Kenny and Mark celebrate the return of the power ballad with Boy Culture himself (and author of the essential Encyclopedia Madonnica) Matthew Rettenmund! Topics include: nepo babies, Celine Dion, potential cover albums, illegal downloads, the value of spite, Jason Derulo, My Two Dads, vocal “edging”, lyrical warnings and promises, bringing a golf club to an apocalypse, Stevie Nicks, Terrence Howard, Ariana Grande, mature dance breaks, resistant industry tides, Taylor Swift, the Ellen residency, Andy Cohen and Sandra Bernhard, and Matt makes a strong case for Rebel Heart as the ultimate embarrassment of riches. Plus, Matt shares the inspiration behind Encyclopedia Madonnica, his evolving embrace (and flexibility) of the fandom ride, rejecting the binge mentality, and another encounter with the legendary (and witty) Liz Rosenberg. “I don't want to focus on the hair."Matthew Rettenmund's BoyCulture website & blog
If you grew up watching TV in the 80s, you may have noticed that there was a preponderance of… if not shows about orphans specifically then similar shows where the care of children was entrusted to people who weren't their parents and maybe didn't know how to raise kids. We're talking Diff'rent Strokes, Rags to Riches, Punky Brewster, Webster and Gimme a Break, but also The Facts of Life, Charles in Charge, My Two Dads, Full House, My Sister Sam, Silver Spoons, The Hogan Family and more. Sure, a lot of factors could explain these absent parents, but what if we told you there was a single patient zero for this whole trend? Because Drew thinks there is one, and its history stretches back to the 19th century. Links to previous episodes mentioned in this one: Gimme a Break Meets Yet Another 80s Orphan Gimme a Break Transformed Into a Lesbian Perfect Strangers Backdoor Pilots: Diff'rent Strokes Spins Mrs. Garrett into Facts of Life Weirdest Episode Ever: Day by Day Has a Very Brady Nightmare Superstore Is Queerer Than You Think And if you want to watch the video version of the Seinfeld addiction/cashmere examination at the end of this episode, click here.
“The Family in Question” (May 9, 1988) It might seem like a joke today, that a show called My Two Dads is about two very hetero bachelors. But don't let that stop you from appreciating My Two Dads for being a smarter, funnier version of Full House. They debuted the same week, and unlike Full House, My Two Dads actually acknowledges that gay people exist. In this episode, the judge who awarded them custody of their daughter is persecuted in the press as being an activist judicial who is changing the definition of a family. For his role in Mad About You, Reiser earned nominations for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Reiser has also appeared in movies like Aliens and the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, and more recently, in the Netflix series Stranger Things and Amazon Prime's The Boys. Comedy Central has ranked Paul Reiser as the 77th greatest stand-up comedian of all time. He has also established himself as a bestselling author, with such books as Couplehood and Babyhood. We all know Paul Reiser from his work on such series as "My Two Dads" and "Mad About You", and movies like "Aliens" and "Beverly Hills Cop"...but some forget he started his career as a stand up comedian...and it's that experience that has helped him become an amazing storyteller...from telling the story of a fighting family in his new film "The Problem With People" to helping music legend Michael McDonald's tell his life story in his new biography...and we got to talk to Paul about it all this morning.
