"Know the answer and apply to the problem!" Yep, you heard that quoted right. In this episode of Portals, our team reverse everything you were taught in school and ask the hard question, "Aware Or Awake...What Are You?" Host Shenaya Annise sits down with our Senior Leadership -- Dr Robyn Kassas, Ps. Tony Kassas, and Ps. Nathan Kassas -- as they dive into these prophetic truths that will help to establish whether you are ware or awake? There are so many truths that are talked about in this episode that we know will blow your mind, but some need to be mentioned again to whet your appetite. Dr Robyn hit's us with the revelation that being awake can only come when you know that Jesus is the answer. Staying true to her prophetic calling to expose religious thinking, she tears apart everything that we were taught in school, especially in math class, by revealing that we should never be looking for the problem to solve for the answer. We have the answer and that is Jesus Christ. If we look to Him as the answer for everything then we can apply that to our problem -- no matter what it is. Dr Robyn carefully reminds us that in our day and age, too many people are aware of the problem but not awake to the answer, and furthermore, are trying to make everything else the answer. Then Dr Robyn and Ps. Nathan talk about the difference from being awake to problems vs. being awake to the answer...Jesus. Ps. Nathan shares important insight about how we can not only be aware about the truth about ourself; we must be awake! It's easy for us to keep our brethren awake to the truth about themselves, but do we apply that to ourselves personally? So many important questions are asked and presented from each person on the team as they take the journey to move you from just being aware to awake to God's Word, Will, and Way. Ultimately, that is Jesus! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/portals/message

Val is the host of So, What Are You??? a podcast dedicated to amplifying voices that are often marginalized. Val facilitates Equity & Justice Workshops across the country, to help professionals, and organizations, embrace inclusive practices. This inclusive lens is reflected in their culturally responsive teaching, equity-based curriculum design, and college service within Equity centered policy change. We discuss: - How her work in racism has changed recently - That Anti-Racism and Intersectional feminism work is imperative regardless of your race or lifestyle. - How we can make our schools more anti-racist. I want to let you know about a special series on the Well Woman show that showcases conversations with black, indigenous and women of color colleagues and friends, and together we explore anti-racism and racial justice - what it means not only in the big picture but how our daily lives are impacted, what we're reading, what we're doing and where we go from here. “I am a father. I chose to have children. I love that fact. I love all my children deeply and furiously and would walk to the end of the earth for any of them, even those that are angry with me. And I've still got some work to do because of my past and all, relationship issues and struggles that have happened but regardless of all that, I love all my children desperately and would do anything for them that was good to help them, have a good and successful life and be happy.” - Kellan Fluckiger Listen to more episodes of Your Ultimate Life: your-ultimate-life-by-kellan-fluckiger.simplecast.comWhat you are about to learnI tackled deeply what is presence in the past I episodes, and for the sake of new listeners to this podcast, let me run quickly and define what is presence for me. Technicality you will say by presence is you are in a room, in a place, your body is in a specific area. But what I mean by this is, not only is your body there at a particular moment but also your mind. That is, you focus at present. You are not thinking of something else or someone else. Your focus is contact at that specific scenario where presently you’re at. Undivided attention. Presence to what you are - Continuing awareness affect the role you have on your current situation, life beingness, energetic context, and all that stuff. So here's what I mean. Let's use a straightforward example. I am a father. I chose to have children. I love that fact. I love all my children deeply, even those that are angry with me. And I've still got some work to do because of my past, relationship issues and struggles that have happened that are outlined in Tight Rope of Depression, that book that I wrote but regardless of all that, I love All my children desperately, and I would do anything for them that was good to help them, have a good and prosperous life and be happy. But here's the thing I could choose, and so can you at any time not continue in those roles? So I may biologically still be a father, but I could decide not to do that. You could disavow those roles. Or you could stop functioning in those roles, or deny any of the