For the first and only time this season, It Happened One Year is doing a fabled Road Episode - this time the show's first from outside the country! Recorded Christmastime in the Notting Hill area of London, England, Sarah & Joe tackle the coincidentally Chicago-set Sidney Sheldon thriller 1984 adaptation The Naked Face, starring Roger Moore, Rod Steiger, Elliott Gould, Art Carney, Anne Archer, and Navy Pier, baby! Come for the breakdown of the melodramatics - touching quickly on Roger Moore's career and life, with appearances by Scaramanga himself Christopher Lee, Harry & Sally, the local Tesco - and wrap up with some truly mediocre impressions. Look, it was a recorded on a long vacation at the end of a long day, it was bound to be a little odd, even by IHOY standards.
On Christmas morning, Anne Archer decided to go for a swim. Suddenly she was caught in a rip tide, and found herself face-to-face with a shark racing towards her. In that moment, her heart racing, Anne said a little prayer... "God, please lift me up out of these waters." Suddenly she was not only lifted up, but magically transported back to shore at lightening speed!!! There she saw her miracles...5 dolphins had come to her rescue. Circling her and touching her, she was transformed that day into something more. Anne Archer tells her amazing story, and the changed life she has lived ever since. This is an astounding episode of surrender, simple miracles, and God's presence in our everyday lives. ABOUT ANNE ARCHER: Anne Archer Butcher has lived an extraordinary life. Best-selling author. International speaker. Book editor and video producer. But her awareness in healing began when she was swept out to sea by a rip tide and rescued by dolphins from a shark attack. The dolphins not only carried her to shore, but they took turns touching her—and she believes they miraculously changed her vibration that day and helped open the door to a big shift in her life. She has since been on a journey that has taught her some extraordinary lessons about how this vibratory universe really works—even in the face of major challenges! https://www.michelledanner.comwww.allinfilms.com Instagram michelledannerla There aren't many people who can point to a career full of success as a performer, teacher, storyteller, entrepreneur, and expert. But Michelle Danner can. The legendary acting teacher and founder of the Creative Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, Danner is also now well-established as a successful film director. Her last film,“Miranda's Victim,” stars Abigail Breslin, Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe, Emily VanCamp, Mireille Enos, Enrique Murciano, Brent Sexton, Josh Bowman, Sebastian Quinn, Taryn Manning, Nolan Gould, Dan Lauria, Kyle MacLachlan, Andy Garcia and Donald Sutherland. The film tells the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin) who was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda. The subsequent trials went all the way to the Supreme Court and led to creation of the Miranda Rights. Up next for Danner is the comedy romance film “The Italians,” which stars Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters), Rob Estes (Silk Stalkings), Perrey Reeves (Entourage), David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverly Place), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows), Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Little Miss Sunshine). The film is currently playing at festivals around the country. A dedicated mom of two (one is an aspiring filmmaker), Danner still has her “day job” – overseeing the faculty of the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, and conducting her weekly acting class. Michelle has worked privately with Christian Slater, Salma Hayek, Gerard Butler, Seth MacFarlane, Penelope Cruz, Chris Rock, Gabrielle Union, Zooey Deschanel, Henry Cavill, Isla Fisher and James Franco. A longtime student of legendary acting teachers like Stella Adler and Uta Hagen, Danner's eclectic approach (which she calls “The Golden Box”) allows actors the freedom to employ a wide variety of techniques. Raised in a show business family and with a deep appreciation for all of the performing arts, Danner also continues to run the boutique “Cinema at the Edge” film festival and is currently preparing to direct a new one-person play, Bonnie Culver's “Norris,” starring Anne Archer, based on the memoirs of the widow of writer Norman Mailer. Simply put, there's almost no one in the business who knows as much about acting and success as Michelle Danner – and her continued success in multiple creative fields makes her one of the most successful women working in the industry today. A steamy, intense, and totally idiosyncratic series for September as Jeannine takes Morgan through the world of Michael Douglas; featuring a couple of really BIG movies! The craziness begins this week with one of Douglas' most revered movies and the one which started the Erotic