Taking care of dad for our Father's Day episode! We start this episode with a brief history of how Father's Day began. Did you know this holiday is not much older than a century? In fact, Father's Day was introduced in 1910. Naturally, it was a response to Mother's Day and soon became associated with retail and commerce. You will learn even more in this episode. Shawn and Leah discuss their fathers. They each have dads, fathers-in-law, as well as stepfathers. Shawn talks about being a father and a step-father. An important aspect of this discussion is their feelings towards these dads. What happened to the step-dads in their lives? Taking care of dad is a major part of the episode. Both Shawn and Leah's fathers are in their 70s. Age brings many things with it, including loss of ability, forgetfulness and wounded pride. Imparting their wisdom also becomes important as dads age. Shawn must help his dad do the things he once took for granted. Leah is helping her father move closer to his wife. Pop Culture and Dads! Robot and Frank, Darth Vader, Family Law, the dads of Disney, Full House, Steven Speilberg's take on dads, Family Ties, Roseanne, Who's The Boss?, Glee, My Two Dads, Modern Family, and Three Men and a Baby. No one wants your stuff! When a dad passes on, what happens to their things? A brief discussion on what to do with all the stuff left behind. Who wants what, and where does it go? There was so much weird stuff going on in some of our favorite 80s TV shows and this episode is gonna shine a little light on some of my favorite questionable choices exposing a few of my favorite things that make you go hmmm... We'll start with The A-Team's willy nilly approach to remaining incognito, and ALF having complete freedom to roam the house. We'll also get frisky while discussing Al Bundy's libido and the big Boner on Growing Pains. Let's not forget the bastard daughter on My Two Dads and the #smartiestoowhite approach to education on Head of the Class. We'll wrap things up by questioning the awful life choices of Jesse and Joey on the most edgeless show of all time, Full House. So, pull up a chair and crack a beer cuz this shit is gonna be fun.

The year was 1987 and comedies about multiple straight men raising children together and acting domestic was all the rage! That year saw the movie Three Men and a Baby, the start of Full House…but wait, there was one more lesser known show to hit the airwaves: My Two Dads! Starring Paul Reiser and Greg Evigan as the two dads, and Staci Keanan as the daughter who enters their lives by surprise at the age of 12. Her mother passed away and left her to the care of these two men in her will, because one of them is the biological father—but nobody knows which one. Oh, and the judge who presided over allowing this to actually happen also becomes their landlord. How about those Chieeeefs!? If you're not a Chiefs fan, you'll have to excuse our excitement but we only discuss for a few minutes. *Two men show up at school to pick up their daughter. The only problem is that they're trying to pick up the same girl and neither man has ever seen the other until now. Chaos ensues. *Speaking of two dads, what was the premise for that My Two Dads show in the '80s? Did they ever figure out which one was her dad? And why was the custody judge constantly checking in on them personally? Is that how they used to do things? *Doomscrolling!! A school in Virginia had to close because over half the kids and staff have the flu and experts say it's coming for all of us. The teacher who was accused of leaving the door open at Uvalde is speaking out. The Astros and the Phillies are going to the World Series. *A 14-year-old girl stole $13,500 in cash from her grandmother's safe and handed it out to kids at school. Would you take cash from a 14-year-old? *Things annoying people say. We don't manage to make it through the whole list but I promise "There's a lot to unpack here" was near the top. *Lazlo asked to speak to the manager this weekend? I gotta know what led to this. *Thanks for listening to the podcast! Please subscribe and rate and do all that stuff because it helps us a lot. Also go to www.lazlo.church to follow us on our socials, grab a shirt, and chat with us on our subreddit after hours. Have a great day! -Everbody Wang Chung!!!