responsibilities that belong to those roles. Now, that's obvious. Everybody knows you could do that. But here's what my point is. We do it anyway. We do it all the time. We might not realize it, but we do that unconsciously. And here's how that happens. We move from having actively chosen to be a parent, for example, to say things like, well, I had no choice when presented with a circumstance that involved fulfilling that role. How? By unconsciously moving away from the role and a minimization of the commitment that you made. And so when we're present to the roles that we have chosen voluntarily, it means to embrace them fully, to reaffirm and recommit willingly. If you promise your child that you will go to a soccer game and then thought, “I don’t have a choice, I need to because he is my son.” And then the spirit of your heart isn't there. Now that isn't any different from your body, being present in a chair when you're thinking about meditating. However, your mind furiously occupied with a meeting that happened yesterday, or something that needs to happen tomorrow or a problem you need to fix or looking at your watch and saying, how come this isn't over yet, or whatever, or sitting in a church bench and not worshiping you're not there your mind is somewhere else or some planets. You are in a role, but in your mind, your awareness is not there. As stated in the previous example, you are disavowing unknowingly the role you are at by being not present or by not portraying the character because your mind isn’t there. And again, to choose, we have delegated the choice that we made once to a secondary position, and it is lower now on the totem pole, more moderate in priority, lower on the responsibility ladder. And it is now accompanied by some regret some resentment and some negativity. So when we talk about being present, being present to the roles means to be aware of but reaffirming those roles and not resentful. Key Takeaways“I would suggest that the second layer of being present is being present to what you are, which includes intentionally and fully reaffirming at every moment, the responsibilities, obligations, opportunities, and blessings of all the roles that you currently have, and that you took upon and take upon yourself. If you do that, and you reaffirm those on purpose, and you make that part of how you show up every minute of every day, all the time.” “You always have a choice. You have a choice. Every time you breathe, every time you open your mouth, every time you act. What you're saying, what I'm saying. If we say that, the consequences of exercising a different choice would be unpleasant would be difficult, would be a struggle over. If I ended this relationship, it would be a problem, and then it would go through all that. So you're saying I'd rather stay in it grudgingly, then change my circumstance. Well, that's not ownership of your life. And that indeed not being present to the roles that at one point, you lovingly, kindly, gently, willingly volunteered to, and jumped into.”Hopeful Resources for you: Please check my book: Tight Rope of Depression  on amazon   Connect with Kellan on your favorite platforms:Facebook: www.facebook.com/kellan.fluckiger3YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/ultimatelifeformulaLinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/kellanfluckigerTwitter:  https://twitter.com/kellanfluckigerYou can find out more about Kellan and how he can help you achieve your ultimate life by checking out his website.Subscribe to the podcast on Apple, Spotify, Google Podcasts, iHeartRADIO, or anywhere else you listen to your podcasts. If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on  Apple Podcasts

An archerfish, pew pew pew: A regular roly poly and a spiky yellow woodlouse. Can you spot which is which?? A nightjar. Turn out light pls, is too bright: A white-winged nightjar showing off his wings: Show transcript: Welcome to Strange Animals Podcast. I’m your host, Kate Shaw. I’m really, really behind in getting to suggestions, as you will probably know if you have sent in a suggestion and you think I’ve forgotten all about it. So before the end of the year, which is coming up frighteningly fast, I’m going to try to get to a lot of the older suggestions. So this week we’re going to learn about a fish, an invertebrate, and a bird. We’ll start with the archerfish, suggested by Dylan and Genevieve, who are part of the What Are You? Podcast. If you don’t already listen to What Are You?, I really recommend it. It’s a new animal podcast that’s especially for younger kids. If you like Cool Facts About Animals, you’ll like What Are You? Anyway, Dylan and Genevieve both really like the archerfish, so let’s find out why it’s such a weird and interesting fish. The archerfish isn’t one fish, it’s a family of fish who all catch insects in an unusual way. Most archerfish species are small, maybe 7 inches at the most, or 18 cm, but the largescale archerfish can sometimes grow up to 16 inches long, or 40 cm. All