The Success Deception: Media's Misunderstandings Made Clear

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 10, 2023 53:50

Our whole lives, we are taught about success as if it can be predicted with math. If we just work hard enough. If we just know enough. If we are just good enough. We can guarantee victory. That lie governs most of the behaviors I see in modern people. We've known for centuries that this isn't true. But, with a media industry run by get-rich-quick cowards who also know that the human animal is addicted to listening to storytellers....And here we are...In a world where everyone is chasing success. But only a few people ever find it because most people chasing it and talking about it wouldn't know what it was if it bit them on the nose. Support the show

Former Soldier Relates to Tom Brady's Struggle

Tom Brady retired today. I had recorded this podcast hoping to upload it next year while Tom was playing. I thought it may provide him and listeners with an empathetic ear from a man who's been a few tough places. I pray this helps you develop as humans and as leaders in your world!#KeepKillingAbbreviated Transcript from the showI think the best way I can illustrate this is with a short story about an experience I had talking to a a soldier at the end of his like illustrious career. So this guy is a ranger, you know, tabbed out, you know, a bad mofo...So I had an instructor at the ranger school reach out to me a couple of years ago and he just asked me, he's like, can I just ask you a couple questions about civilian life? I said, always if I have time to give to a veteran or a military service member who needs my help, you have, what can I do for you? And he's like, I just want to know, you know, he was in the seven, he was getting ready to process out of the army is getting ready to retire. And so he asks me be like, I dipped my toe in the pool of the civilian world and these were his words and I'm paraphrasing, but he said something to the effect of is it is bad out there as it seems or as it smells to me. And my response was, it's 1000 times worse jump in. It's 1000 times worse than you think it is jump in.Let me qualify the statement. What is he asking me? I've had some interactions with civilians. I didn't really like those interactions much because I saw very quickly that my values and their values professionally are not the same thing doesn't make them bad people and be a good person or vice versa, just different. And I can see there's going to be conflict down the road and he sees correctly what tom brady is going to find as much like my ranger instructor buddy from the army is that tom brady is not only crazy. Crazily talented, he's also crazily driven and he has an off the planet work ethic. What does that sound like to you? Every single soldier who's ever been able to wear the uniform has to be that person to succeed, especially if you're a soldier who lasts long enough to retire. You have to be a tom brady character to do that. It's hard. Army life is not easy. Military life is not easy, right? And so what I'm telling him is worse is not, oh civilians are evil, You're gonna hate them all. No, you're gonna be used to working at a level that no civilians do because they don't have to in their job. Nobody dies at the end of the day if they screw up, right? And and and what a lot of people seem to think is veterans. We come to think we're better than other people because we've been through harder stuff. No, we signed up to do that hard stuff that doesn't make us better people. That makes us we kept our word and we did. That makes us, if anything, just people of integrity that keep our word, just because I've been through something harder than you, doesn't make me a better person. Because if I don't turn my hardship into something positive for another human, my hardship was worthless, right? So don't get it in your head that we think we're better than you. We just understand that we have a different work ethic and a different value ethic. And the way that we approach work, stereotypically, there are civilians that operate exactly like soldiersIt is Darwinian in the army. You either lead progress and become more awesome or we put you out on the street, there's no job like that. Most people I know are looking for shortcuts not like and what I teach my people in my spartan says there is no easy life. So if you're looking for that, don't call me looking for mentorship because there isn't one right? Support the show

Would you be OK if I used today's Podcast to just tell you a brief story that happened to me yesterday something that really touched my heart and I think if we really capture is pure the soul of this experience yesterday and yesterday and we can find a way to it too inspired this type of thinking this type of feeling in this type of behavior in other people other people I really think we have a shot here as I always say on my show to create a better humanity man one that's less depressed 1 that's less anxious and upset about so many things 1 that can focus on the good and see the good and things see the positive in things certainly there's a lot of bad going on out here but as you guys know our brains what we focus our brains on our brains are like us Satellite dish and I don't know if you guys know that or have been taught that because it sounds conceptually implausible and it sounds kind of hyperspirational but it actually is not I can actually backed this up with a decent amount of science do we know everything about the brain no we know very little but what we do know we can use to help us and if we can our brains are like a satellite what we focus on becomes our reality not because of some hyper spirituality right but because of because some hyper now spirituality spiritual right books but teach us because you had very wise people a long time ago in human history because humans studied humans instead of studying things So they knew this when they wrote these things in spiritual books today it sounds crazy because we don't spend time observing people the way these people from our 10000 years ago past had the time to do but our brains whatever we focus our attention on that eventually becomes our reality but why well because when we focus our subconscious brain I'm going to oversimplify this just to not make the explanation go deep into a bunch of neuroscience that I probably can't explain anyway but the bottom line is when you begin to focus on something let's let's make that practical you talk constantly constantly about about a her frustration that you have in your life that focus is going to cause you to only be able to see that frustration And you're gonna be much more heightened in your awareness of this thing you're gonna see it more often because you've programmed and primed your brain to pay attention for it because it's caused you emotional to rest as it doesn't have to be hyper spiritual what you focus on eventually becomes your reality because your focus affects your behavior and then you start having habitual behaviors that happen sometimes at a subconscious level and I think it's Charlie mungler a warm buffet that say the chains of habit are often too weak to be felt until they're too strong to be broken so the story I want to share with you today is going to address that if we get this positivity thing right I don't mean being positive as spin or trying to make something that is inherently negative into positive I'm talking about taking all things on this planet and making them into something positive It's alright you're with me so today's Podcast is brought to you by Warriors and I'm super excited to be able to say that on a Podcast righthat on a Podcast right to be able to say this show was sponsored by because it's not sponsored by some BS company that I reached out to because I needed to fund the Podcast is sponsored by Warriors because it's a company that I have the honor to own a portion of so when I'm telling you this show was sponsored by Warriors I am giving you something that is mine and I'm really proud of it so if you want to sleep better and you want to wake up with less anxiety go to warriors.com use the promo code Spartan...Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

I'm glad you stopped by got a quick update for you before we jump into the meat of today's discussion. A couple of updates actually about what's going on here with the podcast. As always, I would love to hear your feedback on it. Today's podcast is the pilot for something that I'm calling morning meditations and that's the first update I have for you. So while I've been uh here at the cabin on vacation, some of you have seen the cabin on tick top with my family as the cabin we escaped to. I've had time to really sit with my thoughts and and dig into some of the deeper recesses of my ego and my dark side. It really starts to face the parts of myself that I don't like so much and in doing that, when you commit to doing that type of work on self development, you discover things that are very useful for you and as I'm discovering them, I think are useful for me and as I discovered them, I want to pass them on. So this is the pilot episode two morning meditations and think of it like this, Marcus really is the emperor in Rome In Rome. Uh The roman empire, caesar Kaiser. However you want to say it. He wrote a book called meditations. Well at least that's what they called the book. I don't think he wrote a book called meditations. I think he wrote down a lot of stuff and they turned it into a book. Mhm. But that's a really powerful book from a guy that did a lot of things and had a lot of insight because of his, his good side, his dark side, his evil. This was a person who was very self reflective and outwardly looking into the world in a way where he could break things down at a surface level and make them useful for other human beings and that's something that I'm working to do myself. So think of this the this part of our podcast series as my version of Marcus releases meditations. Now, mind will at times, because this is my morning meditations be very narcissistic and self serving. That's why I put that in the title so that, you know, I'm gonna be talking a lot about myself. But the point behind it isn't just to be a narcissist who likes to talk about himself in front of other people. Cause honestly I don't uh what I do like to do is pass on information that I'm finding about myself that's helpful for other people because believe it or not, I hate doing self promotion more than anybody else on this planet. Like I don't mind when other people self promote because I I'm a live and let live guy, I don't have an issue with you doing it. But me personally, in my world and my ethics promoting myself, I hate doing it and I really don't know why I'm not bad at it, I've learned how to do it over the years, I just don't like doing it, so I don't want this to come across as just a dude who had a bunch of shit on his mind and wanted to event at you for an hour and a half. That's not what this is about. These are intended to be shorter meditations, me thinking hard through things that I'm experiencing. In fact, today's episode is going to be about uh an inadvertent altercation that I had with my mother. That's that's part of the topic. It's a very small part because we move into other things after that. But me and my mom had gotten into an altercation that was just based on a miscommunication. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