Boy Meets World is the coming of age story about a boy named Cory Matthews. A young boy from Philadelphia who has the misfortune of living next door to his teacher. Show creator Michael Jacobs already had a string of success after developing such hit shows as, My Two Dads, Charles In Charge, and Dinosaurs. For his next show he wanted to be able to created a show from the perspective of the middle child of the family, where nearly every other show would focus on the parents or oldest sibling. He also wanted to do so in a way that didn't talk down to kids so much. From this the "Untitled Ben Savage Project was born. After a few early cast changes and a more suitable name for the show Boy Meets World premiered on ABC's TGIF lineup and remained there throughout its entire 7 season run. Did this pilot about a young boy who just wanted to go to the Phillies game with his older brother knock it out of the park? Listen as the S1E1 guys take a deep dive and find out. www.S1E1POD.com

Warm up that formula and practice your diapering skills as we doo-wop our way into Leonard Nimoy's (YUP) surprise blockbuster Three Men and a Baby. Did every 80s comedy have to involve drug dealers in some bizarre way? With the release of this movie, My Two Dads, and Full House, was 1987 the year of the Daddy fetish? How little plot do you need to hold together a movie that is otherwise nothing but fun montages? And how many rooms does this Manhattan apartment-share have?? We might be able to give you some answers if we weren't so distracted by Tom Selleck's powerful thighs. Part 2 Acomi rants to Turk182 about the Marvel Comics movie memes depicting Iron Man (Tony Stark) and Captain America (Steve Rogers) as a couple, with Spider-Man (Peter Parker) as their adopted son. With no real reason, or implication, "people" online have mashed these three Marvel characters together in a sort of My Two Dads meets Family Circus. What infuriates Acomi even more is how these memes and poorly created stories strip the away the true nature of the characters to fit there unwarranted fantasy. Tony, is the stern but loving father that no longer dislikes being touched or handed things, or has a desire to protect the world; just his little spider-baby. Steve, is the hunky, doting, matron that thinks Tony should go easy on the boy. Gone is the stalwart sentinel of liberty and symbol of all things righteous. And, Peter, isn't the boy genius who fights to do what's right and believes that "with great power comes great responsibility. Now, he's a whiny, little, brat that can't take care of himself and needs "daddy Tony" to wipe his nose and his butt. Listen on True Believer as Acomi goes HAM on these people harder than Peter Porker. Rages more than Bruce Banner singing a duet with Zack de la Rocha. More confusing than Binary announcing she's non-binary. #OMTWF #Acomi #Turk182 #KorovaEntertainment #IronMan #Spiderman #CaptainAmerica #spiderbaby #FamilyCircus #memes #badinternet Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. We're barreling into 2022 headfirst by getting weird and potentially offending people. January is here, so we're celebrating with a new theme, ‘New Year, Oldest Profession.' It's going to be a whole month where we talk about movies that feature sex workers, which is bound to get uncomfortable and give us bountiful opportunities to stumble into strange asides we'll likely regret later. First up, we're discussing a piece of Roger Corman schlock about a cop who needs to go undercover as a stripper to catch a serial killer. It's the chick from BREEZY and the dude who wasn't Paul Reiser in MY TWO DADS in 1987's STRIPPED TO KILL!
Our ten-part celebration of the 80s brings us back to 1987 this week. For most of us, 1987 means Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise... and that's all. But the year had even more to offer, if you poke around enough. So first we take a quick look at the Billboard chart from this week in 1987, and find more questions than answers: Did Diane Warren write every hit song in the 1980s, or just most of them? Who had better hair, Richard Marx or the guy from Europe? And can most of society's ills be blamed on Starship? Then we examine the TV shows that debuted in 1987, and it's quite a list. Some long-running shows got started, such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Full House, and Married... with Children. (The entire Fox Network started this year, actually, including those crude early Simpsons shorts...) Then there's the short-lived weird stuff: Max Headroom, My Two Dads, Beauty and the Beast, The Charmings, Out of This World (this is the one with the alien girl, not the robot girl), Roomies (Burt Young and Corey Haim, together at last), The Highwayman (Flash Gordon as a futuristic trucker), She's the Sheriff (Suzanne Somers as... you know), and lots more. Next week we'll be back from Atlanta to report on every crazy thing that happened at DragonCon. Meanwhile, enjoy 1987. Say hi to Debbie and Tiffany for us. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are here for the May edition of their TV retrospectives, joined by a special guest, Editor-in-Chief Bill Bodkin. This month they’re talking about Dinosaurs, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. Dinosaurs first premiered April 26, 1991 on ABC, where it ran for four seasons. While the true series finale aired in July, the show finished out of order and ended its 65-episode run in syndication on October 19, 1994. Created by Michael Jacobs and Bob Young, Dinosaurs is a family sitcom featuring actors dressed up as anthropomorphic dinosaurs. The TV show utilizes animatronics and puppetry by The Jim Henson Company. Dinosaurs follows the life of Earl (Stuart Pankin, Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Fran Sinclair (Jessica Walter, Arrested Development), a suburban couple raising a family in 60,000,003 BC on the continent of Pangaea. Earl and Fran have three children, Robbie (Jason Willinger, A Goofy Movie), Charlene (Sally Struthers, All in the Family), and Baby Sinclair (Kevin Clash, Sesame Street). Fran’s mother, Ethyl (Florence Stanley, My Two Dads), lives with them as well. Despite its absurd premise, Dinosaurs occasionally tackles important social issues, such as women’s rights, environmentalism, and racism. In addition to an Emmy nomination for Editing for a Single Camera Production and a win for Best Art Direction, the series received a Television Critics Association Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Children’s Programming and won three Environmental Media Awards for TV Comedy. Josh, Aaron, and Bill look back at their time watching Dinosaurs before diving into the series premiere and the show as a whole. Topics include how the show compares to other sitcoms of the era, the work by The Jim Henson Company, and the show’s take on topical issues. You can listen to Josh and Aaron’s podcast on another Jim Henson property, Muppet Treasure Island. Dinosaurs is streaming on Disney+. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

September 1987 was a hallmark month for 80s kids, thanks to the television premieres of Duck Tales, Full House, and My Two Dads; the emergence of teen pop icons Tiffany and Debbie Gibson; and the publication of arguably the first Very Special Episode of the Baby-sitters Club series, Claudia and Mean Janine. Brooke and Kaykay discuss all of this, as well as the most haunting images from the Guinness Book of World Records and the mortal danger of messing with your sibling's Scrabble score.Visit us at our website, and follow us on:FacebookTwitterInstagramSpotify

Retro AIOTM #17 - Back to the end of June 2010 for more retro AIOTM and loads more motorcycle clothing shops. If you’re enjoying these crazy steps back in time then you can become a monthly badger here or link you Amazon Prime and Twitch Prime accounts and give us money at no cost to yourself - watch this video to find out howAs It Occurs To Me: Series 2, Episode 7: It's the penultimate episode of Season 2 and the whole country is reeling from the worst spectacle they have witnessed in years, the motorcycle clothing shop sketch. Is there any way back for us now? And is the way back to just keep doing the same sketch until people realise it is a new zenith of comedy? We've moved to the Bloomsbury Theatre because we think we're Virginia Woolf. Emma's been unable to use her new iPhone 4, Dan, who is half German has been praying for England to lose at football (so blame him) and Christian has been signing boobs because he is rock and also roll. We pull out the stops to annoy Bob Rudge and take a leaf out of the book of the lazy writers of My Two Dads. Blah blah blah Tiny Andrew Blah and we meet the odd daughter and dad from the Vodaphone adverts and eat the crumbs from out of God's kitchen bin, and what's going on with the high-backed armchair? It's repetitious and relies on stupid comedy voices and Rich has become everything he hates. But come in and join us, the cumpkins are lovely. And there's some stuff about football too. This week, host Gray Jones interviews veteran producer Shawn Ryan, who has created or co-created a number of series, including The Shield, The Chicago Code, Last Resort, Timeless, and his current series SWAT. This episode is sponsored by Pilar Alessandra of onthepage.tv. Pilar is offering a 10% discount to TV Writer Podcast viewers. To get your 10% off, contact Pilar through her website and mention the podcast. Shawn Ryan started out writing and acting in plays. He won the prestigious Norman Lear Playwriting Award, which