Thriller boom, Adrian Lyne's FATAL ATTRACTION (1987)! Welcome to the 4th episode of our Trilogies series. We hope you enjoyed our last episode where we looked at The Dollars Trilogy from Sergio Leone. On this episode, we look back at some favourites from our childhood that we watched quite a bit on VHS. We are going to be looking at the original Jack Ryan trilogy that consists of The Hunt For Red October, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger that starred Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan. The main character created by thriller author Tom Clancy who appeared in multiple books by the author. The three early Jack Ryan films were seminal thrillers of the early to mid 90s. Proper Dad thrillers. Fun and memorable films with excellent all star casts that included actors such as Sean Connery, Sam Neill, Tim Curry, James Earl Jones, Scott Glenn, Fred Thompson, Sean Bean and Anne Archer. All three films are well directed by directors who understood the action and thriller genres: John McTiernan and Phillip Noyce. There's always some political and spy intrigue in these films plus some good action. We hope you continue to enjoy this new Trilogies Series we're doing and we also hope you enjoy this episode. Alden was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma after discovering a lump near his jaw. Despite the grim prognosis, he and his partner, Anne, decided against traditional surgery due to the severe side effects and minimal hope offered by their doctors. Instead, they sought alternative treatments, inspired by their past success in dealing with their daughter's mercury poisoning through unconventional means. They consulted various holistic practitioners and adopted a regimen that included positive thinking, love, gratitude, and the use of a vibrational healing machine called the monocore device. Over the course of ten weeks, Alden's tumors completely disappeared, much to the astonishment of his doctors. When Alden returned to his surgeon for a follow-up, the doctor was shocked and admitted he had never seen anything like it. Alden and Anne explained their approach, which included neuroplasticity, herbal supplements, and the monocore device, though the medical professionals found it difficult to comprehend. The head of oncology research at the university was particularly intrigued, noting that Alden's overall health had improved significantly. Despite her enthusiasm and the remarkable results, she acknowledged that implementing such unconventional methods in mainstream medicine would require extensive study and time, highlighting the challenges of integrating alternative treatments into traditional medical practices. After all the tests were done, the doctors were astounded, declaring that he was no longer a cancer patient and didn't need to return. Despite their reassurances, we couldn't help but question if he was truly cancer-free. However, we decided to trust the results and move forward, though we waited a few years before sharing our experience widely. We wanted to ensure that the healing was real and lasting, especially considering the initial severity of his diagnosis and the fact that the cancer had metastasized.During this period, we remained cautious, wondering if the cancer might reappear elsewhere. Even the surgeon from Harvard, Dr. California, acknowledged that while the parotid gland had been compromised, there was no cancer left in the lymph nodes. He was surprised to find no cancer cells, a rarity even in healthy individuals. This thorough process confirmed that the alternative treatments we pursued were effective, reinforcing our decision to continue with our approach. The surgeon, exhausted but impressed, admitted that our methods were more effective than conventional treatments could have been.Diagnosis and Prognosis: Alden was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma, with doctors initially giving him a prognosis of only two months to live due to the aggressive nature of the cancer and lack of effective treatment options.Alternative Healing Approach: Alden and his partner chose to pursue alternative treatments, including sending love to the cancer cells, using a vibrational healing machine (monocore), and applying principles of positive thinking and gratitude. They also incorporated nutritional supplements and holistic practices into their regimen.Remarkable Recovery: After approximately ten weeks of following their alternative healing methods, Alden's tumors completely disappeared, surprising medical professionals who had never seen such a recovery. Their approach combined spiritual practices, alternative therapies, and lifestyle changes, resulting in not only the elimination of cancer but also an overall improvement in Alden's health.Cancer-Free Diagnosis and Surgery: Despite being declared cancer-free after several tests, there were still concerns about metastasis. The surgeon recommended removing the compromised parotid gland and