Today, Bryant destroys the most deceitful fear that keeps all of us from the success and happiness that we rightfully deserve. Show Transcript:greetings programs and welcome back to the brian chambers movement. It's been a minute since we've had the chance to rap and I wanted to fix that. Still recovering from surgery. I'm starting to get the full feeling back in my whole hand now. I still have a little bit of numbness in my thumb. No longer wearing a cast though. I got that off yesterday, so we're starting to get better. I'm actually out here from my first uh easy day workout after surgery. That's not true. I worked out the day of surgery full of anesthesia, doing a cut the hike short, I think only one a mile and a half. But I was like, I gotta walk and my body is, my brain is going fucking nuts. I gotta get out there on the trail. So I did. It's funny. I had a comment on one of my videos talking about the surgery. The lady saying, just make sure I know you have to work out, but no workout today. Actually brought her back. I got tic tac toe and was like, hey, I already worked out. She was like a maniac. Like I told you all that nobody should be surprised. But that's not exactly what I wanted to circle the wagons with you today. I want to circle the wagons with you because I want to encourage you about something very specific. Uh, and it's something that everybody encounters it myself included. It made me think of you specifically in that most of the people that I'm helping, especially in the business world and in the artist world and the warriors out there. Kind of my demographic of folks, each of us and I'm gonna say us because I'm not unique. I'm a struggle differently. I may struggle to less of a degree, but I'm still in there. Each of us struggles with subconscious parts of us thinking and worrying that we may not be enough to accomplish the mission. God is what is here to do. So the encouragement of this message today, I'm gonna give you the spoiler alert, I'm gonna give you the end of the movie before the end and then we'll go on the journey. You are enough. Now, that doesn't mean you're not going to need help. That doesn't mean you're not gonna need people on your team and a tribe and others looking out for you and resources. But it does mean that everything you need to accomplish your mission, you either have it or at the very least you have the capacity to pick it up and learn it if you can get somebody to help you. And that's what you got to know. You know, I titled this podcast the way I did, which is interesting too because sometimes I'll get a title for a podcast before I'll get the real idea for it. And then sometimes like what this isn't Today is an example of that where all I had was the title No Notes, no Book, no reference. It's just the title. It's not a good thing necessarily to do in public speaking, but it is good on a radio show why? Because people are distracted and tuned out. If you're constantly giving their brains something new to tap into, but keeping it tied to an overall theme, you're essentially doing the same thing. This is my theory from me studying people in doing media. This is not a fact, this is just my observations, You're doing the same thing tv companies do to you when they do cuts every seven seconds, so go watch teenage mutant ninja turtles. Any episode doesn't matter, start counting to seven, I promise you the picture changes before you get to seven. And the reason why that happens is because we're trying to keep these kids addicted to watching the show and one of the easiest ways to get humans to keep paying attention to you is to change what they're seeing. I just gave everybody making videos, $1000 tip for your social media, change what's happening in the pictures guys, make sure you're doing that. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

Every problem you are facing in your life is more amplified in your imagination than it ever will be in real life. The truth is, when you lean in to solve hard problems, you find that no problem is as hard as you thought it might be in your mind. Let's lean in together in this fight to make the world suck a little less. Transcript Below:if you'll indulge me, I'd like to share a brief story from combat that I think you'll find some really powerful principles in and some really practical tips that you can very quickly apply to your life. And this is um, something I'd like to do a little bit more often on the podcast is recording. Won't be particularly long. I'd like to do these shorter clips for you all I know for many of you I am what gets you through your monday morning commute or your monday evening commute, I guess. Uh and I know you didn't get a podcast this week because it was Memorial Day and I've been rightfully disconnecting myself from pretty much everything going on in the world just so I can be emotionally in a good place because this is usually the hardest time of year for me just dealing with all of the loss and the things that I've seen, not, not necessarily in a bad way, I'm totally in a good place. I just, I've learned over the years to take really good care of my emotional self and when I need to detach, I do it. So that's why you really didn't get much out of me this week. In fact, I recorded a podcast that I just was completely unhappy with and I won't publish it because it felt very self indulgent narcissistic, uh, and not very helpful for you all. So, I want to get out of that energy and come to the story I want to tell you all today. We'll take care of some administrative notes. There's something really powerful I want to share with you at the end of today's story that I'm only going to be sharing with the people on the podcast. I have not made this public. The podcast is a more intimate audience. It's certainly not the millions and millions of people that watch me every week, like on Tiktok, but I will be sharing that with you here. Please keep it private and don't share it with a lot of people because it is only for a select few warriors and it is definitely invite only. But I feel like the people who are listening here are certainly the right people for that. Anyway, let's get into the story so I can get you on with your day. So this is before we actually go to combat. This is days before we're actually wheels up and cleared high. And I had just been briefed on and many of you have probably heard this story before, but I'm gonna tell it from a slightly different perspective. I was given what seemed like a suicide mission basically the way it was broken down to me, we were going to be pushing through a piece of enemy held territory where we were going to be completely at a tactical disadvantage because the enemy had the high ground, they were entrenched. Um, and we were gonna be fighting our way basically uphill through a valley where we were going to be getting shot down at the way our patrols are distributed across terrain, there was a good chance that in this mission of all the people that should and could have been killed me. That was definitely one of them. The way things are set up and I was okay with that. That's not the point of the story. The point of the story was I had to go brief Basically a group of 50 to 100 men, depending on how you look at the way our unit was structured on the suicide mission that we're about to go on uh and get buy in from all these people that hey, this stupid thing we're getting ready to go do is probably gonna get a bunch of us killed, myself included...Application integrationSupport the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

Today's show this week shows a little bit late, but that's for good reason. I'm here with a dear friend of mine named Hobbes, many of you know him from Tiktok and you know him from Sisters cattle Company. Uh, I've had a tremendous time not just watching and being entertained by his content, but being educated on something that I care very deeply about, which is why I wanted to have hobbs on the show. If you guys haven't heard me tell the story of going to meet Joel Salatin many years ago with my family, which was smaller at the time. And if you're not familiar with Joel Salatin as a listener, if you've heard of the movie, Good Food inc, he's essentially the good guy in that movie and he's one of those types of humans that if you get around him, you immediately become a better person, He's that caliber. Uh, and so I'm excited to have Hobbs here because I put him in that same regard when I watch his content, when I listen to the things he's teaching us about how to take care of the land and provide good, healthy, natural food to people. Uh something in my heart springs up because I care very deeply about taking care of people and this is, this is something this person, this human is doing at scale. So I'm incredibly excited to have you here, Hobbs, I want you to talk about Sisters cattle Company. Let us know what you've got going on there. Let us know what your main mission is, how it applies to the warrior ethos. But more importantly from my listeners that haven't seen your awesome Tiktok videos. Just just give us a quick. How do you do? All right. Yeah. Thanks for having me on brian. I really appreciate it. I'm really grateful to be here. Uh, Sisters cattle Company is, uh, sort of the dream. Uh, it's sort of the rebirth of my family's cattle history. We were ranches in texas panhandle for about 100 years and then I got out of it for about 10 years and then had a family and decided the only thing that I could do move forward that would be meaningful. And the best use of my skills was to start ranching again. But in a way that was much more centered around the ecology and so armed with a little bit of money and uh, some tenacity, my wife and I uh, set about collecting pieces of ground that people weren't really using, healing them uh, and using them to provide good wholesome beef for our community. And that's where we are right now. And the whole Tiktok thing was sort of an accident and it just sort of went like wildfire. And now we're lucky enough to have an opportunity to spread the message of regenerative agriculture. And uh, or as I like to refer to it in some cases as eco agriculture and uh, see if we can help push, uh, the way that human beings interact with the landscape in a way that is much more positive and less extractive. Amen to that. And I love the fact because I think more people than you realize this story on Tiktok is yeah, I threw up a couple of videos and then the accident happened, so I for one and I know I can speak for a large portion my audience, I'm glad that the happy accident took place because we're glad you're with us. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