archerfish live in Asia or Australia, especially southeast Asia. They like rivers and streams, sometimes ponds, and a few species live in mangrove swamps and the mouths of rivers where the water is brackish. That means it’s saltier than ordinary fresh water but not as salty as the ocean. The reason the archerfish is so weird is the way it catches insects. Think about its name for a minute. Archer-fish. Hmm. An archer is someone who uses a bow and arrow, but obviously the archerfish doesn’t have arms and hands so it can’t shoot tiny arrows at insects. But it can shoot water at insects, and that’s exactly what it does. The archerfish has really good eyesight, and it learns to compensate for the way light refracts when it passes from air to water. When it sees an insect or other small animal, maybe a spider sitting on a branch above its stream, it rises to the surface but only far enough so that its mouth is above water. Then it forms its tongue and mouth to make a sort of channel for the water to pass through. Then it contracts its gill covers, which shoots a stream of water out of its mouth. But because it shapes it mouth in a really specific way, the stream of water turns into a blob as it flies through the air, like a tiny water bullet. The water hits the spider, which falls from its branch and into the stream, where the archerfish slurps it up. But the archerfish has to learn how to aim. Young archerfish aren’t very good at it, and they have to practice to shoot accurately and far. They can even learn by watching other archerfish shooting water, which is rare among all animals but practically unheard-of in fish. Sometimes the archerfish will shoot underwater, sending out a jet of water instead of a bullet. It does this mostly to expose small animals hidden in the silt at the bottom of a pond or stream. And sometimes, of course, if the insect is close enough to the surface of the water, the archerfish will just jump up and grab it. The archerfish shoots water with a force that’s actually six times stronger than its muscles would allow, and it does this by taking advantage of natural water dynamics. This means it uses a lot less energy to shoot water than if it was only using its muscles, and it gets a better result. It can shoot water up to ten feet away, or three meters, to bring down an insect or other small animal,

Welcome to Episode 25 of Thought Cops! This week, we run out of things to talk about and end up auditorily describing different memes. I'm not kidding. Just a few weeks ago we criticized a rival podcast for being unlistenable, but it didn't hit too long for us to hit that same point. Next episode we might start talking about our horoscopes. Load up 21 times, because I'm getting too dayumn old for this. This week we take down all the people that are ruining America, which is everybody. But more specifically, Trent Reznor, The Emoji Movie, TJ Miller, Pokemon Go, Nintendo, and Patreon. And all this time you thought it was Communism. Should Trent Reznor be able to voice criticism, no matter how abrasive, against the leader of the free world? No. Straight to Room 101 for reeducation. Good thing we got that out of the way. Next. Should TJ Miller be able to say that women aren't funny, and though we might find offense in the sentiment and disagree to varying levels, is that not his god-given right to the freedom of speech that's protected by the 1st Amendment of the United States Constitution? NO. STRAIGHT TO ROOM 101 FOR REEDUCATION. FUCK YOU, TJ MILLER. GET AN ADULT'S FIRST NAME, STOP GOING BY "TJ." WHAT ARE YOU, FIVE? WHAT DO YOU DO, RIDE AROUND ON A TRICYCLE, WEARING ONE OF THOSE SPINNY PROPELLER HATS, CARRYING A BIG LOLLIPOP? FIND A REAL FIRST NAME YOU FUCKING DINGUS. Pokemon Go Fest was this previous weekend, and it turned out exactly how you would imagine the company that made Pokemon Go would handle it. Jake Paul is also in the news for being a big douchebag. If you're compelled to look up who that is, before you do, don't. You'll thank me later. The Emoji Movie exists. So that's something, right. Right? Also, Patreon cancelled someone named Lauren Southern's account, for the crime of threatening, or taking action that could, according to Patreon's terms of service, "potentially cause harm or the loss of life" freedom of speech. I know that usually if you're helping supply money to someone who's using it in potentially dangerous and/or unlawful situations that there's the possibility to become implicated in whatever crime it is that they're committing, but you know, fuck it. Whatever, it's a free country. I'll link to a video of the CEO of Patreon trying to defend his decision, but be warned, his voice is kind of annoying. Not that ours aren't though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmcK6GvgVPs Who the fuck does this guy think he is, telling people about the decisions of a private enterprise that nobody is obligated to use. Hope he's PREPARED TO BE FUCKED BY THE LONG DICK OF THE LAW. THIS WEEK, ON THOUGHT COPS!!!