surrounding lymph nodes. After a lengthy and nerve-wracking surgery, it was confirmed that no cancerous cells remained in the lymph nodes, validating the success of their treatment.Monocore Treatment for Malaria and Heart Issues: Recurring malaria that conventional treatments couldn't cure. After using the Monocore machine, the malaria was eradicated, and subsequent health issues, including a severe heart problem, were also successfully managed with Monocore treatments. The machine was credited with balancing the body's energy and aiding the immune system.Frequency-Based Healing and Personal Impact: The Monocore machine works by detecting imbalances in the body and providing corrective frequencies to restore health. It was used to treat various conditions, including depression and anxiety. The narrator and their family experienced significant health improvements, leading to increased energy and well-being, emphasizing the effectiveness of frequency-based healing.----Check out more with Anne and Alden: https://fivebluerings.org/authors/----Grab my book A Better Way to Treat Cancer: A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Preventing and Most Effectively Treating Our Biggest Health Threat - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM1KKD9X?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860 ----Integrative Cancer Solutions was created to instill hope and empowerment. This week we are experiencing some technical difficulties because Apple absolutely wrecked my audio set-up with an unnecessary OS update that doesn't seem to have made anything better. That's beside the point, but I did want to apologize off the hop. Anyway. The Hunt For The American James Bond continues both in our hearts and on the show, as we dip our toes into the chilly waters of Lake Jack Ryan one last time with 1994's Clear and Present Danger, directed once again by Phillip Noyce, based on the book by Tom Clancy, and starring Harrison Ford, Willem Dafoe, Joaquim de Almeida, Henry Czerny, Harris Yulin, Donald Moffat, Miguel Sandoval, Benjamin Bratt, Anne Archer, Thora Birch and James Earl Jones. Patriot Games set the bar pretty low, and this movie comfortably clears it. But it doesn't hit the heights of Hunt For Red October either, leaving us with a somewhat satisfying if not overly long political thriller about drug cartels and American intelligence. There's room to have fun there if you're willing to acknowledge how skeezy the CIA actually is, but perhaps we weren't there yet in '94. Other works discussed in this episode include Poor Things, The Holdovers, Edge of Tomorrow, Top Gun: Maverick, The Flash, and 24. Plus, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One gets renamed for streaming. This is the third ADHD-DVD film with a Steven Zaillian writing credit. The previous were Mission: Impossible and Gangs of New York. If you'd like to watch the film along with us, good luck! It is not available for streaming in Canada, but is rentable on YouTube. We'll be back next week to wrap up the month with a third consecutive Phillip Noyce movie, the admittedly very goofy Val Kilmer vehile The Saint (1997) that is also sadly not available for streaming in Canada. We'll be joined by gifted improviser (and J Mo's childhood friend) Mica Prazak to discuss whether it deserves to be added to the canon, or loaded into a cannon. Until then, see you at the movies!!
This week as a schismatic sect is caught tunnelling underground in New York, we're dealing with a schismatic sect of the Irish variety, intent on burying themselves in pursuit killing of Jack Ryan. Yes, the hunt for the American James Bond continues with 1992's Patriot Games, directed by Phillip Noyce, and starring Harrison Ford, Sean Bean, Anne Archer, Thora Birch, Patrick Bergin, Samuel L. Jackson, Polly Walker, James Earl Jones and Richard Harris. Yes Alec Baldwin has been turfed from the franchise, replaced by the man Paramount always wanted in the role from the start, and Ford does a great job of lending Jack gravity that Baldwin simply can't offer. Unfortunately, the movie around him only gets worse as it goes along, ending with a final reel that feels cut on from a different movie altogether. Meanwhile, Hayley's hyperfocused on the Golden Globes and the start of Awards Season, while Justin's getting deep into Percy Jackson & The Olympians. Other works discussed in this episode include Akeelah and the Bee, No Clue, Bottle Rocket, Foe, The Thing, Cape Fear, Spotlight, Prisoners and Zodiac among others. If you'd like to watch the film before listening to us talk about it, and this week we don't really recommend it, you can find it streaming on Paramount+ at the time of publication. We'll be back next week to wrap up our foray into the Tom Clancy-verse with 1994's Clear and Present Danger, as Harrison Ford becomes the only actor in the history of the franchise who got to play Jack Ryan twice on the big screen. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!