A funny story about Bryant losing his mind at the Department of Motor Vehicles. And a lesson in how being too agreeable is a bad thing. Remember to check out Warrior Reads to kill anxiety, sleep better, and win the war to take command of your life. Show Script Below: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the brian chambers movement. It must not be that good we're here. We're gonna have a great show for you all today, the podcast. I have the beautiful one. Uh Miko with me here today. You guys have been asking for her to come back more often. So we are making good on that request. We're gonna be talking the title of the show today is dedicated to my good man, my good friend Big Brother has become a mentor to me. What other titles can I give this guy entrepreneur? Extraordinaire assassin kip actually came up with the title for today's show during a conversation he and I were having about lamenting the mediocrity of humanity and he said out of his mouth he was talking about this woman we were telling, I was telling the story to him that I'm gonna be telling on the podcast today about the D. M. V. And he said it must suck to suck. And he said he said that to a person it's just like it must really suck to be you because you suck and sucking must suck pretty bad. And that's kind of what we want to get at. It's a continuation of uh the agreeableness conversation that we had over the last probably two shows just talking a little psychology and how we're reacting to things. However, before we get into that we make a and I and I'm going to get into some important information for the show because we have some new listeners, a lot of new listeners who may not know exactly what this brian chambers movement thing is up to. And if you just tune into one of my shows, it's not like a television show where you're going to understand what the hell is going on. It's confusing, it's abstract. A lot of its rhetorical, a lot of it is satire, but at the end of the day, all of it is a show and I want to get into after talking about mortal kombat, the movie uh with Mika. We're gonna get into kind of introducing ourselves to the new members of the audience. So you can understand that even though this show sounds like the whimsy and the thought exercise and maybe the verbal diarrhea of a madman. I assure you that I am well therapeutic. Is that a word? I assure you that I met the best place I could humanly be in life with me and Nico. We're having a great time. So any who will get into that first. You were talking mortal combat and the words out of your mouth, which I think were perfect were in our family, my father May he rest in peace started this principle, at least in our family, I'm sure he's not the inventor. But in our family we have something called the 15 minute rule with movies, right? So we'll sit down to watch the film 15 minutes in. If we're not hooked, we bounce because life's too short man for shitty movies. And I learned that lesson going to see the Ashton kutcher playing jesus movie that Miko drugged me two years ago and I wanted to walk out. But I had paid money to watch this horrible whitewash bullshit. Uh, it was just like, please. I wanted to walk out of the theater. So bad. But I stayed because I paid and from that day forward I vowed If a movie sucks after 15 minutes, I'm sticking with dad's rule. And the actor wasn't really actually, he looked like him close enough. Okay, combat mortal kombat. You fell asleep several times during the film and we were only by the time the film cut off because we didn't finish it by the way, so there's not gonna be any real. I mean it's mortal kombat guys. Here's the spoiler alert. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

The word "nice" was never meant to be a compliment. Today's men need to know that the world needs them to be what they were created to be. Not what pop culture thinks they should be. Perfection is a lie. Your heroes are flawed. Just because you aren't fully squared away, doesn't mean you should pursue a purpose that makes your heart come alive. Check out Warrior Reads to kill anxiety and sleep better!Show Script:don't worry about it being a show, just jump right back into what you were saying. These, these candid conversations are what I think real shows are going to become anyway. Anyway, I was just saying I really liked how they connected the characters. We're talking about Star trek Discovery and I like how you know I don't want to give any spoilers but I will say spoiler alert because you haven't seen the show yet. But I've seen first, I think I've seen half of the first season, you know that Burnham was raised by Vulcan, Vulcan but specifically sparks falling. Yes, I'm tracking that. So her being half of her childhood, you know from like her Tween years on forward, she was raised by ciric and Amanda Sarah. Okay, so Sarah sarah spots dad basically. That's right, I remember that because he was on one of the episodes, I think one of the meditation things she was doing, she was trying to survive. And it's really interesting to see Cyrix interaction with her compared to how they portrayed Serik and its interaction with Sparks throughout the series, there was always some contention between them and they do address it and that I think the way that they addressed it made a lot of sense. So they address it in discovery to because they addressed it in next generation pretty heavily. Yeah, that's pretty dangerous. Box uh his relationship with Syria because remember remember the spot starts being the ambassador to the ambulance when they're trying to make peace. Yeah, Yeah, I think it's cool and one of the things that passes away to yeah, spoiler alert, I guess if you didn't know speaks dad a spoiler, it's not a spoiler man. God that's a spoiler for you. I don't know what to tell you. You're you're a star trek person and you didn't already know that that has happened. But it's not a major plot point either. First of all, you know when he dies, you know it's coming. It's not like a big surprise that episode out of it. But yeah, I know it was already what? 500? Nobody is shocked that this guy dies at some point. Especially the way Vulcans die and resurrect. Anyway, do they resurrect? Sparks died? Remember the search for spot? Yeah, but I'm just saying it's not like a normal part of their physiology that just that just come out is what happened in his in his situation. So we were talking about what led to this part of the discussion was me appreciating. We just finished watching Picard, which is great in a lot of ways, fantastic at the cinematography, Whoever directed the photography for that work of art, let's call it what it is. It's beautiful. Um The philosophy and the Ethics is on point, which is what I've always loved about Star Trek and why it's my favorite show. But the plot is silly. The plot is like when you figure out what the mystery that the show is shrouded in right up to the end, when you figure out what's really going on, it's like word mass effect, that that's what you're gonna pull. Like you're just gonna basically take mass effect and copy and paste it. We could have done a little better than that in the plot. Department imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Yeah, good artists copy great artists steal so, but at least steal something that's less than or more than 20 years old I guess. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

Who was hotter? Well, according to Bryant, Pam.....Show ScriptIn today's show, you're going to get two stories for the price of one because that's how I have to set this thing up. I got to cool stories for you in the moral of today's story. I'm gonna give you up front so that you can be thinking on it while I tell you these fantastical and ridiculous stories from my life that are all true. So the moral of today's stories of question, are you too agreeable? And now the question comes from obviously an assessment that I've taken of myself uh, every year, several times a year I will take personality inventories like the Texaco test, which is and the evolution or a derivative if you prefer, of the Big Five personality inventory. And I take these tests because you all know that I am a proponent of self awareness and I truly believe that self awareness is the exact bedrock foundation of all your success, all of your sense of purpose, purpose, and all your happiness. And yes, I'm out here on the workout trail again. Anyway, back to the question, are you too agreeable personality inventories? So I take these tests to assess where I'm at, to understand who I am right and to understand what my tendencies are that I may not be exactly conscious of right. Like I have some tendencies, everybody has biases in tendencies, right? Like the corporate world has adopted, what I have read is kind of horse crap. But they've adopted this test that Harvard put together, uh, to measure unconscious bias from what I understand those tests are horseshit. Scientifically I could be wrong. But smart scientists that I seem to remember saying that I have some faith in said, Yeah, nice try and then I kind of disregarded it. Now the government and some corporate world are 100 into this bullshit and trying to teach people that they're secretly biased to fat people were blacks and it's hilarious. Like no, we're all biased like where do you guys understand? We're all biased against being fat. Right? Here's a quick little science. Less important. All humans are biased against being really, really fat. Let's let's define our terms, right? And I don't mean bias like in some moral or ethical way that you are somehow in the wrong and should be condemned because you are overweight, buy american weight standards. I am obese and you guys have seen me on camera, I don't look like I can't lift weights and run real fast. Right? So I get it. I am technically overweight too. I'm not obviously shaming anybody, but you understand that we're all biased, all humans, every single human being. And these are the things honestly, these are the things that frustrate me that people don't talk about because the media is retarded, right? All humans are biased against being wildly overweight. Why? Because that kills us biologically you have a biological sense of hey, that is not okay because carrying that much weight means there's other things internally that aren't right. That is not shaming, that is not tearing a person down. That is being a friend who's telling them, hey keep going in that direction and yes, you're beautiful and all that other bullshit. The magazines had to tell you to make you feel good about yourself for five seconds. So you would buy their fucking magazine because you thought they cared about you wrong Susan, they don't give a shit about you, you're fat or how beautiful you think you are. They care about your money and the advertisers that paid for that stupid ass magazine to exist to tell you that horseshit about beauty standards and make no mistake. I think american beauty standards are fucking retarded. I don't like super skinny chicks I never had Except one. I dated, she was dope. But you got to be really dope to be a super skinny chicken. Get my attention. Sorry, I'm also married so my attention is in my house. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