included an opportunity to come to Los Angeles and observe the TV series My Two Dads. One of his pitches got turned into an episode for the series, and he knew he wanted to write for TV! But it would be several years of hard work, honing his craft and writing over a dozen spec scripts, before he finally got his first staff gig on Nash Bridges. Shawn is a learner, and a very hard worker. He has many helpful stories to tell about how he learned his craft, and how he learned to be his own worst critic. You'll love hearing how he came to create and run The Shield when he had very little production experience, and how he learned to create and co-create so many successful series. Timeless fans will be especially excited to hear about how he co-created that show with Eric Kripke, the love he has for the show and the fans, and how hopeful he is for future continuation of the story. INDEX TO THE EPISODE: 1:22 - Interview start, overview of creating and helping to create and run shows in a competitive industry. 3:24 - How has COVID-19 affected him? 7:18 - Back at the beginning, how did winning the Normal Lear Playwriting Award help launch his career? Discusses theater and playwriting, then going to Hollywood to observe My Two Dads as part of the award, and starting to pitch ideas on the show. 10:56 - Harder times after that show, getting days jobs and learning to increase his work ethic. Was a clever writer, but needed to learn the craft of being a deep writer. 12:28 - Wrote 16-17 spec scripts… talks about the 3 most important factors in breaking in. 14:53 - His first staff gig on Nash Bridges, after writing freelance episodes of Life with Louie. 16:54 - How the years of struggle are important for a writer. 19:23 - How not getting hired on Buffy the Vampire Slayer was actually better for his career — describes this training ground on Nash Bridges with Carlton Cuse and John Worth in detail, and working on Angel. Learning to become valuable to a show by being a story machine. 25:31 - How The Shield was born out of a spec pilot he had written… how he didn't have much production experience but was open about what he didn't know and relied on good people around him to succeed. Lots of detail about building this show for the new FX Network. 37:44 - The next few years, successfully developing many projects, working on The Unit with David Mamet, Mad Dogs. Getting excited about projects. 41:48 - Sponsor messages. 43:02 - All about co-creating Timeless with Eric Kirpke, and running that show. How he loves history, and the book The People's History was a great resource for stories. How amazed he is by the fans, and how he is hopeful about the show's future. 51:27 - How he feels about Peak TV as a show creator. Will TV decline the way movies did? 54:22 - Advice to younger writers, and to people trying to break in. How he asked to read a spec that was getting that writer work, and studied it. This one is really great about the strong ingroup/outgroup perspective of television and how it feeds an action/methodical work paradigm that eventually makes the main characters the infallible, victory-through-action doers of things that are morally flawless and beset by inferiors. But certainly, there's no cultural consequence of that being pumped over the airwaves for decades. Certainly. Apparently, Denise Crosby is Bing Crosby's granddaughter, but that's a whole capital-“T” Thing. Night Court did not have a spin-off, though it shared two characters–Bailiff “Bull” Shannon and Judge Margaret W. Wilbur (played by Florence Stanley)–with “My Two Dads.”

This is the last weekend of August 2018… Sorry, didn’t mean to bum you out, but teachers are feeling that one especially! Back to the classroom for teachers and students soon enough (you can quietly hear the excitement of parents everywhere!). ‘THE BIG DEAL’ who joined the show back on Ep. 012, is back with a pretty gnarly story about her grandfather dying, and the aftermath with the obituary. Speaking of Dads, Candace’s Dad calls the DAVE Line, and Dave’s second Dad is coming for a visit to Winnipeg this weekend! If you wanted to check out the Smashing Pumpkins live show online TODAY, here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MiiSGFXx7E, it goes live at 10:15PM CDT. I catch up with Greg Evigan, who starred in BJ and the Bear and My Two Dads. Greg tells me how he got involved in the business and which popular 80’s show he turned down. Not only is Greg a talented actor but he’s also a talented musician, having sung the theme song to both shows. He recently collaborated with Chromeo on their latest album. We talk the cult classic, DeepStar Six and working with William Shatner on TekWar. Talent runs in the Evigan family, as his daughters have acted and his son is a successful music producer/songwriter.
