaks with New York teen Steven Hoffen, founder of Growing Peace Inc. The organization installs hydroponic systems in communities in need, so that they can grow their own fresh produce.    “Growing Peace is really about trying to give back to the world, to my community, and trying to help it out and make the world a better place,” he says. “Whatever little I can do is going to be helpful.”   Hydroponics produces food efficiently and sustainably; plants receive nutrients through nutrient rich water, rather than through soil. It uses 80 to 90 percent less water, uses up less space and doesn't use pesticides or chemicals.   The wheels were set in motion in the summer of 2019. On a trip to Israel, Hoffen visited a non-profit organization, called Sindyanna of Galilee, where Arab and Jewish women work together to try to create peace within their communities through engaging activities. The following summer, Hoffen learned about Sindyanna's hydroponics project and created a film, called “Growing Peace in the Middle East.” This led to him creating Growing Peace Inc.   “Learning about the way that Sindyanna was using hydroponics and growing produce to help people [is] what inspired me to think I could potentially do the same in my own community,” he says.    Hoffen has since installed seven hydroponic systems: one at a food pantry in Tel Aviv and the rest in the New York City area, including systems at Hope House in the Bronx, Edgecombe Residential Treatment Facility, and Queensboro Correctional Facility. Each tower yields a bounty of five to ten pounds of nutritious, organic produce every month. Hoffen volunteers each week at one or two of these communities.    “I do love getting on the ground and helping out to maintain the hydroponic systems, because getting that hands-on experience is what's really fun to me,” he says.   Hoffen shares what led to the launch of Growing Peace, his interest in sustainability, agriculture and food insecurity, and plans for the future. He also talks about his favorite Jewish foods, tips for giving or starting a philanthropy, and more.    “If you're not interested in pursuing something that's super large … try and help out other people who do have their own initiatives,” he says. “Or you can just do something more local, donate to your food pantry, give to charity, tzedakah, that sort of thing.”   He adds, “Whatever you can do and whatever you're capable of, if it seems like it's the right thing to do, it probably is.”   Learn more at GrowingPeaceInc.org and JewishJournal.com/podcasts. Ana is an advocate for domestic violence survivors and believes no person, woman, man, or child, should be someone else's victim. She is proud to support Hope House and victims of domestic violence.Viviana Gutierrez is a Mexican-born immigrant who came to the United States at the age of 5. She is very passionate about working with the Hispanic community, having witnessed domestic violence being dismissed and labeled as “machismo culture.” Fortunately, her parents taught her otherwise. They instilled in her the belief that just because something is considered "normal," it does not make it okay. Viviana now applies this same principle in her efforts to educate the Spanish-speaking community about domestic violence. By joining forces with La Mega, collaborating with existing community partners, and working with local schools, she aims to reach the Spanish-speaking population and provide them with crucial information. Her hope is to empower individuals to leave abusive relationships and seek help when needed.Find La Mega KC on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok: @lamegakc

It is a pleasure to welcome DJ Ashton Martin, one of my longtime friends, back to the Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar platform and, for the first time, to the podcast. Ashton differs from your average DJ in his ability to turn each performance into an epic party. Having grown up in the industry and began his music education at a young age, Ashton captures crowds with an immense music repertoire and high-voltage performances. Quickly mixing effortlessly between musical genres has become a trademark quality, a rare skill set that guarantees crowd excitement.  DJ Ashton Martin has residencies at Kansas City attractions such as Aura, the Fall, Fontaine Hotel, the Scarlet Room, Society, Westport Ale House, and Woodside Pool.  He also had sets at DNVR and the Tivoli in Denver, the McFadden's Social House in Phoenix, and the Crown Room in St. Louis.Ashton has been the official DJ for Sporting KC since 2019 and was the official DJ of the Kansas City Royals from the 2021 to 2023 seasons.