On today's Podcast, Bryant talks about how the Law of Inertia controls how we think and communicate with each other. Remember to check out Warrior Reads to improve your sleep and lower your anxiety. (https://warriorreads.com)Brief Transcript:Hey, we're back on mission. Once again, ladies and gentlemen, I am currently walking up Soul Crusher Hill, the place where many of you have seen me run hill sprints and some of my tick tock and YouTube videos. And today's topic is, interestingly enough, related to the fact that I'm walking up this giant hill and breathing hard. I want to talk about the law of inertia and how that affects how we influence the humans in our lives, the people in our lives, the people on the planet. And if you can't master this very simple law of physics, which absolutely proves true also in psychology you're going to have a hard time getting the things you want out of your life. Because without influence, you do not have other people in your camp supporting you, which means you have no tribe. Without those things, you will be dead soon. Now, in the modern world, that's more figurative than literal. You probably won't actually die, but you won't be very successful. Purpose driven are happy. Yeah, if you don't have other people around you to support you And if you want other people around you to support you and the things that you're doing, you have to have influence and to have influence. You have to understand the law, the physical law of inertia, which is basically in an undisturbed environment. An object in motion wants to continue in its motion unless acted upon by an outside force. Equally an object at rest wants to stay in that state of rest unless acted upon by an outside force. Right? So, in other words, whatever direction we're going in, whatever direction we're being emotionally compelled in and remember, this is going to be important for the rest of this talk. When we get into the heavy pieces in order to properly emotionally draw people toward a thing, right? People want to keep moving in the direction they're already walking. So if I am emotionally compelled towards something, I am going to want to keep moving toward it. And if you disturb my progress toward the thing that I am emotionally compelled toward, you do that at your own peril. Now there are times where disruption is valuable. If you can disrupt my thinking with a better thought, that I am willing to accept. And this is where I watched the whole world, especially young people on the Internet, trying to have discourse get it wrong is you hear a person say a thing that you somehow know is factually incorrect or to some degree, factually incorrect. What most people do is Hey, you're wrong And here's everything That's right. The problem with that method is the person who thinks they're right that you're correcting probably hasn't done zero thinking on this topic. They probably have some reasons why they believe it. Those reasons may be somewhat flimsy and not well researched, but their reasons And you just basically gave no merit to any of their wisdom, their knowledge, their intelligence or anything when you completely an outrightly dismiss something that they believe, Even if I and by the way, even if I can prove something you believe is absolute crap like the blood type diet. If you're like I have people like yo be I'm doing the blood type diet people that I meant, Or do you think I just yell at him? Yeah, the blood type diet is bullshit. Stop that. No. Obviously this person landed on the blood type diet for a reason. Some research led them there. And here's what's interesting about the blood type diet because science or some scientists, especially nutritionists in some cases have outright dismissed it as correlation versus causation. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

It's called Warrior Reads and it's the future of sleep for warrior leaders.Check out Warrior Reads hereMore from the show: take a moment. Have a seat. If you can close your eyes and just listen. You hear the birds, you hear the wind going through the trees. Do you hear the kid having batting practice about 200 m from where I'm sitting? Do you hear the American flag here at the baseball field rippling back and forth through the wind? The answer is yes. Then good. If the answer is no, then also good. Either way, I just took you through a mindfulness and presence exercise where you stopped your busy life to focus on you for about 30 seconds there. That was pretty good. And one of the things I want to encourage you with. In fact, today's show is all about taking care of yourself. Um, and I want to encourage you to take moments out of your life like that, to stop, be present in the moment and just acknowledge yourself and the things that are going on around you. Now the other thing I just did to you subconsciously is I removed all your distractions. You're gonna hear the lawnmower that's 100 m behind me. the cars that are 400 m to my northwest. You're gonna hear the kid doing batting practice. The wind, the birds, the dogs barking. You're not gonna get away from distractions in your life. But what I hope you do is be present with them so that there are part of this show instead of something that just happens and distracts you. From what I'm saying now, every part everything that you're hearing is a part of the symphony. Alright? Little psychological exercise for you there. If it worked, there's three of you that are saying you're full of crap and you're right for you three. I am full of crap. I can't help everybody now then, Yeah, let's get into it, man. I actually started today's show with a great deal of anxiety, not a great deal of a taste of anxiety. And I think one of the things you don't know about me is I start every show podcast less than video. But it still happens on podcast to a degree video Definitely much more than podcast. But I start every show with a tangible sense of anxiety and that's because I don't know how to start conversations to people who aren't here, right, and this is a testament. I did a tiktok video about this the same day I'm doing this recording, which is Saturday. You're listening to this probably on a Monday or whatever day you've chosen to listen to the podcast, and I talked about how being an extrovert is actually detrimental to being a social media influencer. Now it's not. That is not a statement of absolution there, obviously things about being an extrovert that make it much easier to be influential. But there's one specific part about making video content in particular. That's harder for the extroverted That's the extrovert doesn't actually have an audience right. The introvert is elated that they don't have an audience because they can be in their comfortable space, which is their brain. Live there, think through all of the things internally and introspectively and come out with a solution that's usually pretty well thought out. An extrovert, especially one like me. I can't speak for all of you, but one like me. I need humans to bounce ideas off of. I can't get to conclusions in my head alone. Not often, sometimes, yes, but oftentimes I need another human to bounce it off of before it's even gonna sound sane and rational. Which is why I tell you guys all the time with the content that I produce, you need to take at least 60% of it as rhetorical and satirical because oftentimes I am thinking through my thoughts for the benefit of the audience. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