This is a Power Couple. Both Vanessa and Miles are huge forces in their own right. Vanessa is an actress (she was "Brittany Hodges" on "The Young and the Restless," plus so many movies, and TV shows). She is is also an incredible jewelry designer. Vanessa comes from a large entertainment family: her dad starred in "My Two Dads," her mother was a Broadway Dancer and her Brother is a hit Songwriter and Producer. Vanessa has talent oozing through her veins. And she is even more beautiful on the inside than outside. Miles is a staple in Nashville for his Emotional Wellness Retreat Center "Onsite." At "Onsite," he leads people to personal healing. Miles says "Onsite to me more than a therapeutic retreat center, a personal growth center, therapy center, all these things that people can label us, but the truth is, we're a safe place where people can land, relax, take whatever armor they've had on for so long to make themselves feel safe from the world, and just lay it down. We're a place that helps people connect to WHO THEY ARE, so they can go back into the world and connect to other people." WOW. Miles also just launched "Unspoken Podcast" with the incredible Ruthie Lindsey, covering all of these real issues. Vanessa and Miles are also the parents to a precious child, Maverick, and they are so honest about parenting, marriage, and all the ups and downs that happened in their relationship. They share with me how they keep their marriage strong, and why they don't ever claim to be perfect. This interview is ESSENTIAL if you interested healing yourself, and having healthy relationships. JUST ONE TIME I’D LIKE TO SEE EVERYONE SMILE, I GUESS IT WON’T HAPPEN, NOT FOR A WHILE Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water…you realised that you’d only just finished eating quite a stodgy lunch and if you went for a swim there’d be a good chance that you’d get a jolly nasty stitch. At best you’d have a very uncomfortable swim, at worst things could get dicey. Oh and there’s a f*ck off great big shark in there with a grudge. Might want to give that one a swerve. You lucky lucky people. You get not one, but TWO goshdurned podcasts today! Firstly there’s the SILENCE! section. Just good old Gary Lactus and The Beast Must Die shooting the breeze. Terrible shots they are though so once again the breeze gets away free. Plus – who’s that there? A very special new guest… My Two Dads – the comic A review of the Defenders? Sort of… A sideways jaunt into the Reviewniverse, dealing with Mister Miracle and Joe Matt’s Peep Show. Plus Squirrel Girl (spoiler = he liked it, it was good) Then, for part two you get a bonus new podcast Walker’s Crisps, aka Trisps aka In The Bag, wherein Gary Lactus and special US guest Michael Walker eat crisps together. For humanity’s soul. YOU WANNA GET INTO IT BOY! @silencepod @frasergeesin @thebeastmustdie @bobsymindless @kellykanayama silencepodcast@gmail.com You can support us using Patreon if you like.

I was nervous to meet Stefanie Fair. She's a gorgeous, successful, talented mama of four who's been in the entertainment business since she was a young girl. Truthfully, I was a little afraid she'd think I'm a total dork and I sooooo wanted her to think I'm cool. But when she came into my home and greeted me with the warmest hug ever, I new within minutes we would be friends. She was warm, funny, and very open about her experiences with motherhood and music and all of my nerves quickly disappeared. Stefanie has a unique perspective on the biz. She's a former child star with credits like The Golden Girls, My Two Dads, Punky Brewster and Blossom. She was also 1/3 of the 90's pop group Wild Orchid with Stacy Ferguson (Fergie!) and Renee Sandstrom. And she totally upped the awesome ante when she told me she toured with all those 90's boy bands like 98 Degrees, 'N Sync and The Backstreet Boys. Um, hi, my teen years called and they would like to swap lives with you. Wild Orchid: Stefanie Fair (left) Stacy Ferguson (center) Renee Sandstrom (right) But despite being surrounded by so many singers who would go on to become huge stars, Stefanie admits Wild Orchid never quite reached the level of stardom she had hoped. Call it the nature of the music biz, or just bad luck, but these women worked their butts off and still struggled to get record deals. She also tells me stories about going on tour and being grateful there was no social media at the time to document their every move. Could you imagine if Instagram existed when you were a teen? I die. She also recently starred in Bravo's There Goes The Motherhood about an exclusive mommy support group for Hollywood moms. I asked her about the backlash she received after the door locking situation blew up on TGTM. She came under fire after admitting on the show that she locks her kids doors at night when they go to bed. You'll have to hear the explanation for yourself. Let's just say, not everything is as it appears on reality TV and I love that she lifts the veil for us. We also discussed: Her transition from child actress to pop music star What it was like working with Fergie when she was known as Stacy Ferguson Why she chose having a family instead of pursuing music full time What projects she has coming up next What she thinks about the state of music today How she "keeps it hot" for her husband and why she thinks it's necessary Her love for songwriting The Fair Family I think my favorite part of getting to know Stefanie is seeing how much she clearly adores her four kids and the family she and her husband, mega music producer Ron Fair, have created. And despite the allure and glamour of the music business, she's a pretty typical mom. She takes her kids to school, has play dates, and swim parties just like the rest of us and looks amazing doing it. Mom goals, people. Mom goals. You can follow Stefanie on Instagram here, or on Twitter here. And don't forget to subscribe to Motherhood in Hollywood on iTunes and leave a review!

