    Antonio Alcalá opened Studio A in 1988 after graduating from the Yale School Art with an MFA in graphic design. Since then, his studio has won awards of excellence in design from local, national and international design institutions. His clients include the National Gallery of Art, the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Smithsonian Institution. Alcalá is responsible for the design of US postage stamps as an art director for the United States Postal Service, and in 2011, Alcalá was nominated for two National Design Awards from the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. His work is represented in the AIGA Design Archives, the National Postal Museum, and the Library of Congress Permanent Collection of Graphic Design.     Michael Bierut worked for ten years at Vignelli Associates, ultimately as vice president of graphic design. He then joined Pentagram in 1990 as a partner in the firm’s New York office. Bierut’s projects at Pentagram have included identity and branding for Verizon, MIT Media Lab, and the New York Jets; environmental graphics and signage for The New York Times, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Robin Hood Foundation, and the Walt Disney Company, and so many more projects in every discipline of design. He has won hundreds of design awards, work is represented in the permanent collections of the MoMA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in 1989, Bierut was elected to the Alliance Graphique Internationale. If that all wasn’t enough, Bierut is a Senior Critic in Graphic Design at the Yale School of Art.     Martine Bertrand is a multidisciplinary artist who has worked for over twenty five years as a theatrical costume designer. Her career is one of international acclaim and her designs have graced the stages of some of the most prestigious opera houses around the world.   In 2016, Martine marked another milestone in her career when she conceived and designed the graphic language used by the aliens for Denis Villeneuve’s motion picture Arrival starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner.

    Marian Bantjes is a designer, typographer, writer and illustrator working internationally from her base on a small island off the west coast of Canada, near Vancouver. She is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), and regularly speaks about her work and thoughts at conferences and events worldwide. In this episode we spoke with Marian about the Coexistence poster she designed for AGI.

    Matt Lehman is equal parts graphic designer, illustrator, and art director. He began his career in 2001 at Anderson Design Group in Nashville. It was there that he once laid out packaging for a cassette. In 2007, he joined CMT / MTV Networks focusing on show identities and the network rebrand in 2009. In 2010 he formed Matt Lehman Studio working for brands such as ESPN, Delta, PepsiCo, The Atlantic, Esquire, Nickelodeon and NASA to name a few.  In this episode we speak with Matt about his redesign of the colophon for The Atlantic magazine.

Bucher is the man behind 344lovesyou.com and dailymonster.com, which has spawned a book and the popular “Monster Maker” iOS app. He is the author of five other books, including the best-selling "344 Questions—The Creative Person’s Do-It-Yourself Guide to Insight, Survival, and Artistic Fulfillment." He has created designs and illustrations for David Hockney, Judd Apatow, and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is an ADC Young Gun and has won a D&AD Yellow Pencil for book design, among many others.   In this episode we speak with Stefan about the entrance of the Blue Man Theater which he designed for the Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