In the story of the invalid man at the Pool in Bethesda, Jesus shows us just how much of our problems in life are really all in our minds. Here's the transcript from the show: But you don't think you don't think my plan would work? I don't know. You don't know? How are you? Hey, I can probably shoot about three problems right at you about that plan. Okay, The cost. First of all, you're gonna lose. You're gonna shoot. Would you drop something? So if you're just tuning in, that's the lovely Miko. The beautiful one just dropped her mask. We're out here working out, and she is doing today's podcast with me. Welcome back to the movement, Warrior. And we're talking about my plan to thin the herd in America the problems that America has. Just that we have too many people 330 million plus folk. And as Aristotle pointed out, anytime my state goes above 10,000 people, you've now become a nation. And now, basically, you're ruled by your stupidest class. Because once you go above that many people, there's too many opportunities for extremists. And in the extremist number includes very neurotic, dumb, narcissistic people which try to control everything. So rather than be at the mercy of these people, I propose to make oh, my vice president mhm, that we just basically I'm going to buy up all of the porn companies. All of them? Yes, that went to the one you're thinking about right now that you think nobody else should know about. I'm buying all of them, and then I'm gonna put a ban on sex for a year, right? So immediately, I'm a trillionaire. Then in the next year, the government that during that year we're going to contract like Lockheed Martin or one of those companies that build space shuttles or whatever for $10 trillion of your tax money. And we're just gonna build and manufacturer the sex robots and have those sent to every adult's house and we're gonna have stimulus checks. We're gonna cut part of the defense budget and have stimulus checks from that sent to every American adult household with the sex robots. And I figure by 2023 the population should be down to about 180 million, and then we're kind of manageable. All the crazies will be dead. All the neurotic people will probably started a war and killed themselves. And the regular sensible people who actually want to run this republic properly will still be left and you're saying that that plan has holes in it? Yeah, absolutely. Tell me if you first of all, I think the moment you declared the sex being, you'll probably get assassinated. That's fine. This is my contribution to humanity. Then I think that you're gonna find it's not gonna be cost effective in the long term. You're probably not going to have as many people, uh, hi as many people that are thinned from the herd as you're thinking. So not half the population will be dead from sex and Fuding themselves to death. I don't think I'll buy that. So we just go back to either build birds, cruise ship idea. And then how will you control birth during that time? You have sex band. You have people who are married. They can't have sex. No sex band baby like China holds the Draconian. That's why people people always like be You should run for office and like you sure you know the things I think about when I'm alone putting people on putting all the people under 80 i Q. So we got about 40 episodes of the BBC program coming at you live and in Living Color. If you got questions, here's what we do. It's 20255608852 Oh 25560885 is the number text me Don't ever call me I'm not gonna answer. It's not gonna happen. Text me your questions and make sure when you send questions, you give me enough context to actually give you an answer that's going to help you. Let's jump into the questions is always two oh 25560885 Also one quick side note because I've been getting a lot of texts from people who've heard about, um, me doing one on one mentorship with people. If you heard about that and that's something you're interested in, let me just take a minute and 30 seconds of your time to kind of break down a little bit of the details of how it works because I want to save both of us time. Um, I'm always elated to hear from everybody, but there are a number of people who are reaching out to me who heard me talk about it in passing and believe that this is, you know, some type of charitable thing that I'm just doing to help save the world. It's not all right, um, so the folks who have hit me up thinking that it's just gonna be me, you just hit me up and then I'm gonna start mentoring you. That's that's not what this is about. I I am actually taking on mentees who are either entrepreneurs or artists with a warrior mentality who actually want to be the best at what they do and want to take that to a place where their work, their art, their business not only makes them successful, but it makes the world that they influence a better place. Okay, so that's what I'm up to. I am finding the people in the world who I think have the potential to really go into the world and make legitimate positive change, and I'm paying attention to you. And then I'm offering you the opportunity for me to help you amplify what you're doing, you know, taking examples from my life where I've done a lot of the things that you guys are trying to do. And so I want to show you. First of all, let's avoid all of the pitfalls in quicksand that I walk through. You're gonna walk through none of that because I'll help you avoid it, right? You know, one of the things that I focus very heavily on which is supremely valuable to everybody I help is mastering fear, right? So so many people. As always, if you need mentorship, get in touch - https://bryantchambers.comNotes from the Show:As I'm inching closer to this babbling brook that I often walk by, I'm hoping you can hear it. Just the calm, the birds, the peace, right? Just for a moment before you start your day before you go rushing into whatever awesome dragons, I'm sure you're gonna have to fight today as a part of your life, your career, whatever it is. Let's just take a moment. Put all that on the shelf and let's focus on you. What do you need to be right today? What's one thing you're going to do to take care of yourself, To show yourself some love and respect and some care, right before you rush off into the world to go make the money to feed your kids or whatever it is, the thing you gotta get up and do just for a moment, stop. Reflect on you for a moment and check in. How are you doing? Are you holding up? Okay? And if the answer is no, What needs to change? And I'm talking about root causes, not surface level happiness, like getting a new house or a new car. Those things are great, but they do not lead to long lasting happiness or peace. You know that. What are the things the root cause, things that actually need to change to bring you some real serenity to your life? That's my question for you today as we get into the show called Ask bc Episode two as I walk away from the babbling Brook. Yes, I am outside. You were hearing correctly. Yes, you're going to hear me have labored breath at some point because I'm also on my workout trail. I'm not running, but I am walking fairly briskly. You could say up some very steep hills. So every once in a while you may hear me get labored in my breathing. But we're warriors. We're not gonna focus on things like that. That don't matter. Marcus really has taught us to never, ever waste a single moment on this earth, putting our attention on trifling things. Never waste your time thinking about and pondering trifling things like Why does he shave his moustache? Why does he wear body armor? Who cares? None of those things matter. They show that your brain is wildly creative and curious, which means you're smart, but it also means you've been conditioned to focus on things that don't mean anything and don't actually bring you any semblance of a sense of purpose. Peace of serenity. And I'm really starting to focus on peace and serenity when I talk to you guys and not happiness, because this lie of chasing happiness, that everybody this, this journey, that everybody is on to find their happiness. It's a fool's errand. It doesn't exist. There is no state of consistent, perpetual nonstop happiness that's called mania. It's a condition that has to be treated with medicine. Okay, you don't want to be happy all the time. What you want to be is not in pain. You want to be at peace and have serenity, and you want to know that everything you got up to do today is a part of a purpose that you actually care about. That's it. If we can fix those things, your life becomes exactly what you wanted to be. You woke up today to do exactly what you feel like you're a creator, puts you on this Earth to do, or if you don't have a creator, whatever your D n a decided you were supposed to be doing on this planet? Check. Okay. Do I have some semblance of peace and serenity about the things I'm doing? What are the obstacles that are preventing me from doing that? Because that's going to create anxiety and depression. Sure, by nature, for example, people talk about depression and anxiety like they're these nebulous disorders that come for you. After re-watching the Matrix Reloaded I believe I may have judged the film way too harshly in my youth. Alright, warrior. Let's talk about the Matrix Reloaded and how I might have been a little too quick to judge that movie. Now don't get me wrong. I still take some issue with the overarching plot choice of the film, but I took an opportunity last night to re watch it on. I've got some thoughts that I think may be beneficial to all of us to think about. Speaking of thinking, I want to say it Ah, lot because we live in a world where context and nuance or being lost, that bothers may. It scares me a little bit that people are actually actively behaving in a way that makes our minds and our hearts week, you know, running from ideas that oppose the things we believe. No, no. Lean into that that is there to challenge you, to refine your belief, not to take it away from you, Right? The things that oppose you are designed to balance you out, not to destroy you, Right? But if you have too much neuroticism, too much of a scaredy cat, you're gonna vilify everything that disagrees with you and want to fight it and destroy it. That's why you see extremists in any sect of the world, right? Trying to kill people either figuratively or literally, and that wanting to kill or destroy actually is born out of fear. Nobody wants to kill someone just because today's Thursday, I guess I'm recording this on a Friday, right? Anyway, I speaking of thinking, one of the things I want to say often on these shows because I wanna have a record of it when inevitably people are gonna take umbrage with the things I say. And that's fine. Take all the umbrage like, uh, but I am watching the trend of my popularity start to grow. Uh, and much to my dismay, have tried to keep what I'm doing. Very niche for a long time. And now, I guess, theme universe, God, serendipity, whatever. Has decided that it's time for me to have some time in the spotlight. I really don't like the spotlight that much, but whatever. Yeah, but I want to say this the things that I say whenever I'm doing a tick tock, I'm doing one of these podcasts. I'm doing a YouTube livestream. Everyone listening needs to understand that my discussions, my presentations, lectures, whatever you wanna call them are an interesting orchestra of rhetoric mixed with some facts. Some things that we believe are true, right? I think all facts and all truth get better with further investigation, right? I don't know that there's any absolute bottom line truth that a human can perceive because we're always moving forward and growing. And so we need to be careful when we're listening to people speak one we need to listen to understand, But we also need to understand where they're coming from when we say the things we say, right? Like so for me, for example, I think through talking, I can't go into a closed room and think, I love you introverts. Who could do that, right? If being an introvert a real thing. I love that you can lock yourself in a room and think for hours at a time and come up with these great things. I don't do that. The way my brain works is I need to talk out things. So a lot of times when I'm having a discussion, I'm just thinking out loud. I tell people all the time I'm not speaking the gospel. I'm not even speaking what I think might be true. In fact, uh, I joke, and the Matrix reference is that the Matrix discussion is relevant because the Internet has basically decided that my nickname is going to be Morpheus, which I find funny because it's a very narcissistic way, too. Although I do kind of look like Laurence Fishburne. There's a taste of narcissism in that statement because the reason why everyone's calling me Morpheus is because in the story of their life, where they're the hero, they think they're Neil. The world's system was designed by fearful men who value controlling people over developing them into superior humans. The faster you can accept this, the faster you can get to your own freedom.Partial Show Transcriptand we're back. How goes the good fight Warrior? I pray my message today finds you doing extremely well today. Super Bowl Sunday. Believe it or not, that's when I'm recording this. I'm excited. This is my one day a year toe watch television, which we'll circle back to that statement in a minute because it's very relevant to the things I want to talk to you about today. And having a winner's mindset of winner's mentality and winter like behaviors. Right? And it's Super Bowl Sunday I had actually planned to use today's podcast is an opportunity is gonna bring a friend named Ryan on this show who's a super genius, uh, in a lot of areas, but specifically in biology, because we're gonna talk about another friend of ours who's another super genius in epi genetics and that type of thing. And he believes he's discovered, Ah, way to make, uh, this vaccination process and the vaccines themselves, uh, more effective and more efficient for Americans, uh, to get healed faster, right to do it better than the current system is doing it. Problem is when you're trying to get the attention of a bureaucracy that likes to do things the way it likes to do things regardless of what right looks like, you know, you get people that stick to the rules for the sake of the rules, right? You find usually in the government bureaucracy, you have a ton, and these type of people are attracted to this type of work. That's why you get annoyed when you go to the D. M. V. And they can't be flexible because they hire inflexible, neurotic people. That's the only type of human who would have the lack of human social capability toe. Wanna work at the fucking D M V? Are you kidding me on? I'm not sure if you work in the D. M v m kidding. Everybody calm down. Kind of kidding. Uh, but it's the neuroticism that leads that. I'm never gonna change the standard because this is the standard. Is the standard actually in place and helping like, is it actually doing its job? Or are you just sticking to the letter of the law because you're too neurotic to do the wrong thing, right? You could tell these people have never been in combat because it's like they all that rule shit it matters, but standards change when bullets start flying, you know, And when you're the type of person who's never really had a life challenge that puts you a life in danger, your perspective is different. But anyway, not to harp on that type of silliness. But I was going to talk about I was actually gonna read the white paper my friend put together about how we could be doing things better. But I adjusted Fire one because I need more time to digest it to. We're making progress offline in the real world with humans. And my podcast may not be me. Talking about on the podcast may just not be necessary because we think we may have connected with the right humans to start creating change without me having toe start doing social media campaigns to get attention. Because the biggest issue my friends having is just getting the attention to people to even listen to him, right? Like, just hear me out, Please. There's a way to do this better and everybody wins, right? So we're not doing that simply because things like when I plan to do it. Earlier in the week, we made more progress than I thought we were gonna make. It's fast as we did. So we may circle back to it at some point, depending on what goes down this week in the world of Covic and my buddy out there trying to fight the good fight to save lives. So today, I'm just gonna kinda use this as a grab bag recording, really? Just to encourage your soul. How Wounded Warriors Get Back in the Fight!