Actor Greg Evigan—best known as the star of the hit TV shows B.J. and the Bear and My Two Dads—has an intimate conversation with Bob & Suzanne that reveals a singular talent and a genuine commitment for all things “showbiz”. B.J. and the Bear: stardom! Greg shares his experiences as a fledgling actor and singer auditioning for Broadway’s Jesus Christ Superstar while still in high school. He talks about “heading to Hollywood” to make it as an actor, only to find the struggle frustrating and creatively unrewarding. You’ll hear about the day he had his car packed up, ready to hit the road and head back home, when he got a fateful call from a casting director who pleaded with him to go on just one last audition. Maybe it was because he had practically given up “caring” about Hollywood, but that off-the-cuff persona of his won him the role of “B.J. McKay” in what would become a major NBC-TV series watched by millions of viewers every week, B.J. and the Bear. Greg Evigan soon found himself becoming an international “teen idol” and an in-demand actor with all the unpredictable realities faced by anyone seeking a career in Hollywood. A consummate musician and vocalist, Greg wrote and performed the hit TV show theme songs for My Two Dads, P.S. I Luv U, and B.J. and the Bear. Throughout the podcast, you’ll hear cuts of Greg singing You Can Count on Me, Talk to Me, and Slow Down. Greg Evigan remains a genuine “leading man” with an active performing and recording career. You’ll find inspiration and wisdom as he tells a candid tale of navigating a dynamic Hollywood career landscape. It's a great story you won’t want to miss!

Kornflake's renovation plans involve an Atari 2600 and a hammock; it's National "Blossom" Day, but we're more interested in "My Two Dads" and "Gimme a Break"; we compare weddings and science fiction conventions (because sometimes it's hard to tell the difference); Kornflake attends an a capella concert that includes a lollipop thief and a rumble; cartoonist Whit Taylor teaches us how to mess with ice cream shop employees; and being total 80s geeks, we're ridiculously excited about "Here Comes the Reign Again," a compilation album of new wave cover songs. Look, maybe you've moved on, but some of us never got over Duran Duran.
Michael Jacobs' first foray into TV was a home run with creation of the iconic '80s series Charles in Charge, and he didn't stop there, as he went on to create some of the most recognizable series in the 1980s and 1990s: My Two Dads, The Torkelsons, Dinosaurs, and Boy Meets World. It's the penultimate episode of Season 2 and the whole country is reeling from the worst spectacle they have witnessed in years, the motorcycle clothing shop sketch.
Greg and Rob discuss: Listener audio (The Transformers theme song by GMT in Brooklyn), Uno, VH-1's I Love Toys, The Godfather video game, an International Federation of Competitive Eating update (www.ifoce.com), celebrity deaths (Kirby Puckett, Peter Tomarken, and Slobodan Milosevic), old sitcoms (Empty Nest, ALF, and My Two Dads), Max Wright, The Old Jingle of the Episode (Tootsie Roll commercial), Tina Turner, and another interview with the fake Sean Connery. 24 minutes - www.paunchstevenson.com