The city was draped in Noirvember's shroud, and Not a Bomb was the beacon in this murky storm. In sauntered Sophia from the Moviestruck podcast, a siren with a penchant for unraveling tales buried in shadows. Deception, detectives as sharp as whiskey, dames with allure as lethal as a bullet, thugs with a dime-a-dozen sneer, and the haunting symphony of trains set the stage for our rendezvous. We were all set for a tango in the darkness, dissecting two classics that echoed through time, a clash of eras bathed in secrets. '90s Narrow Margin and its '52 predecessor, The Narrow Margin, each holding court in their own epoch. The former—a flop, a silver screen misfire, while the latter—a darling of the Academy, embraced universally by critics. But here's the kicker, dear listeners: will our novice sleuths echo the choir of critics or dance to a newer tune? Will they find solace in the nostalgic embrace of '52 or dare to crave the thrill of something fresher?Take a seat, for this discourse will have your nerves as taut as a piano wire. The air was thick with anticipation, charged with the essence of unraveling mysteries, secrets, and the palpable taste of suspense. Not a Bomb was ready to detonate the truth behind these cinematic enigmas, and Sophia was our guiding light through the labyrinth of twists and turns. Buckle up, for this discussion was set to be a ride along the edges of your seat, a thrill that Noirvember couldn't contain.Narrow Margin is directed by Peter Hyams and stars Gene Hackman, Anne Archer, James B. Sikking, J.T. Walsh and M. Emmet Walsh. The Narrow Margin is directed by Richard Fleischer and stars Charles McGraw, Marie Windsor and Jacqueline White.Make sure to check out Sophia over at the Moviestruck Podcast and drop her a review! It's Die Hard in the war on drugs! For this very special episode, Phil and Liam are joined by a VERY special guest: actor, writer, director, comic book author, renaissance man and podcasting superstar PAUL SCHEER! That's right, the effervescent host of top film podcasts Unspooled and How Do This Get Made? chartered a helicopter and flew in to join Phil and Liam for an intensive analysis of this mid--90s classic! The film's complex plot is thus: after a close friend is murdered by international drug traffickers, the vengeful US President (Donald Moffet) tacitly instructs his National Security team to launch a series of secret military strikes against the parties deemed responsible. Soon the new CIA deputy director Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) discovers himself to be an unwitting pawn in a covert, illegal war between American paramilitary forces and the Colombian drug cartels. As the carnage escalates, Ryan must find a way to quell the bloodshed and expose the corruption at the heart of his own government. CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER is the third entry in the Jack Ryan film franchise that started with THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER. That particular movie was of course directed by DIE HARD helmer John McTiernan, meaning that there is plenty of ‘DIE HARD DNA' in the mix here…but does this motion picture also share some key similarities with Christopher Nolan's OPPENHEIMER? The guys assess its influences and its legacy, while also wrestling with another burning question: is this the ultimate ‘Dad movie'? Paul talks passionately about his deep and long-standing connection with DIE HARD and his youthful love for all things Bruce Willis, and the guys go deep on the film's eclectic creative contributors, that includes personalities such as Tom Clancy, Harrison Ford, Philip Noyce, John Milius and Steven Zaillian. They also discuss the virtues of an outstanding ensemble cast that features the likes of Willem Dafoe, James Earl Jones, Anne Archer, Thora Birch, Joaquim de Almeida, Henry Czerny, Harris Yulin, Raymond Cruz, Benjamin Bratt and Miguel Sandoval. Paul even discusses the part he'd most love to play! The stacked cast makes for a particularly entertaining edition of the ‘Die Hard Oscars', and a tantalizing trivia quiz provides some stimulating brain-teasers…along with a warm and fuzzy moment or two. This highly entertaining episode is not to be missed - how DARE YOU not listen to it?! CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER trailer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuYb6ZNQaZoAt the time of release, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER is streaming on Paramount + and is available to rent of buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple/iTunes, YouTube, Vudu, Redbox, Direct TV, AMC and all the usual platforms.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/die-hard-on-a-blank/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

TVC 612.5: Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Anne Archer (Fatal Attraction, Patriot Games, Short Cuts, Clear and Present Danger) talks to Ed about her approach to playing such larger-than-life characters and figures as Mrs. Robinson in the London stage production of The Graduate, Jane Fonda (in the one-woman show The Trial of Jane Fonda), and, most recently, Norris Church Mailer (the sixth and last wife of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Norman Mailer) in A Ticket to the Circus, and why Norris is probably the closest to Anne personally of all the characters she has played on stage, film, and television. Hide your bunnies and guard your kids from ghosted lovers as we delve deep into the psyche of the 1987 film Fatal Attraction. Who do we blame for Glenn Close's horrendous hair style in that opening party scene? Did Anne Archer portray the perfect wife or a one-sided non-character? (Either way, she didn't deserve to be done so dirty.) Would this movie have aged better if it had been released with its original ending? And perhaps most importantly, why were 80s audiences so invested in Michael Douglas's dong? We struggle for answers, through the pain of animal cruelty trauma.