Don't die in your foxhole, friend. You are not alone. Your wounds are fixable. Let us help you heal until you are back on your feet!Create your Good Life - learn.bryantchambers.comShow Notes:I was dreaming when I wrote this. So forgive me if it goes astray. Today's message. It's for my wounded warriors. Now I don't necessarily buy that. Me and those of you who were physically wounded in some type of conflict, although today's message certainly could apply to you. What I mean more specifically is those of you who are on the warriors path to the good life. And you've been wounded mentally, physically or emotionally on that path. And now you find yourself stuck in your foxhole just praying for the war to end without the will to fight back. If that's you. Welcome. I've been there. We all have. If it's not you, don't worry. It will be soon enough. It comes for all of us, all right. And this is kind of your podcast, medevac, to get you out of that situation, you get your head in your heart back in the right spot so we could get you back in the fight. All right? And the fight. What's the fight? It's living the good life, man. I don't get to define that for you. You figure out what that is. I'll just help you develop the skills, the tools and the know how necessary to go out there and get it. All right, so you're in your battle. And the motivation for today's podcast actually comes from a young man who I helped from time to time. Who has the struggle? He is a warrior. Uh, not not a soldier or that type, but he definitely has the warrior spirit. I probably wouldn't be helping him if he didn't, uh, because I'm not really wired to help people who don't. But he does. But he's found himself, you know, wanting to fight. But he stuck in his foxhole on dso. He inspired me to help all of you, just like other men and women helped dig me out of mine. All right, The thing I need for everybody listening this to know whether you're in this position or your past it, like many of us have dealt with him and gotten past it. Okay, all of us. You listener, you're gonna die one day. And by the way, the day of your death has already been chosen. There's good news and the bad news. You don't know when that day is. And again, there's always friends If you hear me breathing hard, you hear a little bit of wind. You hear a little bit of traffic. I'm out here getting a workout in. Anyway, you're gonna die one day the day your death has been chosen. Good news and bad news is you don't know when that is so help me understand. If death is the inevitable end of this game for all of us, now we can have a discussion about eternal life, eternity and all of those great spirituals things in another podcast. Right now, I just need you focused on what's happening on Earth because that is of paramount importance because I believe we've been given a mission while we're here to make and leave Earth better than we found it. Right? So if you're living with the knowledge that this game ends with you dying, please help me understand what you're so afraid off. Why are you hiding in your foxhole? Because you're trying not to die. Guess what? Too late. You're already dead. And I played you that sound clip at the beginning of this podcast of one. Lieutenant Ronald Spears, 101st Infantry Division. Battle of the Bulge, actually. What I played from you was just a couple of in fact hours. Probably maybe 24 toe 72 hours after D day. Was that audio clip that I played you. Now, whether the conversation happened exactly like that, who knows? You know, that was from Band of Brothers, a TV show that's meant to dramatize reality. Oftentimes the reality is less orm or sensational than the entertainment we create toe.Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

So, first and foremost, my email address is contact at Bryant chambers dot com. Again, that's contact at Bryant chambers dot com. Now the reason why I'm giving you my email address at the beginning will become abundantly clear as you listen to the podcast. Also something I said at the end of the podcast that I should have led with Thank you thank you to everyone of you for listening for commenting, for giving me feedback and for taking the message forward and making life better for yourself and other people. You guys, why I get out of bed every day? I'm eternally grateful, and you'll never know how much until we see each other in eternity. I love you guys. Enjoy the show and we're back on mission. Thanks for joining us today. Warrior. I pray the sound of my voice finds you doing extremely well in your life, pushing forward towards the things that matter to you towards your purpose and your destiny. Now, on today's welcome back out here on the trail as promised, just know. Today it's a little bit windy, so we might have a little bit of wind in our sound today. You may also hear me be shortly tight in my breathing because I'm working out while I'm doing this, and I am actually holding my phone in my body armor. So my body armor is a little tighter thing, a work outfit thistles more how I would have it if I was actually fighting. So I'm upright, shoulders back. But anyway, there's a little bit of wind that may be on the sound, and we're all warriors here. We're not weak minded, willed or spirited enough toe. Let a little wind stop our mission. Okay, so one of the things that I often coach the business owners and entrepreneurs that I've worked with over the years on is just how counterintuitive doing business convey be right. Like some of the things that work in the world of academics and things that work in the world of labor don't necessarily translate to the world off entrepreneurialism. There's a lot of things that you have to do is an entrepreneur that air seemingly counterintuitive, but they're actually where you extract the most value. So, for example, one of the things you see, uh, rookie businesspeople dio is trying to cast this giant net that everybody's gonna want to use my product. Everybody's gonna want to use my service because it's amazing. Now here's the trick. Eventually, that may be true. However, you're probably not going to get the traction and the velocity of attention that your product or service needs until you make that product specifically for a person who can love it. If you just make something that everybody thinks, it's kind of cool, probably no one's going to use it. But if you make something that a smaller segment of people think is the most amazing thing they've ever used on the planet, they will eventually do the marketing to get other people into what you're doing. And then you can tailor the solution for different types of people, but you almost always want to start as a big fish in a small pond, and then you expand your pond. What I watched most people dio is they jump as a tadpole into a giant ocean, hoping to compete with the killers and sharks who are in that water right? Not necessarily the way you want to do it any who. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