This episode is sponsored by Infinite Twist and Fix-a-Stitch!    Knitting Segments   Show-Ready Knits   Pure Joy by Joji Locatelli I bought the Argentine yarn from Pura Hilados   This brings my Stash Dash total to 1, 124 yards or 1027.8 meters.   I became curious about why some shawl patterns use a garter tab for the starting point, so I did a little research. Check out this blog post at Kelbourne Woolens about garter tabs.   This got me to thinking: how have I gotten away this long without doing a garter tab? What is something in knitting that you can't believe you have never done before? Join in the discussion on the Episode 54 thread on Ravelry!   Stash Dash is a Summer KAL hosted by the Knit Girllls video podcast!      Knits in Rehearsal Worsted Boxy by Joji Locatelli Yarn is Miss Babs Yowza in Oyster   Thank goodness for my Strauch Ball Winder!      Rainbow Vanilla Socks in White Birch Fiber Arts   I'm using the OMG Heel pattern by Megan Williams   Hey Lady Hey is doing a Solidarity Craft-a-long to show support for the victims and families of the mass shooting in Orlando Florida.    This episode of Actually Knitting is sponsored by Infinite Twist. Still looking for that perfect project for the PalKal? Infinite Twist has teamed up with Jan Hamby from the TwinSet Designs Podcast to create a stunning gradient kit for Jan's latest shawl design, Gradient Angles. Using the same foundation as a mitered square, this delightful shawl flies off the needles!" The prize: A Gradient Angles kit, including Jan's pattern, all the hand-dyed yarn you'll need to complete the project, a bamboo circular needle, stitch markers, yarn needle, two-color pattern marking pencil, and a handy gauge card.   Enter "PalKal" as your secret code and get a free pair of 50 gram miniskeins with your order! Auditioning Knits I am thinking about casting on the Solaris Shawl by Melanie Berg with my Pal Kal Mini Kit from One Twisted Tree.    By the way, if you like Melanie Berg then stay tuned for a fun KAL.    Also will be casting on some socks with my Twist Fiber Studio Fairview Fingering Yarn that I purchased last fall. Not sure about the pattern, but likely something from Susie White of the Prairie Girls Knit and Spin podcast.   I will house this project in a Fat Squirrel bag which was gifted to me by Sarah Shoo of the Cultivate and Create podcast.    Knitting News, Notes and Events If you hear this episode on or around June 15th, 2016, go to the Ravelry thread for a special Pal Kal Mini Kit giveaway.    PalKal2016 officially begins on June 15th!   Rules:  The basic idea is to support a podcaster you listen to or watch by knitting one of their patterns and/or using their yarns for your project. You can also use a project bag or stitch marker by a podcaster! The design, yarn/fiber and/or project bag must be from a knitting/crochet/fiber podcaster. (Not all 3, just one of those to qualify). Spinning also counts, just make sure it’s a finished product. Use the chatter thread for discussion. Make suggestions. There are TONS of podcasts out there and almost no one knows about all of them, so if you know of a podcaster designer/yarnie/bag maker, feel free to share with us! You are encouraged to take advantage of the coupon codes offered by our sponsors, but you are not limited to those podcasters for the KAL. Sponsors and coupon codes are listed in the appropriate threads and will be listed on the podcast as well. Please post finished objects in the non-chatter thread and include a link to the podcaster you are supporting. Enter as many projects as you like! There is no minimum yardage requirement or limit to the projects you can enter. If you use more than one podcaster product/design/bag/etc on one project, you may create multiple entries for that project. For example: Knit the Zigzagular Socks by prairiegirlsusie using yarn by Oh! Loops and use a project bag by thefatsquirrel, you can enter that project into the FO thread 3 separate times, just link to each podcaster seperately in each post. A note about project bags: a project bag may only be entered into the contest one time for an entry. (You can’t just keep using a podcaster project bag over and over and entering the contest that way). The same applies for stitch markers. Wips count! Just finish them between June 15 and September 15, 2016. You must be a member of the Actually Knitting Podcast Group to win. Have fun supporting a podcaster designer or yarnie! Please support as many different podcasts as you can! Please do not chatter in the non-chatter thread. It makes it more difficult to draw a winner! Use the tag PALKAL2016 here on Ravelry and #palkal2016 on Instagram. Feel free to double, triple, quadruple dip! This week I have highlighted our Featured Performers and Top Billing Sponsors. Mormon Quotes - A Short Faithful Devotional Podcast

I once hear the book “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” quoted in a church setting. I have very serious critiques of this book, but I think that one thing which comes up when gender is discussed is the idea that we are different from each other. The descriptions that are usually…Read more What Are You Thinking?