The RSB Show 5-14-23 - A Sunday Conversation with Special Guest Anne Archer – Spiritual Awakenings and Near Death Experiences
It's Die Hard in a political thriller! This time Phil and Liam dig into the IRA-themed action movie PATRIOT GAMES (1992), the Jack Ryan sequel that Die Hard director John McTiernan was originally supposed to make with Alec Baldwin in the lead role. But fate – and Harrison Ford – had other ideas! While this expansive, globe-trotting political thriller may not bare much resemblance to Die Hard on face value, there's still a surprisingly high amount of ‘Die Hard DNA' for the boys to examine with their movie microscopes. This pulsating Paramount picture is also notable for being one of the first mainstream Hollywood action movies to tackle complex and contemporaneous political events: the troubles in Ireland. It's a particularly important episode for Liam, who has a deep and long-standing connection to this movie and its iconic leading man, Harrison Ford - whose acting style and body of work is discussed in significant detail. The film's stellar supporting cast - that includes such luminaries as Anne Archer, Sean Bean, Thora Birch, Samuel L. Jackson and James Earl Jones - also gives the guys plenty to chew over, along with the dense literary source material, i.e. Tom Clancy's 1987 novel of the same name. But despite the heavy subject matter, there's still plenty of opportunity for games of a more light-hearted nature. As always, the show culminates with the ‘Die Hard Oscars' and the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz, which now also features the ever-popular ‘Convoluted Corner'! PATRIOT GAMES TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq26pM6Om-A At the time of release, PATRIOT GAMES is streaming for free on Paramount + and through Amazon Prime Video, MGM +, Showtime, Fubo and the History Channel vault. Welcome to “Not Couple Goals” where co-hosts Allie Nelson and Tyler McCarthy do a deep dive into a different ridiculous romantic thriller from the vantage point of their long-term relationship. Allie, a TV writer/producer and actress, has an affinity for romantic thrillers, the more salacious the better. Tyler, an entertainment reporter and critic, often finds himself drawn in despite his better judgment. Join them as they explore all the ways it's possible to love too hard… like WAY too hard. In this episode, Allie and Tyler are joined by returning guests Rin Olsson and Rebecca Ringley of the “Ladies Get Action” podcast. Together they do a deep dive into the seminal romantic thriller, “Fatal Attraction” (1987) starring Glenn Close, Michael Douglas and Anne Archer. Just in time for the TV remake, the gang revisits the “Is Douglas Zaddy?” debate, ponders who the true villain is and unpacks the (better?) alternate ending. Anne has led a spiritually adventurous life. She was rescued by dolphins from a shark attack, survived a Near-Death Experience, and had an out-of-body journey that revealed the true nature of death and allowed her to save her sister's life. https://fivebluerings.org/
Trackdown is a movie that has Eric Estrada in it. One time, Todd saw Eric Estrada's personal locker at a cigar store in Studio City. But that's not at all what Jason and Todd talk about while watching this movie that has Anne Archer in it, they've got to talk about people with the last name Sidaris and socio-political issues they clearly don't fully understand while still finding reasons to ALMOST yell at each other about. But they don't quite yell. That's probably a disappointment, isn't it?
It's DIE HARD on a train! This time Phil and Liam discuss NARROW MARGIN (1990), Peter Hyams' highly underrated action-thriller remake starring Gene Hackman and Anne Archer. They talk about the differences and similarities to the original 1952 film noir, the Hitchcockian echoes, and the myriad of subtle Die Hard influences upon this highly suspenseful picture, that earns its place among a grand tradition of train movies. The lads also talk about their affection for the stellar supporting cast, including the two Walshes (M. Emmet and J.T. respectively), Harris Yulin, and James B. Sikking, as well as the ways that this film influenced subsequent action movies such as SPEED, UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY (Eric Bogosian forever) and UNSTOPPABLE. The trivia section goes off the rails (get it?), but the ‘Die Hard Oscars' soon bring things back on track (but do you get it?). So take your assigned seat, grab a 7&7 from the café car, and enjoy the ride! NARROW MARGIN trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzIjCZfa1Ec At the time of release, NARROW MARGIN is available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, iTunes, YouTube and VuDu Fandango. An excellent Blu-ray is also available, featuring two commentaries, one by writer/director/cinematographer Peter Hyams, and one by film critic Peter Tonguette.