Thanks for tuning in this week. It's been a while since we've had the opportunity to share each other's presence. Thank you for being here now. It's also been a while since I've broadcasting to you all from nature. And I'm in this weird space where I'm trying to figure out my new process. So if you go back two years ago, when I first started this addition of my podcast, I've had actually had a couple of podcasts over the years. When I started finally started the Brian Chambers podcast A little over two years ago. Most of my recording was out here in places like this. Um, I didn't record much at home at all. In fact, a lot of the home studio that I had had prior to two years ago, uh, either sold or gave away toe other musician friends and whatnot, because at that time I had gotten out of completely where was getting out of completely the business of making content for social media and the Internet. I was gonna ride off into the sunset and walk away from it, but I had some things kind of call me back in. So most of my podcast in the beginning days were brought to you right from an iPhone, uh, similar to the one I'm holding, Certainly not his high quality, but very similar. Now you're also gonna notice some heavy breathing. Probably during this podcast. I'm out here on my workout trail, which also includes some pretty steep hills. So just be aware that be aware that I'm also out in some semblance of public, Even though I'm in a park so you may hear people, you may hear birds. You are inevitably going to hear a lawnmower before the end of this. It never fails. I have never come outside to shoot a podcast on any day on any time of the year like this is dead of winter. Someone will be mowing a lawn or wood chipping or something along those lines before this show is over. So just brace yourselves for it. I will do my best in the after editing to take those things out for you. So you don't have to listen to them as severely as I'll probably be listening to them. But I also hope that because the rhythm of this podcast has been over the last several months. Monday morning, six AM I'm right there with you in the trenches helping you push forward to take command of your life and make this world a little bit better of a place, right? So I am not? No, I'm not ignorant to the idea that many of you I'm your Monday morning start. Uh, you will never know how honored I am that those of you who have told me that you'll never understand how honored I am that I made it into that space in your life that I made it into anybody's life. Hell, that I convinced a woman to marry me 18 years ago. For God's sake, I am eternally grateful for anybody that gets anything good out of my existence on this planet. So let me say thank you. Also, let me do a quick side note here we are going to get into the main topic, which is going to be me basically dissecting breaking down, destroying and rebuilding this'd idea of motivation that I think Americans in the Western world specifically have gotten addicted to on. I want to stop that addiction today and start teaching people how to be properly motivated. Right? I am not a motivational speaker, despite the fact that people for tens of years have been trying to bid me Bill me is that I've been introduced to that. Hey, this is my friend Brian. He's a motivational speaker. I'll be like, No, I'm not e give to efs about your motivation. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

And welcome back to the movement today. I want to tell you a story and share some really important information with you that's gonna have a powerful, powerful, positive impact on your life. Today's story is gonna be about perseverance and why this specific type of perseverance is so necessary for you. Toe. Win it life the way that you want to. Now I've said it. I've told this story 1000 times. I'll probably tell it 1000 more. In fact, I had somebody on tick tock just last night. That was actually the inspiration for me telling this story today. Apparently, I told this story somewhere. I'm guessing YouTube because that was where the gentleman was telling me he heard it and he said, Dude, you're telling of this story is the best I've ever heard a human Tell it now. I didn't agree with him because I've heard other humans tell this story way better than me. And my reaction was you just haven't heard other humans tell it. Hell, Tony Robbins tells the story better than I do A Z should. He's been at this a lot longer than I have, but It's a powerful story. I can't wait to tell it to you again on I hope that it encourages you. Now, before we get into the story, I do want to get some administrative things out of the way. You're probably gonna hear a child on the podcast today. I'm not outside. I'm in the house because outside it is snowing terribly. That's not really the reason I'm out there. I'm not out there because my wife is not here. And I have a mother in law here it home who requires some Very. She's in recovery from a very serious surgery. So leaving the house? Uh, not really a good idea. So we're gonna do this inside, So just be prepared for a young man to come and interrupt this show. Although many of you have told me on other live streams that you actually enjoy when my kids come in. So be prepared for that. Be prepared to hear him scream, laugh, giggle and cry at some point, depending on how long it takes me to get through this. But you guys warriors, you won't be distracted by things like that. You're tougher than that. This is going back to some of the powerful stuff I want to share with you. One. I have told you all about one I have not, because I just made the announcement a couple of days ago. But I need my podcast family to be aware of this because if you guys don't know, you are part of the nucleus of the people that I talked to on the Internet. Like the people who I want to wake up every day and talk to it's you guys. I enjoy what I do on the podcast, leaps and bounds more than anything else I do on the Internet. Safer. Maybe when we all hang out on YouTube and we stream and have some fun together. Those are always good times. But you guys air such an integral part of what we're all working to do in the world, which is we gotta make people smarter. We gotta make people better, and we got to do it faster because we actually want to create the utopia is that we all want to live in. And more importantly, we don't want to just create the utopias. We want to create humans who can exist in utopias. And if you've seen the movie The Matrix, the scene spoiler alert with Agent Smith talking to Morpheus when he's trying to break his brain, he's telling him, Listen, when we first crafted The Matrix for you guys, it was a utopia, and the movie doesn't say it this way. But Socrates, Plato and Aristotle would.Application integrationSupport the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

So the inspiration came from a conversation I was having with Lisa on one of my YouTube streams And if you're not already subscribed to me on YouTube I can't recommend that enough because out of all of the places where I produce content that believe it or not is where I spend the most time And so during my leisure time I will often just say Hey let me do a live stream while I have a little bit of downtime here and talk to the people We play video games we hang out we chat we tell inappropriate jokes But at the end of the day We have really great conversations and Lisa proposed to me She's been getting after it pretty heavily on her warriors path or her artist journey if you prefer And if you didn't already hear the podcast I did on Stephen Press Fields the artist journey definitely give that a listen You don't necessarily need to listen to them in order Like if you didn't already Here it You don't need to stop this talk and go back to listen to that one I just highly encourage you to go back and listen to that one at some point because a lot of what we're going to discuss here will be amplified by having that background information But everything I'm going to say here is not does not require that you've heard or even read the book that I was discussing But I can't recommend enough that you start reading all of Stephen Press Fields books I think I've read five of his God knows how many books he's read I probably won't read his fiction books just because I struggled to read fiction but I recommend the five books I've read which are uh the turning pro The War of art do the work the artist journey and the warrior ethos on I'll get through his other books at another time But anyway today's podcast is dedicated to a conversation Lisa and I were having during a YouTube stream about the podcast referencing the artist journey and what it means to be on an artist journey What it means to answer the call of your muse and to go after the things that you secretly dream about and desperately want to accomplish Now when you make up your mind that you're gonna become the warrior that you're gonna become the artist that you're going to turn pro as Stephen Press Field talks about in his book Turning Pro you also have to get ready for what's in book number two The War of Art It's a little thing called Resistance you know we call it the Devil We call it demons We call it the system We call it the man but it's actually a natural force that exists uh in the universe that I think often manifests in those both animate and inanimate situations Right Resistance is coming for you Struggle is coming for you There is no highly successful person that's supremely happy with their success and Brian Chambers movement Those things are not separable I am not in the business of helping people develop success and make themselves miserable in the process Right I want you to be successful and happy at the same time because I I've had ah lot of success in my life And I'll tell you in some of the places where I've had great success where some of the most unhappy places in my life period and what I don't want for you is to have that similar experience I want the successes that you have to be things that you're ultimately happy about...Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

Bryant takes us through the second book in Will Durant's The Story of Philosophy. Join Bryant's coaching program at: learn.bryantchambers.comOPENING QUOTE (P.61) - "Life," says a fine Greek adage, "is the gift of nature; but beautiful living is the gift of wisdom."READING (P.64) - The Greek disdain of manual work kept everybody but the listless slave from direct acquaintance with the process of production, from that stimulating contact with machinery which reveals defects and prefigures possibilities; (How does this affect American society?)READING (P.66) - Aristotle gives us science, technical, abstract, concentrated; if we go to him for entertainment we shall sue for the return of our money. READING (P.67) - The first great distinction of Aristotle is that almost without predecessors, almost entirely by his own hard thinking, he created a new science--logic. READING (P.68) - Logic means, simply, the art and method of correct thinking. it is the logy or method of every science, of every discipline and every art. "Nothing is so dull as logic, and nothing is so important" - Will Durant"If you wish to converse with me," said Voltaire, "define your terms." - Will DurantREADING (P.68,69) - How shall we proceed to define an object or a term? Aristotle answers that every good definition has two parts, stands on two solid feet: first, it assigns the object in question to a class or group whose general characteristics are also its own--so man is, first of all, an animal; and secondly, it indicates wherein the object differs from all the other members in its class--so man, in the Aristotelian system, is a rational animal, his "specific difference" is that unlike all other animals he is rational. Aristotle drops an object into the ocean of its class, then takes it out all dripping with generic meaning, with the marks of its kind and group; while its individuality and difference shine out all the more clearly for this juxtaposition with other objects that resemble it so much and are so different. READING (P.70) - We have always goodly stock in us of that which we condemn: as only similars can be profitably contrasted, so only similar people quarrel and the bitterest wars are over the slightest variations of purpose or belief. The knightly Crusaders found in Saladin a gentleman with whom they could quarrel amicably, but when the Christians of Europe broke into hostile camps there was no quarter for even the courtliest foe. Aristotle is so ruthless with Plato because there is so much of Plato in him;READING (P.76) - Hence the almost "eternal recurrence," in civilization after civilization, of the same inventions and discoveries, the same "dark ages" of slow economic and cultural accumulation, the same rebirths of learning and science and art. No doubt some popular myths are vague traditions surviving from earlier cultures. So the story of man runs in a dreary circle, because he is not yet master of the earth that holds him. READING (P.80) - Everything in the world is moved by an inner urge to become something greater than it is. - Or at the very least "other" than it currently is - This is where our drive comes from - And if life has punched us in the mouth too many times, we retreat from this and it kills usREADING (P.80) - The mistakes and futilities of nature are due to the inertia of matter resisting the forming force of purpose--hence the abortions and monsters that mar the panorama of life. - So as a cruel joke, God commands us to grow and be like him, and then gives us a nature that resists this very growth process. Why? All strength, power, and love come from struggle.READING (P.83) - The soul is the entireSupport the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

The Law of Compulsive Behavior - The Laws of Human NatureHow to Determine the Strength of People's Character"When choosing people to work and associate with, do not be mesmerized by their reputation or taken in by the surface image they try to project. Instead, train yourself to look deep within them and see their character. People's character is formed in their earliest years and by their daily habits. It is what compels them to repeat certain actions in their lives and fall into negative patterns. Look closely at such patterns and remember that people never do something just once. They will inevitably repeat their behavior. Guage the relative strength of their character by how well they handle adversity, their ability to adapt and work with other people, their patience, and ability to learn. Always gravitate toward those who display signs of strength, and avoid the many toxic types out there. Know thoroughly your own character so you can break your compulsive patterns and take control of your destiny."What Bryant to Coach You? - The Good Life Playbook (learn.bryantchambers.com)Want to change your life in 30 Days? - 30 Day Change Your Life Challenge (30days.bryantchambers.com)READ Page 102 Highlights - How to Avoid Toxic People? It's time for the Art of War. THESIS - Thus it is said that the one who knows the enemy and knows himself will not be endangered in a hundred engagements. The person who is violently self-aware and intimately familiar with their problems and why they are the way they are will always win. 1. Warfare is the greatest affair of state. (Will Durant - How a Nation Eats) The basis of life and death The way (Tao) to survival or extinction It must be thoroughly pondered and analyzed2. Warfare is the Way (Tao) of deception - Tell Danny Roulier story about Football3. Subjugating the enemy's army without fighting is the true pinnacle of excellence Highest realization of warfare is to attack the enemy's plans Next, their alliances Next, their army Next, their fortified cities4. In antiquity, those who excelled in warfare FIRST made themselves unconquerable in order to await the moment when the enemy could be conquered. The ancients who excelled in warfare excelled in beating the easy to beat (Army tactics) Victory was about minimizing and eliminating errors. Not acts of heroism If you are to excel at warfare (life) you must first establish yourself Winners define victory then attack. Losers attack hoping to attain victory The combat of the victorious is like the sudden release of pent-up torrent down 1000-fathom gorge5. Thus one who excels at warfare (life/business) seeks victory through strategic configuration of power, not from reliance on men. 6. In combat, the most difficult thing to do is turning adversity into advantage.7. LOVE AND LEADERSHIP - When the general regards his troops as young children, they will advance into the deepest valleys with him. When he regards the troops as his beloved children, they will be willing to die with him. Support the show (https://patreon.com/bryantchambers)

The way we perceive something new is often by comparing it to something we already know. (I used to review video games professionally)The Metaphor Happiness Hypothesis uses is a Child Riding an Elephant where the Elephant is the primitive emotional brain and the Child is the rational and verbal mind. Imagine a child trying to steer an elephant. Page 3 - Freud said that the mind is divided into the ego (conscious, rational self), superego (the conscience, which sometimes holds us in contempt unnecessarily), and the id (the desire for pleasure NOW). Page 29 - Negativity Bias - we are wired to pay attention to negativity.Page 38 - Depression - for example, if you take a look at depressed people, we are often caught in a feedback loop in which distorted thoughts cause negative feelings. Those feelings further distort thoughts. And so on. Page 47 - Reciprocity - is a deep human instinct; it is the basic currency of social life.Page 60 - WHY THE NEWS IS SO ENTICING (AND EVIL) Scandal is great entertainment because it allows people to feel contempt, a moral emotion that gives feelings of moral superiority while asking nothing in return.Page 61 - APPEARANCE OVER SUBSTANCE - The great majority of mankind are satisfied with appearances, as though they were realities, and are often more influenced by the things that seem than by those that are.Page 82 - THE PROGRESS PRINCIPLE - King Solomon would be the happiest man in the world ever if money and success were the answer. Yet, he spent much of his later life battling the disappointment of success. That's because the pleasure of getting what you want is often fleeting. True pleasure comes more from making progress toward goals than from achieving them. Shakespeare said it right: Things won are done; joy's soul lies in the doing. Page 87 - EARLY HAPPINESS HYPOTHESIS - Buddha and Epictetus believed that true happiness comes from within, and it cannot be found by making the world conform to your desires. Page 88 - HAPPINESS CAUSES MARRIAGE - Happy people marry sooner and stay married longer than people with a lower happiness setpoint. Both because the mates are more attractive to one another and are easier to get along with. Page 91 - HAPPINESS FORMULA - H (Happiness) = S (Happiness Set Point) + C (Life Conditions) + V (The Voluntary Actitivites You Do)Page 92 - CONDITIONS THAT AFFECT HAPPINESS - Noise, Commuting, Lack of Control, Flow (being immersed in a challenging activity that is well matched to your abilities)Page 96 - PLEASURE MUST BE SPACED OUT TO MAINTAIN POTENCY - Pleasure sued by both savored and varied.Page 135 - THE PURPOSE OF ADVERSITY - Read Meng Tzu's quotePage 152 - WHY I AVOID IGNORANT PEOPLE - Ignorant people see everything in black and white--they rely heavily on the myth of pure evil--and they are strongly influenced by their own self-interest.
